There’s a Code of the West, coupled to the American Way. At one time we cherished the resources we had. The code called for innovation and hard work. I got my ass up early this morning and Jeremiah picked me up for a run at the Long Beach Swap meet, where we discovered the code was alive. Brothers were giving brothers a break on parts, offering solid deals and standing behind those bargains.

There were several example, but here’s just one. Slim from Slim’s fabrication was on hand with his handmade bars for $40 apiece, no matter what the size. For 40 bucks you can get them with a petina finish and clear powder coat or bare. Each set of bars is hand made and guaranteed. If you dig them he will fix ’em. If you had an old set of bars he’ll trade you. Incredible deal.

We need to think long term, and that?s we do at Bikernet. Our ads are cheap in this economy and we work for our sponsors on a weekly basis. It’s all about keeping companies alive for the long haul, and keeping brothers on the road. Let’s hit the Post:

BIKERNET UNIVERSITY HISTORY DEPARTMENT FINDINGS SPONSORED BY DANNI ASHE– A famous Viking explorer returned home from a voyage and found his name missing from the town register. His wife insisted on complaining to the local civic official who apologized profusely saying, “I must have taken Leif off my census.” There were three Indian squaws. One slept on a deer skin, one slept on an elk skin, and the third slept on a hippopotamus skin. All three became pregnant. The first two each had a baby boy. The one who slept on the hippopotamus skin had twin boys. This just goes to prove that … the squaw of the hippopotamus is equal to the sons of the squaws of the other two hides. A skeptical anthropologist was cataloging South American folk remedies with the assistance of a tribal Brujo who indicated that the leaves of a particular fern were a sure cure for any case of constipation. When the anthropologist expressed his doubts, the Brujo looked him in the eye and said,”Let me tell you, with fronds like these, you don’t need enemas.”

THE BIKERNET MAN TEST SPONSORED BY THE BAD RIDE– 1. If you are over forty, and you have a washboard stomach, you are a queer…period! It means you haven’t sucked back enough beer with the boys and have spent the rest of your free time doing sit-ups, aerobics, and doing the Oprah diet…Fag!
2. If you have a cat, you are a homo?period! A cat is like a dog, but queer…it grooms itself constantly but never scratches itself, has a delicate touch except when it uses its claws, and whines to be fed. And just think about how you call a dog…Killer, come here! I said get your ass over here Killer!’ Now think about how you call a cat?Bun-bun, come to daddy, snookums!’ Yep, you’re queer!
3. If you suck on lollipops, Ring-Pops, baby pacifiers, or any such nonsense, rest assured, you are a Gaylord?period! A straight man only sucks on BBQ ribs, crab claws, raw oysters, lobster backs, pickled pig?s feet, or tits of course? Anything else and you are a Homo in training and undeniably a fag!
4. If you refuse to take a dump in a public bathroom or piss in a parking lot, you crave a deep homosexual relationship. A man’s world is his toilet; he defecates and urinates where he pleases.
5. If you drink anything other than regular coffee, you’re as fairy as Tinkerbelle?period! A straight man will never be heard ordering a ‘Decaf Soy Latte’. If you’ve put a Decaf Soy Latte to your lips, you’ve had a man there too.
6. If you know more than six names of non-standard colors or four different types of dessert other than ice cream and custard, you might as well be handing out free ass passes. A real man doesn’t have memory space in his brain to remember all of that crap. If you can pick out chartreuse you’re gay..period! And if you can name ANY type of textile other than cotton or denim, you are a peter puffer.
7. If you drive with both hands on the wheel, forget it, you’re dying to tune a meat whistle. A man only puts both hands on the wheel to honk at a slow-assed driver or to cut the prick off. The rest of the time he needs thathand to change the radio station, eat a hamburger, or hold his beer. 8. If you do not send this off to all of the males on your email list because you are afraid of hurting their feelings then you are definitely on the verge of being a salami smuggler? So?.Send it!!

OUTLAW SHOT DOWN OUTSIDE HIS TATTOO PARLOR– NORTH HAVEN ? Bikers from as far away as Florida, Maine and Chicago ? and a Connecticut motorcycle honor guard ? joined homicide victim Joseph ?Ho-Jo? Ferraiolo?s grieving family Saturday to give him a sendoff worthy of his colorful life.
Dozens of beefy guys on Harley-Davidsons, wearing the colors of The Outlaws, The Brotherhood and other motorcycle clubs thundered up Livingston Drive to St. Therese?s Church on Middletown Avenue at the head of the funeral procession.
They were greeted by 32 more clean-cut members of the Patriot Guard Riders ? all standing at attention on both sides of the entrance to the church, each holding an American flag.
The former came to honor Ferriaolo as a fellow biker. The latter came to honor him for his service as a U.S. Marine.
?We?re here to stand in honor of a Marine, a decorated soldier who served our country honorably … and to thank him for his service to our country,? said Patriot Guard Riders State Captain Bob Stone. Ferraiolo was a private in the Marine Corps from 1962 to 1965.
He was buried at East Lawn Cemetery in East Haven with military honors.
?We?re buryin? a brother,? said a bearded, graying Outlaw whose jacket identified him as a member of a Virginia chapter. ?We don?t do interviews.? Ferraiolo, 64, was shot the night of Feb. 9 outside the rear door of his ?A Touch of Color? tattoo parlor at 1212 Dixwell Ave. in Hamden. He died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Police are still investigating why someone would ambush Ferraiolo, Hamden Police Chief Thomas J. Wydra said last week.
In the church, Ferraiolo?s sister, Rosemarie Schroeder, spoke of the various roles her brother, who was an altar boy as a child, played. She said that ?as proud as he was to be a Marine, he was just as proud to be an Outlaw.?
Schroeder addressed how Ferraiolo could at the same time be a Marine, a biker, a ?protector? within his family ? who ?had a knack for showing up when you needed him? ? and could also be someone who loved to dance and had ?a special relationship? with their mother: ?He made her laugh. He made her angry. He made her proud,? she said.
?Our brother was a good, kind man,? she said. ?If Joey had money, EVERYONE would eat!?
He ?was a good, kind and generous man and he did not deserve to die like that,? she said.
St. Therese pastor the Rev. Timothy Meehan preceded Schroeder, saying ?an old Irish prayer? that he said was appropriate for Ferraiolo, even though Ferriaolo was ?not nearly as Irish as I am.? It read:
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
May the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.?
Six members of the Connecticut and Massachusetts chapters of The Outlaws, which Ferraiolo was a member of, served as pallbearers. A number of local Outlaws members had crisp new patches sewn to their leather jackets that read: ?In Memory of HoJo ? 2/9/10.?
A contingent of bikers went in to pay their respects during the funeral Mass ? with a number of them taking Communion. Many others stayed outside and waiting for the Mass to end before heading on to the cemetery.
Outlaws members came from chapters, identified by patches on the backs of their jackets, as far away as Illinois, Milwaukee, Detroit, Indiana, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine.
Joining them were members of other motorcycle clubs. including the Hawgs, Deacons, Black Pistons, Faces of Death and the Righteous Unruly.
While many bikers wouldn?t talk, one Black Pistons member from Pennsylvania said it wasn?t that unusual for people to come from far away for a funeral ? and he would have been there just the same if Ferraiolo, who he had met but didn?t know well, had died of natural causes.
He came ?because I?m a brother,? he said as the procession roared off to the cemetery after Ferraiolo?s funeral Mass. ?It?s a brotherhood ? true brotherhood. That?s stuff we believe in. … It?s all out of respect and love.?

WORD ON BANDIT’S BEDROLL– I like your bag carrier! I?ve been strapping a bag on the front of my bike for 40 years after seeing the movie and TV series ?Then Came Bronson,? which was on in 1969 and 1970. My bike was on display at Sturgis in 2009 along with the other one from the TV show ?Renegade?.

Lorenzo Lamas strapped the Mexican blanked on his bike because he remembered watching Then Came Bronson as a kid and thought it was ?cool? having something strapped on the front. I?ve learned it also blocks a lot of wind!

I?m forwarding your site to other friends with Bronson Replicas because they might want to try your carrier on their ?modern? bikes.

BIKERNET COMEDY CLUB SPONSORED BY J&P CYCLES– I was walking down the road and saw my Afghani neighbor Abdul standing on his fifth floor apartment balcony shaking a carpet. I shouted up to him, “What’s wrong, Abdul? Won’t start?”
My girlfriend and I were making love when she looked up at me and said, “Make love to me like in the movies.” So I turned her over on all fours, stuck it in her ass, pulled out, flipped her back over and came all over her face and hair. I never saw her again after that night. I guess we don’t watch the same movies.

BIKERNET OFFICIAL WEATHER REPORT– How do you tell when it is just too darned cold to go outside? This message came from Stoney River Lodge, Alaska. The picture was taken on Jan 5th 2010. Minus 51 F

ANOTHER GODDAMN TECH QUESTION–I’m looking for a trike frame mod and rear end for a big twin. I heard Paughco isn’t making trike stuff anymore.

CLASSIC CHOP KNUCKLEHEAD DEAL OF THE YEAR– I ran into this bike at Gard Hollinger’s LA Choprods recently. I wanted to buy it, because it was a classic, with all old components, but new. The bike was built with all re-popped parts and had no miles on the new Knucklehead engine. They are asking just ten grand. Hell, the engine would cost $8,500. My birthday is coming up, in case someone is looking for a present for the old Bandit.

This trio of 1915 Harleys belongs to a member of the Hamsters, Urban Hirsh, III. You’ll see how Urban is replacing tires and wheel bearings in preparation for the rally. The article was written By Doc Robinson, of Heavy Duty Magazine, in Australia for Cycle Source. Then you’ll see it published on Bikernet.
We will also bring you reports from other builders, including Matt and Dale Walksler.

LOWER ALABAMA WEATHER REPORT–We had to buy a trickle charger for the bike. Between long hours at work, the rain, cold and snow, yes I said, “snow,” I haven’t ridden a lot lately. February 12th we had over an inch of snow. Very unusual for Lower Alabama. This has been the harshest and longest winter we have had in over 25 years.

What is that they keep talking about on TV, global warming? Could not prove it by me this year.
Ride safe.

?American, Always? The latest painting from Eric Herrmann– If you?re in my age group you probably saw the movie ?Easy Rider? when it first appeared. Very turbulent times indeed. The war in Vietnam, long hair not allowed, drugs, and choppers. Well times have changed, or have they?
?American, Always? depicts a modern day version of one of the most famous motorcycles ever made. Of the two original ?Captain America? motorcycles made for the movie, one was destroyed, one was stolen. Billy and Wyatt died from a Duck Hunters Shotgun. Placed in a graveyard setting, just as in the movie, the bike still shines, the flag stands tall, and we are all still riding. Times sure have changed, or have they.
Very turbulent times these days. It?s not like we haven?t seen this before. I?ve been riding since before the movie ?Easy Rider? appeared and I still am. I still get Goosebumps when I hear the national anthem at a NASCAR Race. I am an ?American, Always?.
