So far it’s mainly interviews with rock music legends and motorcycle icons, mixed with some great riding footage. But the show is growing. He already has a TV platform called THE COOl TV carrying the show, and was aired over a hundred times in 2015.

Last November he covered a show similar to the one he’s covering this weekend, April 1-2 leading up to Arizona Bike Week. In the November show he filmed and interviewed ‘80s Rocker Sabastian Bach of Skid Row fame. He works side by side with his co-host Ed Leclere to put on an exciting show.

The show Has already gone from domestic viewing to worldwide live streaming. While live streaming the show last November with some amazing “interactive ” technology which allows the viewer to actually communicate with Mike and Ed, they were receiving live communication from Europe, South America, Canada, as well as all over America.

This weeks music lineup and interviews are boasting the likes of “Alice Cooper” who will actually be performing with his son and his sons band “CO-OP and doing three of his most legendary rock hits.

JIMS Tool of the Week 3-31-16–Cam Change Essential Tools for Late Twin Cam Engines –
JIMS Has It All!

Changing camshafts on current Twin Cam engines requires specialty tools to do the job right. JIMS manufactures all of the tools to perform this job.

Before you can remove the cams, you must lock the primary drive chain and sprockets with JIMS No. 994 Sprocket Lock Tool which is also used in the final assembly. The inner cam bearings need removal without damage to the engine case or bearings.

JIMS No. 993 Inner Cam Bearing Remover Tool safely pulls bearings from the case while keeping the needle bearings intact. Installation of new inner bearings to their correct depth is done with JIMS No. 787 Inner Cam Bearing Installer Tool.

To install new camshafts into the cam support plate, use JIMS No. 990 Cam Assembly Tool to hold cams in position while guiding them through the cam plate with their timing marks aligned. This tool has protective guides made of non-marring material to prevent damage to the cams bearing surfaces.

All of these tools are made in the USA and feature JIMS lifetime tool warranty. Check out JIMS catalog at www.jimsusa.com to see all of our tools for Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

BIKERNET SPONSOR GIVES BACK TO THE MILWAUKEE ART SCENE–
A vibrant arts scene provides entertainment excellence, engages diverse audiences, boosts our economy, educates our kids and enhances health and well-being. In short, the
performing arts are vital to our community and our quality of life.

Attorney Michael Hupy has been giving back to the Greater Milwaukee area for over 20 years, donating to UPAF and championing the performing arts as an essential part of our community.

The performing arts annually reach thousands of families throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. The Hupy family has been actively involved in the performing arts for decades, sharing their time, money and talents with the Greater Milwaukee area. The Hupy children both participated in the Milwaukee Ballet School for years, and later took what they learned from dance and applied it to their careers.

Attorney Michael F. Hupy is the senior partner at Hupy and Abraham overseeing 11 offices in three states. Through Attorney Hupy’s leadership during the past three years, the firm has donated more than $500,000 to worthwhile organizations and causes. The Hupy family has supported UPAF for over 20 years, and Attorney Hupy is currently a UPAF Cabinet member. He graciously agreed to answer a few questions about his continued support of UPAF.

Q:
Why are you on the 2016 UPAF Cabinet?

A:
My wife and I have been committed to the city of Milwaukee since we got married and moved to our Milwaukee home and we certainly try to support the area’s rich arts and cultural offerings. I am on the Cabinet because our son and daughter benefited greatly from being in the Milwaukee Ballet School and the Milwaukee Ballet. After seeing how the arts impacted my children, I wanted to increase my involvement by supporting UPAF.

Q:
How have the performing arts impacted your family?
Rex Hupy dancing while studying at Northwestern

A:
The arts have impacted my family beyond the fact that my wife and I enjoy them. The performing arts have also greatly impacted our children by giving them the opportunity to work hard and become superb ballet performers. My son Rex and my daughter Maxine were part of the Milwaukee Ballet School all through grade school and high school. Now, Maxine is living in Hollywood and performs all over the world, dancing and singing alongside world-class talent.

Rex is no longer in dance but his experience has been a great resume-builder and taught him commitment and how to achieve his goals. He attended the School of American Ballet in NYC as a scholarship student in 2009. He and my wife, Suzanne, attended the New York City Ballet Gala last year at Lincoln Center.

Thank you for supporting UPAF and Milwaukee’s performing arts groups!

The opportunities available to the Milwaukee community are making a difference in so many lives.

ZIPPER’S CHOSE THE NUMBER 107– Zipper’s Muscle 107-inch Kit

Zipper’s Sport 107-inch Kit for 2007-Up Big Twins

Zipper’s Sport 107 kit for 2007-Up Big Twin bikes is designed to provide maximum torque and horsepower in the range where most of us ride – between 2,000 and 5,000 RPM.

If you’re the type of rider who rarely runs your engine to redline, this kit is for you. We’ve carefully matched our Stage II cylinder head design with our Red Shift 575 camshafts and optimized the compression ratio for super strong low and mid-range acceleration. With just a twist of the wrist, you’ll have the power to pass without downshifting, even when your bike is loaded down for the long ride!

Zipper’s Sport 107-inch Kit–Zipper’s Blueprinted Twin Cam Big Bore Cylinder Kits

Zipper’s Machining Services offers our blueprinting service for factory Twin Cam cylinders that allows you to increase your engine size by simply replacing your stock cylinders and pistons with our specially modified units.

We start with a seasoned set of factory cylinders. Once they are cleaned and inspected, the dowels are removed and the head gasket surface is precision machined for flatness and optimum gasket sealing surface. Then each cylinder is bored to the desired undersize before being fitted with torque plates and honed in stages on our Rottler CNC hone, precisely fitted to the hand-measured pistons chosen for the application.

These kits are available on a cylinder-exchange basis or you can purchase cylinders outright from Zipper’s at a very reasonable cost.

CAMBODIA MOTORCYCLE TOURS COMING TO BIKERNET–

It is going to take a bit of time to get it up and running. Hoping to have everything up and in place by the New Year. Seems like a long way off, but next minute, it will be upon us.

We have sourced bikes already, just getting the logistics of that sorted out. Big bikes in Cambodia are a hassle and very expensive.
They will be Honda, not that big..but have to be right for the conditions,
and be able to get parts, etc.

I am also looking at doing a farm stay for young adults an teens.
The wayward, entitled little assholes who don’t know how good they got it until they have to work to eat..like in the song…holiday in Cambodia….dead Kennedy’s.

Reckon there are a heap of parents out there who would love to utilize that service..could be good for drug rehab too…you want to eat, you work…you want to run away…land mine that way…ha ha.
It will be good.

WORDS FROM THE MASTER–

When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be. –Lao Tzu

Let Go, two little words that can have profound change in our Lives. Most of us carry a lot of mental baggage around with us every day. The weight of this baggage holds many of us back from living our Truth, from living fully in the present, from being the Divine Expression of Life we are meant to be.

Some of the things we must Let Go of in order to move on, are thoughts of hate, anger, mistakes, regrets, resentment, fear, doubt, revenge, the past. As you read these words please Pause and reflect on how much of Living the Good Life is robbed from you by holding on to this baggage. How many times have you beaten yourself up over something you did or did not do? What Joy have you missed because you were once told that you could not do something?

How much energy have you given to negativity, to hate, to fear? Emerson wrote a quote “for every minute you remain angry, you give up sixty seconds of peace of mind”. I do an exercise quite often where I replace the word anger with another negative word and think of what I am missing. For instance “for every minute I give to the past I lose sixty seconds of Living in the present.”

Is now time to Let Go of any stifling baggage? What is done is done, we cannot change it, but we can change where we are today, right now.

And So It Is

–Namaste’

Today’s Spiritual Exercise if you choose

Think and write down what was the best part of your yesterday

Write at least five things you are grateful for

Reflect on this week’s goals for the week

Make a list of what you choose to Let Go of today and begin the emancipation

You can do it!

–Venerable Master Yale

LOWBROW CLASSICS Factory Racer Inspired Gas Tanks For Custom Harley-Davidson Motorcycles–
Lowbrow Customs offers new bolt-on bobber gas tanks for Harley-Davidsons. Inspired by factory race bikes of the 1940’s, this cut-down, classic style can be appropriated for Knucklehead, Panhead and Shovelhead motorcycles.

The WX Gas Tanks from Lowbrow Customs are directly influenced by the Harley-Davidson WR, but with an innovative design that allows these new gas tanks to fit almost a half-century’s worth of motorcycles. In 1946 Harley-Davidson introduced the WR factory racer, a 45 cubic-inch flathead designed to dominate the flat tracks and road courses in America. The narrowed tanks were part of the slim profile and ‘all-business’ form that follows function when it comes to a fast and nimble motorcycle.

The beauty and simplicity of Lowbrow Customs’ WX Gas Tanks is that with the included, innovative rear mount they will bolt right up to your stock Harley-Davidson Big Twin frame from 1936 – 1984. Get a custom, narrowed look with a tight gap between the tanks and no fabrication required. These are the perfect tanks for a custom Shovelhead or Panhead chopper, bobber or custom motorcycle.

WX Gas Tanks have a capacity of 2.25 gallons and feature both a vent and fuel crossover and accept a 22mm fuel petcock, and accept standard cam-style Harley-Davidson motorcycle gas caps. For details call toll-free 1-855-456-9276 or see www.lowbrowcustoms.com/wxtanks

SECRET Transcription of March 22, 2016 Joint Hearing of the Subcommittee on Energy and Power and the Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy–
Fiscal Year 2017 EPA Budget.

Begins 2:45:15
U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (R-NC) questioned EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy on the agency’s proposed regulation that would prohibit the conversion of a motor vehicles, even if they are used solely for competition or become nonroad vehicles.

Hudson:

I’m sure you’re familiar with EPA’s proposed rule released last July that proposed new GHG standards for medium and HD trucks. Are you aware that in the middle of that proposed rule there’s a proposal by EPA to make it illegal to modify vehicles used solely for competition?

MacCarthy:

No, I don’t believe that’s what it says, but I certainly understand the section you are talking about.

Hudson:

I can read the language to you; Certified motor vehicles and motor vehicle engines and their emission control devices must remain in their certified configuration even if they are used solely for competition or if they become nonroad vehicles or engines. It seems pretty clear to me. In your opinion are owners of vehicles that have been modified so they can be used for competition now in violation of the law?

MacCarthy:

There’s a clear exemption in the statute that addresses NASCAR and other professional raceways and why we do not regulate those vehicles. I think we are very directly trying to make sure that we are doing no more than what we’ve done before in terms of either compliance or enforcement. And we’re trying to recognize that exemption in that rule. I fully realize that this has raised a lot of confusion and we need to address this confusion moving forward. Because there is no way… NASCAR’s been a great partner of EPA. They do great work on biofuels. The last thing I want to do is alienate them, that’s for sure.

Hudson:

But NASCAR is one facet, what about a man or woman that likes to take a car in their backyard and fix it up and take it down to their local drag strip and race it. That kind of modification it appears very clearly is now ruled out.

MacCarthy:

We’ve never ever enforced on an individual of that nature. What we are trying to do is get at the manufacturers of these devices that they sell and make sure they sell them only for competitive, dedicated vehicles. Because it’s really challenging to us to make sure that the certified vehicles remain in compliance with air regulations.

Hudson:

I appreciate what you are saying, but it says here that emission control devices must remain in their certified configuration even if used solely for competition. The rule sounds different than what you are saying.

MacCarthy:

We’ll do the very best we can. We’ve had substantial amounts of discussion. Whatever we can do to clarify this we’re going to be able to take those steps.

Hudson:

What about taking the words “used solely for competition” out?

MacCarthy:

I’ll have to see it in it’s entirely. I’m not a lawyer. I appreciate the need to use common sense language.
I know that what I’ve told you is what our intent was and we will make sure the language matches that.

Hudson:

I certainly appreciate that. Because not only is this an important way of life for a lot of Americans who enjoy taking cars and modifying them so they can race, but it’s a billion dollar industry of aftermarket folks who make parts for people to use in competition. I remember back in February you testified before the Committee and you made the point that not one EPA regulation has ever cost one job. I tell you, this is a billion dollar industry that will be wiped out if we can’t clarify this and make sure the intent you’ve expressed is reflected in the regulation.

Reach out to the AMA quick. Make your voices heard.–Bandit

S&S OIL PUMPS TO THE EVO RESCUE—
Anytime you put a cam in an Evo it’s good to switch out the breather gear with a steel one from S&S. I asked Bruce about replacing the pump and here’s what he had to say:

Needless to say we like to sell oil pumps, but you are right. Most of the time oil pumps don’t need to be replaced unless debris has been run through them.

Unfortunately, considering their age, an awful lot of Evo engines have had some sort of problem and it’s a really good idea to inspect and sometimes replace the pump.

AMD World Championship entries running ahead of schedule–
Entries for this year’s AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building opened at the beginning of February, and as at mid-March, after just seven weeks, and including our affiliate event qualifiers, there were already 46 bikes entered by 38 competitors from 13 different countries – including entries from as far afield as Israel and Japan!

Following the success of the 2014 experiment of hosting the AMD World Championship at the 200,000 plus attendance INTERMOT Expo in Germany, the event is now slated to be held there in October this year (October 5 – 9), and also in 2018 and 2020.

Tapping into INTERMOT’s ready-made attendance achieved the aim of giving the custom motorcycle industry access to the largest possible audience of potential customers yet achieved by the AMD World Championship.

The competitor community voted the 2014 experiment a success, and as a showcase to energize existing custom fans and enthuse new potential customers for the sector, the AMD World Championship’s presence at INTERMOT is a “slam dunk,” according to Championship Director Neil “ShowMaster” Blaber.

Show organizer Koelnmesse has responded to the 2014 success by now creating a dedicated ‘Show-within-the-Show’ concept for the custom motorcycle market, with ‘INTERMOT Customized’ slated to be stage in the 235,000 sq. ft. Hall 10 – one of the six halls of the state-of-the-art Koelnmesse complex in which INTERMOT will be staged this year.

This year is expected to see possibly the largest audience ever for any custom bike competition, anywhere.

STAR-spangled awesomeness! Trump Patriots biker group plans to provide security for all future Trump rallies–
Outstanding! God Bless these patriotic bikers!

Trump Patriots is the Facebook page for a nationwide biker group that has vowed to provide security for future Trump rallies so that The Donald may exercise his First Amendment rights.

Anti-American, anti-Trump groups such as Black Lives Matter and George Soros-funded MoveOn.org have caused much havoc at recent Trump rallies, so much that one rally (Chicago) was canceled by Trump for crowd safety concerns.

From Trump Patriots Facebook page, not to be confused with our own Trump page, Trumpatriots: “Patriotic Bikers, from all across the United States are planning to show up at ALL future TRUMP rallies to make sure that any paid agitator protesters don’t take away Mr. Trump’s right to speak, Or interfere with the rights of Trump supporters to safely attend. “WE SHALL NOT BE SILENCED!”

BIKE WEEK/SPRING BREAK ARRESTS UP–
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The State Division of Alcohol and Tobacco on Monday revealed its final number of arrests for spring break at Daytona Beach.

More than 400 were arrested for underage drinking during Spring Break with fake IDs purchased online, officials said. More than 125 fake IDs were seized during Spring Break 2016.

“The bouncers primarily came up with the bulk of these. Then, knowing ABT was out there, would flag them down and say ‘Hey look, you need to take a look at this,'” said Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood.

A majority of the confiscated IDs had misplaced or missing holographic security features, according to investigators.

This year, record crowds along the water have resulted in a high number of people being cited for alcohol violations, officials said.

“If you’re taking their license away from them early enough in the game, you’re preventing them from going out and getting alcohol, which prevents a lot of alcohol fueled violence,” said Chitwood

Meanwhile, arrests were up at this year’s Bike Week in Daytona Beach, which precedes spring break. According to the News-Journal, there were 398 arrests this year, up from 318 last year.

Police also handed out over 1,000 citations, many of which went to riders who were revving their engines too loudly.

H-D’s CVO models, the ultimate factory custom—
New book from MotorBooks.

Since the inception of the CVO line, which began in 1999 on an FXR platform, one fact has become crystal clear: CVO models are not for the timid. Indeed, these motorcycles have absolutely no place at all among the meek.

Consistent in media reviews of CVO models over the years is often a pointed remark about the bikes’ premium price tags. Equally consistent however, is the follow-up by most reviewers that the particular CVO model in the spotlight is a good value!

Motorbooks is excited to announce the arrival of a new Harley-Davidson book, licensed by Harley-Davidson. Chronicled here for the first time, Harley-Davidson’s CVO motorcycles are pure eye candy. Harley-Davidson CVO Motorcycles: The Motor Company’s Custom Vehicle Operations by Marilyn Stemp will be arriving in stores in early April.

Marilyn’s book is for sale in the 5-Ball Racing Shop.

BRAND New Bikernet Reader Comment!–

That bike looks like a ripper! I would love to take that up a few hillclimbs and see how the torque and weight feels. Jim has great pride and enthusiasm and some sweet engineering in that beast.

You gotta love a unique and one-off dual sport monster like this. Great work, Jim!

Geoffrey Trachtenberg of Law Tigers Listed Among the Top 100 Lawyers in Arizona for 2016

Congratulations to Law Tiger’s Geoffrey Trachtenberg, listed once again as one of Arizona’s Top 100 Lawyers by Arizona Business magazine.

Each year, Arizona Business magazine publishes a list of the top 100 lawyers in Arizona. These lawyers are chosen by industry experts and the selection process is a daunting one. Over 1,000 lawyers are examined for this list. Selections are narrowed down and ultimately chosen based on the lawyer’s professional success, impact on his or her law firm, impact on the community, and impact on the legal profession.

Only the best of the best are included in Arizona Business magazine list and it is one of Arizona’s most distinguished legal honors. In fact, of the 100 attorneys selected, only 6 practice in the area of personal injury and wrongful death, and none focus just on motorcycle injury. This means, when you hire the Law Tigers, you are getting the very best legal representation from one of the very lawyers in the state.

Since graduating from the University of California, Berkeley in 1997, Geoff has been a devoted advocate for injured motorcycle victims and their families in Arizona. He is licensed to practice in 4 states: Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Utah. He focuses his practice mainly on motorcycle personal injury litigation and appeals. He is Board-Certified in personal injury and wrongful death litigation – a certification less than 1% of attorneys achieve. He was also recently listed in “Best Lawyers in America” by U.S. News & World Report and selected for inclusion in the “Super Lawyers – Top 50” in Arizona.

Geoff has spent his career with the Law Tigers taking on large insurance companies and corporations on behalf of the “little guy” and winning. Some of the firm’s most notable cases include a $4.5 million award for a trucking accident victim who sustained a below-the-knee amputation and a $2.75 million award for a motorcyclist who sustained permanent hip and arm injuries after a catastrophic accident.

Geoff doesn’t just offer exceptional legal representation for his clients, he is also a leader in the Arizona legal community. Recently, Geoff was chosen by his colleagues to serve as President of the the State Bar of Arizona. In this role he leads the Board of Governors and oversees the State Bar’s $15 million annual budget.

Geoff is also President-Elect and an executive director of the Arizona Association for Justice, the primary organization devoted to protecting the rights of injured persons. And, consistent with Law Tiger’s mission to help our community, Geoff volunteers for numerous organizations throughout Arizona, including the Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS and the Arizona Brain Injury Association. Geoff also routinely provides legal services to poor and indigent, assisting them with legal issues free of charge.

The Law Tigers are very proud of Geoff’s accomplishments and we’re delighted to be able to offer our injured clients and their families such venerable legal expertise.

Special pricing only $1.99 for Bikernet Readers from Thursday March 30th through April 1st normally $24.95 in print. The Kindle book version promotion will end April 6th.

I visited 35 piers from San Diego to Santa Cruz on motorcycles. This picturesque travel book includes a little history, vintage and current photos and information from a rider’s perspective: ease of access, available parking, restaurants, nightlife, lodging accommodations and overall rider-friendly vibes and attitude.

As a Moto-journalist, I ride a lot of different bikes and just like each pier; every bike has its own personality so I choose a different motorcycle for each part of the journey. Butler Maps provides small map insets of each Pier. This journey is meant to be started from any pier, then pick a direction and enjoy.

5-BALL RACING IS BUILDING THE BIKERNET BIKER LIBRARY–
There’s crime, drugs, sex, random violence, death aplenty: The life and dangerous times of a 1% Club President, Terry the Tramp.

The core subject of this book is freedom. Some folks find their way to the bright white side of the tracks, but there’s a small percentage who run through the dark alleys of life. Even a smaller portion of those survive.

Terry “the Tramp,” grew up with a violent chip on his shoulder. He became the international president of one of the most notorious 1%er motorcycle clubs in southern California, the Vagos MC, and remained in office through upheaval, indictments, drugs, and gang wars for 26 years, until he was unceremoniously extricated.

FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE WATCH REPORT—
SENATE

SUPPORT – S.127. A bill to prohibit Federal funding for motorcycle checkpoints, and for other purposes. Prohibits the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) from issuing grants to states for motorcycle-only checkpoints.

SUPPORT – S.685. Autocycle Safety Act. The stated purpose of this bill is to prescribe safety standards for autocycles and related equipment, and for other purposes. It will essentially create a new class of vehicles known as autocycles.

These types of vehicles have been lumped in with motorcycles and therefore tagged and registered as motorcycles, but clearly they not motorcycles and they need their own category. With this bill, an autocycle would be required to meet both motorcycle safety standards as well as passenger vehicle standards in vehicles weighing less than 10,000 pounds.

These standards include seating systems, belted occupant protection, child restraints, roof crush resistance, and flammability protections.

SUPPORT – S.766. Driver Privacy Act of 2015. Makes the data retained by an event data recorder “Black Box” the property of the owner or lessee of the motor vehicle in which the data recorder is installed.

HOUSE

Rep. Mark Sanford (SC-1), Jeff Duncan (SC-3), Trey Gowdy (SC-4), Mick Mulvaney (SC-5), and Jim Clyburn (SC-6) have not sponsored or cosponsored any of the following House Bills.

Joe Wilson (SC-2) is a cosponsor on H.R.704.
Tom Rice (SC-7) is a cosponsor on H.R.22 and H.R.704.

SUPPORT – H.R.21. To provide for a comprehensive assessment of the scientific and technical research on the implications of the use of mid-level ethanol blends, and for other purposes. Calls for the study of the new, untested, higher blends of ethanol fuels.

SUPPORT – H.R.22. Surface Transportation Reauthorization and Reform Act of 2015. Also known as the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation
(FAST) Act, this bill is a 5-year $305 billion dollar fully funded reauthorization of federal highway and transit programs. Public Law 114-094.

WATCHING – H.R.704. To amend the Clean Air Act to eliminate certain requirements under the renewable fuel program, to prohibit the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency from approving the introduction into commerce of gasoline that contains greater than 10-volume-percent ethanol, and for other purposes. Amends the Renewable Fuel Standard to recognize market conditions and realities.

It will also prohibit the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency from allowing the introduction into the marketplace of gasoline blends with more than 10 percent of ethanol by volume.

SUPPORT – H.R.1861. Stop Motorcycle Checkpoint Funding Act. Prohibits the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) from issuing grants to states for motorcycle-only checkpoints.

SUPPORT – H.R.2526. Black Box Privacy Protection Act. This bill will require automobile manufacturers to disclose to consumers the presence of event data recorders, or black boxes, on new automobiles, and require manufacturers to provide the consumer with the option to enable and disable such devices on future automobiles.

SUPPORT – H.R.2892. Autocycle Safety Act. This bill defines “autocycle” as a motor vehicle with three wheels, a fully enclosed occupant compartment, and a steering wheel, which is subject to applicable federal motor vehicle safety standards. Specified interim automotive and motorcycle safety standards apply to autocycles until at most three years after enactment of this Act, by which time the Department of Transportation shall issue appropriate final rules, interpretations, and test procedures. Automotive fuel standards also apply to autocyles.

Additionally, you should bring up the Anti-Profiling bill language recently sent out on the MRF Release. The bill can be found on the MRF website.

Hope this helps,
–J. Ryan Hubbard

5-BALL RACING SALT TORPEDO NEW BRIEF–
I don’t have the project drawn out in blueprints or anything, as I mentioned it takes about as much time to put it on paper as it does to just start in, with a little old fashioned prototype fabrication. But I did whip up a basic sketch to help share the idea.

Fairly basic design really, a dragster frame with a Road King frame for the drive section.

There is a hot rod book I am sending with your paperwork that has some basic dragster frame designs laid out, in case the Paughco team goes from scratch.

The Quail Motorcycle Gathering Celebrating Pre-1916 Motorcycles as a 2016 Featured Class–
The motorcycle entry list is filling out for The Quail Motorcycle Gathering, held at Quail Lodge & Golf Course on Saturday, May 14, 2016. Now in its 8th year, the popular motorcycle event is getting a boost from private collectors from across the country to help celebrate one of this year’s featured classes: Pre-1916 Motorcycles.

1915 Militaire 2
Some examples of the Pre-1916 Motorcycles that can be seen at The Quail Motorcycle Gathering are a 1911 Thor, a 1912 Henderson 4, a 1915 Militaire 2 (above) and a 1916 Harley-Davidson Model 17. In addition to the Pre-1916 entries, the event will feature motorcycles and bicycles from at least nine different private collections.

1911 Thor
This year’s event will feature more than 300 motorcycles on the Quail Lodge Golf Course, with many of those coming from private collections. One of the special features for this year’s event will be the Pre-1916 class. This category is significant in motorcycling as it describes a period of time when the world had hundreds of motorcycle manufacturers, with the birth of the sport starting as early as 1885.

This event is not just for collectors or motorcycle enthusiasts, it’s just as much for those that appreciate American history. The Quail Motorcycle Gathering creates a venue where people can see these never-before-seen motorcycles, and come to appreciate this important era in motorcycling history.

1912 Henderson
With live entertainment, lifestyle vendors, a signature beverage pavilion, and a dedicated kids area, The Quail Motorcycle Gathering is a true celebration of motorcycling. Entry includes a southwestern gourmet barbecue lunch, parking, and gear valet service for those riding a motorcycle to the event.

Tickets are on sale now at www.quaillodgetickets.com.

AUSTRALIAN CLUB NEWS–
Exiled leader rents out iconic Aussie clubhouse
Monday, 28 March 2016

Rebels motorcycle club leader Alex Vella is said to be making up to $130,000 a year for leasing out his now-defunct national clubhouse.

Vella is leasing out the national clubhouse for more than $100,000 a year after police put an end to the biker haunt of almost 30 years.

It follows years of members pouring in their fees and contributions, supposedly to pay off the land.

The closure of the iconic Leppington clubhouse and the income generated from its lease comes as members dismayed at the club’s hierarchy continue to “patch out”, or leave, the club.

The sprawling clubhouse, which has served as a Rebels institution since the 1990s, has seen little activity since NSW Police sought to declare it a restricted premises in 2014.

Since then police and the owner, Mr Vella, had been in negotiations in the Supreme Court to use the Bringelly Road property for something other than a clubhouse.

An agreement was reached that Mr Vella would dispose of the 2.7 hectare property and it wouldn’t be declared a restricted premises.

However, following a struggle to sell it, it is understood a building storage company took up an offer to lease the property at an advertised price of $130,000 per year.

The new tenants and the use of the property satisfied NSW Police and the Supreme Court matter was dismissed.

The Rebels insignia emblazoned across the front gates, the members bar, and the red and blue club flags are now images of the past.

For years the clubhouse was host to Tuesday church nights and Thursday BBQ nights, and was where Mr Vella briefly lost his grip on the leadership after a member revolt in the early 1990s.

A former member told Fairfax Media Mr Vella bought the land on behalf of the club. Members were expected to pay off the bill through fees and bike shows.

“Bike shows would come out with at least $40,000 profit but the bill for the land never seemed to reduce,” the source said. Weekly members’ dues and the cost of buying colours would also go to paying off the debt.

Property records show the property was bought in 1985 for $198,000.

Mr Vella, who is registered as the property owner, is leasing the land through Colliers International Real Estate while he remains in exile in Malta after having his visa cancelled in 2014.

“I can’t comment on that, thank you,” agent Fab Dalfonso said when contacted about the lease.

Police say Mr Vella’s presidential absence has sent ripples of instability through the club, particularly its chapters in Sydney’s south-west.

The area, traditionally a Rebels stronghold, has members patching out at rates police have never seen before.

While police certainly don’t believe the club is expanding, they don’t have concrete figures on the current Rebels membership.

Infighting prompted patch-outs from chapters around Campbelltown, with at least one chapter breaking away from the club and others merging.

This sparked the shooting of well-known Rebels member Darren Wallace in Picton in December.

Police say Mr Wallace had met with Tevita Daunibau to discuss the conditions under which Daunibau could leave the Rebels club, including handing over his bike.

Police claim that members who have been in the Rebels for less than five years can usually leave the club after paying a $10,000 fine and handing over their bike.

However, this didn’t appear to sit well with Daunibau, who was part of a chapter that had split from the club.

He pulled out a gun on Picton’s main street and shot Mr Wallace before turning the weapon on himself.

Police say some ex-members of the Campbelltown chapter have chosen to leave the biker fraternity altogether rather than patch over to other clubs.

“The Rebels wanted to make an example of them because they didn’t have the backing of another club,” one police officer said.

Among the other factors contributing to the Rebels leadership shake-up included the death of sergeant-at-arms Simon Rasic in 2014, the patch-out of enforcer Ricky Ciano and the pending deportation of an alleged chapter president Shane Martin.

Other outgoing patched members have allegedly reported feeling dismayed at being ordered to contribute to Mr Vella’s fund to fight his visa cancellation despite the club leaders considerable wealth.

“Members had to contribute $200 to Alex’s fighting fund and won’t very happy about giving him money while he was overseas,” a police source said.

IT’S A WRAP—
Hang on. I just got a call about a world premier of a new biker movie in Hollywood. You just never know what’s happening around here.

We just received a sketch regarding our mural from a Carlos and Evan, the son of our cub reporter, Jeremiah.

Speaking of art. If I can scramble over some of the initial hurtles thrown at us this year, I will devote some time to another motorcycle art project.

Steve Massicotte promised an update on the Bikernet Bagger Project Bike, a tribute to Richard Kranzler. This is going to be a wild one, and it’s going to paint soon with Kurt Taylor, one of the best and a helluva builder.

Let’s get the hell out of here. Whiskey please.
