Whitehorse Press hits another one out of the ballpark with The Complete Guide to Motorcycling Colorado. Subtitled The Definitive Reference for ALL the Best Roads, Rides, and Tips author Steve Farson brings the roads and scenery of Colorado to life in 448 pages. Filled with maps and more than 300 illustrations in a 6” x 9” paperback you can take this book along on your Colorado adventure. Steve breaks the state into seven sections that are color coded to make them easy to find in the book. There is a regional overview for each section, followed by a list of numbered, named recommended rides with a small map for each ride. The end of each section covers recommended rides and ends with a list of favorite rides broken down further into more specific interests.
The only drawback is the maps are small. A smart rider could load these routes into a GPS and ride to their hearts content.

There & Back Again To See How Far It Is : Cultural observations of an Englishman aboard a Harley-Davidson motorcycle around small-town America.
I hated this book when I first began reading it. This guy should NOT be on a motorcycle. Author Tim Watson admits early on that motorcycles “have an ability to terrify me and elate me at the same time.” His main reason to ride seems to be to have a drink with the terrifying bikers he sees in a roadhouse just outside Phoenix. I had to set this book aside for a time until curiosity drove me back to try to read it again.
I then realized what the problem was, I found out the problem was me. I had forgotten how to appreciate English humor. The guy is a twit. He knows he is a twit. He seems to revel in being a twit. At one point he recounts talking to an English tourist and barely getting a word in edgewise. His fellow Englishman leaves without realizing he was talking to the only other Englishman in Idaho. He rides over a rattlesnake on purpose, runs out of gas and rides across the desert in the summer in the daytime. The unsung hero of this book is his long suffering wife who follows him on her own ride, presumably to call the coroner when needed. There and Back again is an amusing book by an outsider looking at America from the inside.
