Lone girl

Hey Man,

Just thought I would let you know, my web store is now open ! I have attached Lone Star article # 2 with photos, the K & P oil filter, a bad ass oil filter that I will be selling. The filter will be in the store by this Sunday.

I will be starting an article on BDL's new SS 2 belt drive this next week and will send it when finished. Please let me know if I am heading in the right direction with the way I write about stuff.

Most of the time, it is really hard for me to get excited about a new product. There are just so many, mostly copies of an already existing parts. So when I came across this new oil filter I was really blown away. First of all this thing is 100% US made, in Colorado by a couple of guys who are no strangers to motorcycling. In fact they have been making them for off-road bikes for over ten years. Yeah, I know it looks like just another billet goo gah, but after checking it out you’ll find just how well thought out it really is.

The Stainless Steel Micronic Oil Filter, comes from K & P Engineering. This is One Bad Ass Oil filter! This should be the last oil filter that you will ever buy, unless you have more than one bike! Just check it out, looks, function, and value all in one trick looking package. Start with the finned billet aluminum housing available either chrome or machine finish that also functions as an oil cooler, lowering oil temp up to 7 degrees over a stock type disposable filter.

Now look inside where things really matter. First of all the stainless filter element is permanent. To service it you simply remove it from the twist lock housing, inspect and clean it and reinstall. That inspection step will be new to you, no more wondering what’s going on. You will now be able to see just how much metal your engine is giving up. To clean the element you just wash it from the inside out. This can be done with spray type carb/contact cleaner or just hot soapy water. Make sure it is completely dry before re-installing it in the housing.

Here’s the oil cooling finned body with the filter element installed inside.

The filter element is made of medical grade 304 stainless steel microniccloth. Lab tests show that this filter exceeds the filtering specs of factory and aftermarket paper filters, including the new Twin Cam filters. An important thing to remember is that when oil is cold it does not like to flow, especially thru paper. When you start a cool or cold bike up, it is very likely that oil will bypass the paper type filter.

Yeah, sounds crazy but all of the modern filters have a cheap ass bypass valve designed to keep the engine from oil starvation in case the filter becomes clogged.

In the disposable filters the bypass valve can open when the oil is thick and allow un-filtered oil to return to the tank. Oh, that valve can also open at high RPM’s , when flow exceeds the filter flow capability. The K & P filter also has a bypass valve but it is engineered to operate only when absolutely needed.

This filter flows seven times the rate of paper filters, a 1-inch square of this material flows an incredible 1.9 GALLONS of OIL at 1 PSI per minute! And if all of that wasn’t enough, they also added a pre- filter super strength neodymium magnet located on one of the twist lock ears that traps the larger metallic chunks before they even reach the stainless cloth.

For all you Twin Cam owners! No longer will you need to remove the crank position sensor to remove and replace the oil filter.

By the way, these filters even come with a cup style filter wrench. So when you stop and think about it, why keep throwing money away buying those cheap ass low performance filters? The K & P filter makes a lot of sense, all for about 150 bucks in chrome.
