Hey, Don’t forget to turn your clocks up. I love daylight savings time, the longer days, more sun, I can get more shit done. I never understand why they turn ’em back in the winter.
I’m looking out the back of the shop at the sun shining on the pavement and our two black mutts lying on the warm concrete, and the streets call to me to ride to Walker’s Caf? for Sunday bike hang-out. Daytona is winding rapidly down and we have reports and photos from the east coast. It rained cats and dogs for a couple of days and bike week felt an abrupt wet ending, but the turnout wasn’t half bad.
We need to keep in mind what Daytona Bike Week stands for, it’s a winter escape. From Chicago to Maine and south, it’s the first shot at sunlight and open helmetless riding for an imprisoned third of the county. Bike week will always rock. Let’s hit the news:

MISS STURGIS–THIRD’S TIMES A CHARM– Internet contest for Miss Sturgis now has over 90 entries.
The Miss Sturgis 2008 and Girls of Sturgis Bike Week contest, online for a month, has drawn a majority of entries from the Black Hills of South Dakota. This isn’t surprising, as the contest was promoted by several of the largest radio stations in the area. What was amazing is the number of entries from across the country, drawn in by the power of the Internet.
In mid-February, the first three finalists for the Miss Sturgis 2008 contest, Lizzy, Motor Mandy and T-Lyn, were chosen from over 40 entries. Round Two produced three more finalists, who blew away the competition of over 60 entries:
Sasha is a singer/songwriter, motorcycle author and journalist from Nashville who has been riding to Sturgis for over 10 years.
Dewitta is a creative and outgoing promoter for South Dakota tourism who hails from Presho. Sexy Italian is a full time student and pharmacy tech in Rapid City who garnered the backing of the local Marines and the guys at Dakota Angler.
The Miss Sturgis 2008 contest moved into Round Three on March 1. Those contestants not chosen in Rounds One and Two had the voting slate wiped clean, and a dozen new contestants were added. Entries will continue to be accepted until March 14. Final voting ends on March 29 and the new Miss Sturgis 2008 will be announced in April.
Visitors to Miss Sturgis.com can read all about the Girls, and vote for their favorite contestant. Twelve of the Girls will be photographed for the Girls of Sturgis Bike Week calendar. Based on the Internet comments and a personal interview, a panel will select one of the 12 to become Miss Sturgis 2008. The Girls of Sturgis Bike Week will be making personal appearances during Sturgis Bike Week 2008 and will autograph the free calendars at Thunder Road.
Information on how to enter, or to vote for Miss Sturgis, is at www.misssturgis.com

REPORTER BREAKS INTO BIKER MEDICAL LAB–“Do Doctors’ laugh,” the reporter demanded? …the Doctor replied “Of course I won’t laugh, I’m a professional. In over twenty years I’ve never laughed at a patient.”
“Okay then,” Bob said, and proceeded to drop his trousers, revealing the tiniest ‘whoo-ha’ the doctor had ever seen. It couldn’t have been bigger than the size of a AAA battery.
Unable to control himself, the doctor started giggling, then fell laughing to the floor Ten minutes later he was able to struggle to his feet and gain his composure.
“I’m so sorry,” said the doctor. “I really am. I don’t know what came over me. On my honor as a doctor and a gentleman, I promise it won’t happen again. Now, what seems to be the problem?”
“It’s swollen,” Bob replied.
