It is with a heavy heart that we report the passing of French cartoonist Coyote. An avid biker and a beautiful human being, Coyote reportedly died on Sunday of a heart attack at age 53. Coyote rose to fame in the 90’s as an illustrator for French motorcycle magazine Freeway. He was famous for inserting outrageous characters over the featured bikes on the magazine’s cover. Coyote’s work went further as he published the adventures of Mammouth & Piston, a cantankerous old-school biker and his pet rat. Later on, he penned a series of book called Litteul Kévin (Little Kevin as pronounced in French).
Coyote dreamed of having his work published in Easyriders Magazine. Back when I was working there, I was lucky enough to help facilitate it. He was offered to illustrated a piece of fiction and was ecstatic. He felt as he had arrived, even though he was already a popular and accomplished artist.
Ride easy, Coyote!
