The Hells Angels are dumping their infamous clubhouse on the Lower East Side — selling the building that had been their headquarters for half a century to a developer.
The clubhouse at 77 E. Third St. — aka the “Church of the Angels” — is being sold to East 3rd Street, a New York limited liability Corporation.
The firm is linked to Nathan Blatter of Whitestone Realty Group, a commercial real estate investor. No sale price was reported.
Over the decades, the Angels were a visible presence in the neighborhood, from hanging out at punk dive CBGB in the ’70s to loafing on a bench outside the club — which caused problems when non-Angels started using it.
Some of the bikers were also implicated in a 2016 shooting and in the 2018 beating of a deliveryman. Both beefs broke out over disputes about parking spots that the Angels claimed as their own.
The feds tried to seize the building after a drug bust in 1985, charging that bikers used the clubhouse to conduct drug deals. But a jury ruled against the move in 1994.
