SUCKER PUNCH SALLY’S WELCOMES NEW DEALER OPERATIONS MANAGER– SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.–November 12, 2008–In response to the growing demand for its signature old-school customs, Sucker Punch Sally’s today announced the addition of Alex McClelland to its staff. McClelland will serve as Sucker Punch Sally’s dealer operations manager and will focus on sales and growth, adding new dealers to the network and developing marketing assets for existing dealers.

McClelland attended Purdue University and graduated at the top of his class from the Western Culinary Institute. He comes to Sucker Punch Sally’s with over five years of corporate sales experience for companies like Sysco Food Services and Xerox, which offers one of the top five sales training programs in the world. He has experience with both domestic and international customers, including Fender Musical Instruments, the University of Phoenix and Discount Tire. Originally from Frankfort, Indiana, McClelland now resides in Arizona with his dog Jack.

“Sucker Punch Sally’s is growing, and we want to respond to customer demand by both improving and expanding our dealer network,” said Christian Clayton, president of Sucker Punch Sally’s. “We needed someone to help with dealer development, and given Alex’s experience, we couldn’t have asked for a better fit.”

Sucker Punch Sally’s currently has 25 dealers throughout the United States, a number the company hopes to expand to 50 by 2009. But in addition to growing its dealer network and motorcycle model line, Sucker Punch Sally’s has also expanded into another market. This summer, Sucker Punch Sally’s introduced the public to its newest venture – the launch of SPS Beverage Company. Currently the beverage line includes the Original Octane energy drink and Sucker Punch Shine, a refined version of classic moonshine, but additional beverages are in the works.

This is the event that will change future Smoke Outs forever and it is so unique it requires a bit of explanation.

The 10th Anniversary Smoke Out (and all future Smoke Outs) will be one week long. The 2009 event will start in Cottonwood, AZ with a two-day blow out launch party. The party in Cottonwood starts Friday night May 8, 2009 and goes all day Saturday. The party will include the usual mayhem with music, venders, a chop-off, bike show etc.

Sunday morning the hardy chopper-jockeys that dare will start a 2,000-mile ride to the Rockingham Drag Strip in Rockingham, NC. The ride called, The Long Road, will be about a 350-mile ride each day with an insane party each night. The details of The Long Road are still coming together but the idea is a unique gathering each night provided by one of the Smoke Out event sponsors.

The Smoke Out will pick up riders and steam as it heads East and the event culminates at the Rockingham Drag strip for the biggest gathering of the chopper faithful in history. Everything comes together at ?The Rock? so mark Friday and Saturday May 15 and 16 on your calendars now.

The 10th Anniversary Smoke Out will be the most entertaining chopper event ever? period. We will have bands, a chop off, XS Speed?s mini-bike races (super-hero costume required), roller derby, venders, drag racing, and anything else we can think of between now and then.

AUSSIE CRYSTAL DOWN– The Aussie biker community lost a staunch mate with the sudden death of Geoff ” Crystal” Lelievre. Crystal was a long time petrol head and loved any machinery that went faster than it did when it came from the factory. A long time biker, in recent years Crystal set up the business of Ultimate Choppers Australia in order to import, assemble and distribute Big Bear Choppers in the land down under.

Crystal’s dogged determination enabled him to fight the nightmare of red tape and complexgovernment regulations needed to have the various models approved for sale in Australia and he successfully steered a number of BBC models through the onerous Australian Design Rules compliance procedure. It was mainly thru Crystal’s efforts that there is now a national dealership network and more and more Big Bear Choppers out there on Aussie roads.

A mate to many, a soul mate to his wife Sue, a loving family man and loving father of Chade, Tiana and his son Tareke. Crystal will be missed by many. Ride on brother.

BUSINESS ETHICS AND TODAY’S ECONOMY FROM JAL AIRLINES–Here is an airline CEO who can talk about business ethics without irony.

When his airline encountered tough times He cut all his perks, slashed his salary three times, takes the bus to work and eats in the company cafeteria.

He points out that the people being asked to take early retirement are the same generation he is. The company’s pilots now make more than he does.

I wish he had been my boss! I wonder what the U.S. ecomony would be like if more followed Haruka Nishimatsu’s example.

CITY OF STURGIS AND STURGIS MOTORCYCLE RALLY SPONSORS JOIN FORCES IN SUPPORTING COMMUNITY OF STURGIS–STURGIS, S.D. ? As the dust begins to settle from the 2008 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, the City of Sturgis is slowly closing the door on this years? event. Part of that process includes recognizing and thanking its Sturgis Motorcycle Rally sponsors for their varied contributions to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and the Sturgis community. For some, Sturgis Motorcycle Rally ?sponsor? may be a bit of a vague and perplexing term, the meaning of which more often than not seems to be a mystery of sorts.

?In having worked with the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally corporate sponsorship program for almost a decade,? commented Ronda Gusinsky who has represented the City of Sturgis in the sponsorship arena since 1999, ?the term sponsor, or sponsorship, really represents a type of partnership.?

?These corporations make an investment in, and form a relationship with, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and the community of Sturgis in return for the opportunity to have heightened exposure for their brand with the hundreds of thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts who come to Sturgis each year for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally,? Gusinsky continued.

According to Sturgis City Manager Dave Boone, the investment by the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally sponsors contributes hundred of thousands of dollars annually to the City?s bottom line.

?The sponsors? investment, revenues from the sponsorship fees, makes a significant reduction to the expense line in our budget,? Boone added, ?In addition to their sponsorship fees, the sponsors also provide many in-kind goods and services, everything from fire trucks and ambulances, to Mayor?s Ride t-shirts, Sturgis Motorcycle Rally promotional advertising in national publications and on TV, scoreboards and signage at athletic venues throughout Sturgis, as well as dozens of other goods and services that save the City money, so the City does not have to then underwrite these additional expenses.?

?This year, the City of Sturgis will present the Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce with a check for over $40,000, and will contribute another $20,000 to the Sturgis Rally Charities Foundation as well, which comes directly from the funds invested with the City of Sturgis by our corporate Sturgis Motorcycle Rally sponsors,? added LaRue.

In addition, according to Gusinsky, Sturgis Motorcycle Rally corporate sponsors ASE, Official Championship of Custom Bike Building/AMD and Da Bus Rally Shuttle, not only lent their support in the form of sponsorship to this year?s Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, but also made additional contributions to the community of Sturgis through their own corporate donations to the Sturgis Rally Charities Foundation. All totaled, contributions by Official World Championship, ASE, and Da Bus to the Sturgis Rally Charities Foundation were $6,500.00.

Robin Bradley, Publisher of AMD Magazine and Promoter of the Official World Championship of Custom Bike Building, sums it up best, “Making the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and the City of Sturgis our location for the Official World Championship of Custom Bike Building meant I started to come to the area regularly outside of Rally time. The more I did so, the more I got know the people and the community in a way that you never can by visiting just at Rally time. The more often I came, the more I was able to develop an appreciation and understanding of the huge impact that the Rally has.?

Mayor Maury LaRue feels that the community of Sturgis is extremely fortunate to have corporate partners like Official World Championship, ASE, and Da Bus, as well as this year?s other Sturgis Motorcycle Rally corporate sponsors: Alltel Wireless, AMSOIL, Ultra Wheel, BlackHillsVacations.com, Budweiser, Coca-Cola, Ford, GEICO, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Jack Daniel?s, Knology, MVP/Wheeled Coach, Outdoor Channel, Pak Mail, Rosenbauer, SONY, South Dakota Department of Tourism, South Dakota Lottery, South Dakota Pork Producers Council and Tom?s T?s.

?We need to not only recognize the contributions made by our Sturgis Motorcycle Rally sponsors, but more importantly publicly and sincerely thank them,? LaRue stated. ?These are very important, generous gestures.?

For information on the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, contact Brenda Vasknetz, acting Rally Director, at 605/720-0800, or visit www.SturgisMotorcycleRally.com.

HOW’S THAT FOR A NEWS?–There’s more from NCOM and Bill Bish, but you’ll have to wait for the Sunday Post for the rest, or our monthly legislative news from Bill. I feel like the world is scrambling for solutions to bad economic situations, global warming, bullshit terrorist threats and healthcare issues.

Art Friedman’s article on the CEO of JAL airlines hits the nail on the head. We wouldn’t have any of these issues if it wasn’t for greed. If the healthcare providers were fair we’d be in great shape. If the real estate folks handled business properly, we’d be fine. If executives across the country treated their companies like Mr. JAL does, we’d be cool.

All we want to do is build bikes, chase women and ride. We represent less than 1 percent of emissions floating in the air and they want to spend billions regulating us. Times are changing. We need to learn that there is a middle ground between regulation and freedom–I hope, goddamnit.
