NEW WIDE REACTOR CUSTOM WHEEL FOR VRSC MODELS– Five-Spoke Reactor Wheel Now Offered to Fit a 240mm Rear Tire.

MILWAUKEE (April 29, 2008) ? Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Accessories has released a new Reactor Five Spoke Custom Wheel (P/N 4728-08, $1,399.00) designed for 2007-later Harley-Davidson VRSC models with a 240mm-wide rear tire. The 18-inch-diameter rear wheel matches the 19-inch Reactor front wheel (P/N 43219-08, $1,230.00) designed specifically for the VRSC platform. Five slim ?ball-milled? spokes radiate from the center hub to blend with the machined rim for a light, sporting profile. The smooth curving rim is highlighted with machined grooves. Raised bosses on the chrome hub carry the original equipment floating brake rotors. Finish off this new rear wheel with a matching five-spoke Reactor Billet Sprocket (P/N 40161-09, $499.00) and Reactor Sprocket Compensator Bowl (P/N 40168-09, $39.95), also new from Harley-Davidson.

All H-D wheels bear DOT and JWL markings, ensuring that they passed the strenuous tests and meet the requirements of those agencies. Certain wheel kits require separate purchase of a model-specific Wheel Installation Kit. See dealer for fitment details.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED–NACE PANZICA is to stand down as CEO of Custom Chrome parent company Global Motorsport Group– Having recently rescued the company from Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, with the backing of RevTech engine and transmission manufacturer Dae-il Corp (DIC) of South Korea, Panzica is to relinquish his role as a corporate officer and “continue to provide assistance in the future on an advisory basis”.

Panzica had exclusively and confidentially revealed to AMD back in January that if he succeeded in the rescue bid it was then his intention to be able to back-out of routine direct management responsibilities “as soon as practical”, but at the time he was never able to go on the record in this respect in case it “compromised the integrity of the rescue plan”.

Panzica had also told AMD that there was a credibility issue at stake. “After the company had been in the hands of industry outsiders for so long, it was clearly important to prospects for the rescue bid, and to vendor confidence [that outstanding payables would be met] that it was understood that somebody from within the market was steering the outcome of the process.”

In a personal statement released by Panzica on May 28 he said that “As one of the founders of Custom Chrome some 38 years ago, I have a deep seated passion for the company and wanted to see it not only survive, but return to its former leadership position in the marketplace.

“When it was announced last Fall that Cerberus was preparing to liquidate the company through bankruptcy, I felt it my duty to do everything I could to keep it alive, and set 3 goals to accomplish this.

“To secure the funding needed to maintain the company as a viable and active entity; to place the company in the hands of people committed to revitalizing it and helping it regain its former status; and to ensure that the reputation and goodwill of the company in the industry was retained. Central to this was ensuring that more than $7.5m in past due trade payables from the prior owners were paid.

“It has now been 6 months since setting these goals, and I take pride in what has been accomplished. The company was spared liquidation and is still an ongoing concern; the company is now in capable and qualified hands; and more than $7.5m in pre-petition trade payables will have been completely paid by the June 6th deadline.

“So, with my personal goals realized, and not being the “spring-chicken” I once was, I am withdrawing from the active management role I have been playing, and will continue to provide assistance in the future on an advisory basis. I want to thank Dae-il for providing the funding to make this possible, and to wish them and the GMG staff all the best in the years to come.”

SURE SOUNDS LIKE EXTORSION TO ME– Police groups support plan to modernize Michigan’s helmet law.

LANSING – The Michigan Association of Police Organizations has supported a plan that will modernize Michigan’s helmet law by allowing motorcyclists to purchase a special permit to ride helmet-free, ABATE-Michigan announced Thursday.

Money from the permit will help pay for crucial services, and strengthen law enforcement and safety efforts, according to House Bill 4749, which has already passed both chambers with overwhelming support. MAPO represents a vast majority of police officers in Michigan and includes the Michigan State Police Troopers Association, the Michigan Association of Police and the Michigan State Police Command Officers Association.

“As law enforcement officers, we strongly believe that Michigan’s outdated mandatory helmet law has not reduced the number of fatalities nor has it increased safety,” according to the May 27 letter, signed by MAPO President Richard Weiler. “House Bill 4749 is an important, common-sense proposal to bring Michigan in line with 30 other states, while requiring the highest standards to insure that motorcycle riders are safe on our roads. Just as important, HB 4749 can plan a key role in boosting the state’s economy and generate much-needed funds for law enforcement and safety programs.”

THE BIKERNET MEDICAL CLINIC OPEN ON SUNDAYS– The Doctor said ‘Of course I won’t laugh, I’m a professional. In over twenty years I’ve never laughed at a patient.’

‘Okay then,’ Bob said and proceeded to drop his trousers, revealing the tiniest ‘whoo-ha’ the doctor had ever seen. It couldn’t have been bigger than the size of an AAA battery.

Unable to control himself, the doctor started giggling, then fell laughing to the floor. Ten minutes later he was able to struggle to his feet and regain his composure.

‘I’m so sorry,’ said the doctor. ‘I really am. I don’t know what came over me. On my honor as a doctor and a gentleman, I promise it won’t happen again. Now, what seems to be the problem?’

‘It’s swollen,’ Bob replied.

CALIFORNIA CUSTOMS OFFERS FLY AND BUY– California Customs is announcing two new programs to better aid customers in obtaining their own custom built motorcycle or custom unassembled kit. Actually we?re dusting off some past programs that we had dropped over the years. Back in 1997 we offered a Fly & Buy program and we?re bringing it back. If you fly to see us in person we?ll pick you up at the airport, put you up in a hotel for the night and let you see our shop in person while we put together some designs for you custom bike or kit. We?ll credit you the price of the airfare and hotel once you place your order for your bike.

Additionally we?re also accepting dealer applications from select custom shops throughout the country. There will be a limited number of dealerships available to independent motorcycle shops. Our dealers will be able to sell our line of custom bikes as well as our line of unassembled custom kits. The dealers are allowed to sell the kits in unassembled form to their customers or assemble the kits on their own and sell the completed motorcycle. We?re allowing the dealers the freedom to choose the best way to serve their customers in their area.

California Customs offers 26 models in our built bike line and 24 models in our unassembled kit line. For more information call 888-707- CUSTOM or 408-954-8972.We?re on the web at www.calcustom.com too.

TWO BANDIT’S CANTINA WAITRESSES IN HEAVEN–
1st woman: Hi! My name is Wanda.

2nd woman: Hi! I’m Kelly. How’d you die?

1st woman: I Froze to Death.

2nd woman: How Horrible!

1st woman: It wasn’t so bad. After I quit shaking from the cold, I began to get warm & sleepy, and finally died a peaceful death. What about you?

2nd woman: I died of a massive heart attack. I suspected that my husband was cheating, so I came home early to catch him in the act. But instead, I found him all by himself in the den watching TV.

1st woman: So, what happened?

2nd woman: I was so sure there was another woman there somewhere that I started running all over the house looking. I ran up into the attic and searched, and down into the basement. Then I went through every closet and checked under all the beds. I kept this up until I had looked everywhere, and finally I became so exhausted that I just keeled over with a heart attack and died.

1st woman: Too bad you didn’t look in the freezer—we’d both still be alive.

AMSOIL HARLEY BANNER

AIR FILTER MOST IMPORTANT FILTER ON ANY VEHICLE, MOTORCYCLES ARE NO EXCEPTION– Most contaminants enter the engine through the air intake. AMSOIL Ea Motorcycle Air Filters provide superior air filtration performance. Their synthetic nanofiber media traps and holds more wear-causing dirt particles than K&N and Harley-Davidson filters while maintaining improved airflow for maximum performance and fuel economy.

AMSOIL provides Ea Motorcycle Air Filters for Harley-Davidson, Honda GoldWing and virtually all other domestic and metric applications, plus specialty filters for Baron Big Air Intake and S&S Carburetor Systems.

AMSOIL penetration into the motorcycle market has been impressive. There is no reason every bike protected with AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils can?t also be equipped with AMSOIL Ea Air and Oil Filters.

Multiple V-Twin and Metric Applications
Synthetic Nanofiber Media
Maximum Airflow
Maximum Capacity
Extended Service Life

Studies on the ingestion of particulates show that increased dust passing the air filter results in additional engine wear. The greater efficiency of AMSOIL Ea air filters means fewer contaminants entering the engine.

TWO Miami Officers Charged in FBI Corruption Probe– Undercover FBI probe snags 2 Miami cops accused of protecting shipments of drugs, stolen goods. Miami Police Chief John Timoney, listens as Department of Justice officials discuss the charges against two Miami police officers during a news conference in Miami, Friday, May 30, 2008. Two veteran Miami police officers were charged Friday with providing protection for purported shipments of cocaine and stolen goods in an eight-month undercover FBI operation.

Two veteran police officers were charged Friday with providing protection for purported shipments of cocaine and stolen goods in what was actually an undercover FBI operation.

Officer Geovani Nunez and Detective Jorge Hernandez are accused in court documents of helping protect shipments of what they thought were stolen televisions and computers and at least 12 kilograms of cocaine ? sometimes by using their police cars to escort trucks.

Prosecutors said the 13-year veterans of the Miami Police Department were paid a combined $39,500 by a secret FBI informant they thought was involved in illegal businesses, prosecutors said.

Nunez and Hernandez were released on bail after appearing briefly in court. Nunez’s attorney, Michael Catalano, said the allegedly illegal conduct was staged and not real because it was an FBI sting. Catalano also said the officers would fight the charges, which carry potential life sentences.

“They are charged with committing crimes that did not exist,” he said. It was not immediately clear if Hernandez had an attorney.

Police Chief John Timoney said the two officers would be fired. “These two, as far as I’m concerned, are aberrations,” he said. U.S. Attorney R. Alexander Acosta said the case was particularly disheartening in a year when several South Florida police officers have died in the line of duty. “It is sad that a handful of individuals choose to repay their colleagues’ sacrifice through criminal conduct,” Acosta said. The case is similar to a recent FBI sting that led to guilty pleas from five officers in Hollywood, Fla. Four received lengthy prison sentences.

More Police Harrasment???? Are Police looking to raise money from tickets do to budget cutbacks?– LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – State police stopped bikers on their way up the Adirondack Northway Friday afternoon, a few days before the Americade motorcycle rally at Lake George.

They inspected 123 motorcycles and issued 48 tickets. The mandatory checkpoint was in place for about two hours at the I-87 rest area about 40 miles north of Albany in Queensbury. Troopers inspected tires, helmets, exhaust pipes, and licenses. They’ll issue tickets for so-called “novelty helmets” that provide little protection.

State police said the number of motorcycle fatalities rose 29-percent from 2004 to 2006 in New York.

Over 50,000 people are expected at Americade, a weeklong convention in Lake George beginning Monday.

I SURVIVED–The girls are sending a couple of thugs to take me to lunch then bury me in a shallow grave in the desert. It’s all a conspiracy.

Hopefully we’ll dig up the truth or my rusting bones next week. We’ll have a feature on Scott Long’s Chopper Challenge bike (see the next one on Wednesday) and I promised to write Rogue’s story for our Badlands department. Yesterday I stumbled into PowerPlant Motorcycles, a Shop in Hollywood and discovered another Chopper Challenge entry coming together, WWWpowerplantchoppers.com. It’s the best one yet, if I don’t say so myself. Watch for it, and I’ll bring you a couple of teaser shots next week. There’s so much more headed down the pike, but I’ve got to find another bottle of Jack and a pistol that isn’t jammed. Let’s ride.

Ride Forever,

Bandit
