Houston Bike Night At RB Customs

In a town the size of Houston it is quite possible to launch full-blown bike night every goddamn evening, who knows? I am aware of a couple on my side of town, one is at a restaurant, the other shines at the local H-D dealership, plus there is bike night at RB Customs.

Owner Roman, does not have his bike night once a week or hell even once a month, no he chooses to have his bike night once a year! A bit different than most, sure, but when you part from the norm you can do things a bit differently. So, Roman throws a kick-ass party, bringing in bands. This year the music was provided by who knows, I didn’t catch the band name. Wait, I found their flier, the Skylights. I did catch the local rock radio station 94.5 and its morning drive time DJ, Rod Ryan, who MC’d the event, who brought out his vendor selling the “Boobs Rock” tee shirts with 100% of the proceeds going to breast cancer research. Throw in a bike show and of course, the bikini contest and you’ve got a party!

I know you are saying, “but what about the adult libations Rigid?” That was covered as well. You see Roman’s place is right next door to Brothers Pizza, an excellent eating establishment which just happens to be owned and operated by a member of Roman’s family.

Since the local Constables on hand provided security you could place your order and walk back outside with a pizza and a pitcher of beer, so you did not need to miss any of the fun! I can tell you from experience, there is more than just great pizza; the lasagna is rocking as well! One of Roman’s cousins, EB, operates a different location and frequented the strip club I use to work at. He would bring us food!

As I was wandered around, I met a member of the Hellions Car Club. He handles all the detail work on anything rolling out of RB Customs. We got to talking, and he asked if I had checked out the Playboy bike yet? He took me over in the corner and rolled out a custom machine named “Dare Devil,” built by Knievel Custom Cycles to honor the historic jump at the Playboy Mansion. That in itself was damn cool, then he threw in the autographed by not only Kaptain Robbie Knievel, but by his dad Evel as well, very cool! Then I learned that this bike was the last thing Evel ever autographed prior to his passing and it became even more special!

I arrived as the night’s fun was scheduled to begin, while I was making ready the camera, two guys backed in beside me, just a few seconds apart. They realized that they knew each other, yet had not been in touch in ten years! While they were talking, I was listening and looking, thinking one of them sorta looked and sounded familiar? Finally, I asked him if he had ever lived in Austin. Turns out we use to work together and had not seen each other in 12 years, since the Little Red Rigid was the Little Primer Rigid! He told me another friend I had lost contact with would be coming down for the Lone Star Rally in November. You just never know who you might run into at bike night!

With the party in full swing, I heard the announcement that the bikini contest would be starting soon. Several of the contestants had already started working the crowd, doing some impromptu posing and dancing atop a couple of custom baggers.

As the bikini contest kicked into gear the crowd got even thicker, imagine that. With the six lovely ladies being reduced to the three finalists, it seemed a lock that one of the two Tiffanies would be the winner. As Rod Ryan brought the finalist out one last time to “work what they got,” a 9-year old young man was noticed on the front row of the crowd.

Rod inquired as to what the youngster’s thoughts were on what he had seen and if he liked it? Being a bit speechless for a moment, he soon recovered with a big “For sure!” Hell, I was bit speechless and it ain’t my first rodeo, something about the butt in that little yellow bikini!

Well turns out that the other Tiffany took home the money that balmy night. It was a fun time! As the bikini contest ended a portion of the crowd began to thin before the bike show ended, myself included.

I just had to go get some saddle time and dream about that yellow bikini. Hell, I never knew I liked the color yellow that much! Maybe next time Roman ought to have the bike show first?

Till next time,
