Hey,
Another strange day in paradise. The Aussies, including the winner of our Brouhaha, Ms. Bikernet 2008 Contest rode into LA after almost a month on the road aboard Eagle Rider Bikes. Ray Wheeler, the God of W8Less Rotors rode south from San Jose, 6 hours north just to be here to great them.

So began the weekend with tours of LA and welding projects in the shop. Nicole is a Tattoo artist, for 20 years. “I got my first Tattoo with my first paycheck, when I was 15,” she said. She’s ridden for just as long and scored 100 percent at the Bikernet Brouhaha for knowledge of bikes, bike parts, builders, you name it.

She’s sharp. She currently owns a shop in the suburbs of Brisbane called Studio 64 on Logan road in Underwood. Watch for more on Nicole in the near future.
Let’s hit it:

HAMSTER 2008 FALL FOILAGE RUN FOR CHARITY– Our 16th annual FALL FOLIAGE RUN FOR CHARITY will be held September 19 thru September 21 on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. This year will be the eleventh year for charity. The Floating Hospital Children?s Cancer Center in Boston, Hurricane Katrina victim Charlie Leggio, stroke victim & Cape Cod resident Mike Reddy, and the Multiple Sclerosis Society have been the recipients of the proceeds for the past ten years. Proceeds from the 2008 Fall Foliage Run for Charity will be Multiple Sclerosis.
The success of this charity run has been due, in great part, to the generosity of the many companies and individuals like yourselves who have contributed so kindheartedly to this worthy cause. Over the past nine years we have donated over $210,000.00 to these deserving charities. This year, with your help, we hope to greatly add to that amount. Throughout the weekend we will be having silent and live auctions, a poker run, a poker chip stroll, as well as raffles and door prizes.
We are, at this time, asking for your help and support. Hopefully we can count on you to provide items for the auctions, raffles, door prizes, and the events of the weekend. Please e-mail us (jody@perewitz.com) and let us know if you will be able to donate and what that donation (i.e. merchandise, products, clothing, gift certificates, jewelry, collectibles) will be. We would be grateful for any and all donations.
Please consider being a sponsor with a donation for this most important event.
We ask that you send donations to Fall Foliage Run 2008, c/o Perewitz Cycle Fabrications, 910 Plymouth Street, Bridgewater, MA 02324 by September 10, 2008. We thank you for supporting our upcoming event?it is greatly appreciated. We look forward to hearing from you.

STURGIS RALLY NUMBERS DOWN, CITATIONS UP– Fewer people are on the streets for the Sturgis motorcycle rally, but the number of arrests and citations are up, according to law enforcement. That is because officers can move more freely in traffic, where they are encountering more drinking drivers.
“When the bars are less crowded, people drink more,” Sturgis Chief of Police Jim Bush said. “When it’s too packed, people stay in the campgrounds.”
The Highway Patrol had 1,011 citations issued through Wednesday, up 218 from last year at this time. State troopers also had given 2,273 warnings this year, 1,780 in the Sturgis area, up from 1,636 overall a year ago.
Parking citations in Sturgis have been down all week, simply because there are more places to park with fewer people attending the rally, Bush said.
The agency started counting Saturday, when traffic flows changed with an influx of rallygoers.
Total arrests are up by 13 so far this year, most of those for drinking and driving and drug-related charges.
Highway Patrol Lt. David Berkley said traffic accidents are down a little bit, which gives officers more time to hit the streets.
“Officers can make more contacts,” he said.
The good news for the week, law enforcement reported Thursday, is that injury accidents have been down every day compared to last year. The total to date is 42, and 46 were reported at this time last year.
“Everything’s going good for us,” Berkley said Thursday. By Kayla Gahagan, Journal staff Saturday, August 09, 2008

FAVORITE BIKERNET STURGIS RECIPE– I was sitting at the bar in the Knuckle Saloon in Sturgis next to a woman that was a stone fox, Yea I admit I was looking at her, Hell she had on a bikini and chaps. The woman sneezed, took out a tissue, gently wiped her nose, and then visibly shuddered for ten to fifteen seconds.
I thought that strange but continued to look around the bar for things to photograph. I was there working (LOL). A few minutes later, the woman sneezed again, took a tissue, wiped her nose, then shuddered violently once more. I figured she might have a cold, I was still curious about the shuddering though.
A few more minutes passed when the woman sneezed yet again. As before she took a tissue, wiped her nose, her body shaking ever more than before. I could swear she whispered, “Don’t stop.”
Unable to restrain my curiosity, I turned to the woman and said, ‘I couldn’t help but notice that you’ve sneezed three times, wiped your nose and then shuddered violently. Are you ok?’
She said, “I am sorry if I disturbed you, I have a very rare medical condition; whenever I sneeze I have an orgasm.”
Shit, I hear the word Orgasm and I start really paying attention. “I have never heard of that condition before,” I said. “Are you taking anything for it?”
The woman nodded, “Pepper.”

The gathering, which commemorated the group?s 30thanniversary, was held Monday, August 4th in Spearfish, SD, as part of the Sturgis Rally.
Hamster spokesman Grady Pfeiffer says the group is known for their big hearts when it comes to children. ?For 30 years now, Hamsters have stepped up to help out those in need, especially kids,? he says. ?We are really pleased to be able to help make a difference in their lives.?
Funds raised will provide physical, occupational, and speech therapies, plus special educational and psychological services to children in Western South Dakota–plus parts of Wyoming and Nebraska–through Children?s Care of Rapid City.
Hamsters USA has raised and donated funds at their annual meeting for the last three years. Their gifts help provide therapy and educational services to children in their own homes and communities, delivered by Children?s Care personnel who drive over 10,000 miles a month to provide services.
Bob Illingworth honored with Hamsters USA Lifetime Achievement Award & Chrome Heart Award As part of the evening?s festivities, Hamsters USA honored Bob Illingworth of Minneapolis, MN, with a special Lifetime Achievement Award for the work he?s done for that organization. In addition, Children?s Care Hospital & School presented the third annual Chrome Heart Award to Illingworth. The Chrome Heart Award recognizes an individual in the motorcycle world whose philanthropic support and civic duty represents everything positive in the motorcycle industry. The design of the award is based on the heart-apple logo of Children?s Care Hospital & School.

Association, is a long-time Hamster who has performed countless hours of charitable work for many organizations, including Children?s Care. BIKERS CHOICE MEETS BIKERNET FOR SHOWDOWN IN DEADWOOD–Thunder Bob, Richard Shafer, Doris Taylor & Bandit
Thunder Bob & Bandit dine in Deadwood with folks from Biker’s Choice. The Morning Star in historic Deadwood was the place that Bandit, Sin Wu and I met with some nice folks from Biker’s Choice for dinner. Richard Schafer, VP of Sales and Doris Taylor, extraordinary account manager for Biker’s Choice, swapped motorcycle industry stories over a great meal.

Biker’s Choice is one of the world’s leading distributors and marketers of name-brand parts, accessories, and apparel for American motorcycles and the people who ride them. BC is a wholesale distributor and do not sell direct to the public, but you can use their Dealer Locator to find your nearest Biker?s Choice dealer to purchase any of more than 10,000 different products.

Their catalog covers everything from wire and fasteners to fully-loaded “build-your-own” motorcycle kits and from spark plugs to the finest leather apparel available. BC has always been known as a leader in quality parts, and that reputation is exemplified by the brands they represent and the brand names they develop. Biker’s Choice is a source for the leading brand names in the American V-Twin aftermarket industy.
Company History:
In 1971, a business-savvy entrepreneur saw the need for a good Harley parts distributor in the New England area. He started NEMPCO (New England Motor Parts Company). With ten years of growth and success behind him, he brought on a veteran partner to focus on performance and replacement parts. In 1984, to further define the company’s position in the market, they began calling the company “Nempco ? The Biker’s Choice.?
Nempco ?The Biker’s Choice caught the eye of Tucker Rocky, one of the largest distributers of motorcycle parts, and in 1992, they jumped into the Harley accessories market by purchasing Nempco. This gave Nempco the strength of a nationwide sales and distribution system and with it, the ability to expand their product lines. In late 1998, Nempco changed its name to Biker’s Choice ? a name that reflects what the company is all about.
Today, Biker’s Choice is one of the most dynamic brand names with the highest-profile catalog in the industry. Unlike some companies in the industry, Biker’s Choice is run by dedicated, life-long bikers who understand the American motorcycle enthusiast.
Welcome to Bikernet and Bikernet Metric. Great company, great products, great people = great match!
See you down the road…
-Thunder Bob

THERE’S THE LATEST FROM THE FRONT–Life is absolutely nuts. About the time you think you have a plan it’s blown away or covered with two more plans. We’re relaxing for a couple of weeks and focusing on Bikernet, then I’m headed for the hills to rewrite the first Chance Hogan book. I’m going to have published copies by the end of the year.

I discussed Nicole, Ms. Bikernet 2008 in the Sunday Post Intro. It was sad that no American girls could step up and take the prize, but on the other hand I’m now proud to know this Aussie. She’s sharp, quick witted, experienced and taught me a tad about arc welding yesterday. It’s been awhile for me and we were working on Dr. Hamster’s Kendon trailer. It was good to have a quick refresher course from the lovely Nicole. When she offered to step up and give us a hand, we were befuddled, as if she was joking. Not so, she knows her welding shit, so we were humbled and took notes.

Just goes to show we all need to keep open minds and plan on learning something every day. So here’s the question of the day. John McCain suggests that we all look beyond ourselves and do something for the greater good. That’s absolutely the code of the west. So as this year rolls to an end I look longingly toward 2009 and ask myself if I should just go for higher profits or spend that Brouhaha time doing something for all of motorcycling and our freedoms? I’m leaning toward a couple of projects for the greater good of motorcycling which won’t add to the personal profit line, but enhance our freedoms and save lives. Make sure to join your local motorcycle rights group.
Ride Forever,
–Bandit
