Hey,
Readers unite. It’s interesting and challenging. Folks are hit with so many distractions, it’s tough to sit down and read an article from start to finish.
Hell, I just bought an electric shaver. The directions are daunting. They follow me around daily screaming, “Read me, read me.” I read all day long, and when a magazine arrives I struggle to find the time to open them.
Let’s hit the news. I have more shit to read. The Bikernet Weekly News is sponsored in part by companies who also dig Freedom including: Cycle Source Magazine, the MRF, Las Vegas Bikefest, Iron Trader News, ChopperTown and BorntoRide.com, Sturgis Museum.

AMD SHOW IN JAKARTA– Over 80,000 visitors see the new AMD World Championship affiliate custom bike show in Jakarta, Indonesia
Held on the first weekend of April, congratulations to Indramawan (Managing Editor) and the team at Otoplus Magazine in Indonesia – after more than ten years hoping that they would one day be able to stage an AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building affiliate event in Indonesia, the 2017 “Showbike Fighting” at the 18th Otobursa Tumplek Blek, a leading Indonesian automotive expo in Jakarta, saw more than 80,000 people exposed to the passion, innovation and craftsmanship of the burgeoning custom motorcycle scene in Indonesia.
Onno “Madness Photography” Wieringa
Congratulations too to ‘Veroland’ of Kickass Choppers in Indonesia for taking the win that will see him receiving bike freight and travel/accommodation expenses to be able to compete at ‘AMD XIII’ – the 2018 AMD World Championship at INTERMOT ‘Customized’ at Cologne, Germany, in October next year.
His 1948 Panhead beat off the challenge of Nicko Eigert’s (Smoked Garage) Ducati SF 848 (second) and Lufti Ardika (Queen Lekha Choppers), who scored third with a Shovelhead and fourth with a Sportster.
Studio photography: Rony Indrianto & Indra Kurniawan
Using an original engine with matching number stock rigid frame, ‘Veroland’ kept ‘Pantastico’ pure and simple, with the springer front end and aftermarket performance components such as a 65 Morris Magneto, L-series S&S carbs, CCE rocker boxes, BDL belt drive, Radir 18 x 3 front and rear wheels and modified Wassel fuel tank with handmade fender, seat and exhaust – “there’s no battery” says ‘Veroland’, “just gas, kicker and big sparks”!
Statistically Indonesia is the third largest motorcycle/PTW (Powered Two-Wheeler) market in the world. It hasn’t really been on the northern hemisphere’s radar as a hotbed of custom bike building culture to date, but, as with elsewhere in Asia, that is changing.
There are currently five Harley dealers in Indonesia (three of them in the capital Jakarta), and there has always been a small but passionate custom scene there, one that pre-dates Harley’s official arrival in the country.
Unlike other custom bike competitions, the AMD World Championship program has always been as much about “spreading the word” as it has been about rewarding excellence, and with a population of 250 million people, we here at AMD Magazine are proud to be able to welcome “Showbike Fighting” as the latest member of the AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building affiliate network.
SOUTH CAROLINA LEGISLATIVE ALERT– House Bill H 3989 for vehicle inspections dies in subcommittee meeting!
ABATE of South Carolina is pleased to announce that a house bill that would have required all vehicles including motorcycles to pass a annual vehicle safety inspection did not make it out of committee.
Here is some of the language of the proposed bill:
Section 56-5-5410. (A) Effective on and after January 1, 2018, the Department of Motor Vehicles shall require that every vehicle registered in this State, except house trailers, must be inspected at least once a year and have displayed at all times a South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles-approved certificate of inspection and approval in a practical location specified by the department. A person shall not drive or move on any highway a vehicle, except house trailers, unless there is in effect and properly displayed on it a current certificate of inspection.
(B) The inspection must be made of every vehicle and certificates obtained with respect to the mechanism, lights, tires, brakes, and equipment of the vehicle as designated by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
(C) The Department of Motor Vehicles may accept a certificate of inspection and approval issued by a qualified agency or department of another state and shall exempt from the provisions of this article all vehicles subject to the United States Department of Transportation federal motor carrier safety regulations.
(D) The Department of Motor Vehicles shall suspend the registration of a vehicle which it determines is in an unsafe condition that constitutes a menace to safety and which after notice and demand is not equipped, as required in this article, and for which a required certificate has not been obtained.
(E) The Department of Motor Vehicles before registering and titling a vehicle, shall require that the application for it is accompanied by an official certificate of inspection and approval issued for the vehicle by an inspection station licensed to inspect vehicles in this State.
(F) A motor vehicle shall not be sold in South Carolina without having a valid South Carolina inspection stamp affixed before delivery to the buyer.
Two ABATE members Bill Fuller and Reb Richardson testified at the subcommittee about the additional costs that would be incurred and the issue with rural areas not having a motorcycle qualified inspection station.
The director of the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles Kevin Shwedo also testified that although there would be revenue generated the costs associated would actually cost the state more that what it would make.

THE BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY IS STILL OPEN– The teacher gave her fifth grade class an assignment: Get their parents to tell them a story with a moral at the end of it.
—The next day, the kids came back …and, one by one, began to tell their stories.
There were all the regular types of stuff: Spilled milk and pennies saved. But then the teacher realized, that only Janie was left.
“Janie, do you have a story to share?”
“Yes ma’am. My daddy told me a story about my Mommy. She was a Marine pilot in Desert Storm, and her plane got hit. She had to bail out over enemy territory, and all she had was a flask of whiskey, a pistol, and a survival knife.
She drank the whiskey on the way down so the bottle wouldn’t break, and then she parachuted right into the middle of 20 Iraqi troops……..
She shot 15 of them with the pistol, until she ran out of bullets, killed four more with the knife, till the blade broke, and then she killed the last Iraqi with her bare hands.”
”Good Heavens, ‘said the horrified teacher. What did your Daddy tell you was the moral to this horrible story’?”
….”Don’t Screw with Mommy when she’s been drinking.”
….I love these touching stories !!!

ROYAL ENFIELD BUYS DUCATI– After Hero MotoCorp, Royal Enfield said to buy Ducati from Volkswagen?
Two of India’s largest makers and sellers of motorcycles are said to be on the hunt for buying Ducati motorcycles. Hero Motors India which split from Japanese partner Honda after many decades just a few years ago sells a thousand motorcycles on a daily basis, mostly 100cc to 150cc commuter bikes. Enfield which is a big dog battling Harley Davidson and Triumph in global markets is suggested to be a likely buyer of Ducati as well.
Volkswagen has tasked investment banking boutique Evercore with evaluating possible options including a sale of the thoroughbred brand, which VW unit Audi acquired in 2012.
Earlier it was reported that Volkswagen is considering options for its motorcycle brand Ducati as it seeks to streamline its portfolio. Europe’s largest carmaker has tasked investment banking boutique Evercore with evaluating possible options including a sale of the thoroughbred brand, which VW unit Audi acquired in 2012. Royal Enfield is a part of Eicher Motors.
While Volkswagen has started reaching out to potential buyers to sound out their interest, no decision has been taken on whether the firm will be divested. However, recent reports suggest that Hero MotoCorp and Royal Enfield are the front-runners to acquire the sportsbike brand from German car-makers.
A recent report suggest that the sale of Ducati could fetch Volkswagen around 1.5 billion euros (Rs 10,500 crore). Volkswagen has been reeling under the diesel emissions scandal or Dieselgate which broke in September 2015. To fix the issue, Volkswagen will have to shell out approximately $15 billion (Rs 963.75 crore).
Volkswagen, Ducati, Hero MotoCorp nor Royal Enfield have commented on this so far.
Siddhartha Lal, MD & CEO, Eicher Motor told TOI, “I have a general view on such things. We are always open to thoughts and ideas. But as you know, we are the most focused and selective company. So basically, without saying absolutely no to anything – because we never say never – we are so zeroed in on our own opportunity that we do not want anything to distract us.”
Royal Enfield plans to invest Rs 800 crore during this fiscal on various activities including its upcoming manufacturing facility near Chennai and new product development.
Lal said, “We will be investing Rs 800 crore in FY 2017-18 towards our upcoming manufacturing facility at Vallam Vadagal near Chennai, product development, two technical centres in UK and India and towards market expansion.”
Royal Enfield now has 25 exclusive stores in international market.
Is Volkswagen selling Ducati to Hero MotoCorp?
Companies that might be interested in buying Ducati are Chinese groups, Indian two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp or other investors.
Volkswagen is starting to get its act together again but it will take substantial effort to take the company back to its position before the diesel emission scandal happened.
To do this, the automaker needs to focus on technology that will be the future and its ID family of vehicles that have been showcased at multiple auto shows around the world are one example of that. VW will also need to raise funds and streamline its portfolio and that is where selling of Ducati comes into play.

Progressive Laconia Motorcycle Week– returns to the Lakes Region this June 10-18 for its 94th year.
Over 230,000 riders are expected to visit the state for a week of fun, music, racing, and, of course, riding, continuing this time-honored and thoroughly New Hampshire tradition.
Why New Hampshire, you may ask? Well, to truly understand the answer, you have to go back to the early years . . . 1916, to be exact, when the first group of riders (participating in what was then called a “gypsy tour”) decided to make the trek up US Route 3 (there was no I-93 back then), a mostly dirt road that wound its way through the mountains, valleys and straightaways of rural New Hampshire.
Back then, a trip to Laconia, a popular tourist destination even then, was a day-long trip. A big commitment on two-wheels. Groups of riders made the trek because the journey provided everything that made riding enjoyable: Camaraderie, fresh air, accessibility and, most importantly, scenery. And New Hampshire had it all.
It wasn’t surprising that this, the original “gypsy tour” made an impression, leading to many more rides in subsequent years, each getting bigger and better.
Fast-forwarding to today, ask any rider the same question, why New Hampshire? and the answers are remarkably similar. Scenery, fresh air and accessibility.
Where else can you ride up and down mountains, through quaint, New England towns, around magnificent lakes and along miles of oceanfront? All within 100 miles, too. On top of that, the Lakes Region (and New Hampshire, in general) has grown to embrace the two-wheeled visitors that flock here every June.
For some riders, Motorcycle Week serves as an introduction to New Hampshire. If they leave liking what they’ve seen, they’ll return on their own, again and again. And many do.
So, there’s a lot to like about the deep and storied relationship between New Hampshire and riding. And no wonder many have dubbed the state’s motto “Live Free and Ride!”

QUESTIONS FROM BIKERNET READER–
You mentioned:
“I don’t do Twitter, Linkedin, Instagram, or Pinterest. I criticize myself for dodging this crap. Friends and associates suggest I spend more time on these elements than on Bikernet.”–Bandit
My question back to friends and associates would be – To what end?
1. Is there any evidence that social media would produce more sponsorship or content contribution?
2. Would social media platforms be more likely to censor content?
3. Do you have the time and inclination to remove or respond to derogatory/libelous posting?
4. Is it better to do a couple of things exceptionally well rather than trying to do a number of things that produce, at best, mediocre results?
Life is too short, and not near enough time to ride, race and chase more redheads.

WACO ACTION ALERT– Bikers Sue Cops for $1 Billion Over ‘Witch Hunt’
Four members of the Grim Guardians motorcycle club showed up to Twin Peaks restaurant in Waco, Texas, on May 17, 2015, for a meeting about state politics, they say. Instead, rival motorcycle gangs opened fire on each other before police moved in.
They walked into gunfire, and they left in handcuffs.
When the smoke cleared, nine men were dead, 20 people were injured, and 177 bikers were arrested for engaging in organized criminal activity — including the Grim Guardians.
Now Jim Albert Harris, Bonar Crump Jr., Drew King, and Juan Carlos Garcia are suing the city, law enforcement, and the restaurant for violating their civil rights, slandering their reputations, and more.
They’re not the first bikers to sue over the shootout, but they are the first to demand $1 billion and compare the violence to poison gas attacks in Syria.
It is the “worst police operation initiated by law enforcement in the history of Texas, including the fiasco of the Branch Davidian storming that killed dozens of innocent women and children outside Waco over 20 years ago (which resulted in far more civilian casualties than the recent gas attacks by Assad of Syria),” said Beaumont attorney Brent Coon, in a press release.
Eventually, Coon claims, Waco’s handling of the shooting “will be shown to be one of the biggest blunders and cover-ups by any law enforcement agency in the country,” and the city will eventually be proven as “another Salem, Massachusetts in a witch hunt for bikers.”
When Harris, Crump, King, and Garcia arrived that muggy day, late Sunday morning, the strip mall was quiet except for the roaring of motorcycles approaching the Hooters-like restaurant from the interstate.
They didn’t know that several Waco law enforcement officials were outside and anticipating violence. Officers established a perimeter around the brawl ahead of time — based on intelligence about the escalating conflict between the Bandidos and Cossacks — and were watching for the fight to break out.
More than 60 Cossacks and allied bikers were already sitting on the patio when the Bandidos arrived. They fought each other in the parking lot with handguns, baseball bats, knives, and brass knuckles.
Around this time, the Grim Guardians rode up.
“They took cover behind a vehicle with a female law enforcement officer,” their lawsuit claims. Crump became separated from the others, but the officer “quickly determined” they were not a threat. She disappeared into the melee after she was ordered to advance, the suit claims.
“In 34 years of law enforcement, this is the most violent crime scene I have ever been involved in,” Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said that day. “There is blood everywhere.”
Police seized leather jackets, weapons, and motorcycle paraphernalia, including raffle tickets for events that were supposed to happen at the meeting. More than 200 men and women in motorcycle garb (including Crump) were lined up and searched near the scene littered with dead bodies, bullet casings, and bloody motorcycles.
Meanwhile, Harris, King, and Garcia sat under a tree in the parking lot where they say officers with assault rifles approached to search them.
When King asked why, an officer purportedly answered: “Because you are wearing leather vests.”
The suit claims that Swanton told the media, in a series of interviews, that police “arrested three bikers who were carrying weapons and tried to reach the scene after the fighting had quieted down.”
Swanton, according to the suit, “tried to portray these three plaintiffs as bikers arriving with weapons as reinforcements when” in reality they were sitting in the parking lot.
Harris, Crump, King, and Garcia say they were only arrested because of their presence at Twin Peaks and because they were wearing biker “colors.” But they say they committed no crimes that day.
May 17, 2015, marked one of the largest mass arrests in a single criminal incident in American history. The men were held with zip-ties and taken to the convention center in city busses. In the end, 177 of the bikers were arrested and charged with engaging in organized criminal activity. Today, 155 of those bikers have been indicted. None have been tried yet.
Harris, King, and Garcia all had their bonds set at $2 million, while the rest of the bikers had bail set at $1 million.
“There are pending criminal matters and civil lawsuits, and the City of Waco chooses to litigate these matters in the court,” Jennifer Richie, the city’s attorney, told The Daily Beast on Tuesday.
According to their suit, the men were “unsuspectingly going to a place they weren’t wanted or liked, and where a paranoid and trigger-happy faction of local law enforcement had already been preparing for a shootout.”
Local law enforcement has said on multiple occasions that they received advanced intelligence anticipating the violence. The Bandidos and Cossacks’ dispute was over the use of “rockers” attached to their riding jackets and vests. The Cossacks were not invited to the meeting — nor a member of the confederation — but showed up anyway, according to multiple reports.
Several suits filed in the wake of the shooting allege that officials at Front Burner, which operated the Waco franchise, were warned by police before the meeting.
“What happened here today,” Swanton said at the time, “could have been avoided if we had had management at a local establishment listen to their police department and assist us.”
“They failed to do that,” he added.
But victims and arrested bikers have said in various lawsuits that they still don’t understand why they weren’t warned. If the lawsuits move forward, they may get their answer.

KEEPING THE BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY OPEN DURING LUNCH– A convenience store needed to replace the fence on the back of the property so the owner called three contractors in to bid on it.
When they arrived he noticed each vehicle was from a different state. He didn’t think anything of it and took them around back to make a bid. First to step up was the Florida contractor. He took out his tape measure and pencil, did some measuring and said, ”Well I figure the job will run about $900. $400 for materials, $400 for my crew, and $100 profit for me.”
Next was the Texas contractor. He also took out his tape measure and pencil, did some quick figuring and said, ”Looks like I can do this job for $700. $300 for materials, $300 for my crew, and $100 profit for me.”
Without so much as moving, the New York contractor said, ”$2,700.”
The guard, incredulous, looked at him and said, ”You didn’t even measure like the other guys! How did you come up with such a high figure?”
”Easy,” he said. ”$1,000 for me, $1,000 for you, and we hire the guy from Texas.”

House, Senate Lawmakers Introduce Bipartisan Resolution to Address Motorcycle Profiling–
A bipartisan, bicameral group of lawmakers introduced a resolution to address the issue of motorcycle profiling and promote collaboration between the motorcycle and law enforcement communities. U.S. Representatives Tim Walberg (R-MI), Mark Pocan (D-WI), Michael C. Burgess, M.D (R-TX) and Collin Peterson (D-MN) led the effort in the House (H.Res. 318), and U.S. Senators Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) introduced the Senate version (S.Res.154).
“From coast to coast, Americans of all backgrounds responsibly ride a motorcycle as their means of transportation or simply to enjoy the open road. This bipartisan resolution aims to raise awareness about the reality of motorcycle profiling and foster an open dialogue between motorcyclists and law enforcement,” said Rep. Tim Walberg, co-chair of the House Motorcycle Caucus.
“This bipartisan resolution should send a clear message to relevant regulatory and law enforcement agencies across the country: motorcycle profiling has no place on our roads. Instead, we must foster collaboration and cooperation between these agencies and the riders in order to promote safety and ensure all motorists are treated fairly under the law,” said Rep. Mark Pocan.
“I represent thousands of motorcyclists in the state of Texas, many of whom take to the highways each day to enjoy the exhilaration of a free ride. As a rider, I know it is important that we recognize and help promote their safety and needs, including addressing motorcycle profiling. Today, I joined my colleagues to introduce a resolution promoting awareness of motorcycle profiling and encouraging communication and collaboration between the motorcycle community and law enforcement,” said Rep. Michael C. Burgess, M.D, co-chair of the House Motorcycle Caucus.
“Millions of Americans rely on motorcycles for transportation and recreation across the country. This bipartisan legislation will help foster a cooperative effort by motorcyclists and law enforcement officials to address instances of motorcycle profiling,” said Rep. Collin Peterson.
“Wisconsin has a rich history with motorcycles, and many of our motorcycle enthusiasts have raised this as a point of concern,” said Senator Ron Johnson.
“Motorcycles are an important part of New Hampshire’s identity and economy, and Granite Staters of all backgrounds should have the freedom to enjoy the open road,” said Senator Jeanne Shaheen. “This bipartisan resolution aims to encourage an open conversation between the motorcycle community and law enforcement to ensure that our roads remain safe for Granite State motorcyclists and drivers alike.”

The Evel Knievel Museum: 40 Years in the Making and Now Open!
The ultimate collection of the Legendary Daredevil’s Authentic Artifacts
Virtual Reality Jump, Snake River Room and Evel’s Fully-Restored “Big Red” Mack Truck Rig
Experience the singular showcase of genuine artifacts belonging to the most legendary, death-defying daredevil of all time. The new Evel Knievel Museum is a world-class facility containing the most complete Evel Knievel collection in the world including actual leathers, helmets, and hidden-cache canes, X-rays showing the metal pins that held Evel together, and rare, never-before-seen jump video and photos.
But that’s just the start. On display are Evel’s own jump bikes—motorcycles that sometimes launched him toward horrific crashes. These include bikes Knievel piloted at Wembley Stadium and Caesar’s Palace featuring their original sheetmetal, painted by Evel’s artist George Sedlak. See the X-2 Sky Cycle launched at Snake River, perched on Evel’s ramp and installed over dirt brought in from the original location. Peek inside “Big Red,” Evel’s traveling rig and dressing room, resplendent in red, white & blue metalflake vinyl in the original stars and stripes motif.
A centerpiece of the collection is the most iconic Bell helmet in the world: the 1966 Bell Star worn by Evel Knievel for the Caesar’s Palace jump—and subsequent crash. Hidden from view for decades, it’s still beautifully battered and likely saved his life that day.
Said Museum Co-Founder Mike Patterson, “Evel was such a riveting figure in the ‘70s. He did things no one had ever done. I’ll never forget seeing him jump when I was just four-years-old and he still inspires today’s extreme sports athletes.”
The collection was amassed over four years by actor, producer and entrepreneur Lathan McKay. “It’s been an arduous but magical road,” said McKay. “This museum is the fulfillment of a dream for many people.” He termed the worldwide hunt for Knievel memorabilia, “Evel Archaeology.”
Visitors can view clips of Evel’s Hollywood stints in a 1970s-era movie theatre complete with marquee and costumes. Giant touch screens target Knievel’s broken bones, connecting injuries to the jumps that caused them with video of the actual events. The “Plan A Jump” wall allows four players to choose bike, wardrobe and obstacles, plus speed, ramp angle, distance and other variables before launching, offering STEM educational opportunities. But crash or succeed, no visitors are damaged in the playing of this game!
Museum guests can even experience the rush of being a daredevil. Put on the virtual reality goggles and headset to pilot a jump bike perched on Evel’s actual ramp for an immersive jump experience, complete with rushing wind and rumbling impact.
Promising the thrill of a lifetime, the Evel Knievel Museum is unparalleled in scope and depth. It’s a fitting tribute to confidence, individualism and epic courage—characteristics that describe the bold life of Evel Knievel. Visit the Evel Knievel Museum. There’s no describing it, you simply have to experience it!
Features of the Evel Knievel Museum Include:
• The bikes that launched a legend: Evel’s actual motorcycles
• His genuine leathers and helmets
• Fully-restored Mack Truck Rig “Big Red” – cab, dressing room and trailer
• Snake River Experience Room featuring the actual X-2 Sky Cycle
• “Plan A Jump” interactive wall. Will you nail it or crash?

“Anybody can jump a motorcycle. The trouble begins when you try to land it.”
“I’m not a stunt man. I’m not a dare devil…I’m an explorer.”
“I created Evel Knievel, and then he sort of got away from me.”

GLOBAL MOTORCYCLE MARKETPLACE REPORT– India overtakes China to become No 1 in two-wheelers market
India sold close to 17.7 million units compared to the 16.8 million units sold by China in 2016.
According to a report by Society of Indian Automobile Manufactures (SIAM), India has emerged as the biggest two-wheeler market in the world overtaking China to take the No 1 spot. According to the reports, India sold close to 17.7 million units in 2016 compared to the 16.8 million units sold by China for the financial year 2016-17.
In India, Honda unseated Indian company Bajaj Auto to become second largest bikes-maker for the time in April, and has also moved within striking distance to overtake India’s Hero Motors as the country’s largest two-wheeler company.
Over the past few years, the Chinese two-wheeler market was on the decline for various reasons. The most evident was the rise in demand for cars in the country and high import cost on two-wheelers made it difficult for the bike-makers to cater to the segment. This resulted in the down-grade of the two-wheeler segment in the country.
Y.S. Guleria said, “Driven by a 34 per cent rise in overall volumes, we have become the No 2 motorcycle-maker in the country in April, unseating the incumbent by a wide margin (over 21,330 units). We sold 1,83,266 bikes in the month, up 22 per cent from 1,50,711 units we had sold a year ago.”
As against this, Bajaj Auto saw its domestic sales plunge 19 per cent to 1,61,930 units in April. With this, the Japanese two-wheeler major leads the Pune-headquartered company by a wide margin of 21,336 units, while it has narrowed the gap it has with the market leader Hero MotoCorp to just 12,377 units.
Royal Enfield also posted its highest ever quarterly income from operations at Rs 1,888 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, a growth of 23.2 per cent over the corresponding period last year. During the fourth quarter of the last fiscal, Royal Enfield posted its best ever performance. It sold 1,78,345 motorcycles, posting a growth of 20.8 per cent over 1,47,618 motorcycles sold in the same period last year.
India has taken the No 1 position from China despite the negative impact of demonetisation and the emission regulation BS-III vehicle ban, as the two-wheeler industry is said to have incurred a loss of Rs 600 crore.
The apex court on March 29 banned the sale and registration of BS-III category vehicles or those not compliant with Bharat Stage IV (BS IV) emission norms from April 1. The step was taken due to concerns on vehicular emission.
The BS norms are emission standards imposed on automobile manufacturers which specify the maximum permissible limits for pollutants in the exhaust fumes of automobiles.
“The total loss for the two-wheeler industry on account of the discounts offered during March 30-31, 2017 is estimated to be around Rs 600 crore, sizeable share of which would be borne by the OEMs,” Senior Group Vice-President at ICRA Subrata Ray said in a report.

COUNTRY MUSIC REPORT– New Video for “Things Change” Premieres on CMT.com; Bare set for Grand Ole Opry appearance on May 27
Country Music Hall of Famer and GRAMMY award-winning living legend Bobby Bare will release THINGS CHANGE May 26, which features a collaboration with Chris Stapleton. The album is Bare’s first studio project in five years and is available for pre-sale now at BobbyBare.com and all CD’s purchased through Bare’s website will be autographed. THINGS CHANGE is the follow-up to Bare’s critically-acclaimed album DARKER THAN LIGHT.
THINGS CHANGE will feature 10 tracks written by Bare, Mary Gauthier, Guy Clark and the producer of the project, hit singer/songwriter Max T. Barnes. THINGS CHANGE will be released by HYPERMEDIA Nashville and BFD through RED Distribution. The album will include “Things Change,” which will be the first-ever video filmed by the 82-year old legend. Bare will also return to the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, where he was once a member from 1964-1974, with a special performance and in-store on May 27, the day after the album’s release.
The album features a special collaboration on Bare’s iconic hit, “Detroit City” with Chris Stapleton adding his unique vocals. The song was written by Mel Tillis and Danny Dill and was originally released by Bare in 1963. It would become one of his most highly requested songs to this day and won a GRAMMY® in 1964 for Best Country/Western Recording.
Bare is excited about the collection of songs he has assembled. “This is a special collection of songs to me, not just another record. Great songs from Mary Gauthier, a song I co-wrote with Guy Clark that turned out to be his last and a song that my buddy Hoyt Axton inspired me to write called ‘Things Change.’ That’s the title of the album and the first single.
Things do change but my love for songwriters and the fans never, ever will!” said Bobby Bare. Bare knows what he’s talking about when he talks about great songs, having recorded compositions from fellow legends as Tom T. Hall (“Margie’s At The Lincoln Park Inn”), Ian Tyson (“Four Strong Winds”), Kris Kristofferson (“Please Don’t Tell Me How The Story Ends”), and several compositions from the late Shel Silverstein – including his 1974 chart-topper “Marie Laveau.”
“I hit the road as a lead guitar player with Bobby Bare when I was 20 years old. To imagine I would produce my hero all these years later is a dream come true. We had so much fun touring the world in the 1980s. We laughed until we hurt! That’s what it was like in the studio with Bare on this album. He has a wicked smart song sense, and a delivery that will cut you to the bone. Bare is a true giant,” said Max T. Barnes, President of HYPERMEDIA Nashville.

UNCLE MONKEY ON PREPARING FOR THE RIDE– As I go over each bike getting them ready for another riding season there always seems to be little gremlins that nestled in over the winter. For the most part everything goes smoothly, the result of properly storing the bike the fall before. But that isn’t always the case.
This year I’m left scratching my head wondering why the headlight on the Electra Glide isn’t working. It worked fine when the bike was wrapped up for the winter, and yet on a warm spring day months later it is no longer lighting the way.
A quick check shows that the bulb is good. A full 12 volts is going to the bars and back but nothing is reaching the headlight. It is now the pain staking process of tracing down the problem in the hundreds of feet of wires concealed behind the fairing.
I had replaced the spotlight switch last summer when it had gave up the ghost and while I had used a genuine OEM part it will be high on my list of possible culprits. It also means I have to be aware that there may be a deeper problem that contributed to the failure of two switches if that is the case.
Wiring was never a strong suit of mine until I bought a well-used Shovelhead. The previous owner broke the key off in the ignition and instead of getting it fixed he wired the bike to a complex set of relays and cross wires in order for it to start.
If memory serves me correct I had to turn on the high beam, turn off the spot lights, flip another toggle switch, signal left, hold the rear brake and then push the starter button. Missing one meant the bike would never start. It forced me to learn how to follow a wiring diagram and the flow of power through a motorcycle.
For now my next several nights will be spent tracing wires searching for the gremlin that wintered in my bike.

THE BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY IS STILL OPEN– I think it’s pretty cool how Chinese people made a language entirely out of tattoos…
The Presbyterian Church called a meeting to decide what to do about their squirrels. After much prayer and consideration, they concluded the squirrels were predestined to be there and they shouldn’t interfere with God’s divine will.
At the Baptist Church the squirrels had taken an interest in the baptistery. The deacons met and decided to put a water slide on the baptistery and let the squirrels drown themselves. The squirrels liked the slide and, unfortunately, knew instinctively how to swim so twice as many squirrels showed up the following week.
The Methodist C?hurch decided that they were not in a position to harm any of God’s creatures. So, they humanely trapped their squirrels and set them free near the Baptist Church. Two weeks later the squirrels were back when the Baptists took down the water slide.
But the Catholic Church came up with a very creative strategy. They baptized all the squirrels and consecrated them as members of the church. Now they only see them on Christmas and Easter.
Not much was heard from the Jewish synagogue; they took the first squirrel and circumcised him. They haven’t seen a squirrel since.

He intensifies the discords upon a subject which many seem bent upon befogging and distracting by all the arts of ingenious sophistry. He professes to be friendly to copyright, and then reasons his way to the destruction of all copyright by denying that there is any right or wrong in the matter.

ORIGIN
The Greek adjective sophós (with its derivatives) forms part of many words that are ambiguous, such as sophisticated and sophistication, or have unfavorable meanings, such as sophistry or sophister. Positive meanings for sophós include the noun philosophía “philosophy” and the proper name Sophocles “famous for wisdom.”
The ambiguity is basic in Greek and lies at some of the basic meanings of sophós. Its fundamental meaning is “skilled in a craft or handicraft (such as pottery or stone carving) or art (such as poetry or writing speeches)”; then “clever in an art or craft, clever in practical affairs (such as teaching for a profit), cunning, shrewd”; and finally, “learned in the sciences, abstruse.” Sophistry entered English in the 14th century.
The steel mesh insert is secured via aluminum retainer clips with an angular design that delivers another element of distinctive rugged style. STURGIS MOTORCYCLE MUSEUM– Word comes to me that the Sturgis Museum will induct Michael “Balls” Farabaugh into the Freedom Fighters section in August. I cannot argue with this decision; well deserved.
It was also stated that nobody was nominated this year. I know that is false, because I nominated somebody and I heard at least one other was nominated. Now, Bandit tells me that “only four” people were nominated this year.
Although I was going to avoid going to the breakfast this year, I may change my plans in honor of Balls, but my sentiments toward the museum and its board of directors remains cautionary dissatisfied.

Good and right to the point and I do agree.
I would like to thank Keith for what he has done and suggest that we move on to working to make this run smoothly in the future.
Meetings with the Sturgis Museum and members of the rights community should be a big priority so what happened this year does not happen in the future.
Michael “Balls” Farabaugh is definitely someone who should be inducted.
With that being said Serious Attention should be taken to see those inducted in the future are Really Deserving and not just someone who may be a rights activist, supports rights and or donates money.
Thanks to all who have worked to solve this issue.
This is just another example of what we can accomplish when we work together.
We are going to work with the motorcycle rights community and the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum to insure plenty of nominations flow in for 2018. The board is also going to invite MC rights leaders to attend board meetings throughout the year, to bring the board up to speed on legislative issues around the country.
The Sturgis Museum now has plenty of land, through a tremendous donation, to build a world class museum. More reports are forthcoming. –Bandit

NEVER DULL— My grandson is sitting in LAX waiting for a delayed flight to Deadwood to attend the Scott Jacobs art retreat. He’s edgy, but I told him to relax.
He’ll have a blast and the SJ family will treat him well, plus he will learn mountains about art, techniques and the art business.
Deadwood will be a blast. I’m about to launch Part 2 of the ultimate FXR (twin cam) build by Eric Bennett. We are about to put Frank’s Dyna Glide back together. We will bring you a full report.
We are also working on a Suspension report around James, the Tileman’s 1999 Dyna with the help of Custom Cycle Engineering for alignment procedures, Race Tech front end components and suggestions, plus Yelvington shocks.
Then I need to clear a lift and start to work on my Panhead build maybe for Sturgis. It’s never dull around here. It’s also time to work on another Cantina Episode.
