This is wild. A friend in Texas bought a WR and decided to rebuild it, so the hunt for info and parts began.
“I am taking a perfectly fresh, strong and viable race ready WR and tearing it down to put it back the way I want it… “ said Steve Klein, the boss of the Cherokee chapter of the AMCA in Austin. “Then it’s my scoot! You understand the drill!”
“While at Eustis several weeks ago, I was approached by 93-year-old Eddie Boomhower, who went to his first Harley- Davidson Factory School in 1948 and successfully owned his own H-D dealership for his whole life. He also constantly fielded many successful race teams in his career and many Hall of Famers were on his teams. A very sharp, spritely and animated man at this mature age. He said he heard I was putting my ‘48 WR back on the track, and I would need a present he had for me.”
“In essence this binder contains all the factory specs, rations, tolerances and even fuel mixtures for helping WRs stay in the winner’s circle,” Steve said. “What a great morning I had listening to all his stories and viewing his personal race history binder. He was particularly excited about his very recent purchase of a H-D XR 1,200. How many people do you know who still buy race bikes at age 93? Then because he could not sit still longer, he was off and quick as he arrived, walking fast with purpose.”
Steve tried to scan Eddie’s binder in three parts to keep the file sizes down.

“Let me know you do not get it properly,” he said. “This is very cool stuff on early factory racing setups and specs. I felt like sharing so each everyone could have a personal copy on your bookshelf to enjoy or pull out as reference material if needed. God I love this sport!”
We feel the same as Steve and wanted to share this with all our Cantina Members. We included a couple of shots of Bandit’s WLDR
