Hey,

Custom Chrome has grappled with ups and downs over the last five years, and now, like the rest of us, they face a lousy economy. But, like any diehard motorcycle maniac, they are hanging in there, dialing in their game and never giving up. When I received their new engine press release, I was intrigued. For years they refined their RevTech Engine program, but there was concern on the streets about Korean manufactured engines.

Guys didn't want to buy engines if there was a reliability factor, or repair uncertainty, if they were on the road. They also wanted a level of confidence in finding replacement components. Over the last year the Custom Chrome gang stepped up and addressed many of these issues, so we wanted to bring our readers up to date. Here goes:

The RevTech 115″ was engineered to make more power, early and long. With a bore and stroke combination of 4.125 by 4.300 inches, we designed a wide power band for all occasions. Whether hot-roding through the gears or grabbing a handful to pass, while loaded down, riding two-up or just cruising hard these RevTech engines are built strong and resiliently!

We began by designing new crankcases. We installed flywheels with pressed-in and keyed shafts and connecting rods forged from the most advanced steel available. We machined the fin edges on the barrels and heads for a great cosmetic look and plenty of cooling surface. These and other great features add up to what we believe is the best engine available for your ride. What makes it all the more sweet is that the price is right and each engine comes in three finishes to match your taste and your budget.

RevTech engines come with TWO YEAR OR 20,000 MILE LIMITED WARRANTY!These new engine assemblies will replace 1984 thru 1999 Evolution style engines. Plus, each RevTech engine is assembled with Pride in the U.S.A.

Crankcases
•Cast from 356-T6 aluminum with wall thickness optimized for maximum strength
•Blind case bolts for cleaner appearance
•Smooth crankcase deck to cylinder base profile for cleaner appearance
•7/16” threaded cylinder studs proven in drag racing applications

•Flywheels forged from 4140
•Pinion and sprocket shaft are pressed in and keyed from 8620 gear material ground and hardened.
•Connecting rods forged from 4340 chromemoly steel – the strongest material available for these applications
•Larger straight 11/2”-diameter pressed-in crankpin using 8620 gear material

Oiling System
•Same reliable Evolution style oil system with the addition of internal piston oilers for better heat dissipation
•3:1 ratio oil pump drive gears and high volume oil pump enable significantly increased lubrication and cooling

These are modern drivetrain kits with a retro look. K and G Cycles and Custom Chrome have taken the guesswork out of the parts needed for a complete drivetrain kit for Softail® models, and made it more reliable and user friendly at the same time. These new drivetrain kits now include the latest RevTech engines and 6-speed overdrive transmissions, and an updated RevTech chain drive primary kit. This primary kit contains a 66 -tooth ring gear with a 9-tooth starter pinion gear to increased starter motor torque, while maintaining a higher primary ratio using a 25-tooth compensator sprocket and a 36-tooth clutch shell sprocket for easier starting. We have also included RevTech Kevlar clutches, polished or black powder-coated high-torque starters, jackshaft, heavy duty alternator rotor, stator, all mounting hardware, seals, bushings and gaskets (rectifier/regulator not included). EPA and CARB legal for use in all 50 states.
