Harley-Davidson Inc. and Polaris Industries Inc. are unquestionably the American leaders in motorcycle manufacturing and powersports vehicle manufacturing, respectively.
But who has the better upside?
Don’t take it personally, Milwaukee, but that would be Medina, Minn.-based Polaris, according to Morningstar Inc. financial analyst Jaime Katz in Chicago.
Katz expects both to maintain their leading market share in their core businesses. For existing rivals to threaten crossing the “moat” and overtaking Harley-Davidson and Polaris, it would require “the introduction of a compelling, innovative product in a new category,” she said in a note to investors this week.
