STURGIS RUN PLANNING NEWS FOR JULY 10, 2014

Hey,

Another crazy day in paradise. I’m trying to make some arrangements for Sturgis on a very limited budget. Then I watched the Ride Back or Easy Rider II last night, and I wanted to yank my FXR out of the shop and just ride out into the desert and hang out for weeks, moseying my way to Sturgis.

Then a note came in from Lee Clemens of Departure Bike Works. The Bonne Bell should be ready for Bonneville, but I may need to pick it up in Spearfish and bring it back. Holy shit. Daily the plans change.

I was thinking about hauling to Denver, to 2Wheelers and a Hamster party in the hills. Arlin and Donna will be in Sturgis at 2Wheelers on main setting up their shop for the rally.

I just sent 15 gift packs for the winners of the Cycle Source and J&P Bike Show in Sturgis. Our news is sponsored in part by Cycle Source, and Las Vegas Bike Fest. Of Course Las Vegas Bikefest is sponsored in part by Bikernet and Cycle Source. It’s all mixed up.

Let’s hit the news:

QUICK, OPENING THE BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY–Two women were sitting next to each other at a bar. After a while, one looks at the other and says, ‘I can’t help but think, from listening to ya, that you’re from Ireland.’

The other woman responds proudly, ‘Aye, I surely am!

The first one says, ‘So am I! And where about in Ireland are ya from?’

The other woman answers, ‘I’m from Dublin, I am.’ The first one responds,

‘So, am I!! And what street did yalive on in Dublin?’

The other woman says, ‘A lovely little area. It was in the west end. I lived on Warbury Street in the old central part of town.’

The first one says, ‘Faith and begorrah it’s a small world. So did I! So did I! And what school did ya go to?’

The other woman answers, ‘Well now, I went to Holy Heart of Mary, of course.’ The first one gets really excited and says, ‘And so did I! Tell me, what year did you graduate?’

The other woman answers, ‘Well, now, let’s see. I graduated in 1964.’

The first woman exclaims, ‘The Good Lord must be smiling down upon us! I can hardly believe our good luck at winding up in the same pub tonight! Can you believe it? I graduated from Holy Heart of Mary in 1964 me self!’

About this time, a regular, Michael, walks into the bar, sits down, and orders a beer. Brian, the bartender, walks over to Michael shaking his head and mutters, ‘It’s going to be a long night tonight, Michael.’

Michael asks, ‘Why do you say that, Brian?’ Brian answers, ‘The McGill twins are drunk again.’

THE ETHANOL CONTROVERSY–Global-Warming Bill Contains Ethanol Subsidies, Which Cause Famine, Hunger, Food Riots, and Political Unrest

by Hans Bader on June 7, 2010

People across the world “are being battered by surging food prices that are dragging more people into poverty, fueling political tensions and forcing some to give up eating meat, fruit and even tomatoes,” reports the Associated Press. High food prices are partly the result of “demand for crops to use in biofuels” like ethanol, which the government subsidizes.

Food prices will rise even further if the global warming legislation backed by President Obama passes, since it expands ethanol subsidies that reward big corporations for turning food into fuel. Ethanol subsidies damage the environment by wiping out forests, polluting water supplies, and eroding the soil. By converting food into fuel, they cause famines and food riots in the world’s poorest countries. That fuels Islamic extremism in Afghanistan and the Middle East.

President Obama, the biggest recipient of campaign cash from BP, is using BP’s oil spill to push for a global warming bill that is chock full of corporate welfare and environment-destroying ethanol subsidies. The bill was crafted by lobbyists for big companies like BP: “For years, BP has lobbied for climate change legislation, until recently running around with the U.S. Climate Action Partnership.” BP has a much worse safety and environmental record than most oil companies, which drill safely and avoid oil spills.

We will bring you more on the Ethanol problem with Brew dude’s article series starting next week on Bikernet.--Bandit

OCALA–$2.26M wrongful death award upheld by judge

A federal judge has upheld a jury’s $2.26 million wrongful death award against the Marion County Sheriff ’s Office in a case where two deputies shot and repeatedly shocked a suspect.

The Ocala Star-Banner reports that U.S. District Court Judge William Terrell Hodges upheld the jury’s verdict finding that the deputy who used a stun gun on the mortally wounded Joshua Salvato used excessive and objectively unreasonable force.

The 21-year-old Salvato died July 6, 2012 during a physical struggle with deputies.

The Iron Order Code–All Posts, News

In two conversations recorded earlier this year, Mike “Cgar” Crouse of Fayetteville, North Carolina, the International Sergeant at Arms of the Iron Order Motorcycle Club, made multiple statements indicating that Iron order members were encouraged to provoke confrontations with members of other motorcycle clubs because in Crouse’s words, such confrontations were a “free ticket” to “destroy.”

The Iron Order is alone among all three piece patch motorcycle clubs in encouraging its members to gain a strategic advantage in disputes with other clubs by tattling to police. In multiple instances, Iron Order President Ray “Izod” Lubesky has told his club’s members in writing, “We will cooperate with LE (law enforcement) and we will prosecute.”

There is a massive amount of evidence that indicates that the Iron Order feels free to provoke fights and even use deadly force against other motorcycle clubs with the foreknowledge that the Iron Order’s victims will not cooperate with police.

Honor Code

Most motorcycle clubs subscribe to a code of honor that includes precepts similar to the following.

“If you ever get arrested never make a statement of any kind. Don’t make the stupid mistake of trying to talk your way out of jail. All you’ll end up doing is telling on yourself or implicating Brothers or someone else. Always say you have nothing to say and you want to speak to an attorney.”

“If subpoenaed or questioned as a possible witness, never say anything adverse that would cause anyone to go to jail, even if it’s not a Brother.”

“If a local Law Enforcement Task Force wants to talk to you for any reason always take at least one other Brother with you. If you are wanted or questioned for possible criminal charges, take your lawyer and don’t tell them shit.”

“Remember, if you can save a member from doing a large amount of time by doing a small amount of time, then do it without hesitation. You may need someone to do it for you someday.”

“Never press charges on anyone. If you get in a street fight and a citizen calls the man, and you happen to be the victim you do not press charges. Never testify in court or a parole hearing as an adverse witness. You may testify as a friendly witness only.”

Iron Order Code

In a conversation about four months ago, the Iron Order International Sergeant at Arms said: “I know our club has the advantage. One percenters won’t call the cops. So what the fuck, destroy any fucker that confronts you. It’s a free ticket….”

The motorcycle club honor code is based on the premise that clubs will “handle their own business” when two clubs have a dispute. One nationally known member of a brand name motorcycle club has described biker justice as “swift and primal.” The American Outlaws Association has a proverb that describes biker justice as inevitable – “God Forgives Outlaws Don’t.”

The Iron Order has decided as a club that the threat of extra-judicial justice is hollow. In a conversation about three months ago Crouse bragged, “These people and clubs talk shit on the internet but they are like crickets. As soon as we come around they shut the fuck up.”

The Tipton Murder

The Iron Order has blatantly adopted a strategy of claiming territory and dominating clubs that “handle their own business.”

That is what happened in the June 26 murder of Black Pistons Motorcycle Club member Zachariah Tipton outside Nippers Beach Grille in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. An unnamed former police officer who was an Iron Order prospect and an unnamed accomplice awaited the arrival of Tipton and either two or three other members of the Black Pistons in order to intentionally provoke a dispute about the Iron Order’s insignia.

When the argument became a fist fight, one of the two Iron Order members drew a pistol and fired four shots. At least two of the shots struck Tipton in the face and another shot struck Tipton in the temple. Tipton was pronounced dead at the scene. His companions refused to cooperate with police. The police accepted the Iron order members’ account without question and the Iron Order members were immediately released.

Jacksonville Beach police have stonewalled the press about the shooting ever since and the Iron Order appears to have gotten away with murder

BIKERNET INTERNATIONAL EDITOR BREAKDOWN IN THAILAND–Well I did not get to go out last night as my driver was on standby to pick up a rider who’s bike broke.

Just as well – felt good to get 6 hrs sleep. Was chatting with one of the guys until midnight.
Up for 6:30 brkfst – packed and ready for departure at 8:30.

I was in the group line up and the starting horn sounded – then I noticed my right foot peg was missing.

The pack left and I stayed on for about 20 minutes until we got some bailing wire for a fixit.
Prior to the wire a group of locals with the mechanical aptitude of a first grader tried to rope it on.

The peg was laying back where I parked the bike overnight. The shaft had snapped off.
It could only have been done by the bike next to me clipping it when left.

Did I mention that on the first leg of the trip the rear turn signal vibrated off – needing to be taped on?

The foot peg was a bit of an issue as I wasn’t a blt to put much weight on it.
Oh well I was the only bike left but a chase car was there to lead me and the tow truck was behind.
The chase car was going too slowly so I decided to blast by and leave him in the dust.
There were no intersections to confuse me so I was able to ride alone for almost an hour.

The bike ran very well – the road was clear and clean as we were fairly far away from villages.

Scenery was great as I was able to look around being alone rather than being distracted in a group.

Lots of green – Coconut and palm trees – rice fields – long sweeping valley below the highlands we were on.The ride reminded me of Silverado Canyon riding into Cooks Corner, only much longer.

I let the chase car catch me so they wouldn’t think I left the road somewhere and they suggested a stop for water.

It was then I saw the right side upper shock bolt had snapped off – that could lead to a real problem.

I’m thing all three of those bolts were inferior grade replacements – That side must have been repaired once.

We waited for the tow truck to lift the bike and I rode the rest of the way in the a/c comfort of the Lexus.

Even though the temperature outside was 95 degrees I didn’t feel that warm in the wind.

Had a nice buffet lunch with all the bikers here so far. Looked to be about 100 or so. It’s early Friday.

Checked in to the hotel room – right next to the venue and walking distance to the fun zone they say.

MAYBE it’s time we re-think what a proud American brand the Harley Davidson motorcycle company is
. — Not too long ago I told you about the man whose warranty claim was rejected by the company because he was flying an American flag on his bike. And who can forget their new addition of an all-electric motorcycle (seriously?) But those things pale in comparison to a story I just found: Harley- Davidson uses the services of a company that helps them replace fairly paid American employees with cheap foreign-born workers through the H-1B visa program.

The LA Daily News tells us about Kelly Parker, a divorced mother of three, who landed her dream job at Harley-Davidson in tech support. That dream turned into a nightmare when she was laid off less than a year later, replaced by an H-1B “guest worker” from India. The biggest indignation: Parker had to train her replacement before she was fired.

The company that helped Kelly Parker to the unemployment line is the India-based Infosys Ltd. What they do is help companies like Harley- Davidson ditch their American workers in favor of lower cost Asians and Indians. They do this through the H-1B visa program, which allows foreigners special access to America if they can fill jobs that no American is capable of or willing to do.

Of course, the H-1B program has been completely abused by companies that want to cut labor costs. Instead of shipping jobs overseas, they bring overseas here to take American jobs. Different scheme; same results. Americans lose jobs.

The H-1B program is supposed to be for filling skilled and tech jobs, but what this government created clusterf**k really does is get Americans fired and keep them from ever getting hired in the first place. Companies do not have to prove that there are no Americans available for a given position, and, as we’ve seen with Kelly Parker, are perfectly within their rights to can an American that already holds a position.

Hey, Obama was right. The immigration system is broken and badly in need of repair. However, the problem isn’t that we aren’t letting millions of illegal aliens become citizens, it’s that even with legal immigration Americans are getting screwed.

It should be noted that Obama and the democrats are not only pushing amnesty, but also a massive expansion of the H-1B program, which will put even more Americans out of work.

This is how messed up things currently are: no one even keeps statistics on how many H-1B workers there are in the US. The best estimates put the number at around 600,000. Let that sink in for a moment. Well over a half-a-million mostly skilled and high-tech jobs are occupied by foreigners while a record number of Americans can’t find work. And Obama wants to expand this?

So while the federal government and apparently Harley-Davidson are working against the interests of American workers, Kelly Parker is doing something uniquely American: she is fighting back. She has joined a federal lawsuit that claims in part that Infosys Ltd. has discriminated against workers based on their country of origin by replacing Americans with foreigners. I hope like hell the lawsuit succeeds. It won’t end the H-1B visa scam, but it might make companies a little more reluctant to abuse the program.

So Harley-Davidson is just like any other corporation where the bottom line is the only important thing. They are not unique is this cold heartless approach to running a business. However, Harley sells itself as a brand that represents freedom and the American way. I guess now we all know that’s just an image cooked up by some ad agency, because their recent actions tell a different story.

HAMSTER CHARITY EFFORT FOR STURGIS 2014-Over the years, Hamsters USA has been a champion for children served by LifeScape Children’s Care Services in Rapid City. The support the Hamsters provide offers children with disabilities the specialized services, healthcare, and educational assistance they need to become more independent and live the life they dream about.

Eight-year-old Maria is just one of the many children the Hamsters are helping live their dreams. In 2013 Maria’s parents, Scott and Sheryl, became concerned when they noticed Maria always walked on her tiptoes. After several doctor visits, Maria was diagnosed with a very mild form of cerebral palsy. Her neurologist recommended serial casting as a solution and referred the family to Children’s Care in Rapid City in September of 2013.

Serial casting involves a series of repeated application of casts –from knee to toe, typically every one to two weeks to help stretch
the muscles in Maria’s calves and increase her range of motion. When out of her casts, she sleeps in braces to stretch her muscles, wears plates in her shoes during the day, and receives regular physical therapy. The hope is that as Maria grows and reaches adulthood, this repetition will train her brain to help her walk flat-footed.

“We are really super happy with services we’ve received at Children’s Care,” said Sheryl. We feel very confident in the care from Dr. Johnson and Christine and the services they are providing for Maria.”

One day while Maria was working with her physical therapist, Sheryl looked up at the wall and was surprised to see that the owner of the company she worked for – Legend Suspensions – had donated money for the room in memory of his father.

Because Sheryl works in the motorcycle industry, she is familiar with the Hamsters good work and is appreciative of how her family is personally benefitting from their generosity.

“Maria loves to come to Children’s Care because she loves to play,” she said. “All the fun stuff that Hamsters have helped fund make it fun for her…the murals, the playground, the gym…Their donations help provide excellent care and service in an environment that is not scary…it gives both parent and child a level of comfort.”

Maria’s continued treatment at Children’s Care allows her to live life to its fullest. Like any other eight-year old, she is enjoying life – jumping on the trampoline, playing on the monkey bars, and even riding her motocross bike!

Sheryl and Scott want Hamsters to know how much they appreciative the support they give to Children’s Care. “I think any parent just wants their child to be healthy. Our whole experience with Children’s Care has been has been phenomenal and we want to thank the Hamsters for their support.”

BIKERNET REVIEWS EASYRIDER II THE RIDE BACK—It’s about time. This movie has been out for a year or two, but didn’t receive general release or much publicity. I was motivated only when I ran across a massive collection of bikes on the gulf of Mexico. This gentleman and his wife put together a collection of ER related bikes, maybe ten sets. He knew all the angles, history and the stories behind the builders and the movies. I may have added a couple of quirks, but suddenly I had to watch The Ride Back.

The producer and all involved took a serious stab at putting the whole tale together in a cohesive manner. Some of the riding shots were very impressive as was most of the acting. This movie contains more story line depth, and of course there are a ton of connections to the first one. Plus it’s all about motorcycles and quirky folk who ride.

It’s worth a watch.

The MYTH that Motorcycle Helmets Greatly Reduce Fatalities–There is a new press release making its rounds across the state. Using NHSTA 2005 Evaluation of the repeal of the All-Rider Motorcycle Helmet Law in Florida and reiterated in the NHTSA Traffic Safety Facts, Motorcycle Helmet Use Laws, and January 2008.

It was reported in The Daytona Beach News-Journal “Bike Week-related trauma admissions up from last year”, by Skyler Swisher. It is saying “Since the repeal of Florida helmet law in 2000, the number of fatal crashes for every 10,000 registered motorcycles increased by 21 percent”. Everyone is quiet about the fact that helmets did not save those two motorcyclists at the race track.

Actually NHSTA looked at the lowest number when helmets were mandatory, 1999, and compared it to 2002. Typically NHSTA ignores the complete data set and makes a generalization that supports their pro-mandatory helmet law agenda. It is such a shame they will not focus their energies on accident reduction. Their latest idea of funding motorcycle only checkpoints does very little for safety.

EX-NEW ORLEANS MAYOR GETS 10 YEARS IN PRISON

Former New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison for his conviction on bribery, money laundering and other corruption charges. Nagin, famous for leading the city after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, was convicted Feb. 12 of accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars from businessmen who wanted work from the city or Nagin’s support for various projects. The bribes came in the form of money, free vacation trips and truckloads of free granite for his family business.

The 58-year-old Democrat had defiantly denied any wrongdoing.

UNCLE MONKEY ON LOADING BIKES– “Oh you’ve done this before.” was the snarky comment from my friend as I prepared to load Snow White into the back of my half-ton. I have to admit Snow White has spent more time broken down in the back of a truck then I would like–Four times for those and counting.

Loading a bike into the back of a truck isn’t the most complicated process in the world. A ramp (or strong friends in a pinch) and at least a couple tie downs. I’ve been around bikes for most of my life so I’m use to loading dirt bikes, use to picking total loss bikes up from the salvage yard, hauling them down to be inspected, dropping them off for new owners, so yeah I’ve loaded a bike or two before.

I was stunned as I watched the new owner of Mrs. Monkey’s old bike try to secure it in the back of a truck. He had tie downs; I supplied the ramp even though he had one of his own. He busied himself wrapping the straps here, wrapping them there, none of which would actually secure the bike from moving side-to-side, or front-to-back. It was painful to watch.

I was going to step in and show him how to at least stop the bike from falling over at the first corner but forced myself to only offer assistance, which he declined, so I kept my mouth shut.

He bragged about building dozens of Cafe racers, had been riding his whole life, but as he threw a strap from one box side, over the seat to cinch it up to the opposite bed side I wished him best of luck with his new bike and walked away.

He’s not the only one. One of my friends loaded his Panhead chopper into his truck, kicked down the side stand, kicked it down into first gear and tied a rope from the right hand of the handlebars to the left corner stack pocket. I suggested he use any of the tie downs he had on the floor of his truck but was told he would be alright – it was only about 500 miles to Sturgis. He blamed me when it flopped over.

Loading a bike is something that can’t be avoided sometimes. Some of us are fleeing the cold for warmer climates down south. Sometimes it is moving a roller from one home to another. Good quality tie downs are a must and are not a place to cheap out and save money. I’ve watched as friend’s 700lbs bike flopped over as their Kmart 150lbs cam lock tie downs broke. A sturdy ramp wider than a 2×4 and long enough that you won’t drag the underside of the bike makes getting the bike into the back a lot easier on your back. Secure the bike straight forward and straight up pulled towards the front of vehicle seems to work the best. Plus, even a funky wheel chalk works wonders.

I hope the chopper gods smile upon you, that you never have to load your bike into the back of a truck. But if that time ever comes it is better to be prepared then to be watching your pride and joy bouncing down the highway.

CV Performance Introduces the CVP V-Ductor– True Bolt-On Performance for Your Harley.

The finishing performance touch that add power and efficiency for your Harley Davidson. Add the V-Ductor once you have installed a CV Performance Tuners kit or other CV Performance accessory. Or make the V-Ductor the first piece you install as you begin enhancing the performance of your bike.

The V-Ductor is the velocity stack that fits inside your air cleaner. By funneling air through the unique and proven venturi design, the V-Ductor reduces turbulence while increasing velocity for optimal fuel mixture. Unlike vanes, grates or screens that may deflect airflow or encourage turbulence, the V-Ductor never blocks or reduces flow. Increased air density greatly improves mileage by encouraging a more complete burn of the air/fuel mixture.

Bolt-on performance that installs in minutes!

The only device of its kind is CNC machined and laser cut from 6061 billet aluminum and designed to install behind your stock or high flow aftermarket accessory air cleaner.

Fits all models using CV style carburetors plus Delphi Fuel Injection, 08-14 Touring, FL, XL and Mikuni HSR carbs w/air box adapter.

Available in the following styles:
1989-2006 Big Twin and Sportster.

BAD COP FILES OPENED IN ST. PETERSBURG– Sheriff pays $1.15M in wrongful death.

The Pinellas County Sheriff ’s Office has paid $1.15 million to the estate of a mentally ill woman who died in her jail cell.

Sheriff Bob Gualtieri told the Tampa Bay Times that 50-year-old Jennifer DeGraw should have never been arrested. She was found unresponsive in her cell in March 2009. She’d been jailed following a psychotic episode.

A federal jury in February recommended damages of $975,000 after finding that former Sheriff Jim Coats in his official capacity was “deliberately indifferent” to De-Graw’s medical needs. Gualtieri says the department considered appealing but decided it could cost even more. The sheriff ’s office is self-insured up to $1.5 million. The award, which was paid days ago, includes the jury award and quiets medical negligence claims pending in court.

Brad Beach drove up from Monterey to save my ass. Thank You Brad.

Friday started off with a bang, the property was over flowing with motorcycles and happy riders. With a little luck we ended up in the choice spot on the lot. We we’re the first vendor on the lot, located by the entrance and exit directly in front of the facility.

Saturday was wall to wall, we had riders lined up wanting to look at what might be, the lightest metal matrix composite rotors on the planet.

Sunday we loaded early afternoon and peeled out in the direction of Monterey. Seems 101 in both directions was bumper to bumper with 4th of July traffic. We hit the first exit and skirted the parking lot called 101 via the back roads to Moss Landing. The roads after Moss Landing we’re a breeze to Monterey.

Leaving Monterey headed home was a different tale. Ended up on 90 miles of coastline called Big Sur Hwy #1 South for a leisurely drive to the homestead. WTF? Must be the 4th of July?  Motor homes headed South we’re abundant and very slowwww. Imagine that.

Rolled into Los Angeles in the dead of night after a few naps on the road home.

One helluva weekend was had by all.

AT LAST THE Redneck Book of Manners–

Tips…From the Redneck Book of Manners

1. Never take a beer to a job interview.
2. Always identify people in your yard before shooting at them.
3. It’s considered poor taste to take a cooler to church.
4. If you have to vacuum the bed, it is time to change the sheets.
5. Even if you’re certain that you are included in the will, it is still considered tacky to drive a U-Haul to the funeral home.

Dining Out

1. If drinking directly from the bottle, always hold it with your fingers covering the label.
2. Avoid throwing bones and food scraps on the floor as the restaurant may not have dogs.

ENTERTAINING IN YOUR HOME

1. A centerpiece for the table should never be anything prepared by a taxidermist.
2. Do not allow the dog to eat at the table no matter how good his manners are.

PERSONAL HYGIENE

1.While ears need to be cleaned regularly, this is a job that should be done in private using one’s OWN truck keys.

2.Proper use of toiletries can forestall bathing for several days. However, if you live alone, deodorant is a waste of good money.

3. Dirt and grease under the fingernails is a social no-no, as they tend to detract from a woman’s jewelry and alter the taste of finger foods.

DATING (OUTSIDE THE FAMILY)

1. Always offer to bait your date’s hook, especially on the first date.
2. Be aggressive. Let her know you’re interested: ‘I’ve been wanting to go out with you since I read that stuff on the bathroom wall two years ago.’
3. Establish with her parents what time she is expected back. Some will say 10:00 PM; others might say ‘Monday.’ If the latter is the answer, it is the man’s responsibility to get her to school on time.
4. Always have a positive comment about your date’s appearance, such as, ‘Ya’ll sure don’t sweat much for a fat gal.’

WEDDINGS

1. Livestock, usually, is a poor choice for a wedding gift, but not always. If she has a ranch or farm, go ahead.
2. Kissing the bride for more than 5 seconds may get you shot.
3. For the groom, at least, rent a tux. A leisure suit with a cummerbund and a clean bowling shirt can create too sporty an appearance.
4. Though uncomfortable, say ‘yes’ to socks and shoes for this special occasion.
5. It is not appropriate to tell the groom how good his wife is in the sack, unless you’re ready to fight or die!

DRIVING ETIQUETTE

1. Dim your headlights for approaching vehicles, even if the gun is loaded, and the deer is in sight.
2. When approaching a four-way stop, the vehicle with the largest tires always has the right of way.
3. Never tow another car using panty hose and duct tape.
4. When sending your wife/girlfriend down the road with a gas can, it is impolite to ask her to bring back beer.
5. Never relieve yourself from a moving vehicle, especially when driving.
6. Do not lay rubber while traveling in a funeral procession.

TWO REASONS WHY IT IS HARD TO SOLVE A REDNECK MURDER:

1. All the DNA is the same.

2. There are no dental records

Utah Cop Joshua Boren Killed Family, Self After Rape Text

A Utah police officer who murdered his family and killed himself in January had repeatedly drugged and raped his wife, who threatened to take their kids away, authorities revealed in a 145-page investigative report. Joshua Boren allegedly videotaped the sexual assaults, which were reported to police by his therapist.

His wife learned of the attacks in 2013 but didn’t turn report him, according to the Deseret News, which obtained the police documents. But the night before she was killed, Kelly Boren did confront her husband about the depravity.

“I hate my life because (of) you,” she texted. “You killed a part of me.” She also texted the word “rape” over and over and said she was leaving her husband, who had been sexually assaulted by his mother’s boyfriend as a child.

Hours later, Joshua Boren used his service revolver to shoot Kelly, 32, their 7-year-old boy and 5-year-old girl, and his 55-year-old mother-in-law before killing himself at the family home in Spanish Fork, police say.

BIKERNET INVESTIGATES OBSCENE SALARIES–The Cato Institute released an updated 2013 study (original study in 1955) showing that welfare benefits pay more than a minimum wage job in 33 states and the District of Columbia . Even worse, welfare pays more than $15 per hour in 13 states.

According to the study, welfare benefits have increased faster than minimum wage. It’s now more profitable to sit at home than it is to earn an honest day’s pay.

Hawaii is the biggest offender, where welfare recipients earn $29.13 per hour, or a $60,590 yearly salary, all for doing nothing.

Here is the list of the states where the pre-tax equivalent “salary” that welfare recipients receive is higher than having a job:

1. Hawaii : $60,590
2. District of Columbia : $50,820
3. Massachusetts : $50,540
4. Connecticut : $44,370
5. New York : $43,700
6. New Jersey : $43,450
7. Rhode Island : $43,330
8. Vermont : $42,350
9. New Hampshire : $39,750
10. Maryland : $38,160
11. California : $37,160
12. Oregon : $34,300
13. Wyoming : $32,620
14. Nevada : $29,820
15. Minnesota : $29,350
16. Delaware : $29,220
17. Washington : $28,840
18. North Dakota : $28,830
19. Pennsylvania : $28,670
20. New Mexico : $27,900
21. Montana : $26,930
22. South Dakota : $26,610
23. Kansas : $26,490
24. Michigan : $26,430
25. Alaska : $26,400
26. Ohio : $26,200
27. North Carolina : $25,760
28. West Virginia : $24,900
29. Alabama : $23,310
30. Indiana : $22,900
31. Missouri : $22,800
32. Oklahoma : $22,480
33. Louisiana : $22,250
34. South Carolina : $21,910

As a point of reference the average Middle Class annual income today is $50,000, down from $54,000 at the beginning of the Great Recession. Hawaii , DC, and Massachusetts pay more in welfare than the average working folks earn there. Is it any wonder that they stay home rather than look for a job.

Time for a drastic change.
America is virtually bankrupt.
Are we Nuts or what? How do we un-do this type of stupidity on the part of Americans?

This is crazy!
Salary of retired US Presidents
$180,000 FOR LIFE
Salary of House/Senate….$174,000 FOR LIFE
This is stupid.
Salary of Speaker of the House ….$223,500
FOR LIFE!
This is really stupid.
Salary of Majority/Minority Leader $193,400
FOR LIFE!
Ditto last line.
Average Salary of a teacher .. $40,065
Average Salary of Soldier DEPLOYED IN
AFGHANISTAN .. $38,000

Think about this.
Nancy Pelosi will retire as a Congress Person
at $174,000 Dollars a year for LIFE.
She has retired as SPEAKER at $223,500
a year. PLUS she will receive an additional $193,400 a year as Minority Leader.

That’s
$803,700
Dollars a year for LIFE including FREE medical
which is not available to us … the taxpayers
She is just one of the hundreds of Senators
and Congress that float in and out every
year!

ON THE OTHER HAND FROM THE OFFICIAL BIKERNET PHILOSOPHER-Celebrate our Heritage every day

Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country. –John F. Kennedy

Last week we celebrated the births of our two great countries. As I watched the celebrations unfold both locally and on TV I was overwhelmed with how great our two countries are. It made me very proud to be a Canadian and a frequent visitor to the USA my adopted country.

I know throughout the year I bitch a lot about politics, the economy and other stuff but the Truth is we live in the two greatest countries on this planet. Over the last week I have focused on all the good I see and remind myself that I won the birth lottery.

I am allowed to think and say what I want, no one holds me back. Although we do have our challenges they are pale in comparison to the rest of the world. Sometimes I think we are part of the problem by focusing our conversations on the problems rather than the solutions. I think it is time to be more active and involved in the solutions.

My Grandparents came here as immigrants almost 100 years ago to make a better life for their family. I don’t remember ever hearing them same on bad word about our country. They focused on making Canada a better place to live. From now on I am going to continue their legacy.

I am going to write the powers that be about some things I would like to see changed. I will clean up my own yard and lead by example, if I see a piece on the sidewalk, I am going to pick it up. I commit to at least one community event. I am Grateful for My Country and proud to be a Canadian and part time American.

And So It Is

MAN O MAN—What a day in Paradise. We are scrambling to make a living, pay the bills, ride to Sturgis, help our bros, and make it to Bonneville.

Here are some new 5-Ball T-shirts Andrew came up with using basically Chris Kallas art. We will use a version for Bonneville and the 5-Ball racing team.

And here’s some shots of our 5/8 sleeve leather 5-Ball shirt. Apparel lines are extremely difficult to run and make successful. Imagine making a Small, Medium, Large, Extra-Large… you name it of everything you make, then stocking all of them. Hang on

But we have a helluva team of devoted partners working hard to help 5-Ball Racing cross the finish line. Andrew Calagero grew up around apparel. Bob Kay designed the line with his partner Jeff Najar, and I do everything possible to drink too much whiskey and gum up the works.

Here’s Hammer’s from the HORSE, chopper. He rode it from Detroit to the SmokeOut with a new SugarBear springer.

There’s so much coming at all three sites, I don’t know where to start, so I’m not. I’m outta here. Have a helluva weekend.

Ride Free Forever,
