The HURRICANE Sunday Post for October 9, 2016

Hey,

Rogue brought us the majority of the Hurricane news and the impact on Daytona, since he lives in Florida and survived.

On the other hand, it turns out Oil may be the good guy, direct from the earth refined and used in may forms, whereas killing cows, pigs, birds and fish might be a major cause of planet problems.

Imagine, if “Thou shall no kill applied to helpless cattle.” Imagine if Al Gore made it all up so he could be rich with carbon credits? Imagine. I need a beer.

HURRICANE NEWS FROM THE FLORIDA FRONT–
I made it through the hurricane okay and just have to do a little clean up.

I am not too sure about Daytona though and am doing some checking and trying to see how it will affect Bike Week.

Rossmeyer H-D is not answering the phone and there are some power outages in the area But I suspect that will be fixed shortly
Tropical Tattoo has reported everyone is okay but they lost the well -known yellow sign in front of the shop.

I am trying to confirm a report that New Smyrna Speedway has serious damage. That is where Billy Lane is scheduled to have his event.

Concerns about lodging as many people went to hotels are still coming in.

My plan was and still is to ride to Daytona on Thursday to cover the Ride In Show at Tropical Tattoo.

Depending on a lot of things plan was to ride home that night and then ride back up Friday or Saturday. I will keep you informed.

QUICK, OPEN THE BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY–
So, I was walking downtown and I saw that there was a “Muslim Book Store.” I was wondering what exactly was in a Muslim book store, so I went in. As I was wandering around taking a look, the clerk gave me the stink eye but asked if he could help me.

I imagine I didn’t look like his normal clientele, so I asked, “Do you have a copy of Donald Trump’s book on his U.S. immigration policy regarding Muslims and illegal aliens?”

The clerk said, “Kiss my ass, get out, and stay out!”

I said, “Yes, that’s the one. Do you have it in paperback?

New Ducati SuperSport unveiled at INTERMOT–
Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali presents, in Cologne, the first of a series of new bikes from the Bologna-based motorcycle manufacturer
The SuperSport is a versatile sport bike: agile in town, comfortable on the motorway, smoothly effective on countryside bends and on the track
The SuperSport range also includes the SuperSport S version
The SuperSport will be available in Ducati Stores by March 2017

Ducati took advantage of the special press-only day at INTERMOT 2016 to unveil the first of a series of new bikes for 2017. At the Cologne motorcycle fair, Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali took to the stage to present the SuperSport, the company’s latest sport motorcycle

“I’m extremely proud to be able to reveal the latest Ducati 2017 bikes, starting with the SuperSport”, stated Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali at the bike’s unveiling. “After sharing a sneak peek with the Ducatista community at WDW 2016, we’re ready to present the bike to the thousands of enthusiasts who had eagerly awaited a sport bike capable of ensuring both fun and comfort, even in everyday riding situations.

Expert riders will appreciate the true sports personality of the SuperSport, its excellent road performance and apparent penchant for journeying and everyday use. Riders approaching the Ducati sports world for the first time will discover versatility, easy handling and, above all, the very essence of sports riding as Ducati sees it.

“Mr. Domenicali is looking forward to EICMA 2016: “Next month, during the Ducati World Première – held on November 7, and streamed live across the globe – we’ll reveal the other bikes being launched by Ducati this coming year, thus completing the range and, we can confidently say, meeting many of the needs and wants of the riders in our community, as well as those who, thanks to these latest machines, will soon be joining it”.

The Ducati SuperSport is designed for those who want a sport-inspired bike that still provides comfort and easy handling on everyday roads. A fun bike that’s versatile and accessible, with the style and soul of a real Ducati thoroughbred.

A lean and mean road machine with a decidedly approachable feel thanks to easy handling, the confidence-inspiring Ducati Safety Pack (Bosch ABS + Ducati Traction Control), the awesome price-quality ratio of the equipment and the long maintenance intervals.

Powering the SuperSport is a twin-cylinder 937 cm³ Testastretta 11° engine, delivering 113 hp and a full yet linear torque curve. Thanks to the three Riding Modes (Sport, Touring, and Urban), the SuperSport’s temperament can be adapted to maximize enjoyment whatever the riding conditions.

Agile on city streets, comfortable on the motorway and superlative on twisting country roads, the SuperSport is super-versatile. Relaxed rider and passenger positions, good airflow deflection from the height-adjustable screen and the mileage provided by the 16-litre fuel tank also make the new Ducati SuperSport a cool companion on medium-distance rides.

The SuperSport range includes a SuperSport S version featuring fully adjustable Öhlins suspension, the Ducati Quick Shift up/down system and a rear seat cover: the latter are also available as accessories for the SuperSport.

The new SuperSport is displayed on the Ducati stand (Hall 8 Stand A42/50) together with other new 2017 bikes such as the Monster 821 EURO 4, now available in the new “Dust Grey,” and the Diavel EURO 4. Other all-new developments include the “Volcano Grey” color for the Multistrada 1200 S, on which technical upgrades have been introduced, and the 1299 Panigale, which now features a new EVO electronics package featuring Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC).
Ducati is at INTERMOT in Hall 8 on Stand A42/50 together with the Ducati Scrambler brand and its “Land of Joy.” The Ducati Scrambler stand features teasers for two new developments set to go on show at EICMA.

NEW REPS FOR THE MOTORCYCLE RIDERS FOUNDATION– I would like to welcome a new assistant MRF Rep in New Mexico Raymond Gallegos.

Raymond serves as CO/Chair of the New Mexico Motorcyclist Rights Organization along with myself. He is a young freedom fighter, enthusiastic, a strong leader with a passion for motorcycle rights and safety awareness. I am proud to work beside him.

We have already heard that there will be upcoming mandatory helmet legislation for New Mexico in 2017. We have had an increase in motorcycle crashes reported to us in 2016. We are aware of 186 accidents in our area of the state, with only with 35 fatalities.

Last year at this time we were a 140 crashes with 23 fatalities. We have spent a
lot of time with our biker down program at the hospital supporting the families of the fallen motorcyclist and the injured. My concern is that they will use these statistics against us. We are preparing for the fight again.

KEEP THE BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY OPEN–
I was standing at the
bar one night minding my own business.
This FAT ugly chick came up behind me, grabbed my behind and said, “You’re kind’a cute. You gotta phone number?”

I said, “Yeah, you gotta pen?”

She said, “Yeah, I got a pen.”

I said, “You better get back in it before the farmer misses you.”

GUN NUT REPORT– California Alert: Prop 63 DESTROYING Gun Rights

In just over 30 days, Californians across the state will vote on Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom’s ill-conceived Prop 63. NRA is working with other civil rights groups in California to protect your right to keep and bear arms.

Prop 63 would limit your right to defend yourself. It would allow California politicians to take away your civil rights.

DON’T LET THEM

Your NRA is proud to be working with the Coalition for Civil Liberties – the diverse group leading the charge against Prop 63. The Coalition has launched three ads across the state, and will be launching more to make sure every Californian knows that Prop 63 is bad for you, your family and for law enforcement.

STAND UP FOR YOUR SECOND AMENDMENT

The major law enforcement groups in California are against Prop 63 because it forces police, sheriffs, and other officials to prosecute law-abiding citizens – people like you.

STAND WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT

Law enforcement – the public safety professionals who work tirelessly to keep us safe – are opposed to Prop 63 because they know it won’t make us safer. Your NRA stands with them.

Please support the Coalition for Civil Liberties against Gavin Newsom’s disastrous Prop 63 by contributing to their campaign today!

THE M-8 REPORT– Bandit, please put out the word that although the reviews have been phenomenol about the 2017 Milwaukee 8 motors, there are major issues.

Take a look at the hdforums.com about the oil pressure light. Oil pumps are shit on these bikes. Ask me how I know. 688 miles and the bike is shit. Probably a motor swap but what am I getting?

This is ridiculous for a company like HD. They claim 1.5 million miles of testing? Maybe they should have added another 700 miles because most of the failures are occurring within 700 miles.

Just a heads up. These bikes are not what H-D is pushing them to be.

–Roger Bowles
bmetdoc@gmail.com

FYI, they told me today it was the oil pressure switch. They replaced it and said all is good. Time will tell. Good thing I bought the extended warranty.

We will bring you more reports on new bike handling packages and the new M-8 engine shortly. –Bandit

ANOTHER GUN NUT REPORT–
Enforcement Agencies Registering Vehicle Information of Gun Show Attendees

A report this week in the Wall Street Journal provides further indication of the Obama administration’s persecutory attitude toward America’s gun owners.

The newspaper claimed emails from a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request show that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents used local police officers in Southern California to drive around the parking lot of a large gun show to “collect all of the cars’ information.”

Based on normal attendance at the show, thousands of individuals who were under no particularized suspicion were likely swept up in the surveillance dragnet.

The article states that ICE had hatched a plan to use license plate readers (LPRs) at Southern California gun shows to compare information on vehicles parked at the shows with information on vehicles later crossing the border into Mexico.

Of course, there’s nothing inherently suspicious about attending a gun show or traveling to a neighboring country, even if one event precedes another.

And unsurprisingly, according to the article, “There is no indication the gun-show surveillance led to any arrests or investigative leads ….”

Nevertheless, officials contacted by the Journal did not “rule out that such surveillance may have happened elsewhere.”

What happened to the information gathered by the surveillance, and whether it remains on file with the government, is unknown.

Federal law prohibits the government from compiling a registry of firearms or their owners from certain types of specified information. Information obtained by LPRs, a relatively new technology, is not covered by these provisions.

SIDECAR SHIPPING–
Sidecars are, rightfully, regaining popularity all over the globe. Their stylish versatility is something almost any rider can justify. They’re not just for wives anymore — though many still love it for that purpose.

It would be silly for any rider who loves traveling with a pet to not at least entertain the idea of a sidecar. For dogs, it’s like hanging their head out the window times ten!

It’s also a great alternative to a trike. Many riders at some point or another can’t quite support two wheels like they used to. Getting a sidecar for a new bike, vintage bike or even a sport bike can keep you riding the bike you love safely, without having to sacrifice your favorite style.

Don’t forget that sidecars are great for long treks cross country (or to the grocery store) due to their storage capacity. You’d have the coolest grocery-getter in town. Who needs a Volvo?

With free shipping to your home or business, what more motivation do you need? Save yourself $200-500 and order your sidecar today.

BIKERNET READER COMMENT–
I am glad to see you did a special on that Stardust chopper from Cycle Source issue 233 . One of the finest pieces of art any guy could build. The girder is not one of my favorites but it works in his case .

I am a springer fan from the old school, but I don’t like the big lower rockers on one . To each man to his own. You just can’t beat an old Knucklehead . Thanks for the info on the flat track circuit. Some one had told me the season was over. I hope not. Keep up the great work .

THE BIKENET BAD JOKE LIBRARY IS OPEN FOR LUNCH– I was telling a woman

“Really” she said, “Go on

After about thirty seconds of fondling
she began to lose patience and said, “Come on, what day was I born?”

I said, “Yesterday.”

I got caught taking a

I went to the pub last

“Good legs.”

The girl giggled and said, “Do you

I said, “Definitely! Most tables

SUSPENSION TECHNOLOGIES Ships Hooligan Racing Shocks– Suspension Technologies’ Hooligan Shocks Transforms Harley’s Sportsters into a New Motorcycle.
Suspension Technologies U.S.A. announced today that they are shipping their Hooligan Racer Shock for the Harley-Davidson Hooligan-class race bikes.

Whether you’re Hooligan racing or just want more performance, the Suspension Technologies U.S.A.’s Hooligan Shocks for 2000-2017 Harley-Davidson Sportsters models delivers a real performance edge for street bikes and dirt track racers.

Hooligan Shocks for Hooligan Racers

A Hooligan Racer Shock® is built with premium components in a technically-advanced design so that it will significantly increase the capabilities of the bike, including stopping, accelerating and turning. In addition, because it is designed for racing applications, it will reduce fatigue and improve the rider’s handling and control of the motorcycle.

Using his decades of racing connections, Mike Alex, Suspension Technologies’ Shock Specialist, sourced the best American shock components including rods, bushings and seals and applied it to the tried and true racing-oriented performance designs that he’d been working on for over the last twenty years.

“Our Hooligan Racer Shock is fully double-adjustable for compression and rebound as well as offered in 3 spring rates,” explained Alex. “We balance the valving between the piston and the base valve, and this allows us to get more dampening and deliver a more consistent, plush and controllable ride for the racer.”

To ensure consistency, each shock is hand-assembled, dyno-tested and matched to 2% of dampening force. The preload is also adjustable.

Another technique born of racing is the utilization of low pressure nitrogen gas in a monotube body. This enhances the control of the race bike because it provides a more linear transition from compression to rebound. Conversely, utilizing high gas pressure can become a de facto gas-spring, which can be difficult to tune.

“Make a small adjustment to the Hooligan shock and you can tell the difference on the bike,” said Matt Harris, Hooligan Racer and 40 Cal Customs’ President. “It’s more stable and delivers a solid feel to the rear of the bike.”

The combination of a strong engineering staff, in-house CAD design and CNC machines allows the firm to deliver the highest-quality motorcycle parts and accessories available today.

Each shock utilizes aircraft-quality 6061 T6 billet aluminum components, which are anodized for long term durability and good looks.

The Hooligan Racer Shock is available from your local dealer or directly from www.YelvingtonUSA.com.

BIKERDOWN CRASH WEB SITE– We have developed a network mostly through Facebook, on my personal page and the NMMRO FB page that when someone sees a motorcycle crash in our state they reach out to me or a NMMRO board member either by text, phone call or Facebook.

On Facebook we put #nmbikerdown. We report location of crash, description of bike and if rider is transported to the hospital or is okay if we know. Our community is very tight so we sometimes have support to them or the family as soon as possible.

Last month through the description of the bike at a crash on our message, the family was able to determine it was there loved one that was the crash victim and rushed to the hospital and were able to spend the last 15 minutes of his life saying good bye. Now that family has got involved in our organization and as safety advocates.

With permission we come to the hospital with our motorcycle ministry and pray with the crash victims or families and give them support, sometime by them lunch or beverage while they are waiting. This means so much to them.

We follow them after the crash and help obtain durable equipment they need during there recovery or have helped make a ramp for a wheel chair. One of our board member is a social worker so he help get the assistance if need or advise with insurance or hospital bill.

If the victim or family allows only with permission we put out a pray request for them on FB. People will respond with prayer and this shows the victim or family they have support during this difficult times. And it also brings awareness to all especially the cagers, when they see oh no another crash, some times three in one day it definitely makes and Impact. After reporting 186 crashes we have been made aware of it makes quite and impact to look out for motorcycles on our roads or that riders need to be more responsible.

It took a while but now anyone even cagers report crashes to us.

Last week at an event that Kim Coates Tig from Sons of Anarchy came out and road with us on a distracted driving awareness run the NMMRO and Local Harley dealership had we made poster board of the crash victims: one poster board for survivors one for the fallen. It made quite and impact.

Then we invited the family of the fallen and the crash survivors to join us that day and had them say a few words up on the stage that was powerful what better way to promote awareness.

We had three mothers and fathers who lost a son speak, this is healing for them also and to see the support they have. I have include pictures of the boards and some pictures I included that puts awareness in front of you with some what of a shock value.

Call me me if you want to discuss it further.

HURRICANE ALERT–
Florida Business Owners Engage In Shootout With Looters; 31 Confirmed Dead

Florida Police Officers Arrest Store Owner After Killing Looter.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, estimated to be one of the most destructive and deadly hurricanes to hit the United States in decades, 31- individuals have been confirmed dead after a group of store owners within a Florida strip mall engaged in a deadly shootout with looters.

The incident occurred this morning at approximately 10:00 AM when a large group of 42-looters attempted to forcefully steal from businesses at the Willow Brook shopping center located just outside of Daytona Beach, Florida.

The Willow Brook shopping center is comprised of nine primarily small independently owned local businesses including a discount clothing store, tanning salon, karate studio, smoke shop, and Mexican restaurant.

According to Conner Olsen, the co-owner of ‘Gadgets’ a small electronics store located in the strip mall, the owners of all nine businesses located at Willow Brook briefly met Wednesday night and unanimously decided to forego evacuation and defend their businesses against looters.

Olsen told reporters, “As a small business owner who (has) lived in Florida his entire, I’m no stranger to natural disasters and the tragedy they bring. I’ve gone through this before and have been looted – completely cleaned out. In our current economy my business just couldn’t survive large scale theft and vandalism. My options were to fight for my business or go bankrupt – I can’t feed my wife and 3 children with thoughts and prayers”.

As Florida residents grew increasingly concerned about the damages Hurricane Matthew promised to deliver, small business owners became even more concerned when several members of the Black Lives Matter movement took to social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter to announce their intentions to loot businesses once the hurricane hit.

According to police and witness reports, the large group of would-be-looters arrived at the Willow Brook shopping center by foot around 10:00 AM and were instantly greeted in the strip mall’s parking-lot by approximately 27-individuals who owned or were employed at the nearby businesses. The two-groups engaged in verbal confrontation that quickly turned violent when three of the looters picked up a concrete trash can and attempted to throw it through the window of Golden Breeze Tanning Salon.

Violence erupted further when a store owner who has since been identified as Bryan Wilkins retrieved a .45 caliber handgun from a concealed holster and began firing rounds into the crowd of looters. According to witnesses, multiple individuals within the group of looters began returning fire. Several of the store-owners were armed and started shooting the looters while taking cover behind nearby vehicles and buildings.

According to police reports, the shootout lasted approximately 4-minutes and resulted in the deaths of 31-individuals; 12 store owners and or store employees and 19 would be looters. Chief of Police Daniel Griffin made the following statement during an afternoon press-conference, “What occurred at the Willow Brook shopping center today was unnecessary and nothing short of a tragedy.

During these difficult and trying times we plead with you to help your neighbors and community members. We urge you to look out for and take care of each other not rob, steal, and shoot at each other. While the effects of Hurricane Matthew are undoubtedly devastating – we are a strong community and we will get through this by working together”.

At the time of this article, no arrests have been made in connection with the Willow Brook shopping center shooting, however, according to reports, the remaining 38-individuals involved in the shooting are being held pending further investigation.

VINTAGE NEWS– A couple of years ago a huge sinkhole opened under the national Corvette museum (interesting read). The maroon-touring sedan with the beautiful curved oval grill in one of the shots is supposed to be a one-off Buick.

The Buick with corvette styling is supposed to be an all-metal car and produced prior to the vette.

My friend has a rare Buick two door with a 425 nail head engine sporting dual quads and a three-speed on the column. Torque monster that has a beautiful sounding idle.

Few of these were produced and I believe were for law enforcement. Beautiful car in immaculate condition.

David was at a marriage seminar, and the leader of the seminar, a lady, was asking everybody how long they have been married.

When it was David’s turn he said that he was married for almost 50 years.

“Wow” the leader gushed “that’s amazing, perhaps you can take a few minutes to share some insights with everybody, how you stay married to the same woman for so long.

“Well,” David said after thinking for a few moments, “I try to treat her nice, buy her presents, take her on trips…………. and best of all, for our 25th anniversary I took her to the Bahamas.”

“Well that’s really beautiful, and a true inspiration for all of us”…“maybe you can tell us what you are going to do for your 50th anniversary” she said with a smile.

“Well” David said “I’m thinking of going back to the Bahamas to pick her up.”

IT’S TIME TO ROLL— I joke to Rogue about the election. What if both candidates were arrested prior to the Vote? Could we end up with an election between Pence and Kaine?

Next week will see an editorial onslaught on Bikernet sites. I’m working on Andrew’s Bike Feature and a feature on the Big Bear Choppers FXR stunt crew.

Ben just posted the AMD World Championship winners from Europe. Rogue posted the article on the Editor’s Choice Bikernet Winner from Sturgis. Udey, the new Bikernet Trike Editor, is working with Willie on a Trike build, and with several members of the industry on features.

We even have new book reviews headed your way from Kevin Thomas, who is working on several cable shows.
