The votes are in, although many more folks need to vote in future elections. I don’t like the face of our government right now, although I believe folks stepped up and voted for freedom over regulation. I truly believe we need another party, the Freedom party. It should be run by bikers.
I don’t want to get into politics. It’s like discussing sex or money. You’re bound to piss off someone, and I’m not going there, but to say that freedom works.
You’ll read what the NRA reports about this mid-term election in the news. I’m sure the MRF will also report in the near future.

Good timing for me. I just looked at this on the Bikernet web site. I have a 113 Ultima running the BDL with 9 springs and it kills me in traffic holding in the clutch.
How did this work for you on your trip?

BDL is offering lots of options. My Mudflap Girl FXR is only an 80-inch Evo with a cam and Branch Heads. It flys, but it’s still not a 113-incher. I dropped to six springs and was concerned about slipping, but it worked fine for me.
I also was told about soaking my plates in ATF overnight. This new system worked like a champ, but if you experience slipping BDL makes a tougher diaphragm spring. So, lots of options.
For November I’m going to install the BDL lock-up plate over springs. This might be the perfect fit for your bike. It allows me to have light touch springs and the lock-up system for those hard-throttle times.–Bandit
AUSTRALIAN POLICE STATE REPORT–Queenslands junior cops banned from laying anti-biker law charges
Only senior Queensland police investigators are allowed to use the states anti-biker laws amid concerns about embarrassing misuse by rank and file cops.
The ability to lay the most controversial charges under Queensland’s anti-biker laws was taken away from rank-and-file cops due to concerns about misuse, months into the Newman government’s crackdown on bikers.
A series of mislaid charges under the Vicious Lawless Association Disestablishment Act (Vlad) prompted an order that only senior investigators could approve the use of the laws, which add 15 to 25 years to standard jail sentences.
That was followed by a similar order on anti-association laws – which ban public gatherings of more than two motorcycle club “participants” – after a string of high-profile arrests that eroded popular support for the government’s signature law and order program.
While those cases remain on hold until the high court rules on a challenge to the laws by a Hells Angels tattooist, others highlighting police mistakes have played out in lower court hearings.
Other states including New South Wales and Victoria are widely expected to adopt versions of VLAD and the anti-association charges if the high court upholds Queensland’s regime, which is aimed at wiping out motorcycle clubs.
In August a Southport magistrate ruled that a middle-aged biker for whom police sought an extra 15 years’ jail over an alleged drunken assault on his girlfriend should never have been charged.
The magistrate, Terry Duroux, awarded extra costs to Highway 61 member Steven James Hudson, 62, who spent a week in jail before prosecutors dropped the VLAD charge in February.
Barrister Alastair McDougall told the court it was a “flawed investigation” by police constables who did not interview any witnesses apart from the alleged victim, whose heavy intoxication was omitted from her police statement.
Charges under VLAD, inspired by US Rico laws aimed at netting those who pull the strings in crime rackets, apply only if crimes are committed to advance a “criminal organisation”.
McDougall successfully argued it was “a fallacy … [that] a domestic dispute involving assault between elderly people in a caravan park is in some way ‘for the purposes of, or in the course of participating in the affairs of (Highway 61)’ ”.
One investigator told local media cases like Hudson’s had proceeded amid “concerns within the police service that a lot of police were charging people under VLAD just because they were bikers”.
McDougall in a separate case successfully urged a Brisbane magistrate to strike out VLAD charges against a small-time drug dealer whom police alleged constituted a criminal organisation along with two friends he supplied with several grams of speed and ecstasy pills.
Detective Inspector Brendan Smith told media there was now “a policy in place within the service to ensure [the laws are] applied appropriately.”
“An experienced commissioned officer with an investigative background is required to give approval before [VLAD and anti-association charges] are applied.”
A police commissioner’s circular published within the service on 12 February stated: “Officers are to obtain permission from their respective district detective inspector or operations manager (State Crime Command) before utilising the [VLAD] circumstance of aggravation.”
On 2 June, a similar order was published in respect to charges for criminal organisation “participants” being “knowingly present in public” in groups of more than two, entering banned clubhouses, and recruiting people into outlaw motorcycle clubs.
Among those facing a potential six months’ jail or more under anti-association charges is Brisbane librarian Sally Kuether, who walked into a Dayboro pub with her biker boyfriend and his clubmate wearing a Life and Death club jacket.
Three members of a Sunshine Coast family with links to the Rebels similarly could face jail for visiting a Yandina pub along with their wives and children.
Solicitor Bill Potts said that under the Newman government’s crackdown, there had been “a significant political expectation to act and act quickly”.
“I’m pretty sure the government and the police themselves were surprised at public concern about the way in which they were policing their laws,” he said.
Potts said there was a “political lesson … in allowing very junior police to arrest people on the basis of flawed intelligence or acting more on the way people looked or seemed”.
“Laws that don’t carry popular assent or are seen to be used in a draconian, piecemeal or imprecise basis will fall into disrepute rapidly,” he said.

The Helping with Horsepower Bike Rebuild Program is helping the Abbott House Celebrate their 75th Anniversary!
Forty young women from the ages of 9-17, all residents of the Abbott House in Mitchell,
South Dakota, worked alongside volunteer facilitators – Klock Werks’ Laura Klock,
Karlee Cobb, and Jennifer Bainbridge – to completely transform a Harley-Davidson Road King from something bare and neglected to a beautiful custom motorcycle.
“The Helping with Horsepower Bike Rebuild Programs have had a significant impact
on the Abbott House girls and staff,” said Eric Klooz, Executive Director of Abbott
House. “As the girls learn the various types and uses of tools and how to remove
motorcycle parts, they also learn life skills, such as perseverance, team work, and
problem solving. In addition, the financial impact of the motorcycle raffles has been
significant.
We are proud to draw the winner of this year’s project motorcycle at our 75th
Anniversary Celebration.” Klooz said.
Many leading industry businesses have recognized the value of this project and have

On New Year’s Day, 2012, Antonio Buehler witnessed Austin, Texas police officers attempting to pull a woman passenger out of a car they had stopped. He started to video record the incident using his cell phone and soon wound up in a confrontation of his own with the police.
Because Buehler refused to stop filming the police encounter, he was arrested and charged with felony “harassment of a public servant,” and faced two to 10 years in prison. He was ultimately cleared of the felony charge in 2013, but a new charge of “failure to obey a lawful order” was issued. That charge was a Class C misdemeanor and brought with it a $500 fine.
After his arrest, Buehler, an Iraq War veteran and graduate of West Point, co-founded an organization called Peaceful Streets Project. He teaches people how to videotape police interaction with citizens during an arrest and encourages posting the videos on social networks.
Through his work with Peaceful Streets Project, police have labeled him a “domestic threat” and claim his encouragement of videotaping police puts officers at an increased risk of danger. In March, 2012, the City of Boston paid $170,000 in damages and legal fees to Simon Glik for his 2007 felony arrest for videotaping police manhandling a suspect.
The First Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously ruled that Glik had a right to videotape police in public. There is now a Boston Police Department policy instructing officers not to arrest citizens recording them in public. In fact, 38 states allow citizens to record police, as long as there is no obstruction or interference with the officer’s performance of duties.

Although Massachusetts and Illinois had a ban on videotaping police, the First Circuit Court of Appeals covering Massachusetts ruled the ban was unconstitutional and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals covering Illinois declared that state’s ban unconstitutional.
Authorities in Illinois were told to stop enforcing it.

Illinois appealed that decision to the U.S. Supreme Court and lost. In any event, it’s a good idea to openly record as opposed to secretly recording police activity.
Police do not like being distracted while making an arrest and they may approach you if you are recording an incident. They might ask who you are and who you are doing the videotaping for.
Despite what they might tell you, First Amendment rights are not only afforded to the legitimate media. You have a constitutionally protected right to film in public. You also have a right to decline from showing your ID if asked, but 24 states allow police to request identification if they have reasonable suspicion you have committed or are about to commit a crime.
Are you being detained? Simply ask, “Officer, am I being detained or am I free to leave?” If you’re not being detained, it might be a good time to retreat before things intensify.
Still, recording at a safe distance where you are not interfering with the police has been determined to be legal. Street smarts are essential for avoiding undesirable results during a confrontation with police. Above all, avoid an aggressive posture while filming and do not point your camera or phone in any manner which could be mistaken as holding a weapon.
With the current problems facing police in Ferguson, Missouri, after the shooting of Michael Brown, there has been a call to outfit police with video cameras attached somewhere on their uniforms or hats. An expensive proposition, yet it could save cities hundreds of thousands of dollars in civil rights suits if it could be shown that police acted justifiably in the use of force. It could also prove the opposite, and some studies have shown that in departments that utilize the cameras, there has been more civil inter-action between police and members of the community. Perhaps video cameras are a key to less aggressive behavior from both sides.

Okay, we gotta admit it’s a tiny bit macabre to find a stellar group of antique, vintage and high performance motorcycles on display at a cemetery, literally the last place a bike fan wants to visit. But there was lively reasoning behind the appearance of 13 “celebrity” two-wheelers at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, the 1906 historic landmark located in Glendale, CA. The museum, part of the 300 acre property since 1957, has previously offered a wide variety of exhibits as they are “committed to enriching the community through the educational and entertaining presentation of artwork that focuses on history, culture or religion.”

UNCLE MONKEY ON LEARNING AND RESPECTING TALENT—
Watching others work, create; it can be easy to get drawn in believing what they are doing really isn’t that hard. We all have things we know we can’t do or shouldn’t do like when it comes to singing in public. But watching people who are good at what they do gives a false sense of simplicity. We don’t see the raw talent; the hours of practice and determination that goes into making something seem effortless.
My Achilles heel is that I cannot draw. I can smudge my way through something that could even be considered decent but give me a blank piece of paper and tell me to draw something and I’m at a loss.
It is frustrating watching someone sitting down and with a few movements of a pencil and Bob Marley or Fred Flintstone is staring back from nowhere. It’s like that in many things. People think anyone can work in the trades; after all it isn’t complicated mathematics, biology or chemistry. They only see the effort and the final result and assume it must be easy.
People think build a bike is as simple as they show it on TV. It is just a frame, a couple of wheels and a motor to make it move. They don’t see the knowledge behind, knowing what parts fit together, how to make those parts fit together.
Putting ape hangers on a bike should be a simple task but judging from the eight splices in each wire of the harness whoever installed those bars on my RoadKing should stick to oil changes.
So, next time you see someone easily do something remember that that there is talent, practice, and persistence to make it seems so.

At the beginning of this year, I asked you and your fellow NRA members to help win the most important election in our freedom’s history.

Nearly everywhere you look on the map – Arkansas, Colorado, West Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Wisconsin, Texas, Kentucky, Iowa, Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Idaho – the pro-gun candidates we endorsed through NRA’s Political Victory Fund won big races over their anti-gun opponents.

As most of you know, Road Weasels Motorcycle Club will be a driving force towards raising money towards the Ross Tomas YEP (Youth Enrichment Program), which will help ‘Grow Our Youth’! This is going to be a non-profit 501(c) organization and a portion of each membership will go towards this program and each year we will award scholarships to deserving youth which you will be a part of.
There is already a scholarship in Ross’s name at McPherson College, in Kansas, which will benefit one youth studying motorcycle restoration; this program will be similar with the hopes of benefiting a lot of youth along the way.

Mark Mederski named to Antique Motorcycle Foundation Board of Directors
November 5, 2014 — Antique Motorcycle Foundation President Jon Radermacher has announced that Mederski has been appointed to the Foundation’s Board of Directors. Radermacher states, “Mederski has compiled a long record of accomplishments in both the current and antique motorcycle communities over a 35-year career, and we are thrilled that he has agreed to bring his talent and experience to our Board.”
Mederski’s love for motorcycling dates back nearly five decades. He has been an AMCA member for nearly 20 years, a VJMC member for 30, and was a club road racer during the 1970s. He is a student of the history of motorcycles, regardless of country of origin, and the people who have ridden them, raced them, or used them for transportation in America.
As a skilled marketer, Mederski presided over a long period of membership growth at the American Motorcyclist Association and brought its Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum into national prominence. He has also been successful in planning antique motorcycle events and festivals.
Mederski’s current work is with the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, Iowa. About his new position as a Director of the Antique Motorcycle Foundation, Mederski said, “I hope to continue to help tell the exciting stories of antique motorcycling, impress upon more people their interest and worth, and advance the mission to preserve and present them as this will help ensure that motorcycling remains a vital sport for decades to come.”
Mederski currently owns about 30 collectible motorcycles from Europe, England, Japan, and America, a wood shop, and a large motor library.

THAT’S ALL FOLKS—We or I should say, I have a mission for next year. It’s a scary one. We need to cut the number of projects we/I have in half.
So, how in hell can I do that? The design is to have more fun, and more time in life next year. I have a difficult time just writing those words. It’s like I’m breaking a code.
I hope to finish my second Chance book by the end of this year, and maybe just play with my screenplay effort next year. We have a book project for guys blistering on the edge of our conference table, but I’m not sure I want to go there, besides it’s another project.

I will be working with American Bikers on my Indian Project, and with Kent Weeks on our historical trike streamliner, but I’m not building any new bikes in the Bikernet Interplanetary headquarters. On the other hand, we will rebuild Krash Kranzler’s dresser/bagger and get him back on the road. We are making a few changes to the Bonne Belle for Bonneville, in fact hopefully I will see the new Bare Knuckles rear fender next week. We are still searching for a WR or WLDR engine.
Plus, we have a 1968 Rapido which needs to be our pit bike. I need to clear a lift. Plus, I’m working with Marilyn Stemp to hopefully help kick off the Sturgis Museum expansion. Of course, one project always leads to another one. We were brain-storming on how to help the Sturgis community grow during non-rally times. We came up with a hot notion. We just need a trade school or college campus to explode onto the scene, but would the community fathers embrace such a notion? Who the hell knows, but it’s worth a try.
And I continue to work with Chris Callen and Cycle Source in conjunction with the MRF to build a Motorcycle Riders Foundation Industry Council. Anything to help our industry stay free. Everything I do is only possible because of you, our Bikernet Readers and Sponsors. So, you come first. We are constantly looking for ways to improve.
