With more to see and all of it in one location, Gettysburg Bike Week is moving back to the Allstar Events Complex for 2015. In addition to celebrating its 14th year with three top-flight musical acts–Jackyl, The Outlaws and David Allan Coe–GBW will also have rides, shows and games for everyone.
“This is the start of a new era for Gettysburg Bike week. With top headliners playing every night, and the convenience of rally goers being able to stay at the Eisenhower on site, we are sure this year is going to be the best Gettysburg Bike Week yet,” said event coordinator Kelly Shue.
The festivities will kick off on the S.S. Vape Stage at 2 p.m., as legendary emcee Jack Schit takes the mike. The opening ceremonies will follow at 4:45 p.m., with Klinger McFry singing the National Anthem. Thursday night, outlaw country blues musician David Allan Coe is the headliner, with Klinger McFry, Marshall’s Highway and Virago providing live music all day long. Coe has had a storied career as a songwriter and outstanding live performer, and you can bet you’ll hear stirring renditions of “Take This Job And Shove It,” “Mona Lisa Lost Her Smile,” “Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)” and more.
Friday’s events begin at 10 a.m., with a Stars of Hope Poker Run to benefit New Hope Ministries, that will end back at the Allstar Event complex by 4 p.m. At 2 p.m., the tattoo contest, sponsored by Tattoos by Nate, will start the afternoon out right, followed by a Bikini Bike Wash with the girls of the International Bikini Team at 3 p.m. Friday night, rock ‘n’ roll gets the Southern Fried treatment as The Outlaws take to the S.S. Vape Stage, ready to deliver the dual-guitar attack and multiple-part vocal harmonies that have made this band one of the best and most unique in the country-rock genre. Warming them up will be Gettysburg’s own Ghosts of War, Southern rockers Great Train Robbery, Southern rock tribute band Smokin’ Gunnz and after-party music brought to you by Joyride. Following the Outlaws there will be a bonfire for everyone to enjoy.
And on Saturday, the rally starts at 10 a.m. with the second annual Cycle Source Ride In Bike Show, sponsored by Dale E. Anstine Attorneys followed by a Jennifer Levan Breast Cancer Poker Run to benefit the Pink Journey of Lights . The music starts with Shane Speal’s Snake Oil Band, followed by another Bikini Bike Wash with the girls of the International Bikini Team at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon will feature bike games and burnouts, as well the Parade of Chrome and the Bikini Contest. Back In Black, the country’s premier AC/DC tribute band, will warm up the stage for Jackyl on Saturday night, performing a mix of both Bon Scott and Brian Johnson songs (and also featuring the return of 8-year-old drummer prodigy Avery Molek). Then Jackyl brings its brand of musical mayhem to the S.S. Vape stage: Is it hard rock? Heavy metal? Southern rock? It’s all three, so get ready to get down! Saturday night will conclude with a Wet T-shirt Contest, a “Guys Contest” and fireworks.
Every day will feature members of Vicious Choppers, Franklin Church Choppers and new this year Hellion Choppers battling their way to the Gettysburg Bike Week Biker Build-Off Championship. If riders have not had a chance to explore the history of Gettysburg, the best way to do it is with Battlefield Motorcycle Tours.
Of the move from Granite Hill to the Allstar Events Complex, Ms. Shue had this to say: “We had a wonderful time at Granite Hill, but we’re very excited to be back at the Allstar Events Complex–it guarantees us more space and easier access, and Gettysburg Bike Week’s official lodging sponsor, the Eisenhower Hotel and Conference Center, is right next door.”
Gettysburg Bike Week will also feature additional entertainment, all hosted by Jack Schit, who will emcee the International Bikini Team and the return of the Wet T-shirt Contest!
And, of course, no rally would be complete without great riding, and Gettysburg has some of the best. Whether riders want to see historic battlegrounds or just hit the road for a great cruise, hundreds of miles of the best riding in the East surrounds Gettysburg.
