HOT JUNE ACTION BIKERNET WEEKLY NEWS for May 31, 2018

Hey,

I wish I knew what I was doing today. I’m going to have a meeting with the California Motorcycle Dealers Association boss about my letter to the California Air Resources Board and what the hell we can do for motorcycling. I’ll publish the report on Bikernet next week. It will blow your mind.

I’m trying to figure out June with Father’s day, Born Free, Hot Rod swap meets (I’m searching for the perfect truck), the Loser Machine garage sale, and a trip to Deadwood to look at an old house.

We are working with Hal Robinson’s ex on an exclusive line of T-Shirts and limited edition prints of his line drawings. He worked for Easyriders back in the early days and was an amazing artist. You’ll see.

The Bikernet Weekly News is sponsored in part by companies who also dig Freedom including: Cycle Source Magazine, the MRF, Las Vegas Bikefest, Iron Trader News, ChopperTown, BorntoRide.com and the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum. Most recently the Smoke Out and Quick Throttle Magazine came on board.

THE OCC GUYS IN TROUBLE AGAIN–Just to clear the Air. There are a few events at OCC. I am not doing the events I have done there three times a year for the last three years because they haven’t paid me the approximately $4,000.00 they owe me. So much for supporting and respecting Veterans like they claim to do I guess until they owe them money.

The events they produce are with cars and motorcycles have NOTHING to do with our Border Wars Events. Our Border Wars events are now being held at Stormville Airport June 9th and September 28th and as usual the Proceeds will benefit our veterans.

Mr Tuttle knows I am a Marine Corps Veteran and our event raised money for veterans who are part of our show. So much for OCC Respect For Our Veterans!!!

I hate Hypocrites, cheats and liars. See you at our Border Wars Events at Our New Location Stormville NY. Hope To See You There or June 9th and September 29th and as usual the Proceeds will benefit Our Veterans.

SPEED TRAP AT CROSSROADS–
Parkers Crossroads is a quiet little Tennessee hamlet (pop. 330) adjacent to Interstate 40, located about midway between Memphis and Nashville. Blink for an instant and you might miss Exit 108, the only direct access to Parkers Crossroads from the interstate, as you motor by.

Not too many have had to worry about that, though, because the PC police-and by that we don’t mean“politically correct” police-have stopped more than their share of passersby for alleged speeding infractions. Parkers Crossroads has gained a notorious reputation on our Speedtrap.org website; drivers have voted at a rate of more than 125:1 that it is indeed a speed trap.

An I-40 traveler recently fought back after being ticketed and, as a thank you to the NMA and as a service to his fellow drivers, he posted on Speedtrap a do-it-yourself legal antidote for the Parkers Crossroads sting. This type of valuable shared information for motorists is exactly why the NMA developed The National Speed Trap Exchange and its cousin site, The Roadblock Registry, as free online forums for the driving community.

Here is the helpful advocate’s Parkers Crossroads post, edited for clarity. The NMA makes no guarantees that adherence to these instructions will result in the dismissal of a citation.

Any citations issued by Parkers Crossroads on I-40 lack legal standing and should therefore be dismissed at no cost to the accused. That is in fact what was determined by the City Judge after I submitted the documents described below. The Judge was very reasonable. He recognized the legal issue presented, and not only dismissed my citation, but asserted he would make sure Parkers Crossroads law enforcement was made aware that they should not be making traffic stops on I-40.

If the judge follows through, perhaps this will no longer be a concern for anyone, but if it weren’t for this website (Speedtrap.org), I might never have gone looking and learned all of this. So, I wanted to share what I learned as a thank you and as a help to others if needed.

Near exit 108 of I-40, officers park along this short stretch of low hills where they can hide, particularly well at night. A bridge around Mile 110 seems to be a favorite. If you are pulled over driving on the interstate and written a citation by Parkers Crossroads police, rather than by a State Trooper or perhaps even a Henderson County Sheriff’s Officer, you have grounds for dismissal. This small municipality is not authorized to enforce the Rules of the Road on Interstate 40.

If you find yourself in this position, consider sending the following to the P.O. Box provided on the citation along with the materials described:

–NMA

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing with regard to Citation No. ____issued on Interstate 40 by the municipality of Parkers Crossroads. Included with this letter are documents from the State of Tennessee and the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security showing that Parkers Crossroads has not been authorized to enforce the Rules of the Road on Interstate 40. I am requesting that the citation in question be dismissed.

Documentation of relevant Tennessee law:

Tennessee House Bill 1863 (pdf)
Passed April 21, 2014, amends Tennessee Code Anotated Title 55:
As enacted, revises provisions governing the enforcement of certain traffic offenses on interstate highways by municipalities; removes the authority for certain municipalities to so enforce the rules of the road.

Amendment No. 1 to HB 1863 (pdf)
This amendment adds the following language to the appropriate section of Title 55:
No municipality having a population of ten thousand (10,000) or less, according to the 2010 federal census or any subsequent federal census, and with at least two (2) entrance ramps to and at least two (2) exit ramps from an interstate highway shall be authorized to enforce chapter 8 of this title and §§ 55-10-101 – 55-10-310 when the contiguous stretch of the interstate highway between such entrance and exit ramps does not lie solely within the territorial limits of the municipality.

Call the Tennessee Department of Safety Commissioner (615) 251-5166 and request a copy of any documents regarding the Interstate Authority Agreement for Parkers Crossroads, TN. You will be directed to send this request via email along with a copy of your drivers license, and if you do so, you should receive a document that concludes with the statement “This office has no responsive documents with regard to your request” meaning that no authorization to enforce the Rules of the Road on any stretch of the interstate has been granted to the municipality in question.

Review the municipal requirement in the provided documents, and if you get a citation anywhere else in Tennessee where there could be a question of authority to police the interstate, request their Interstate Authority Agreement from the Department of Safety and you might find similar grounds for dismissal.

MOTORCYCLE RIDERS FOUNDATION EXECUTIVE & REGULATORY UPDATES – What is “Safe Enough” for Automated Vehicles

A few things on this subject…this week I sat in a briefing concerning automated vehicles and motorcycles. One of the points that was hit home by several of the panelists was preliminary data showing that autonomous vehicles testing was proving to be significantly safer than human drivers.

Some fast facts for you: since Google has been testing its self-driving car since 2009, there have been 19 crashes. And the majority of those were incidents in which the Google car was rear-ended…and in most states that’s the fault of the (human) driver behind. One more fun fact? Those 19 crashes are out of 5 million miles driven. I have to say, that’s a pretty good track record.

But let’s set that aside for a moment – what about cars already on the road with some elements of this technology (things like automatic emergency braking, lane assist, etc.) THAT’s the area we need more information on. And Virginia Tech is working on it…

The school is finishing work on a study of 120 drivers who were given level 2 automated vehicles for a month to drive around the Washington area as part of a contract with NHTSA. Researchers are particularly interested in seeing if people misused the automated features, disused them because they were skeptical or started to do secondary, distracting tasks. Virginia Tech is expected to submit its findings to NHTSA by July 30. We’ll let you know what comes out of it.

MRF NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS – A Kick ASS Bikers Inside the Beltway & MAC NOTICE!

MAC Stuff first – Last week the 2nd MAC meeting (that’s the Motorcyclist Advisory Council) was announced. It has been set for Thursday June 7 from 9am to 1pm. EST. The last one was in December and in-person. This one is online, making it easier for those who are interested to listen in from their home, office, garage, bar, whatever.

The catch is that you MUST register to do this and you must do so by TOMORROW, Saturday May 26. (okay but seriously, if you are going to participate, please don’t call in from the bar.) If you don’t register by tomorrow, the Federal Highway Administration is under no obligation to provide you with log in credentials to attend.

Here is how to do it – send an email to MAC-FHWA@dot.gov and let them know you are interested in listening in to the MAC Meeting scheduled for June 7. They will send you a set of instructions on how to create an account to register. Let me know if you have questions….

It’s been radio silence from me for the past few weeks – Congress had a mini-recess and then I was eyeballs deep in Bikers Inside the Beltway prep. But on that note, we had an epic BITB this year. We counted over 160 participants at one point, had 30+ states represented, directly met with HUNDREDS of lawmakers and their staff, and welcomed almost 40 Bikers Inside the Beltway virgins; many of which were there to represent their MC and give personal accounts of profiling instances.

I haven’t heard a bad word yet about the event from our folks or those outside our organization. On the contrary, I’ve received dozens of emails and phone calls from staffers wanting more information or letting me know they ride or their boss rides, we’ve added five co-sponsors to the profiling resolutions (and are still counting), rallied more support on the RPM Act and (see item 1) got an ethanol bill that focuses on consumers up for consideration.

I would say that’s a pretty solid track record. For those who came, I didn’t say it enough – thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I know in many cases, you spent your own money, took your own vacation days, braved a truly torrential downpour to get in and out of D.C. and gave those 2 days the energy, passion and momentum that will resonate in this town for months to come. I appreciate it. Tiffany appreciates it. And your MRF Board of Directors appreciates it.

A personal story if you will indulge me…many of you know I am active with a group in D.C. called Women in Government Relations. I chair one of their task forces and provide (voluntary) leadership to this group of women lobbyists. Last night we had our Spring Reception, and I was talking to a group of people and when I mentioned our BITB event from last week, one woman (the lobbyist for Amazon!) said, “Those are YOUR guys?!?! I LOVE THOSE GUYS!” Yep. Those are my guys (and girls!)

NEW HARLEY-DAVIDSON TRIPLE VENT SYSTEM JACKETS– Keep Rolling this Summer with Maximum Comfort & Rebellious Style

If a rider buys one jacket this summer, make sure it is the one with the most advanced air management system in the market. The Harley-Davidson Triple Vent System line of jackets are available in both men’s and women’s leather and textile options and will handle almost anything Mother Nature throws at them.

H-D patented, designed and wind tunnel tested to provide best in class venting on all Harley-Davidson motorcycles, the Triple Vent System gives customized comfort no matter the temperature. The Triple Vent System keeps riders and passengers cool by maximizing airflow with dozens of ways to adjust the cooling upward air current from front to back.

Featuring three strategically placed vents on each side of the body with stay-open snap tabs that enable extra-wide vent openings, Triple Vent System jackets dial in the perfect amount of airflow. The jacket’s Triple Vent System includes three zippered vertical vents that allow customizable airflow that’s unaffected by backrests, fairings or passengers. Venting extends to the armpits to maximize airflow at speed and allows the jacket to breathe even when idling.

Visit a local dealer to try on the new Men’s H-D Triple Vent System Wick Twister Leather Jacket (P/N 98023-18VM, $495). Featuring mid-weight buffalo leather and a polyester mesh lining, the hip release zippers and action back elevate comfort of this jacket to a new level. Be sure to check out the body armor pockets at elbows and shoulders, and power-stretch action in the lightly padded back, waist and shoulders. Piping is 3M Scotchlite Reflective Material.

Or if rain showers are imminent, weather the storm with the Women’s Worden or Men’s Rutland Triple Vent System Riding Jackets (Women’s 98165-18VW, $295, Men’s P/N 98160-18VM, $335 ).

Both offer optimal cooling for when the skies do clear and the temperatures heat up again. These textile jackets are fully loaded with all the patented functional features of the TVS line to keep the journeys long and enjoyable.

Made from waterproof 100 percent polyester with body armor pockets at the elbows, shoulders and back to hold the optional accessory for impact protection, while 3M Scotchlite Reflective Material delivers enhanced visibility in low light conditions.

QUICK, OPEN THE BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY–Husband Store

A store that sells new husbands has opened in Melbourne, where a woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates:

You may visit this store ONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the value of the products increase as the shopper ascends the flights. The shopper may choose any item from a particular floor, or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!

So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband. On the first floor the sign on the door reads:

Floor 1 – These men Have Jobs

She is intrigued, but continues to the second floor, where the sign reads:

Floor 2 – These men Have Jobs and Love Kids.

‘That’s nice,’ she thinks, ‘but I want more.’
so she continues upward. The third floor sign reads:

Floor 3 – These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, and are Extremely Good Looking.

‘Wow,’ she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.

She goes to the fourth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 4 – These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Good Looking and Help With Housework.

‘Oh, mercy me!’ she exclaims, ‘I can hardly stand it!’

Still, she goes to the fifth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 5 – These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Gorgeous, Help with Housework, and Have a Strong Romantic Streak.

She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor , where the sign reads:

Floor 6 – You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please.
Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.

PLEASE NOTE:

To avoid gender bias charges, the store’s owner opened a New Wives store just across the street.

The First Floor has wives that love sex.

The Second Floor has wives that love sex and have money and like beer

The Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Floors
have never been visited.

INDIAN MOTORCYCLE’S SCOUT FTR750 CONTINUES ITS DOMINANCE BY SWEEPING TOP SEVEN IN BACK-TO-BACK RACES

Indian Motorcycle Privateer Jeffrey Carver Jr. Secures First Win Aboard Scout FTR750, Reigning Champion & Points Leader Jared Mees and Privateer Kenny Coolbeth Jr. Complete the Scout FTR750 Podium Sweep

Indian Motorcycle Racing’s Scout FTR750 continued its dominance at the legendary Springfield Mile, sweeping the top seven positions for the second consecutive race. Indian Motorcycle privateer and Illinois native, Jeffery Carver Jr. (Roof-Systems, Indian of Metro Milwaukee) captured his first win aboard the Scout FTR750.

Reigning Grand National Champion and current points leader Jared Mees continued his impressive season with a second-place finish. Indian Motorcycle privateer Kenny Coolbeth Jr. (Nila Racing/Columbia Avionics) found the podium for his fourth time this season as he finished third. The podium sweep marks the fourth consecutive race of an all-Scout FTR750 podium.

In a thrilling start, Carver, Mees, and Coolbeth battled for the top position along with Indian Motorcycle privateer Davis Fisher (RMR/Double D Performance). Carver fought his way to first and created a gap between him and the rest of the pack in the second half of the race. Mees secured second place by overtaking Fisher in the 20th lap, who ended up in the fourth spot after Coolbeth worked his way to third place.

“To get my first win of the season at the legendary Springfield Mile is truly special. The history here is incredible and it’s always been a race I have wanted to win,” said Carver. “My team had the Scout FTR750 dialed in. We’re putting it all together and it’s giving me the confidence to race hard.”

Of the 12 Scout FTR750’s competing in the Main, 11 finished inside the top 12 positions. Wrecking Crew rider Bryan Smith finished fifth, while Indian Motorcycle privateers Chad Chose (Indian Motorcycle of Oklahoma City) and Henry Wiles (Wilco Racing/Willy Built/Bandit Industries) placed sixth and seventh, respectively. AFT Singles rider Kevin Stollings, who won the Arizona Mile for Singles, jumped over to the Twins Class and finished 11th in his first race aboard the Scout FTR750.

“It’s awesome to see Jeffrey get his first win on the Scout FTR750. He’s been a fierce competitor this season so to see him and his team put it all together and get the win is fantastic,” said Gary Gray, Vice President – Racing, Technology & Service for Indian Motorcycle. “With back-to-back races of taking first through seventh, it’s clear many riders are feeling comfortable and confident on the Scout FTR750. With the Red Mile and OKC Mile approaching, it’s likely a few of these guys who have been close will break through and compete for that top podium position – just as Jeffrey did at the Springfield Mile.”

Through seven races this season, Mees remains at the top of the leaderboard with 145 points, while Wiles holds second-place with 101 points and Coolbeth in third with 90 points. Carver, Brad Baker, Fisher and Chad Cose currently sit fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth place, respectively.

The Indian Wrecking Crew and stable of privateers aboard the Scout FTR750 will continue its season on June 2 at the Red Mile. For more information on Indian Motorcycle Racing, backed by Allstate Insurance, the Indian Wrecking Crew and Scout FTR750, visit IndianMotorcycle.com and follow along on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram. WILDEST BAD COP REPORT OF THE WEEK–Police Officer Knocks Motorcyclist Off Bike With Cruiser Before Arrest In California

Southern California police officer on Sunday was recorded on video driving into a biker and knocking him off his motorcycle, angering fellow riders and sparking an investigation by the police department.
A group of motorcyclists claimed that a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer intentionally used his patrol car to clip a rider before he placed the man in handcuffs.

Cellphone video captured by an eyewitness shows the moment when the CHP cruiser hit the rider off his bike and onto the ground.
The bikers were riding eastbound on Freeway 210 in Rancho Cucamonga, a suburban city in San Bernardino County, en route to a fundraiser in honor of Memorial Day.

The rider, later identified as 26-year-old Raul Garcia, was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation before he was arrested on suspicion of felony evading and booked into the West Valley Detention Center, according to KABC, an ABC affiliate in Los Angeles. He suffered injuries including bruising to his left leg, shoulder and lower back from the collision.

According to a statement by the CHP, Garcia had been traveling at a “high rate of speed” at the time and “for unknown reasons, the left side of the Yamaha made contact with the right side of the patrol vehicle on 19th Street west of Carnelian Street.”

The bikers said they became angry after witnessing the crash and confronted the officer during the arrest. Rider Jose Figueroa claimed that the officer began to act aggressively toward Garcia while the group had been traveling.

“He panicked, you know? Our brother panicked, and he got out the way and sped up, tried to get out the way, and the cop chased him,” Figueroa told KCAL, a CBS affiliate in Los Angeles. “We pulled up to the liquor store, and that’s when he rammed him.”

Garcia’s family said they planned to take legal action against the police department.
“From what I saw from the video, you know, I [saw] my husband’s brake going on,” the rider’s wife, Desiree Garcia, told the news outlet. “It looked like he was, he was trying to pull over, and the cop just hit him out of nowhere.”

The incident remained under investigation as of Tuesday, according to the CHP. Garcia is scheduled to make a court appearance on Wednesday.

SONGS FOR MILLENNIALS–

Someday Never Comes
by John Fogerty

(Billy Valentine & The Forest Rangers version from 2011 is very good)

[Verse 1]
First thing I remember was asking papa “Why?”

For there were many things I didn’t know
And Daddy always smiled; took me by the hand
Saying, “Someday you’ll understand”

Well, I’m here to tell you now each and every mother’s son
You better learn it fast; you better learn it young
‘Cause Someday Never Comes

The time and tears went by and I collected dust
For there were many things I didn’t know
When Daddy went away, he said, “Try to be a man
And, Someday you’ll understand”

(Chorus)
Oh someday never comes

And then, one day in April, I wasn’t even there
For there were many things I didn’t know
A son was born to me, Mama held his hand
Saying “Someday you’ll understand”

(Chorus)
Ooh, someday never comes

Think it was September, the year I went away
For there were many things I didn’t know
And I still see him standin’, tryin’ to be a man
I said, “Someday you’ll understand”

(Chorus)
Oh someday never comes

WHITE HOUSE REPORT—I read a lot of stuff in the media, attacking the President. I often wonder who is telling the truth. Just the other day I received this from the White House, so I thought I would share it. It’s just interesting to receive something directly from the President.—Bandit

President Donald J. Trump is Confronting China’s Unfair Trade Policies
FOREIGN POLICY

QUOTE
From now on, we expect trading relationships to be fair and to be reciprocal.

President Donald J. Trump

YEARS OF UNFAIR TRADE PRACTICES: China has consistently taken advantage of the American economy with practices that undermine fair and reciprocal trade.

For many years, China has pursued industrial policies and unfair trade practices—including dumping, discriminatory non-tariff barriers, forced technology transfer, over capacity, and industrial subsidies—that champion Chinese firms and make it impossible for many United States firms to compete on a level playing field.

China’s industrial policies, such as its “Made in China 2025” plan, harm companies in the United States and around the world.
China imposes much higher tariffs on United States exports than the United States imposes on China.

China’s average tariff rate is nearly three times higher than the average United States rate.

Certain products are even more imbalanced, for instance the United States charges a 2.5 percent tariff on Chinese cars, while China currently maintains a 25 percent tariff on cars from the United States.

China has banned imports of United States agricultural products such as poultry, cutting off America’s ranchers and farmers from a major market for their goods.

China has dumped and unfairly subsidized a range of goods for the United States market, undermining America’s domestic industry.
In 2018 alone, the Trump Administration has found dumping or unfair subsidies on 13 different products, including steel wheels, cold-drawn mechanical tubing, tool chests and cabinets, forged steel fittings, aluminum foil, rubber bands, cast iron soil pipe and fittings, and large diameter welded pipe.
In January 2018, the Trump Administration found that China’s overproduction of steel and aluminum, and the resulting impact on global markets, is a circumstance that threatens to impair America’s national security.

The United States has run a trade in goods deficit with China for years, including a $375 billion deficit in 2017 alone.

UNDERMINING AMERICAN INNOVATION AND JOBS: China has aggressively sought to obtain technology from American companies and undermine American innovation and creativity.

The cost of China’s intellectual property theft costs United States innovators billions of dollars a year, and China accounts for 87 percent of counterfeit goods seized coming into the United States.

United States Trade Representative’s (USTR) Section 301 investigation identified four of China’s aggressive technology policies that put 44 million American technology jobs at risk:

Forced technology transfer;
Requiring licensing at less than economic value;
Chinese state-directed acquisition of sensitive United States technology for strategic purposes; and
Outright cyber theft.

China uses foreign ownership restrictions, administrative review, and licensing processes to force or pressure technology transfers from American companies.
China requires foreign companies that access their New Energy Vehicles market to transfer core technologies and disclose development and manufacturing technology.
China imposes contractual restrictions on the licensing of intellectual property and technology by foreign firms into China, but does not put the same restrictions on contracts between two Chinese enterprises.

China directs and facilitates investments in and acquisitions of United States companies to generate large-scale technology transfer.
China conducts and supports cyber intrusions into United States computer networks to gain access to valuable business information so Chinese companies can copy products.

STANDING UP TO CHINA’S UNFAIR TRADE PRACTICES: President Trump has taken long overdue action to finally address the source of the problem, China’s unfair trade practices that hurt America’s workers and our innovative industries.

In January 2018, the President announced his decision to provide safeguard relief to United States manufacturers injured by surging imports of washing machines and solar products.

This was the first use of Section 201 of the Trade Act of 1974 to impose tariffs in 16 years.

These actions responded to injurious trade practices by China and other countries, including attempts to avoid legally imposed antidumping and countervailing duties.
Following the decision, Whirlpool announced 200 new jobs in Ohio.

USTR and the Department of Commerce are working together to defend the right of the United States to continue treating China as a non-market economy in antidumping investigations until China makes the reforms it agreed to when it joined the World Trade Organization (WTO).

President Trump’s Administration has successfully litigated WTO disputes targeting unfair trade practices and upholding our right to enforce United States trade laws.

In February 2018, USTR won a WTO compliance challenge against China’s unfair antidumping and countervailing duties on United States poultry exports and China announced the termination of those duties.

PROTECTING AMERICAN INNOVATION AND CREATIVITY: President Trump has worked to defend America’s intellectual property and proprietary technology from theft and other threats.

In August 2017, the Administration initiated a Section 301 investigation into China’s practices related to forced technology transfer, unfair licensing, and intellectual property policies.

After USTR completed its Section 301 report in March 2018, the President directed the agencies to explore numerous actions to protect domestic technology and intellectual property.

Under President Trump’s leadership:
The United States will impose a 25 percent tariff on $50 billion of goods imported from China containing industrially significant technology, including those related to the “Made in China 2025” program. The final list of covered imports will be announced by June 15, 2018.

USTR will continue WTO dispute settlement against China originally initiated in March to address China’s discriminatory technology licensing requirements.

The United States will implement specific investment restrictions and enhanced export controls for Chinese persons and entities related to the acquisition of industrially significant technology. The list of restrictions and controls will be announced by June 30, 2018.

The building now known as Billy Bob’s Texas was built in 1910 and was once an open-air barn used to house prize cattle for the Fort Worth Stock Show.

In 1936, as a Texas Centennial Project, the building was enclosed by the City of Fort Worth at a cost of $183,500 and the tower over the main entrance was added. The “new” structure contained 1,257 animal stalls, and a 1,200-seat auction ring that is now the Billy Bob’s Bull Riding arena.

Livestock events were held here until the stock show moved to the Will Rogers Memorial Complex, in 1943. During World War II, the building was used as an airplane factory for the Globe Aircraft Corporation. In the 1950’s the building became a department store so large that the stock boys wore roller skates to make their jobs easier.

With 100,000 square feet of interior space and 20 acres of parking for entertainment and events, Billy Bob’s features 30 individual bar stations, Live Pro-Bull Riding, and a Texas size dance floor.

Billy Bob’s Live Pro-Bull Riding is sanctioned by Championship Bull Riding (CBR) and contestants compete every Friday and Saturday night. We’re talking real bulls – not mechanical!

While Billy Bob’s Texas is known for bringing in the biggest stars in Country music, it also has hosted some of the biggest names in Rock and Pop music, including: Ringo Starr, .38 Special, Men At Work, The Go-Go’s, Steppenwolf, REO Speedwagon, Styx, Pat Benatar, Heart, and ZZ Top. Even Ray Charles and Bob Hope graced the historically known stage of the World’s Largest Honky-Tonk.

USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor Closed Indefinitely–Damage to the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu was worse than expected and it will remain closed indefinitely, officials said.

Boat transportation to the attraction was suspended May 6 after one of the vessel operators noticed a crack on the outside of the memorial, Hawaii News Now reported.

Tourists were allowed to disembark at the memorial after crews completed interim repairs. But the cracks reappeared hours later, indicating a more serious issue.

“There is a brow or an edge where the visitor ramp meets the memorial, and at that point, there’s been some fissures located on the exterior,” said Jay Blount, a spokesman for the World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument. “After further investigation on the interior, it was determined that the structure is not supporting the loading ramp the way that we need.”

Engineers are working to figure out possible long-term solutions.

“The amount of time needed to implement the repairs is unknown, but the (National Park Service) will continue to provide information to the public as our team of specialists works together to restore access as soon as possible,” memorial staff said Friday in a news release.

Other areas of the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center remain open.

Rinehart Racing Expands MotoPro 45 Lineup with “Tradition” End Caps–Rinehart Racing expands its lineup of options for the popular MotoPro 45 Slip-On exhausts for Harley-Davidson Touring models with the addition of the new “Tradition” end caps.

Rinehart’s new Tradition end caps for the MotoPro 45 slip-on ehausts and MotoPro 45 Slimline Duals full system.

Paying homage to the legendary brand’s original end cap, the Tradition end caps feature a stripped down “back to basics” style. Compared to the standard end caps, which are accented by contrasting black or chrome bands, the Tradition end caps are uniform in color and ideal for riders looking to “chrome” or “black out” their bikes.

Tradition end caps are offered in black or chrome finishes.
The MotoPro 45 Tradition end caps are compatible with Rinehart’s 4.5-inch MotoPro 45 Slip-On exhausts. The Tradition end caps are offered in chrome or black to match or contrast the color options available on the slip-ons. Each system bolts on without requiring any modifications, and the Tradition End Caps install easily without any hardware or tools required.

The MotoPro 45 Tradition end caps are available as an option on both the MotoPro 45 Slip-On mufflers and MotoPro45 Slimline Duals full exhaust system, as well as separately for those riders that may be looking to upgrade their already-installed mufflers. Both the slip-on systems and end caps are now available through authorized Rinehart Racing dealers nationwide.

The reason hemp is illegal is not because of any negative impact to the environment or human health, but exactly the opposite. It is so environmentally friendly, nutritionally

Historical Use

Hemp is the most universally useful plant we have at our disposal. The history of mankind’s use of hemp can be traced way back in time to between about 5000 – 7000 BC. Remains of seed husks have been found at Neolithic burial sites in central Europe, which indicate that they were used in funeral rites and shamanic ceremonies. It is probable that at that time the distinctions between various strains were not as pronounced as they are today.

Up until and even during WWII, hemp was a widely grown crop, which provided the world with an excellent and most durable source of fibre. Since it is an annual with a growing cycle of only 120 days it can be harvested several times a year, depending on local weather conditions. Its biomass is considerable, which means that it absorbs large quantities of the greenhouse gas CO2.

It is resistant to bugs and requires little agrochemical treatment. It is extremely undemanding and can be grown in very poor conditions and depleted soils and will actually improve the soil structure over a period of years. For many centuries hemp was one of the most important industrial crops which provided the fibres for rope and tough, durable canvass without which the age of exploration could never have set sail.

In the US too, there have long been numerous rules and regulation in place regarding the cultivation of hemp. But unlike today’s regulations that strongly prohibit any cultivation of hemp, less than a century ago hemp cultivation was not just encouraged, but mandatory, with hefty fines being levied against farmers who refused. ‘Hemp for Victory’ was the government coined slogan that fuelled the last big bout of legal hemp cultivation during WWII, promoting hemp cultivation as a patriotic cause.

ALIBABA GROUP’S CAINIAO NETWORK AND ROBOSENSE ANNOUNCE WORLD’S FIRST SOLID-STATE LIDAR UNMANNED LOGISTICS VEHICLE–CHINA’S SOLID-STATE LIDAR PIONEERS DRIVERLESS DELIVERY VEHICLES

Alibaba’s Cainiao G Plus’s “G Plus” Unmanned Logistics Vehicle is Equipped with RoboSense MEMS Solid-State Laser Radar — Costs as Low as a Few Hundred Dollars

Alibaba Group’s Cainiao Network and RoboSense jointly released today G Plus, the world’s first solid-state LiDAR unmanned logistics vehicle. Announced at Alibaba Group’s Cainiao Network 2018 Global Smart Logistics Summit held today in Hangzhou, China, the most important feature of the newly announced G Plus driverless delivery vehicles is the solid-state LiDAR technology, the RS-LiDAR-M1Pre, developed by China’s RoboSense.

This is the first time that solid-state LiDAR has been officially used in the development of an unmanned vehicle, heralding the beginning of a new solid-state LiDAR era in driverless vehicles.

RoboSense has reached a strategic partnership with Alibaba to provide delivery vehicles with solid-state LiDARs for all G Plus unmanned logistics cars, drastically reducing the cost of the driverless vehicles. The vehicles can be mass-produced, allowing the rapid expansion of unmanned logistics vehicles and streamlining mass-market delivery logistics, for the rapid popularization of the vehicles.

The unmanned cars and trucks can also be equipped with different smart devices according to demand, turning the vehicle into a courier vehicle, a mobile self-pickup station, a mobile coffee vending cart, etc., which can be applied to various new retail scenarios.

3D Perception of the Driving Environment

The Alibaba’s Cainiao G Plus unmanned delivery vehicle is equipped with three RS-LiDAR-M1Pres, two in the front and one in the rear, to ensure the most powerful 3D perception of the driving environment. This allows unmanned delivery vehicles to clearly see the direction of travel, including the shape, distance, azimuth, travel speed, and direction of travel of pedestrians, cars, trucks, and other obstacles, as well as the exact areas on which roads can be driven, etc., to ensure the smooth flow of unmanned logistics vehicles in a complex road environment.

RoboSense LiDAR Costs as Low as a Few Hundred Dollars

The RS-LiDAR-M1Pre is the first MEMS solid-state LiDAR launched by RoboSense. The world’s first solid-state LiDAR equipped in an unmanned vehicle, the technology was first publicly presented and demonstrated at CES 2018 in Las Vegas. The technology’s outstanding results and advancements have already attracted widespread attention in the industry.

BAD COP FILES STILL OPEN–Central Florida police officer charged in sextortion case. Victim says someone tried to extort nude photos from her using death threats

Detectives on Tuesday arrested a Florida police officer accused of trying to extort nude pictures from a Georgia woman over social media.

Joshua David Fancher, 25, was taken into custody on a Lowndes County, Georgia warrant charging him with making terroristic threats, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

Fancher resigned from his position with the Orange City Police Department after learning of the charges Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office stated in a news release.

The charges stem from a complaint filed by a woman who said she received numerous messages on Instagram from a stranger, threatening to kill her and her family if she didn’t provide nude photos.

Fancher’s apartment in Deland was searched Tuesday as part of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office’s investigation. He was booked into the Volusia County jail.
