Tailgunner Tech: Aftermarket Lowers For FLs

Hello my Biker Brothers Tail Gunner Here:

After Market Lowers for your FL
This  month we are going to talk about wind protection.  I really never noticed before, the amount of wind force on my legs until I started riding without my lowers. I got spoiled riding my Ultra Classic with the lowers attached. I decided to search around to see if I can find lowers for my Softail. That’s when I stumbled on Leather Pros Inc. Low and behold they make lowers for Softails, Road Kings, and just about any FL Harley makes, they also make saddle bags and other products which can be found at www.leatherpros.com.

So I ordered a set of the leather covered studded lowers that match the softail perfect.  Installation was straight forward and easy, similar to the OEM lowers installation. At right around $500 a pair, they are well below the OEM color matched set which will run you $650- $850.  I took a few shots of the installation process, which is basically three big hand knobs that hold to the crash bar.

A couple of thumb screws and some locking tabs and your pretty much done.

The Leather Pros lowers come available to paint or leather covered with different styles to match your Road King or Softail.

For myself or the average mechanic installation was easy, I had both lowers on in about 20 minutes.  They come available with a optional locking glove box.

After installation I took a test ride, and they work perfect.  The wind resistant on my legs is 0.  I feel like I am sitting on my Ultra Classic.

On a scale of 1-10 I give this product an 8 overall fit and function.  I really liked this product, they look good, work well and were easy to install. For now this product is available from dealers listed on their website or you can buy direct as I did. For information about purchasing see wwwleatherpros.com. Hope you enjoy the article.
Tail Gunner out until next month.
