It started out as a swarm. We watched them come from our second story.
More and more bees came and landed on the umbrella.
After about forty-five minutes, they all had landed and were migrating to the bottom of the umbrella.
For the next couple of days, this is where they began to make a honeycomb. I decided it was time to call in an expert, since they usually take off within 24-hours if they don?t like the location. 2 ? days later, I think they found a home.
Alex, from Golden Queen Honey & Bee came to relocate them. I didn?t want them to die.
After scraping the comb and bulk of the bees in to the box, he sat and waited for the others to fly in the box or land back on the table. He was very patient and did this a couple of times.
That?s it. Most of the bees loaded and the rest get sprayed. He had to kill the scent so scouts don?t lead any back.
Sorry, I had to run this. I thought it was so fascinating and since I took all these photos. As it turns out, they were common Honey Bees. Yes, I was the brave photographer.
