Bakersfield Pinstriper Discovered

Well, I finally got a wild hair and decided my old Softail needed a little something extra for Sturgis this year. For the past couple of years I’ve attended about two dozen or so bike and hot rod shows. I’m always on the lookout for talent and possible paint schemes for the bikes. That’s when I met “Diablo,”

a local So Cal pinstripe artist out of Bakersfield, Ca.. I checked out his work, talked to people in the pinstripe world and found out that this guy was self taught, a true artist doing his interpretation of his art form. So I gave him a jingle, and to my surprise, he comes to you if need be. Unlike other artists’ who basically work the shows and events, Diablo is ”Have Brush, Will Travel.” We made an appointment and what do you know, he shows up right on time, wow! I had already looked his work over on a couple of web sites including his my space site, so I a theme notion in my mind. We talked it over for a while and then I let him rip, doing his interpretation of my ideas.

As you can see, the dude is intense when he’s at work, actually we had a lot of fun. Some friends came over and we all kicked it in the garage while Diablo did his creative thing. My wife stopped in and bought us lunch from the local greasy burger joint. All in all, it was a pleasant afternoon.

Total he worked my 2003, 100 anniversary Softail over for about five hours, give or take a beer or two. I love the outcome, but more important, I really enjoyed having Diablo in my garage, you couldn’t ask for more cool or talented guy. all the world’s troubles eludes him when he has a brush in his hand, and it shows.

I snapped a few pictures for prosperity. Hope you enjoy the article.
