Hey,
Never a dull moment around the Bikernet Interplanetary Headquarters, located on the edge of the vast port of Los Angeles. I’m going to jump right into the news, ’cause I’m in a haze. Maybe it was the Buffalo Grass Polish Vodka I drank last night, or the 5-Ball beer. No shit. It was good, 5-Ball Racing Lager.
We’ve got a lot of ground to cover, and the shop is calling me. I made terrific progress Friday. It was one of those days: The dogs weren’t barking, the tool worked, I could find shit, and my brain and eyes we in sync. Amazing. Let’s hit it:

AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENTS BAN BIKIE ?GANGS?– Two of Australia?s biggest motorcycle ?gangs? could soon be banned and their members arrested for associating with one another under new anti-bikie laws passed in response to escalating violence between rival clubs.
The New South Wales government has drawn up emergency legislation that it claims will dismantle the biker gangs and bring the violence to an end. Under the proposals, the police would be able to apply to the courts to have a motorcycle group declared a “criminal organization” and outlawed on the basis of intelligence about its alleged activities.
“The new legislation was about declaring a particular organization a criminal group, and I would say that this is a path that we will now be able to go down,” NSW Assistant Police Commissioner Catherine Burn told reporters.
The Rebels and the Comanchero, clubs that were involved in a widely reported fatal brawl at Sydney airport, are likely to be the first gangs so proscribed. Police could then arrest any member wearing gang colors or associating with other known gang members.
In the meantime, gang legislation enacted in South Australia last June to dismantle the clubs has had the reverse effect – serving to unite rival clubs. Gypsy Jokers, Hells Angels, Rebels, Finks and Descendents bike club members have, for the first time, joined together in protest against the Serious and Organised Crime Control Act, described by the government as being the toughest anti-gang law of its kind in the world.
The alliance, known as the FREE Australia Party, is only a few application process steps away from forming a legitimate political party. The party’s leader, Paul Kuhn – a committee member of the Motorcycle Riders Association of SA and a Justice of the Peace – said the group was formed because of deep concern anyone associated with a member of a club would be found guilty under the law. “The Government is now controlling and dictating relationships,” he said.

SUNDAY SHOP TECH QUESTION– I finally have a leak in on of my front forks and need to change the oil seals. I googled it and found your page: http://www.bikernet.com/sportsters/PageViewer.asp?PageID=690
Almost every site I have looked at shows the forks being removed from the bike. On your page it appears that you kept the forks clamped in the triple trees. What’s the difference? Did you reuse the seals and thus did not need to pull the fork out of the trees?

BIKERNET MEDICAL CENTER RUN IN THE SUN ADVICE– Sun poisoning is a layman’s term for the symptoms that can accompany severe sunburn, such as nausea, vomiting, fever, chills and headache. It should not be confused with sunstroke (also referred to as heatstroke), a medical emergency that occurs when the body overheats to the point that it can no longer regulate its internal temperature.
You can help prevent sun poisoning by remaining indoors during peak daylight hours (10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the summer months), wearing protective clothing and using sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 15. If you do get sun poisoning, stay out of the sun and try the following to help alleviate the symptoms:
Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
Take a cool bath and pat dry – don?t rub your skin, which can cause further irritation.
Apply a cold washcloth or ice to areas that are swollen or itching.
Take an aspirin or other NSAID to help reduce swelling and inflammation.
Apply aloe to any affected areas, but avoid oils or anything that contains potential irritants such as fragrances and exfoliants.
Be aware that you should seek immediate medical attention if your temperature exceeds 104 degrees Fahrenheit, or if you experience extreme vomiting or pain.

So the husband and the blind man decide to walk. After a while, the husband gets irritated by the ticking of the stick of the blind man as he taps it on the sidewalk, and says to him, ‘Why don’t you put a piece of rubber at the end of your stick? That ticking sound is driving me crazy.’
The blind man replies, ‘If you had put a rubber at the end of YOUR stick, we’d be riding the bus, so shut the hell up.’

DINING TALES FROM BANDIT’S CANTINA– —– man is dining in a fancy restaurant and there is a gorgeous Brunette sitting at the next table. He has been checking her out since he sat down, but lacks the nerve to talk with her.
Suddenly she sneezes, and her glass eye comes flying out of its socket toward the man. He reflexively reaches out, grabs it out of the air, and hands it back.
‘Oh my, I am so sorry,’ the woman says as she pops her eye back in place.
‘Let me buy your dinner to make it up to you,’ she says.
They enjoy a wonderful dinner together, and afterwards they go to the theatre followed by drinks. They talk, they laugh, she shares her deepest dreams and he shares his. She listens.
After paying for everything, she asks him if he would like to come to her place for a nightcap and stay for breakfast.
The next morning, she cooks a gourmet meal with all the trimmings. The guy is amazed. Everything had been SO incredible! ‘You know,’ he said, ‘you are the perfect woman. Are you this nice to every guy you meet?’
‘No,’ she replies. .
Wait for it.
She says:
‘You just happened to catch my eye.’

CALIFORNIA MOTORCYCLE SMOG TESTING BATTLE HEATS UP– I’m thinking of hitting the Cal politicians who are involved in this new smog initiative with some stats as part of the letter. Is there any way we can get statistics from some of your contacts? Something like the following:
1. Number of motorcycles registered in CA, v. cars v. trucks?
2. Average number of miles the average rider rides/year
3. Breakdown of displacement/manufacturer of bikes registered in CA
4. Breakdown of the ages of bikes registered in CA
Where I’m going with this is to show through real numbers (actual DMV records) how small the actual carbon footprint of motorcycles is. Then we start talking about the costs of implementing the new smog stations that are capable of smogging bikes. Then we talk about the liabilities involved.
The way I want to spin this is to bring it all down to a common denominator. Money. And if I can figure out how to get demographics for the incomes and political parties of the riding population, we can also go to the votes discussion.
Got anyone I can talk to? I want to pursue this. It’s about time we stopped just rolling over every time we get rolled over, if you catch my drift.

ROEDER HARLEY-DAVIDSON CLOSES ITS DOORS– It may be the end of the road for Roeder Harley-Davidson. On Tuesday, National City bank filed a foreclosure lawsuit against the dealership and a related business, saying the Roeders had defaulted on about $2.5 million of debt.
On Wednesday, the Harley-Davidson Credit Corp. followed with a lawsuit against the dealership and owners Will and Julie Roeder, alleging the dealership owes them more than $2 million.
Nervous tourism officials hope the foreclosure won?t put the brakes on Ohio Bike Week, an annual event organized by the Roeders that?s scheduled to take place in less than two months. The event has become a staple of Sandusky?s tourist season.
Steve Ernst, a businessman who organizes Ohio Bike Week, said Wednesday he is ?100 percent confident? the event will go on as planned. Ernst is president of Advantage Entertainment and Consulting, the company hired to put the event together for the Roeders.
The National City lawsuit names WJR Rentals, which owns the property at 5316 Milan Road and leases it to the dealership, and the dealership itself.
It also lists as defendants a number of businesses and individuals who have business dealings with the Roeders. They are Midwest Building and Development Co., The Croghan Colonial Bank, Sazton, the Pain and Pleasure Tattoo Studio, Jeffrey Tolley, Bonnie Parrella, Erie County treasurer Jo Dee Fantozz, Third National Bank, Giovanna Ruta, Margaret Kelsey and Maria Linderman.
Will Roeder and Julie Roeder could not be reached for comment Wednesday. Through an intermediary, Will Roeder said, ?We have no comment at this time.?
The lawsuit, assigned to Judge Tygh Tone, states that after WJR Rentals defaulted on its loans from National City, the bank obtained a judgment for about $2.5 million. The suit says WJR has not made any payment on the judgment. It demands that the bank be allowed to take possession of the property and asks for a receiver to be appointed.
The suit also states WJR has not been paying its property taxes to Erie County. Records at the auditor?s office show that WJR Rentals did not pay its $25,622 real estate tax bill for the first half of 2009. The company has incurred a $2,562 penalty for missing its Feb. 13 deadline, so it now owes $28,184. The Roeder dealership did pay the $13,647 of personal property taxes it owed in October and owes the county nothing, treasurer Jo Dee Fantozz said. Fantozz said she isn?t worried about collecting the $28,184 real estate tax debt. .
?Ohio Bike Week is a separate standing entity,? Ernst said. ?It is not funded by Roeder Harley-Davidson.? Last year?s bike week drew about 130,000 people to events over five counties, Ernst said. ?This year, we are hoping to exceed it, swine flu and the economy willing,? he said. ?The future years, we?re taking it day by day.? Joan Van Offeren, executive director of Lake Erie Shores and Islands, said the tourism bureau has invested $20,000 to promote this year?s event.
She said Ernst assured her as recently as Tuesday that the show would still go on. The legal developments ?certainly are going to present a challenge,? Van Offeren said. The original Roeder Harley-Davidson dealership in Monroeville, founded by the late George Roeder in 1972, shut down in March. The Roeders said slow sales had forced the move. The Perkins Township dealership20opened in 2002. Tone said the Roeders will have 28 days to answer once they are served with the National City Bank lawsuit.

The Theory of Intelligence ?– I don’t think I’ve ever heard the concept explained any better than this .
‘Well you see, Norm, it’s like this . . . A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.
In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells.
Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first.
In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.
