STURGIS PLANNING BIKERNET WEEKLY NEWS for July 16th, 2015

Hey,

It’s that time of year. It’s nuts. I don’t know about you, but I’m thinking about the run to the Badlands in February during the Cincy V-Twin Show. My two biggest events of the year include V-Twin and Sturgis. Then of course the SmokeOut is my eastern player.

This year the scramble has a twisted bent. I’m going on the first Sturgis Underhanded Run with just a handful of riders from the East Coast. We will be hold up in a small Deadwood cabin for a week, two weeks prior to the big 75th Anniversary of the Sturgis Run.

Three days after the Hamsters leave the West Coast I will depart from Sturgis on my 2014 Indian Chief Classic and mosey west to Yellowstone. Hang on for more reports?

The Bikernet Weekly News is sponsored in Part by 2Wheelers Sturgis, Cycle Source, the Motorcycle Riders Foundation, and Iron Trader.

BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY OPENS LINE FOR MEN–
“Hello, my name is Bob. How can I help you?”

“Hi Bob, I really need your advice on a serious problem. I have suspected for some time now that my wife has been cheating on me. The usual signs: If the phone rings and I answer, the caller hangs up. She goes out with the girls a lot. I try to stay awake to look out for her when she comes home, but I usually fall asleep. Anyway, last night about midnight, I was in the shed cleaning my bike when she came home, she got out of someone’s car buttoning her blouse, and then she took her panties out of her purse and slipped them on. It was at that moment that I noticed a hairline crack in the rear footpeg mounting bracket. Is that something I can weld,or do I need to replace the whole bracket?”

Florida Man Arrested for Having Sex with an Alligator, EVERGLADES CITY, Florida ––

People have had sex with pit bulls, donkeys and even parrots, but this incident is on another level.

Rupert Darwin, 59, kept a 12-foot alligator tied and blindfold for the last month, sexually assaulting the reptile multiple times a day.

Darwin is a relatively unknown fisherman who lives in the outskirts of the remote town of 400. Residents say he sticks to himself and described him as “odd.”

Police responded after a man out of a nature hike happened to walk by Darwin’s house and saw Darwin having sex with the alligator in his backyard.

The witness heard Darwin say, “next time you try to kill a man, you best get the job done. Now you’re my bitch forever.”

“It was the damn strangest thing I’ve ever seen,” the witness told police. “The gator didn’t even move. It was like it didn’t give a s**t that man was having sex with it.”

Collier County Sheriffs responded and arrested Darwin on multiple counts of animal cruelty and one count of illegally keeping a wild animal.

Excerpt from Darwin’s police statement:
The gator tried to eat me and this was revenge, pure and simple. I don’t have no sexual attraction to gators, but I wanted to teach this bitch a lesson. I could have just killed her, but that would have been too easy. She was getting what she deserved.

AUSTRALIAN CLUB NEWS– Club leader talks about upcoming legal battle.

The leader of Australia’s biggest outlaw motorcycle club wants the High Court to overturn a decision by the Federal Government to strip him of his visa, a move that has left him stranded on the other side of the world.

In an exclusive interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) from his base in Malta, Rebels motorcycle club president Alex Vella said the cancellation of his visa on “character grounds” was a denial of natural justice.

“I’m innocent, I know that. I’ve done no wrong by nobody, but they’ve shut the door on me and thrown me out of the country,” he said.

Law enforcement agencies have told the ABC that the stranding of Mr Vella in Malta has disrupted the Rebels and their operations.
“There has been no person to step up and take over the leadership role. I would say the leadership structure is in disarray,” Detective Superintendent Deb Wallace (above) of the NSW Gangs Squad claimed.

Mr Vella, who held Australian residency for 47 years but not citizenship, was visiting his birthplace of Malta in June last year, when his visa was cancelled “on the basis that the Minister reasonably suspected that Mr Vella did not pass the character test and was satisfied that the cancellation would be in the national interest”.
Mr Vella has been the national president of the Rebels since 1973, presiding over a motorcycle club that has grown to be the biggest in the country with an estimated membership (by police) of 2,000 members.

“Our crime is nothing more than a little percentage of what white collar people do,” he said.
“[Bikers] get the blame for a majority of the crime committed in Australia, yet we make up 0.3 per cent of all crime committed,” said his son Alex Vella Jnr (above), also a member of the Rebels, who spoke to the ABC while visiting his father in Malta.

But in Federal Court documents obtained by the ABC, the Government has alleged the Rebels are “high threat to the Australian community”.

“Between January 2012 and June 2013, 718 Rebels members, nominees and associates were either reported or arrested in relation to 1,211 charges for offences ranging from violence-related offences (including serious assault, stalking, kidnapping and affray), firearms and weapons offences, drugs offences, and property, street and traffic offences.

“The Rebels MC have remained cohesive and disciplined through Mr Vella’s strong leadership,” the documents read.

Superintendent Wallace is the also the chair of Operation Morpheus, an anti-biker taskforce made up of state and Commonwealth law enforcement agencies.

“We’ve certainly charged [Rebels] with fraud, intimidation, extortion, kidnapping, attempted murder, murder. Alex Vella is synonymous with the Rebels, ” she said.

“Why should I take responsibility for [a club member] who done wrong?” Mr Vella countered.
“That’s for the law to do their job, not me.”
“Members of the motorcycle club aren’t saints obviously,” Alex Vella Jnr added.

“But to brand them all criminals is just like saying all Catholics are paedophiles.”

Mr Vella and his legal team are seeking special leave before the High Court because they say the Rebels president has been denied natural justice under the Migration Act. In March this year, Mr Vella appealed to the full bench of the Federal Court to set aside the Immigration Minister’s decision. During proceedings, Justice Robert Buchanan questioned the provisions in the Act being used by the Minister, saying he found “it curious that Parliament thinks it can exclude part of the exercise of the judicial power”. Questioning the section of the Act that allows the minister to keep information secret on the say-so of intelligence services such as ASIO, Justice Geoffrey Flick remarked that “it strikes me as absurd”, adding that “this case has got an air of unreality to it.”

Despite these concerns, the full bench of the court upheld the right of the Immigration Minister to keep Government evidence against Alex Vella secret because it was “protected information”.

“The Minister concedes that, in making the decision, he acted on adverse information that he did not divulge to Mr Vella,” the judges wrote.

“He says, however, that there was no denial of natural justice because the adverse information was information, by reason of [section] 503A of the Act, he was not required to divulge to Mr Vella … In short, the Minister says that [section] 503A of the Act overrides any natural justice requirement to divulge the adverse information.”

“It’s a bunch of lies behind it, that’s why,” Mr Vella said.

“Why would you want to hide something if a man’s done wrong? Tell them. Tell the public what I’ve done. What’s so secret about it?”

Immigration Minister Peter Dutton would not comment on the Vella case but said outlaw motorcycle club members were at the top of his hit-list for deportation, adding that 16 bikers had had their visas cancelled since December last year.

“People who head outlaw motorcycle gangs, people who are involved in the organization and facilitation of criminal activities by their members, well and truly are caught within the character test and provisions of the Act,” he said.

“They become the target of us trying to clean up our visa system to make sure we maintain integrity in the visa system and exclude these people from our society.”

Having lost twice in the Federal Court, Mr Vella’s legal team now has one shot left to get the visa cancellation overturned and the Rebels leader back to Australia.

“It would be premature for me to say he’s got good prospects or bad prospects, especially in light of the fact that we haven’t even heard what the High Court wants to do,” Peter Webb, one of Mr Vella’s lawyers, said.

Mr Vella’s wife Heather said the cost of failure for the family would be devastating.
“We’d be split. Australia is his home, that’s where we all are – his kids, our grandkids, his mum. His mum is terrified that she’s never going to see him again,” she said.

Mr Vella also hit back at police claims that his stranding in Malta had thrown the club into turmoil. “We are also seeing members handing in their colors, which is a very symbolic gesture to say we’re done, we’re finished,” Superintendent Wallace said.

Giving the ABC a tour of his family’s village in northern Malta, Mr Vella scoffed at suggestions the Rebels had become a rabble.

“We got over 88 chapters. Since I’ve been here we’ve got over 90 new members to the club. So it’s really growing,” he said.

“We’re gaining more than we’re losing. Whether I’m there or not, the club will still go on.”

JIMS NEWS: Sponsor Profile Kade Gates FXR Stunt Rider–

Being sponsored by JIMS is no small thing to an up and coming, very talented Harley stunt rider by the name of Kade Gates.

Its not often that you’ll see an FXR rider grind his taillight down to a nub, or even more dramatic, rip it off during the course of a riding session. But in the world of the Unknown Industries riders, of which Kade is a member, it’s simply not a session “well -done”, if something along those lines doesn’t occur.

Motor mounts, suspension pieces, engines are stressed to the max by riders like Kade, one of the reasons that he’s chosen to work with JIMS for his engine needs.

Working closely with Greg, son of JIMS founder, Jim, Kade is having a fire breathing JIMS 120, wheelie monster motor, hand built by Greg and his team of HP alchemists.

With his distinctive FXR, painted by Schultz Designz, Kade is a sight to behold when he’s on the job, peeling the skin off of his tires, the job made easier by this new JIMS motor.

Stay tuned for more wheel-spinning, front tire in the sky madness from the Kade Gates & JIMS collaboration.

RETURN TO THE BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY– A woman and her twelve-year-old son were riding in a taxi in Detroit. It was raining and all the prostitutes were standing under awnings.

“Mom,” said the boy, “what are all those women doing?”

“They’re waiting for their husbands to get off work,” she replied.

The taxi driver turns around and says, “Geez lady, why don’t you tell him the Truth? They’re hookers, boy! They have sex with men for money.

“The little boy’s eyes get wide and he says, “Is that true Mom?”

His mother, glaring hard at the driver, answers in the affirmative. After a few minutes, the kid asks, “Mom, if those women have babies, what happens to them?”

“Most of them become taxi drivers,” she said.

QUICK DIAL IN THAT BENDIX–
You know when all the stars allign and all is good with cosmos ! I dialed my old adjustable Bendix in on my old Shovel. It had been sitting for awhile waiting on finances to pay off California DMV.

I decided to run down to the corner to gas up the old girl. I took off down the street in the hot rod style like a good Shovel should be run, rounded a couple of corners, hit the main, and street grabbed second gear.

I started to pull the front wheel up and the torque for a perfect dialed carb and motor and snapped the chain. Pushed it back to the house for about three blocks and the funny part about it is that a neighbor said to me, ” it isn’t suppose to run like that?” He refered to me pushing my bike back to the house.

I said, “It is suppose to run exactly like that.”

You should have seen the confused face on his face. It just goes to show that I would rather push a Harley than ride a Jap bike.

NEW TO BANDIT’S CANTINA– Every once is a while at a rally, you run into people that have nothing but fun in their heart. A few years back, I ran into this Gal at the Buffalo Chip. Brit was her name, full of energy all day, all night.

We took her over to the fields before the Broken Spoke and had a little fun shootin’. Enjoy the pics, she did a great job and it showed in the pics.

UNDERHANDED STURGIS RUN COMING RIGHT UP– I raided Wall Mart for paper plates, coffee cups, napkins, paper towels, red plastic, cups, plastic silverware, charcoal, coffee… that kind of stuff. I figured we could grill steaks one night anyway. Maybe we can grab some steaks, fruit and stuff there.

There are only the four of us in the cabin. There are two beds and two sleeper sofas, but I will bring one pad to sleep on, just in case the couch is less comfortable than the floor.

I think we are good unless I hear from y’all. I am loading the trailer tomorrow and then James is taking off with it. I will catch up to the trailer in a couple weeks.

Quotes
As they work hard at defining themselves as different from their parents and most other over-thirties, as they become increasingly allegiant to their peer group and push for greater autonomy, young adolescents almost inevitably get into conflict with their moms and dads over much of the business of daily life.
— Kenneth Rubin with Andrea Thompson, The Friendship Factor, 2002
Origin
Allegiant comes from the word allegiance and the combining form -ant, which forms adjectives and nouns from verbs, as in the word servant.

NEW YOU-TUBE AD FROM HARLEY-DAVIDSON—
This brings up a story from and old outlaw, Zack. He always built bikes with sissybars to pack the ladies. “All the other guys wanted to look cool, but I wanted to take a girl home,” Zack said. “I always ran a p-pad or a passenger seat and passenger foot pegs. It never missed the beat.”

UNCLE MONKEY ON ROAD STORIES–“I yelled ‘Duck!’ and of course she had to look over my shoulder to see just as I took the duck off the shoulder…” As they stood before me his Old Lady’s look said she still hadn’t forgave him. It was one of many stories we collect as we ride across this great nation. Stories of foolishly trying to ride through golf ball size hail, stories of creeping up the highway through a mountain pass oblivious to the warnings of snow in the higher altitudes.

A quick beer stop in some dusty town where we never do leave setting down roots that we never knew we had. Pretty girls in dive bars, upper class girls who would make a $2 hooker blush once they let their hair down. A million miles, a million stories.

Riding puts us into the world, a living breathing part of it. We feel the shifts in the weather, smell the rain on the wind. The earth embeds into our pores, into our souls. We are open to it, accepting of it. We understand when the grasshoppers are thick what it means to the farmer’s crops and not that it just means more time at an automated car wash. We are the soul of a nation, the part of freedom that clings to the ideals of fore father’s and explorers.

Our stories make up the quilt of this nation. Many of them are good stories of conquests and friendship. Many of the bad ones, like my friend’s duck, are recalled fondly, a badge of honor of time spent on the road.

The sad ones fortify us; remind us why we are so blessed to be here and now. A biker always puts a positive spin on it not focused on the loss but on the good times spent before their time was cut short. We’ve all shared stories around a campfire, across a table with some cold beers, at the fuel pumps of a gas stop.

We are part of the story whether it is running through irrigation sprinklers on the way to Sturgis or bouncing an Indian down dirt roads during the Great Depression in search of work, in search of a better life.

We feel it in our bones, feel it in our souls because we have felt that cool spray wafting across the road, have felt the jarring of a pothole that exceeded what even our modern suspension can handle. So share your stories, kick back at soak them in like I do. Tales of bloody broken noses, of kisses snatched and vice versa because they are as much a part of the road as the asphalt and the arching sun.

LUCAS OIL TARGETS SOUTH OF THE BORDER– Rockstar Energy ‘South of the Border Battle’ Off-Road Race – Aug 1-2

On Saturday and Sunday, August 1-2, the best short-course off road racers and teams in the world will head south of the border to Mexico to make history at the inaugural two-day the Rockstar Energy “South of the Border Battle.”

The event, on the new Baja International Short Course at Estero Beach, Baja California, Mexico, will be rounds 11 and 12 of the 2015 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series presented by GEICO. The four professional classes – Pro 2, Pro 4, Pro Lite and Pro Buggy – will compete outside the U.S for the first time. The races will be run on a purpose-built, 1-mile track complete with whoops, berms, jumps and high-speed straightaways before an anticipated audience of more than 10,000 very knowledgeable off-road racing fans. MAVTV Motorsports Network will televise all the action from the resort facility about 8 miles south of the city of Ensenada.

“Mexico is a very important market for Lucas Oil,” said Lucas Oil Products, Inc., Executive Vice President, Bob Patison. “Six of our top 100 global customers are based in Mexico, so we are very excited to be able to export two rounds of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series across the USA/Mexico border for the first time.”

Both the Pro 2 and Pro 4 classes are expected to be hotly contested by fields of off-road racing giants. Many of the top contenders race both short course and the much longer distances of the Baja 500 and Baja 1000 over natural desert terrain and they will be running against some younger stars for whom racing in Baja is more legend than fact.

Veterans include Las Vegas’s Rob MacCachren, with more than 200 short course and desert victories including the 2013 and 2010 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Pro 2 championships as well as the 2014 Baja 1000, and X Games star and Freestyle Motocross pioneer Brian Deegan – who has claimed six Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series titles in Pro 2 and Pro Lite.

Kyle LeDuc, from Beaumont, Ca., captured his second Pro 4 championship in 2014 and is continuing his winning ways while leading the 2015 Pro 4 standings. Other established stars involved in tight battles in either Pro 2 or Pro 4 or both include multi-time champion Carl Renezeder of Laguna Beach, Ca., and former “King Of Supercross” Jeremy McGrath of Encinitas, Ca.

Up and coming stars sure to figure in the 2015 Championships include Bryce Menzies of Las Vegas, RJ Anderson of Riverside, Ca. and hometown star Rodrigo Ampudia, whose Pro 2 truck flies the colors of Ensenada’s iconic “Papas&Beer” cantina.

“The Rockstar Energy ‘South of the Border Battle’ will be a milestone in closed-course off road racing,” Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Director Ritchie Lewis said. “The Baja fans are so knowledgeable and partisan, and with ‘favorite son’ Rodrigo Ampudia currently in the top five in the Pro 2 standings we expect racing fireworks.”

POT IS COOL, New study shows marijuana use does not cause traffic accidents–

A report by the Jerusalem Institute for Market Studies that disproves myths about marijuana use will be presented to Knesset members.

There is no direct causal connection between marijuana consumption and an increased risk of involvement in traffic accidents, says a report by the Jerusalem Institute for Market Studies prepared for the hearing of the Knesset Committee of Drug and Alcohol Abuse which will be held today. The report refutes a host of other myths associated with the use of soft drugs.

The report presents an updated status of marijuana consumption in Israel and the potential effects of its legalization. According to the report, marijuana is less dangerous than alcohol and prescription drugs. Alcohol consumption, for example, increases the risk of being involved in accidents three to four times.

The Jerusalem Institute is also trying to disprove the notion that marijuana leads to the use of hard drugs. Research presented in the report shows that in states that support non-incrimination or legalization of marijuana, there was a decrease in the use of hard drugs.

The findings suggest that marijuana use is common among all demographics and the rate is even higher among those with a university education, people with average incomes and higher. According to a survey by the research institute and information that was published last month, the rate of marijuana use among those aged 18-40 increased in the last year from 7.6% to 10.2%.

The report by Corinne Sauer, Maya Duec, and Rebecca Sauer also showed that among adolescents in their final years of high school, the rate of use was 5.9% in the last year. The Institute believes that criminalizing youth reduces their employment and military opportunities.

“The report from the Jerusalem Institute makes an important and substantial correction to some erroneous assumptions that have misled the public for a long time,” said chairwoman of the Committee of Drug and Alcohol Abuse, MK Tamar Zandberg. “The committee will deal with this issue by relying on data and studies that checked the effects of marijuana and its regulation.”

“Many countries around the world are already on the way to non-incrimination and there is no reason not to learn from their experiences on the issue rather than clinging to prejudices,” she added. “The current law turns hundreds of thousands of normal citizens into criminals and it is time to change it.”

THE BATTLING BOYS OF BENGHAZI–
We’re the battling boys of Benghazi.
No fame, no glory, no paparazzi.
Just a fiery death in a blazing hell
defending our country we loved so well.

It wasn’t our job, but we answered the call,
fought to the Consulate and scaled the wall.
We pulled twenty Countrymen from the jaws of fate.
Led them to safety, and stood at the gate.

Just the two of us, and foes by the score,
But we stood fast to bar the door.
Three calls for reinforcement, but all were denied,
So we fought, and we fought, and we fought ’til we died.

We gave our all for our Uncle Sam,
But Barack Obama didn’t give a damn.
Just two dead seals who carried the load.
No thanks to us………we were just “Bumps In The Road”.

RUN FOR YOUR LIFE—What a scramble between building projects, writing books, Bonneville, Sturgis, and feeding the dogs, cat, and macaw. But I’m a lucky mofo once more and one of my five wives returned to the fold.

There’s a lot of shit to deal with around the massive Bikernet ghetto, intergalactic headquarters and nerve center. Hell, we could spend a week fighting fleas and fruit flies.

We are currently testing the Wheeler Work Station. I’m scrambling to complete the SmokeOut report, and I need to write another tech on my Progressive shock study.

Jon Towle called and complained about missing a couple of Nick the Dick cartoon strips. I’ll find them, and then there’s Fred’s book project.

Hang On,
