Hey,
We discuss how life is nuts. I had a meeting with the Triking Viking yesterday, and we kicked-around the future of Bikernet, BikernetTrikes, new technology, etc. It’s all good and challenging to look at magazines, the internet and the tech changes popping up daily. We are seemingly on the right path to a new ad program, some redesign, and mobile friendly.
Then I open the Week Magazine and see where someone thinks the government should send you a paycheck every month, so you have more money to spend. I also read where it was suggested to shut the Pentagon down. And the TSA gang should be fired and all the folks trained in landscaping. It’s interesting. Once an agency is started they rarely do a job and say goodbye. They just grow and become more controlling.
So, what’s the issue? In todays atmosphere, everything happens faster. Let’s ride.
INDEPENDENCE DAY BIKERNET WEEKLY NEWS for June 30, 2019
What was the cure for the 5-Ball Speedster?
Happy 4th Holiday to you !

See below…
THE FACTORY RACER CONTROVERSY– Damn, the whole thread was great to read and try to diagnose.
So, what happened, how about, was it electric or mechanical, or fuel related?
You are not leaving me behind the 5-Ball on this, pal.
Stay cool ….

There’s still a question, and I will work on it and test ride it again today. I need to create a list of changes. We adjusted the valves several times. I switched out the cam. We performed a complete Biker’s Choice Tech, including a knockout Lithium Battery, a mini-coil, and a new electronic ignition system. Hell, I took the headlight apart.
James, from Biker’s Choice, suggested Rivera-Primo advance weights and setting it up in the dual fire mode. I suspected the carb mount and removed it. We replaced the cam with a JIMS job and returned the S&S reed valve to the cam case. The bottom end breathes out between the heads, and I made sure the opening was unobstructed. It was definitely running better, but still had an issue. I checked all the grounds.

JAY LENO’S CRASH REPORT– He’s bruised but okay. He had a bad rollover crash at Irwindale, but the car had a roll cage and he was wearing a helmet and full harness.
He was lucky …he was a passenger and the guy driving ran out of talent in a turn.

Quotes
The manner of the Quartermaster had that air of supererogatory courtesy about it which almost invariably denotes artifice; for, while physiognomy and phrenology are but lame sciences at the best, the perhaps lead to as many false as right conclusions, we hold that there is no more infallible evidence of insincerity of purpose, short of overt acts, than a face that smiles when there is no occasion, and the tongue that is out of measure smooth.
— James Fenimore Cooper, The Pathfinder, 1840
Origin of supererogatory
Supererogatory stems from the Medieval Latin supererogatorius, with the root word erogare meaning “to pay out.” It entered English in the late 1500s.

When you’re chasing a dream, you can’t ever stop believing. Dream Racer is an inspiring account of the fear of life going by unfulfilled and the pursuit of dreams as the antidote to this fear.
BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY DURING THE HOLIDAY– If life deals you lemons, make lemonade. If life deals you tomatoes, make Bloody Mary’s.
A woman goes to her gynecologist. “What seems to be the problem?” asked her doctor.
“Something is terribly wrong, I keep finding postage stamps from Costa Rica in my vagina.”
The doctor had a look, then chuckled before she said “Those aren’t postage stamps my dear, they’re the stickers off the bananas”

PARIS’ BAN ON OLDER MOTORCYCLES BEGINS NEXT MONTH– If your particular (peculiar) motorcycling goal is to ride your 1947 Triumph T100 down the Champs-Elysees to commemorate the Allied liberation of Paris, you’d better move quickly.
Beginning July 1, Paris will begin phasing in new vehicle restrictions to deal with the city’s air pollution problem. Cars built before 1997 and motorcycles from before 2000 will be banned.
Paris is not the only major city that is dealing with air pollution problem by restricting motorcycles and other personal motor vehicles.
Mexico City imposed restrictions last month when pollution conditions reached dangerous levels. Vehicles with license plates ending in certain numbers are prohibited from being used in the city on certain days, thus cutting down on overall traffic.
New Delhi, which according to one World Health Organization study has the worst air pollution of any city tested, has tried similar restrictions in the past, but targeted cars only and exempted motorcycles.
Rome banned car and motorcycle use for certain hours when weather conditions created a severe pollution problem.
Paris air pollution
Paris is just one of several cities around that world that have imposed vehicle restrictions to deal with dangerous air pollution levels. But unlike other cities, Paris is being stricter, rather than less strict, with motorcycles.
What makes the Paris ban different is that it specifically targets older vehicles that were built before more stringent emissions controls were implemented and it sets a slightly stricter standard for motorcycles than for cars. This first phase bans motorcycles from before June 1, 2000. Tighter restrictions will be phased in, and by 2020, motorcycles from before 2004 will be prohibited.
Motorcyclists and vintage car groups have protested, but with no success and not in great numbers. Others have argued that the measures disproportionately affect lower income groups. The city is offering aid to people who are affected, to help them find other transportation options.
Motorcycles provide plenty of advantages to crowded cities dealing with traffic problems: They take up less space on the road and in parking lots, in addition to using less fuel than almost all cars. The dirty little secret about motorcycling, however, has been that for most of the recent past they have been worse polluters than cars, because of less extensive emissions controls.
By targeting the specific vehicles that pollute more, Paris’ restrictions have a chance of being more effective than measures such as those in Mexico City and New Delhi. But they also hit harder at motorcyclists.

Why do governments always look at problems and then come up with restrictions or bans. Why don’t they take a much more human approach. What if they make it easier for folks to work out of their homes, so they didn’t commute to work.
THE PIRELLI RACE REPORT– Barcia and Bloss Capture Season-Best Finishes for Pirelli at RedBud
Today, the sixth round of the 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship kicked off at the historic RedBud Motocross Park as race fans lined the fences in celebration of Fourth of July weekend. Spectators and racers were treated to below normal temperatures that helped keep moisture in the track throughout the afternoon. Pirelli riders favored the SCOPRION™ MX32™ soft to mid terrain front and rear tires as their weapon of choice.
Leading the way for Pirelli riders was none other than 2015 450MX Class RedBud race-winner Justin Barcia aboard his Autotrader/Monster Energy/Yamaha. As the gate dropped for Moto 1, the No.51 found himself fighting for the number one position as the 40-rider field rounded the first corner and he eventually crossed the opening lap in second. “Bam Bam” battled for the runner-up position during the early stages of the race and eventually moved into third on Lap 7. He would earn his first moto podium of the season with a hard-fought third. A start just inside of the top-10 in Moto 2 cost him valuable time, but he charged to a strong fourth place en route to a season-best fourth overall (3-4).
When racing at the pinnacle of the sport, comfort can play a critical role in the outcome of a racers performance and rookie sensation Benny Bloss proved just that. The young rider from Missouri circulated the opening lap of Moto 1 just inside of the top-20, but that would not last long as he made quick work and finished an impressive 11th. Moto 2 once again saw the BTO Sports/WPS/KTM rider get off to a mid-pack star and ride like a seasoned pro as he sliced his way through traffic. He would cross the checkered flag in 10th, giving him a career-best 10th overall (11-10).
Finishing just behind Bloss, BTO Sports teammate Andrew Short carried the momentum he has been building each race as the gate dropped in RedBud. “Shorty” started just outside of the top-10 in Moto 1 before using his veteran experience to claw his way into ninth at the finish. He charged to 12th in Moto 2, which gave him 11th overall (9-12). Despite bad starts in both 450MX races, Justin Brayton charged the entire 30-minutes plus two laps and finished 12th overall (12-13).
After an inspiring ride just one week ago at Muddy Creek Raceway in Tennessee, Weston Peick was forced to retire early from 450MX Moto 1 while running inside of the top-10. He rebounded in the second moto to claim 11th for 15th overall (33-11). JGRMX teammate Phil Nicoletti spent most of Moto 1 fighting for position near the top five, but like Peick, he suffered from misfortune and dropped out of the race. The New Yorker finished 15th in Moto 2, placing him 18th overall (32-15).
The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship will return to action next weekend on Saturday, July 9 for the seventh round at the sand box in Southwick, Massachusetts for the first time since 2013.

BRASS BALLS CYCLES UPDATE–
Now that we are wrapping up our backlog of customer bikes, we’ve started to implement some of the new directional changes for Brass Balls Cycles.
• We will continue to hand craft bespoke, ground up, custom production motorcycles… but on a limited basis and only for a select number of clients. We will be removing some of the bike models from our current offering and only focus on building the bikes that make sense for us and our customers.
• Realizing that a ground up custom bike may not be for everyone, we are also offering a less expensive price segment by customizing Harley’s & other cool bikes, and giving them a Brass Balls Cycles signature look.
• Finally, we are developing a custom Brass Balls Cycles parts line. Our parts will reflect our style of timeless cool design, marrying form & function. It is our hope that more riders will become part of the Brass Balls family and take a piece of us along for the ride.
Not only have we been building custom bikes for customers, but we also recently finished a co-branded custom chopper with PBR (Pabst Blue Ribbon) which is being raffled to support our troops through the Warriors For Freedom charity. Only $10 tickets. It’s a badass bike. More to come on it soon… Like in the next few days soon!
Given that we recently celebrated our 10 year anniversary, combined with other new changes around here, we’ve decided to update our brand. With that we are introducing a new corporate logo and supplemental graphics. We are also working with an amazing company to help us develop a new website with a tentative launch date of August 1st. We can’t wait to share it with the world.
Please tell your friends to check us out, online at BrassBallsCycles.com and on social medias. Stay tuned and Thank you so much for your support.

NEW TO BIKERNET BAGGERS– Temple Tour # 10: Moonings, Missions and Motorcycles Mission San Juan Capistrano.
San Juan Capistrano is a mixed bag. Between the piousness of its Mission, debauchery of the annual “Mooning of the Amtrak”, Orange County bourgeois and biker hangouts, it’s no wonder clouds of swallows no longer descend on Mission San Juan Capistrano.
Mooning of the Amtrak: In 1979, an alcohol fueled dare at Mugs Away Saloon began the annual mooning tradition that prevails to this day. More and more people show up every year to drop their pants and moon the passing Amtrak trains. Metrolink commuter trains started weekend operation in 2006 giving the mooners even more opportunities to drop their inhibitions and their drawers.

OPEN LETTER FROM BANDIT’S CANTINA CO-EDITOR IS CHARGE– I think the right path is to destroy Facebook. I truly believe that Facebook has destroyed most content specific / photography / news sites by making available for free what everyone used to have to pay for.
However, they can’t post nudity so creative sexy content still seems to win, especially if combining that with motorcycles. The issue is, gathering enough funding to get 20 or 30 good shoots together. If I can figure that out, I think things would rock.

BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY OPEN AFTER HOURS–
I was sitting on a bench next to a homeless man, I asked him how he ended up this way.
He said, “Up until last week, I still had it all!! A cook, my clothes were washed and pressed, I had a roof over my head, I had TV and internet, I went to the gym, the pool, the library, I had medical and dental free, I could still go to school …”
I asked him, “What happened? Drugs? Alcohol? Divorce???”
“Oh, no, nothing like that” he said. “No, no … I got out of prison.”

NEW ON WORLD RIDER–
Adventure & Discovery Around The World.
Shipping Doc (the name of the motorcycle) to Iceland—The Drama
I’ve always wanted to go to Iceland. What about you? Of course, I want to ride my motorcycle from one end of the island to the other, border to border. Not any motorcycle, my motorcycle, Doc.
After appearing at the final Travel & Adventure Show in Philadelphia in March, and in anticipation of a summer adventure in Iceland, I left my bike with Tim in his garage in New Jersey.
I thought it would be easy. Icelandair flies a dedicated cargo plane from New York twice a week. At least that’s what I found through research.
After calling the cargo department at JFK Airport, I learned that now there is only one flight per week. For the last two months the second flight has been grounded. The plane was pulled due to mandated inspections and maintenance. With only one flight per week, the available cargo space is less than half than before. The only cargo flight to Iceland leaves on Saturdays.
“All vehicles must fly standby,” Hálidor, the Icelandair cargo specialist explained. “We’ve been full the last two weeks.” He tells me that there’s a car in the warehouse that has been waiting to ship for more than two months. I suggest that a motorcycle is much smaller and weighs less a car. “We cannot guarantee space.”
I take risks, and don’t mind gambling, not in the Vegas sense, but in looking positively and fully expecting that fate will yield to my desired outcome.
Suddenly, my timeline got compressed. With business to take care of in San Diego, including preparing my home and my cat, Dar, for its summer caretaker and house sitter, my nephew Robert, I needed to get my bike crated and prepped quicker than originally planned.
This meant getting my bike to a local shop before I arrived on the east coast. While I would love to see Tim behind the bars of a motorcycle, I didn’t want to push him into an accelerated lesson. I needed to find someone nearby Tim’s place, who could ride the bike to the dealership. So I reached out to Alan Tecchio, a moto-journalist, heavy metal rock n’ roll vocalist and longtime Motorcycle Safety Foundation instructor. I met Alan when he contacted me about doing a story on my book “FORKS” for his column in a local magazine.
The best part? He lives less than a mile from Tim. The two of them arranged to drive and ride together, Tim bringing Alan back to his home. I arranged to have my bike crated in New Jersey at the legendary Cross Country Cycle BMW & Ducati dealership in Metuchen, New Jersey, just 20 minutes or so from JFK Airport, and about 30 miles from Alan and Tim.
It rained heavily the day that Tim and Alan headed to Cross Country Cycles. Tim would be safe and dry in his car, but Alan was a trooper and donned his rain-suit and made the trip. Though he was a bit nervous given a few miles into the trip the reserve fuel warning light came on, I had to drain the fuel from the motorcycle for it to be cleared for being in the convention center by the Philadelphia Fire Marshall.
More to come…
–Allan
WHAT’S HAPPENING NEXT WEEK ON BIKERNET— RFR sent a report from flooded Houston. We have a motorcycle shipping report from a new contributor. Paul Garson is working on an in-depth report from La Machina, and I will do something, even if it’s wrong.
We now have the MetalSport Update completed, and it should be on line tomorrow. It’s a cool company, I believe run the right way. Hopefully, I will complete the Jim Waggaman seat tech with the help of Saddlemen.
I hope to ride the factory racer to Walker’s Café today. The bike has been together 4 maybe 5 years, but I need to follow the Eddie Trotta break-in rule. It’s very wise. First you ride around the block and then check the bike over. Then you ride a mile and do the same. Then five miles. Each time checking and making adjustments. Then 10 miles and finally 25 and 50 miles. Then change your oil and you should be good to go.
The formula works every time and could save your life. I’ve been over two miles on the factory racer, and I’ve checked it out a few times. I will study it this morning, one more time and replace the carb mount. It’s about ten miles to Walker’s café. I’ll report in.
Ride for Freedom Everyday,
