BACK IN THE SADDLE SUNDAY POST FOR MAY 20, 2012

Hey,

Life is nuts, I’m outta town, so my ‘puter goes on strike, then overloads, and all hell breaks loose. The lovely Sin Wu was forced, kicking and screaming, to handle the bulk of the Sunday Post today, but I swear, we will be back on track this week. My computer guy is a monster, full-bearded longshoreman, who works strange hours.

Ray Wheeler bailed this morning for the desert of El Mirage, for SCTA time trials. He reported that Noonan ran 240 mph yesterday. Speaking of yesterday, since my computer screamed at me, we ran over to South Bay Triumph. Matt’s team builds some amazing modified Triumphs, and he’s building a 1700cc twin with monster pistons, and going after six records this year on the salt. Hang on for more reports. Let’s hit the news.

RSD “ASSAULTS” THE STATUS QUO

Wool/Leather Hybrid Jacket Now Available

May 15th, 2012 – Los Alamitos, CA – Tired of the same old thing? The new “Assault” jacket from Roland Sands Design upsets the apple cart while still combining motorcycling tradition with functionality and style. Not just another “me-too” bit of kit, the Assault utilizes a heavy wool body with strategically placed leather accents. By mixing these complimentary materials, the Assault offers the perfect blend of style and performance, according to RSD.

“With a water repellent finish, natural breathability and comfort, the choice of wool makes sense, says racer-turned designer, Roland Sands. Classic lines blended with subtle features make it uniquely RSD. “With forward rotated, pre-curved sleeves, a bomber-style waistband and shoulder gussets for mobility, the Assault is a great everyday jacket,” suggests Sands. “It is perfect for those summer casual rides.”

The relaxed café collar and RSD “numbers” embossed in the satin liner are among the styling cues that remain true to Roland’s racing roots. “The wool-leather combo is a classic, and provides excellent breathability for warmer weather, while the leather provides structure and a measure of protection for those casual rides.” Don’t go with the status quo! Get the Assault instead:

SINISTER GANGSTERGLIDE – THE ONE AND ONLY SINGLE HEADLIGHT FAIRING FOR ROAD GLIDES…..

THE SQUARE NOSE IS DEAD…..

John Shope took the term “less is more” very seriously when he designed this single headlight outer fairing for Harley-Davidson Road Glides and custom Road Glide applications. Sinister Industries GangsterGlide fairing is manufactured from composite materials for added strength and durability. Aussie state of Victoria no biker Switzerland: top cop

The head of the Victoria Police Crime Department has slammed suggestions that the state has become “bikie Switzerland”, amid claims groups are seeking to move from states where governments are introducing anti-association laws aimed at breaking up outlaw motorcycle clubs.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Doug Fryer told The Australian’s Adam Shand that Victoria Police’s Taskforce Echo had not seen any significant increase in the state’s bikie numbers in recent years.

There had been only moderate growth of club membership in Victoria and no influx of new clubs setting up in the state to escape new laws in NSW, South Australia and Western Australia, contrary to recent media reports.

Mr Fryer would not comment on the need for new laws in Victoria, but said Taskforce Echo had “a handle on the club problem” under the existing legislation.

Victorian Premier Ted Baillieu has flagged new anti-biker legislation but has backed away from earlier promises to introduce anti-association legislation.

…Mr Fryer said sections of the media had incorrectly connected Victoria’s groups with reports of open warfare between clubs following a spate of biker-related incidents in other states.

He highlighted the reporting of an alleged shooting of a member of the Bandidos in a Surfers Paradise shopping centre last month. Initial reports had indicated the alleged shooter had been a Victoria-based hitman sent to Queensland to assassinate the Bandido, a tattoo parlour owner named Jacques Teamo.

It later emerged the alleged shooter, Mark James Graham, was a members of the Finks motorcycle club and the shooting had been a spontaneous event when the pair had bumped into each other in the shopping centre.

Victorian bikers had deliberately limited the recruitment of members of ethnic groups linked to violent street crime in NSW, including a spate of drive-by shootings, Mr Fryer said. “Clubs in Victoria have a desire to stay out of the headlines, unlike groups in other states.”

He labelled as unhelpful reports suggesting all club members were involved in serious and organised crime: “There are pockets within the many clubs . . . involved in serious and organised crime but to suggest that church nights (weekly club meetings) are all about the members sitting around to organise crime is not correct.”

He said organised crime in the clubs was non-hierarchical, with members often unaware of each other’s criminal activities.

Marines want this ALL OVER THE NET, Pass It Forward, please–

This is a poem being sent from a Marine To his Dad. For those who take
the time to read it, you’ll see a letter from him to his dad at the
bottom. It makes you truly thankful for not only the Marines, but ALL
of our troops.

*****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

THE MARINE

We all came together,
Both young and old
To fight for our freedom,
To stand and be bold.

In the midst of all evil,
We stand our ground,
And we protect our country
From all terror around..

Peace and not war,
Is what some people say.
But I’ll give my life,
So you can live the American way.

I give you the right
To talk of your peace.
To stand in your groups,
And protest in our streets.

But still I fight on,
I don’t bitch, I don’t whine.
I’m just one of the people
Who is doing your time.

I’m harder than nails,
Stronger than any machine.
I’m the immortal soldier,
I’m a U.S. MARINE!

So stand in my shoes,
And leave from your home.
Fight for the people who hate you,
With the protests they’ve shown.
Fight for the stranger,
Fight for the young.
So they all may have,
The greatest freedom you’ve won.

Fight for the sick,
Fight for the poor..
Fight for the cripple,
Who lives next door.

But when your time comes,
Do what I’ve done.
For if you stand up for freedom,
You’ll stand when the fight’s done

ONLY THE SHADOW KNOWS FOR SURE–How this week will end up. I need to head back over to my ‘puter guy, for more upgrades, but not until Friday. While my ‘puter acted up I was able to stand in the sun and enjoy the calm vibes, pull weeds and work on my Mudflap Girl FXR engine alignment and chain guard. I never liked the last one I made–another good reason we didn’t go to paint. Thursday I’ll bring you a couple of shots of this crazy steel guard. Plus, most of the weeds our back are pulled.

I will scramble, over the next couple of days to get caught up with e-mails, enhance my spam eliminator, post a new story from Bikernet Betsy, and attempt to energize my creative spirit. Nothing destroys the creative spirit like a busted ‘puter. Hell, I didn’t know which way to turn. Then, of course, I’m dealing with new e-mail system and another unfamiliar learning curve. Hang on.

Ride Forever,
