WILL ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLES TAKE OVER THE WORLD THURSDAY NEWS FOR June 19, 2014

Hey,

Another strange day in paradise. I find it so odd that we run at every safety regulation and climate saving requirement. You’ll see the new Harley electric bike mentioned in the news. Part of their slant is saving the planet and motorcycling.

Quick, shoot anything that uses gasoline and makes noise and bury it in the backyard. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not against innovation. I’m for it, just don’t run off a cliff or mandate anything because of it.

It’s sorta like marijuana. It’s a drug, throw everyone in jail for decades, kill folks, crowd the prison system, fire co-workers who smoke. Then four decades later, say oops. Let’s make it legal, what the hell?

Electric bikes have problems too. They deal with heavy nasty batteries. They require charge often. Sometimes the charge comes from burning coal.

And just remember always: Loud Pipes Save Lives! No matter what anyone tells you Freedom is the shit. Let’s hit the news:

The Bikernet News is sponsored in part by Cycle Source Magazine and the Las Vegas Bikefest.

BIKERNET UNIVERSITY VOCABULARY LESSON OF THE YEAR–No English dictionary has been able to adequately explain the difference between these two words.

In a recently held linguistic competition held in London and attended by supposedly the best in the world, Samsundar Balgobin, a Guyanese man, was the clear winner with a standing ovation which lasted over 5 minutes.

The final question was:
How do you explain the difference between COMPLETE and FINISHED in a way that is easy to understand.

Some people say there is NO difference between COMPLETE and FINISHED.

Here is his astute answer –
When you marry the right woman, you are COMPLETE. When you marry the wrong woman, you are FINISHED, and when the right one catches you with the wrong one, you are COMPLETELY FINISHED!!

He won a trip to travel the world in style, and a case of 25-year-old rum

LEGENDS ROLL IN TO RIDE FOR CHARITY–
The Sturgis Buffalo Chip’s signature Legends Ride is poised to host a record number of riders and raise more charitable funds than ever before on Monday, Aug. 4.

The annual event draws in some of the biggest names in television, film, music and motorcycling, along with hundreds of riders from around the globe; and the 2014 roster of celebrity guests is shaping up to be one of the most spectacular to date. The Buffalo Chip organized the Legends Ride in 2008 to bring riders together to raise funds for local charities including Black Hills Special Olympics and the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame. In its six consecutive successful years, the ride has raised more than $325,000 for worthy Black Hills charities.

“The Legends Ride is an opportunity to meet the Rally’s biggest celebrities,” said Rod Woodruff, Sturgis Buffalo Chip CEO. “It gives riders the chance to give back to Black Hills charities, ride with the stars through some of the world’s most breathtaking scenery, bid on a magnificent custom bike and enjoy world-class entertainment.”

Riders gather on Deadwood’s Main Street beginning at 11 a.m. on Aug. 4 to check in, meet the celebrities and check out the bikes. The 2014 Buffalo Chip Student Build Challenge™ bike will be auctioned in support of the Legends Ride in front of Deadwood’s Historic Franklin Hotel. The motorcycle is a fully customized 2014 Harley-Davidson® Street Glide built by Sturgis Brown High School students under the instruction of industry veterans. Students worked side-by-side with the experts and learned state-of-art techniques while creating this beautiful, custom, 155 H.P. bagger. They entered the bike into the renowned Donnie Smith Bike Show in St. Paul, MN, where it took first place in the High School Build Open Class. It also won first place in the Full Custom Bagger Division at the Black Hills Motorcycle Show.

Celebrities so far confirmed for the 2014 Legends Ride include:

· Frank Fritz, star of History Channel’s “American Pickers”

· R. Lee Ermey, film star and Golden Globe Award Nominee

· Kristy Swanson, actress

· Arlen, Cory and Zach Ness of Arlen Ness Enterprises

· Lloyd Eisler, Olympic bronze medalist and the 1993 World Champion skater

· Joe Sylvester, TORC (The Off Road Championship) Pro Light Racer

· Mark Kvamme, TORC (The Off Road Championship) Pro 4 Racer

· Honky Tonk Man, professional WWE wrestling icon

The ride departs from Deadwood’s Main Street at 2:30 p.m. and leads participants through the most scenic areas of the fabled Black Hills. The ride culminates at the Buffalo Chip with a private catered reception and pre-concert party. A $150 donation is required from all riders, 100 percent of which benefit the two charities. Sponsors graciously provide riders general admission to Monday’s concerts by Zac Brown Band, John Mayall and The 4onthefloor, in addition to a Legends Ride souvenir gift pack and miles of the Rally’s best memories.

The Buffalo Chip’s Legends Ride has been featured on CMT, the National Geographic Channel, the Tonight Show, FX Network, Funny or Die and the Travel Channel as well as countless print, online and newspaper articles.

FREE GEORGE CHRISTIE–According to the Federal Inmate Locator, George is now at Long Beach RRM, which stands for Residential Reentry Management. His release date is August 6, 2014.

When I clicked on the link for Long Beach RRM, the page that came up gave me the impression that he is not actually there, but is possibly in a halfway house of some kind and they weren’t revealing the address.

HISTORY’s ‘American Picker’ Frank Fritz Joins Workshop Hero at J&P Cycles Open House Rally– Frank Fritz of HISTORY’s American Pickers will be on site at Workshop Hero booth at the J&P Cycles Open House Rally in Anamosa, Iowa on Sunday, June 29, from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. Fritz will be on hand to promote and sign his newly released book “How to Pick Vintage Motorcycles” and answer questions on the benefits of rust removal from vintage motorcycles using Metal Rescue™ Rust Remover Bath.

In addition, Fritz will autograph photos and copies of his book that features tips on how to find a collectible motorcycle, how to negotiate a good price and how to take care of your investment. “How to Pick Vintage Motorcycles,” published by Whitman Publishing, is a must have for any serious fan of classic motorcycles.

“Frank’s love of vintage motorcycles is another connection we share,” explained David Yancho, VP of Sales and Marketing, Workshop Hero. “Bringing Frank to our booth at the J&P Cycles Open House Rally is an ideal opportunity to unite our products and Frank in a venue that suits them.

Metal Rescue and Dry Coat are excellent products for homeowners, auto restoration, and fishing/hunting/camping enthusiasts, and we have a large customer base made up of bikers-especially when it comes to de-rusting gas tanks and chrome pieces. Frank’s promotion of his book “How to Pick Vintage Motorcycles” and Workshop Hero products are a match made in heaven.”

VIOLA V-TWIN EXPANDS SERVICE PARTS TO INCLUDE STOCK CAM CONFIGURATIONS–S&S Cycle has added cams with stock specifications to their Viola V-Twin line of service parts for American v-twin motorcycles.

S&S is well known for performance parts, but these cams from Viola V-Twin are all about keeping stock motorcycles in top shape. Keep that old iron on the road!

Why would you replace a stock cam with a new cam with the same specifications? Simple. Not all riders are looking for more performance. They love their bikes just the way they are. Think long distance touring riders! So when it’s time to rebuild an engine or replace worn cams, a cam with the original specs is the way to go.

Stock grind cams are available for 1984 to present Harley-Davidson big twins. Cams for 1999-’14 Twin Cam 88, 96 and 103 engines are compatible with the stock chain cam drive system. Stock grind cams do not increase performance, but they also don’t increase valve train wear, decrease fuel economy, or require a retune of the fuel system. Since they are service parts and don’t change the way the engine runs, stock grind cams are street legal for sale in all 50 states!

Contact your S&S Customer Service Representative today, or place an order on the S&S Dealer Portal.

Viola V-Twin – Quality Service Parts, endorsed by S&S Cycle. Saving you time, and making your life just a bit easier.

BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY NOW OPEN– Two days before the group is to leave, Jack’s wife puts her foot down and tells him he isn’t going. Jack’s mates are very upset that he can’t go, but what can they do. Two days later, the three get to St Andrews only to find Jack sitting at the bar with four drinks set up!

“Wow, Jack, how long you been here, and how did you talk your missus into letting you go?”

“Well, I’ve been here since last night.. Yesterday evening, I was sitting in my living room chair and my wife came up behind me and put her hands over my eyes and asked, ‘Guess who?”

I pulled her hands off, and there she was, wearing a nightie. She took my hand and pulled me into our bedroom. The room had candles and rose petals all over.

Well she’s been reading 50 Shades of Grey…On the bed she had handcuffs, and ropes! She told me to tie her up and cuff her to the bed, so I did. And then she said, “Do whatever you want.”

So, Here I am!

Read your upgrades to A/C quality fittings and safety wire. Get what you pay for. Another hint to ensure fastener is tight after a run when safety wire is not used. Try torque stripe. If fitting or nut loosens the stripe will break showing mis-alignment. I mark my upper motor mount bolts, one insists on loosening for no good reason.

The inside of the air plenum and all piping will be polished to a microscopic fish hook finish that may or may not make a flyin’ shit in the fuel atomization process at warp speed. All in the honor of the salt gods before us were offering all we can muster.

Starting with the backing plate Marc created a first class, heavy duty unit capable of storing and delivering ice cold air and fuel in abundance.

The intercooler will be sealed and equipped with a serrated ice tray designed to hold dry ice pellets…. minus 110 degrees of cooling directly above the intercooler.

Fresh air will be delivered via two air scoops strategically located in the tail section. Location to be determined during wind tunnel time scheduled for early August.

Dry ice provides temperatures between -78.5 degrees Celsius to -109.3 degrees. Dry ice is colder than water ice and leaves no residue as it changes state.

The composition results in low thermal and electrical conductivity.

Damn good thing as the fuel lines, electrical fuel pump and one filter located under the tail section next to the dry ice pellets provide cool fuel to the Horse Power Inc 62mm throttle body.

Stay tuned we have a few surprises in store. Hers a sneak peak at he latest creation out of Marc Susman’s Classic and Custom Rides shop.

These stellar hubs are offered with one piece or lug drive composite rotors from Paul Kittrell at Lyndall Racing Brakes. Amazing.

That’s all for now…Stay Tuned…Ride often, ride safe and Haul ASS!

BIKERNET UNIVERSITY ENGLISH DEPARTMENT APPROPRIATE WORD OF THE DAY--flak  flak , noun;

1. criticism; hostile reaction; abuse: Such an unpopular decision is bound to draw a lot of flak from the press .

2. antiaircraft fire, especially as experienced by the crews of combat airplanes at which the fire is directed.

…even on days when he was hit by flak , he would wind up his journal entries with a note about how well (or how poorly) he drove his F-4 back down onto the carrier, and often with a playful tone…

— Tom Wolfe, Mauve Gloves & Madmen, Clutter & Vine , 1976

A few miles ahead, John spotted several cushiony puffs of flak below the formation. He didn’t worry about the flak he could see, though. It was the flak he couldn’t see that was the killer.

INTERNATIONAL NEWS FROM KENTUCKY–On The Road from the Kentucky Motorcycle Association / K.B.A.

Berlin bans Hells Angels logo –June 18, 2014 – Germany – By Jason Overdorf; http://www.globalpost.com/ – Outlawing the MC’s symbols represents the latest weapon in a fight to stop Germany’s ‘biker wars.’… In the latest salvo of a battle to rein in outlaw motorcycle clubs, the authorities here are hitting the global Hells Angels brand where it hurts most: the logo.

Last month, the signature winged death’s head and “Hells Angels” label featured on the MC’s “cut,” or leather vest, were banned in the capital as the symbols of a criminal organization.

Although a tough-minded Hamburg judge outlawed Germany’s first Hells Angels charter in the city in 1983, the Hells Angels as an organization have never been banned across Germany.

Now the prohibition of the iconic logo has come about through an ironic twist.

When a former member of the banned Hamburg charter appealed to the court in April to be allowed to wear the club’s “colors,” the judge interpreted the original ruling to mean that the Hells Angels logo is illegal not only in Hamburg, but throughout the country.

“Now, all the other regions in Germany are thinking about that judgment,” said detective superintendent Matthias Frohn, deputy head of the Berlin police division responsible for curtailing the city’s motorcycle gangs. “Some, like Berlin, said, ‘If that deadhead is forbidden, then I guess it’s forbidden.’”

Since the ban of its first charter, the Hells Angels have taken advantage of an organizational structure that mimics global chains such as McDonalds and Starbucks to gain a big following in Germany. Just check out their website.

Frohn says it remains to be seen whether the broader ban on the club’s logo will be enough to finally scatter the gang.

Queensland bikies to have fighting fund after S.A. Gov’t loses High Court gang challenge – June 18, 2014 – Australia – By Robyn Wuth& Sean Fewster;

http://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/ – Queensland bikies will have nearly $180,000 in taxpayer money to fight the state’s tough criminal motorcycle gang laws after a landmark High Court decision. The Bulletin has discovered the South Australian Gov’t has been ordered to pay the Mongols outlaw club $178,000 in legal costs after losing a high-profile court battle four years ago to banish gangs from its borders.

Bikie sources said the money would be tipped straight into the bid to challenge the Vicious and Lawless Association Disestablishment laws pushed through by the Newman Gov’t. A senior bikie bearer told the Bulletin the legal bill represented only a small amount of money the government had “wasted” pursuing the club “unconstitutionally”. “Millions of dollars of taxpayer money has been spent, not just the $178,000 to cover our court costs,” he said.

“All those years compiling the history and putting it together before the court cases in the Magistrate Court, the Supreme Court and ultimately the High Court, and for what? “They ended up with nothing and the legislation was declared repugnant.”

He said the $178,000 would be used to cover legal bills, and any remainder would go into a “fighting fund” to challenge similar laws being used in Queensland and NSW. “There is no value in (governments) pursuing this … if a guy is breaking the law, they he will be caught and charged — you don’t need a special bikie law for that,” he said. “The courts have been tougher on bikers than they have on anyone else — we know that, we expect it.”

High profile critic of the laws, criminal lawyer Bill Potts of Potts Lawyers, said focused policing would be a more effective use of taxpayer money. “Costs follow the event and the loser, in this case the South Australian taxpayer, has to foot the bill,” Mr. Potts said. “How much simpler if governments had worked out that tougher laws don’t make a difference but more focused policing is the best deterrent.”

In 2010, SA’s bikie gangs — including the Finks, who later became the Mongols, formed a united front to challenge the state’s anti-association laws in the High Court.

The High Court ruled the laws obliged the state’s courts to impose control orders on bikies at the request of the Aty-General and police, without any evidence. It dubbed the legislation “constitutionally repugnant” and said it undermined the independence of judges and forced them to find guilt “based on assumptions”.

BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY OPEN–

I’m not saying let’s go kill all the stupid people. I’m
just saying let’s remove all the warning labels and let the problem work itself out.

A psychiatrist was conducting a group therapy session with four young mothers and their small children.

“You all have obsessions,” he observed. To the first mother, Mary: “You are obsessed with eating. You’ve even named your daughter Candy.”

He turned to the second Mom, Ann: “Your obsession is with money. Again, it manifests itself in your child’s name, Penny.”

He turned to the third Mom, Joyce: “Your obsession is alcohol. This too shows itself in your child’s name, Brandy.”

At this point, the fourth mother, Kathy, quietly got up, took her little boy by the hand and whispered, “Come on, Dick, we’re leaving.”
