HOUSE OF HARLEY 105 CELEBRATION PLANS–I was at a meeting last night at House of Harley in Milwaukee to plan some events for the Harley 105th anniversary celebration. “House” plans to have a theme each day of the event. On the first day (Aug. 27th) the theme will be Honoring Police Officers. 2nd day (Aug. 28th) will be honoring Military and Firefighters. The 3rd day (Aug. 29th) will be honoring Women. On this day they will feature Laura Klock, the fastest woman on a bagger.

I was thinking there will be a number of celebrities hanging around at House Of Harley as they role out their events and themes. They would make great biker news. They expect this bash to be as big as the 100th since H-D has sold 1.5 Million bikes in the past 5 years.

BELGIAN MASTER BUILDER WINS ARTISTRY IN IRON COMPETITION–Fred “Krugger” Bertrand owner of Krugger Motorcycles was crowned Master Builder Champion at the 2007 Artistry In Iron, Master Builders’ Championship held during the 7th annual Las Vegas BikeFest. Bertrand’s unique creation “Goodwood” was selected from among 20 master builder entries in the peer-judged competition. Each of the 20 builders voted for their top 5 favorites from the 20 bikes on display and Bertrand accrued the most points.

Bertrand who resides in Belgium brought “Goodwood” to the United States not just for the Artistry In Iron competition, but also to compete at the Motorcycle Speed Trials at the Bonneville Salt Flats earlier in September.

“I have realized my dream to compete at Bonneville on a show bike,” commented Bertrand. And, then to win Artistry In Iron’s Best of Show as well is fantastic.”

Bertrand received $20,000 from Las Vegas BikeFest as well as the Champion’s trophy designed and built by Tribal Motorworks of Traverse City, Michigan. Hot Bike Magazine, sponsor of Artistry In Iron will feature Krugger Motorcycles and “Goodwood” in an upcoming issue.

The Las Vegas BikeFest Custom Bike Show sponsored by Tribal Motorworks and Meguiar’s was held on Saturday at Fremont Street Experience. There were over 100 entries in three classes – Radical, Custom and Semi-Custom.

Roger Goldammer of Goldammer Cycle Works brought his latest creation “Nortorious” and won the Radical Class. His margin of victory was only one point over Christian Dotson of Dotson Design who had his unique “no forks” motorcycle on display. Goldammer won $5,000 and both Goldammer and Dotson will receive automatic invitations to Artistry In Iron 2008.

The Custom class was won by Billy Swope of Reno, Nevada with his ’93 Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic and the Semi-Custom class winner was Stacy Hawkins of Las Vegas, Nevada. Stacy displayed her “Diva Bike”, a 2005 Harley-Davidson Softail Deluxe.

There were 300 vendors in the Las Vegas BikeFest Vendor Village and 34,408 bikers attended.

KLOCKWERKS ROAD GLIDE WINDSHIELDS–Our new Road Glide style windshields will be able to ship Friday!! Our second round to Bonneville led to another record in SCTA ranks for Laura and WFB!

She was able to do 10 runs over the 141 mark and finally ended with a 146.279 record for the day going into a 10 mph headwind. You know firsthand what that can be like. The Windshield really works!

The infamous bagger wobble wasn’t prevalent at all this round, we have a patent pending on the windshield and its time to sell to everyone. The 8″ version works well for a solo rider.

THE CONDER SAGA–Yesterday I flipped a quarter to see which car to get running…Now, don’t go blabbing to everybody, chances are I’ll run out of money again…

Come to think of it, I don’t have any to START with!

Pulled ‘er outside, oiled the frame and got everything ready to travel…

For the first time in a long time, I flipped a quarter to see which car to finish…It was SATAN. That’s the ONLY TIMEit’s ever been “tails”. Afterward, when we looked at the quarter, it was minted in 2000, which was the year we went toBakersfield and started ATF.

I’m scared to DEATH at the thought of driving the car…that’s GOOD I think…maybe it proves I’m still sane! –

SARA LIBERTE ANNOUNCES NEWEST ADDITIONS TO HER PHOTOGRAPHIC SERIES–Liberte, a well-known and respected custom bike designer and photographer, will be releasing 4 new Images to be included in her Photographic series,” Builder and Machine”.

Builder and Machine” is Sara’s ongoing Fine Art series that focuses on Craftsmen. “Craftsmen are the rare breed, the dying breed. The craftsmen are the guys who can pretty much do anything like Metal fabrication, drawing, engineering, machining, wrenching, and fixing broken parts, painting, bodywork, along with mechanical knowledge etc. I set out to explore the true craftsmen in the motorcycle and automotive culture. Using my Image Fusion technique my goal is to create a portrait of each craftsmen combining a piece of who they are via their unique work.”

For something completely off the hook Sara has allowed color to come into play for her portrait of Rick Fairless of Strokers Dallas. “How can you represent Rick Fairless without color, his palette is such an integral part of his work.” Expressed Liberte.

Also in the line up is Jimmy Shine from So-Cal Speed shop. “Jimmy and I have been in touch for a few years now, I have not seen a level of craftsmanship from anyone like I have seen from Jimmy Shine.” Liberte stated.

LUCKY DEVIL IN HOUSTON STILL AT IT–Here is a shot of the latest conversion through the shop. I have to finish assembling the Nightrain chop over the next week and then I will turn my attention to finishing the Fat Boy frame work, so I can get Sin Wu’s bike locked down on the frame table for a little fun.

I’ll fill you in on the show info later but it was nice to have some extra time in the shop.
