SUMMER SUNDAY POST ATTACK–BIKERNET HEADQUARTERS TAGGED BY NOTORIOUS FELON

Fishing
Shoulda gone fishing.

There I was, minding my own business when my son, Frank, called. “I’m having problem with your outlaw grandson,” he said. “Take over.” Frankie, the 15-year-old, was delivered to the Bikernet Interplanetary Ivory Tower in a paddy wagon and dumped on the street with a duffel bag.

I ran to his bruised and beaten side. “Are you alright?” I said.

frank

“I’m a felon tagger,” he whispered, “but I can’t get enough. Do you have any rattle cans?”

Let’s hit the news. I’ll fill you in on the outcome at the end.

Rogue2

STURGIS 2008 REPORT Rated Rogue– I look forward to my ride from Florida to Sturgis every year and this year was no exception, even though I was riding by myself.

It is my habit to ride as many miles as comfortable the first day to give myself a little benefit should I have problems or want to stop on the way. I shoot for 800 miles or better and that is sometimes adjusted if I am riding with others. I am not looking to do Iron Butt but do not see any reason to sit in a motel room if I am not tired.

Rogue2a

The first day out I rode 965 miles, a good part of it in the rain. Good rain gear and a windshield made a lot of difference. The second day I rolled into Burlington Iowa. I did a photo shoot there in the morning and made it to Sturgis that evening.

rogue1b
She’s from One-Eyed Jack’s on Main.

There seemed to be less people at the event this year and that was fine with me. It made getting from one place to another easier. I did notice more people in areas outside the city which seems to be a trend at events around the country.

I did get to attend quite a few shows, see a lot of friends and generally had a good time. I left Sturgis Sunday and did a 997-mile day and was home by Tuesday for supper.

rogue1

I installed a Baker Plus 1 Oil Pan and switched to Spectro oil before the trip and that was a good decision, as I noticed a little higher oil pressure and a cooling running engine, especially on the hot days.

I hope all who attended had a good time and made it back home safely.

BIKERNET HARLEY-DAVIDSON DEALER INVESTIGATION– A BIG thanks goes out to the staff at Clinton Harley in Clinton,IA. I was on ride for my 50th B-day about 180 miles from home when my ’08 Road Glide wouldn’t start.

The good folks at “Howard’s Tap” in Albany,IL gave me the number for Clinton H-D. A call to Joe and within 40 mins I was at the dealer.

Justin Grobe the service manager got my bike in right away and fixed the problem, an electrical connection on the fuel pump had come loose. Total down time was 2 hours, its nice to find a dealer more interested in helping a broke down brother than selling t-shirts.

Without them my 50th would have turned out to be shit. Thanks again Clinton H-D and thanks to you for a kickass site.

Our 16th annual FALL FOLIAGE RUN FOR CHARITY will be held September 19 thru September 21 on Cape Cod, Massachusetts– This year will be the eleventh year for charity. The Floating Hospital Children?s Cancer Center in Boston, Hurricane Katrina victim Charlie Leggio, stoke victim & Cape Cod resident Mike Reddy, and the Multiple Sclerosis Society have been the recipients of the proceeds for the past ten years. Proceeds from the 2008 Fall Foliage Run for Charity will be Multiple Sclerosis.

BIKERNET BRITISH HUMOUR– The train was quite crowded, and a U. S. Marine walked the entire length looking for a seat, but the only seat left was taken by a well dressed, middle-aged, French woman’s poodle.

The war-weary Marine asked, ‘Ma’am, may I have that seat?’

The French woman just sniffed and said to no one in particular ‘Americans are so rude. My little Fifi is using that seat.’

The Marine walked the entire train again, but the only seat left was under that dog.

‘Please, ma’am. May I sit down? I’m very tired.’

She snorted, ‘Not only are you Americans rude, you are also arrogant!’

This time the Marine didn’t say a word; he just picked up the little dog, tossed it out the train window, and sat down.

The woman shrieked, ‘Someone must defend my honor! this American should be put in his place!’

An English gentleman sitting nearby spoke up, ‘Sir, you Americans seem to have a penchant for doing the wrong thing. You hold the fork in the wrong hand. You drive your cars on the wrong side of the road. And now, sir, you seem to have thrown the wrong bitch out the window.

THAT’S A WRAP–Imagine if it was illegal to build custom motorcycles. We’d still do it and attempt to ride them like a bat-outta-hell across town in the middle of the night to see that little girl with skin so soft it makes your fingers tingle just to mention her name, “Shiela.” Life is just a roll of the dice.

frank begin

Maybe I was more observant as a kid, so I dodged getting busted for all the bad shit I did. My motivation was my dad’s fist. He’d kick my ass into the middle of tomorrow if I got caught. Grandson Frank wasn’t so lucky at 14 when he attempted to emulate the artistic taggers he admires, only to get busted with a back-pack fulla spray cans. That’s a felony in California. Talk about a non-violent crime.

frank finish

So here he is, just a kid tagged by the Man, a criminal, and he just wants to be creative, so I thought, “What the hell, give him a wall.” He had a blast learned a few things and a buddy of mine is bringing over a large canvas for his next effort. We’re going to shitcan the spray cans, nasty shit, and find him an air brush kit. Looks like he may have some talent. His dad’s going to teach him the art of Tattoo, and together we’ll try to get him through the next year and off probation. Whatta bitch.

So hang on for this coming week on Bikernet. More Sturgis reports, Charlie Brechtel’s report from the Buffalo Chip, the Aussie Artist interview, we found a company building trike conversions, Champion Trikes in Garden Grove, California, Towle roadtest, more reports from Doc on Billy Lane’s ride to Sturgis, and more. Think I can keep up? We’ll see.

Ride Forever,

–Bandit
