TATTOO ARTIST GETS SLICED

I had a 2004 dyna lowrider all clubbed out with a Harley fairing, about 10 years before Sons of Anarchy came out, making the club style main stream. I was always building that thing up almost like a “mini bagger,” and then I thought I would graduate to a FXRT. Then I saw a Road glide with 14-inch Tbars and that seemed like the way to go. I am a big guy standing 6ft tall, 250lbs and that bagger looked comfortable.

I ride every day and wanted the extra room to carry my old lady and tattoo gear. Best Buy I ever made was the 2011 Road glide. I love it, but it came with the stock Road King, Indian looking front fender, and it just never looked right to me. So I hit up Steve from Klock Werks. I asked him, which fender would look best, and he recommended the slicer.

He was right; it’s perfect for my Road Glide. It gives it that club look sporty and tuff, very cool. I love the guys at Klock Werks. They have done a really good job with their fenders and bagger gear.

We reached out to Gene Slater at Klock Werks for some info on their stout fenders: A little bit about our Slicer front fender from the Hugger Series. Klock Werks produces over 180 different fender part number styles of 14-gauge, stamped steel fenders. The slicer is but one of these.

The Hugger series front fender is designed to hug your tire closely and accent your front wheel. With eight side cut styles in the Hugger series to choose from, these direct bolt-on replacement fenders will dramatically change the look of your bike.

All of Klock Werks fenders are precision stamped from 14-gauge steel. The use of precision, deep-draw stamping technology ensures a consistently smooth and flawless finish with minimal body work. Klock Werks utilizes CNC driven, 5-axis laser technology to guarantee accurate fitment for direct bolt on installations.

The stamped steel fenders come with an e-coat corrosion resistant finish that minimizes the need for bodywork and continues to resist rust and corrosion even after it’s painted. Our ‘fit kits’ series are shipped with necessary mounting hardware and mounting blocks. With all of our other fenders, the hardware and mounting blocks are sold separately.

When you receive your new fender and unpack it, you may find small abrasions in the e-coat finish. This is normal and acceptable. The e-coat is not a final finish coat. All fenders will need to be primed, painted and clear coated.

All fenders should be installed and checked (mock up) before sending to paint. Be sure to check for clearance of the fender to insure there is no contact with the forks, tires, oil coolers, fairings, engine guards and anything else that might contact your newly painted fender when you get the bike off the lift.

Painters love our fenders because all they have to do is scuff the fender with red scotch-brite or similar and apply the primer coat. Very little if any metal work is needed. For the ultimate in quality paint, a guide coat and light sanding before the sealer is applied followed by base coats, graphics and finally a finish clear coat is applied.

So, all you have to do is pick a style for your bike from the fitment guide or give us a call to help with your selection. You can find fitment help at www.getklocked.com or call 605-996-3700 and one of our fitment specialists will be happy to help you. Mock it up when you get it and paint it. You now have the industry standard of 14-gauge stamped steel fenders complementing your bike.

Although the fender came out of the box almost sharp enough to bolt on and ride, I took it out for proper paint. I had it painted by Jeff Balderama of Balderama racing in Long Beach.

I fucked up. The sharp, stylish fender came with spacers, but I forgot to have them painted. Don’t forget, if you want that solid, cohesive look.
