KIDS AND CHROME DIRECTOR STRUCK WITH CANCER–Bob Illingworth, one of the main directors in the Kids and Chrome effort to build funds for the Sturgis Museum and a Rapid City Childrens Hospital discovered that he has lung cancer:
?Bob (Illingworth) has asked me to pass on a little info to you,? said Pepper Massey, executive director, of the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum. ?He has been diagnosed with lung cancer and is going in for surgery tomorrow at noon. They caught it by accident, he had no symptoms, and is otherwise in remarkably good health, so the prognosis is good, at this point.?
?He is prepared to fight this, and we all know what happens when Bob sets his mind to something, he generally wins. Having said that, your prayers and your positive energy will go a long way to making him feel better and get him back on the streets causing trouble again.?
The Kids and Chrome effort is sponsored by Bikernet.com, and our support will always back Bob?s efforts with his health, charities or legislative efforts to keep motorcycles free. He?s one of the good guys.

BUSY TIMES PLANNED FOR FOUR CORNERS RALLY IN THE ROCKIES– Promoters of the Four Corners Rally in the Rockies are already expecting upwards of 100,000 motorcycles to hit the Four Corners Region over Labor Day Weekend. Those kinds of numbers mean record crowds and lots of activitiesTo keep up with more bikers, this year the organizers have put together a full list of events for Four Corners Rally in the Rockies, plus the days leading up to it. Anyone sitting around doing nothing Labor Day Weekend will be doing it by choice, and can?t blame anyone for being bored.
GREAT RIDES
Often called the rally of the rides, Four Corners Rally in the Rockies is situated in the heart of some of the most varied and fantastic riding in the West. To the north, the imposing and breathtaking San Juan Mountains await; To the east, Wolf Creek Pass and the Continental Divide challenge riders; South lie the deserts and the Anasai Ruins, and to the west lie Colorado?s Mesa Verde, Moab and the Unaweep territory?beyond that–the Four Corners and the Grand Canyon of Northern Arizona. But you don?t have to plan an epic journey to enjoy what the area has to offer. There are several shorter, less demanding rides if that is more your style, including Chimney Rock Loop, Mesa Verde National Park, Unaweep National Monument, Silverton, The Loop, Chama Loop, and Lake Vallecito, among others.
If sightseeing and packing on the miles isn?t really your thing, Four Corners Rally in the Rockies has an alternative. You can always cruise for cash. This riding concept is a multi-day poker run of sorts?with $10,000 in prize money up for grabs. Hit the stops as quickly, or as slowly, as you wish during the weekend, just have your card turned in before 6pm Sunday if you think you want to win.
The Rally in the Rockies website is an excellent resource for information on all aspects of the rally, including accommodations. You can check on rooms by calling 866-TO-RALLY, or check out the official website http://www.rallyintherockies.com/ or call 888-901-7701 for information. Come and feel the Thunder in the Rockies as thousands of bikes roar through the mountains.

CIRCLE OF FLIES–A farmer got pulled over by a State Trooper for speeding at 5 MPHover the posted limit, and the officer started to lecture the farmer about his speed, and in general began to throw his weight around to try to make the farmer uncomfortable.
Finally, the officer got around to writing out the ticket, and as he was doing that he kept swatting at some flies that were buzzing around his head. The farmer said, “Having some problems with circle-flies there, are ya?”
The officer stopped writing the ticket and said, “Well, yeah, if that’s what they are — I never heard of circle- flies.”
So the farmer says, “Well, circle-flies are common on farms. See, they’re called circle-flies because they’re almost always found circling around the back end of a horse.”
The officer says, “Oh,” and goes back to writing the ticket. Then, after a minute, the Officer stops and says, “Hey…wait a second, are you trying to call me a horse’s ass?” The farmer says, “Oh no, officer. I have too much respect for law enforcement and police officers to even think about calling you a horse’s ass.”
The officer says, “Well, that’s a good thing,” and goes back to writing the ticket.
After a long pause, the farmer says: “Hard to fool them flies, though.”
