Editor's Note: This may seem strange, but the following is from Tim Conder, a long time bike builder and painter, gone nuts for a drag racing endeavor. Here's his tech update and request for sponsorship help.–Bandit
Howdy folks, just a quick word to update you on the ol' #2 car's progress. I gave Alyssa a break today and brought my oldest daughter Audrey O out to Chris Bocciocco's place to snap a few pictures. Things are comin' along just fine and I start the body next week. If you've contributed to this endeavor in any way, you have our deepest appreciation and respect. – THANKS!
The car will get as much body as I have time to make before the March Meet. Fuel system gets a 2.25 i.d. aluminum fuel logto the motor for more fuel capacity. That should give us about 7+ gallons. Two 10-pound fire bottles go ahead of the motor.
I know it's the absolute worst time to try and build a top fuel dragster. I know the economy is in the toilet. I know we are all struggling in some way to make ends meet, so please feel guilt free, if you tell me to !@#$ off…
BUT, this dragster is going to be BUILT one way or another. All the ATF stuff has been seriously for sale unfinished for nearly 3 years with little interest, good economy or bad. I've decided to try and start SOMETHING, anything, to get this project off my !@#$ing PORCH. I have cashed in every favor, and committed to a LOT of trade work too. This RUNNING and FINISHED dragster, as well as a neat little trailer and restored station wagon will be presented, promoted and offered for sale in 2008 for EXACTLY what it took to build all of it. No more, no less.
I can't afford to do it alone, so I'm offering this solution…
I am actively trying to land sponsors. If you can contribute something that would be GREAT. Here's how it will work:
The whole project is mostly complete, but we need lots of little things that add up fast, like hoses and steel, to build the trailer, and aircraft quality nuts and bolts etc. These parts range in price from $2 to a couple thousand bucks. If you buy something for the car or donate SERIOUS labor to build it, you will be re-imbursed for every dime when (if?) the deal sells for full price in '08. I will also put your name on the website to help promote your business and work your name into the car's paint, if we get that far. If the car does not sell, it will be thundering down a dragstrip wheels up, grinding asphalt and spitting flames the whole way….AND IT WILL STILL BE FOR SALE.
….OR, the world will finally understand what the hell I've been raving about for the last 7+ years, and you will be a part of it.
PLEASE UNDERSTAND – I may crash it. Also, you will get paid back cash ONLY if we get full price for the deal.
If you are interested in contributing labor, parts, services, knowledge or cash please contact me and I will e-mail you a list of things we need and keep sending you updates.
Thanks, Tim Conder

p.s. Yes, that's my cute little baby girl Audrey Odalene. Let's hope you don't have to see her “sad face” if that badass hemi doesn't thump in March…
