BIKERNET’S BANDIT-LESS SUNDAY POST

Bandit has been ‘relaxing’ in Berry Creek, Ca for the last few days with the infamous Bob Bitchin, who created Biker News, Biker Magazine, and Tattoo Magazine, and along with his wife Jody, are the driving forces behind Latitudes & Attitudes / Seafaring Magazine.

LATTS N ATTS BANNER

Bandit comes home tonight, so all the peace and quiet I’ve been enjoying will cease. I’ve been decorating the guest bathroom in the Bikernet Barracks while he’s been gone. The walls are metal, the cabinet is metal, he’s got metal objects welded to the walls… it was a very cold, industrial, guy-like room.  I decided to soften it up a little. Added fabric, candles, vanity furniture and some rugs; looks very cute and comfy and relaxing now. I hope Bandit likes it…

I don’t have the stash of sexy lady photos to spice up the Post, so I dug some from the Girl of Bikernet archives. Lorna, Bree and Sarah from John Covington. I hope you enjoy your Sunday Post. Tomorrow will be Bikernet business as usual.  ~Nyla

Larry “Drums” Branccacio’s First Race of the 2011 Season – Orlando Speedworld– Nutley, NJ: Nutley native and local iron worker, Larry “Drums” Brancaccio made his annual pilgramage south to participate in the first event of the All Harley Drag Race Association in conjunction with the Daytona Bike Week Festivities.

Orlando Speedworld hosted the Screamin’ Eagle Top Fuel field in which Drums competes. Although the weather was wonderful for racing a set of batteries held Brancaccio off his pace. He made the quick 8, but it was a late night of wrenching to be ready for Sunday’s very competitive show. Brancaccio made 2 rounds before being defeated by Tommy Grimes of Pfafftown, NC.

Brancaccio will next perform at the Manufacture’s Cup in Valdosta, Ga.

Brancaccio is proudly sponsored by: Capone Landscaping, Starlight Tattoo, Keith’s Custom Seats, World Wide Bearings, Vanson Leathers, Central Metal Fabricators & special thanks to: Barnett Clutches & AutoLite.

Convict Custom Choppers Floorboards–   Attached are pictures of motorcycle floorboards which are common on Dresser or cruiser motorcycles. These are motorcycle floorboards that are actually hidden compartments. They are produced in Utah by a company named Convict Custom Choppers. The company is out of St. George. They are actually housed in a business named Red Hills Rods & Choppers. They sell custom cars and motorcycle, and are located off to the right of the I-15 freeway as you start to drop into St. George. According to the Det. There was a large number of these ordered to hold hand guns. I am sure they are on bikes in Utah, if they are selling the hell out of them in Cincinnati and the company is here.

Their web site is www.convictcustomcycles, I have never heard of this chopper builder. These floorboards could also be used to hold drugs or other contraband. As the weather improves and more motorcycles are out be aware of this item. Officer Lynes has also developed reliable information over the past year that outlaw motorcycle gangs are growing in Utah and influenced by out of state gangs. It is likely that these products will be seen on motorcycles in West Valley soon. A floorboard with a locking mechanism or that appears thicker than normal should be a red flag. If you should see these on a motorcycle you stop please try to get photos and consent or probable cause to look in them.

Controversial Bike Club Says Cops Forcing Them Out– For the first time in years, a controversial motorcycle club isn’t participating in Bike Week. (03/08/11)

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — For the first time in years, a controversial motorcycle club isn’t participating in Bike Week. Police forced the Outlaws out of a building they had rented for the week; it’s the fourth time police have pressured the club to move.

Club members told WFTV it borders on harassment.

The Outlaws, as a rule, don’t grant interviews. They did Tuesday, though, because after being pushed out of neighborhoods they tried to rent a storage building, with a fence around it and no neighbors, and police found a way to move them out, again.

“It’s blatant harassment on the American Outlaw Association. That’s all it is man,” Outlaw member Hillbilly told WFTV.

Hillbilly, who would only give that as his name, said Daytona Beach police have put undeserved pressure on the club, pushing them out of the building they leased for Bike Week, and forcing them to find a house out of the city where members could meet.

“There’s plenty of other motorcycle clubs in this city right now, whether they’re One Percenter clubs, or Jesus freaks, and they’re not being bothered, but we are,” Hillbilly said.

The Outlaws have had trouble finding a home in Daytona Beach since federal agents raided their clubhouse four years ago. Then, police looked for code violations at their new home on South Street and parked a mobile command center at the house on Tanglewood last year.

“If we can keep a step ahead of something happening, we’re going to do it. We’re not going to stop, sit by and just wait for something to happen,” said Dep. Chief Steve Beres, Daytona Beach Police Department.

Police have focused on dropping crime during Bike Week, cutting arrests from more than 500 in 2005, to 419 last year. Outlaws members have been accused of drug and weapons crimes, even murder and a firebombing in Florida in the 90s.

The group acknowledged their past drew police attention everywhere, but said if they’re not causing trouble now and they deserve to be treated like the rest of the crowd.

“You are different than the rest of that crowd,” WFTV reporter Jason Allen told Hillbilly.

“Yeah, but I still, I live in the United States of America, not the USSR,” Hillbilly said.

The Outlaws are still fighting some code fines from old houses in Daytona Beach. Police said the latest location was a problem simply because it isn’t zoned as a place to sleep or hold parties.

ATTENTION!!!! A.B.A.T.E. OF GEORGIA PRESS RELEASE!!!!!!!!!!!PROTEST RIDE OVER MOTORCYCLE ONLY ROADBLOCKS– American Bikers Active Toward Education

A.B.A.T.E. of Georgia will ride to the Capital to protest the Motorcycle Safety Stops on March 23rd with arrival scheduled for 11:30 AM and Departure at 1:30 PM.
We welcome all riders in the State of Georgia to join us in this Protest ride. We will provide information on gathering points around the City of Atlanta, as soon as plans are firm, so we may arrive in force and shake the wall and rattle the windows as our anger flows through our pipes.
We are in the process of obtaining a permit that will allow us to assemble and park in the streets around the Capital Building and we are asking Government Officials to join us in denouncing these Discriminatory “Safety” stops.
We as Motorcyclist should not be singled out and harassed by law enforcement just because of what we ride. Our 4th amendment rights are being violated. The ABUSE OF POWER by the State of Georgia in these actions MUST STOP. It is time for our collective voices to rise up in protest and to request the Governor of Georgia to stop any further infringements on our rights.
The safety stops are being presented as a way to help save lives on our highways yet no data exists to show that this is in any effective. This time and money should be spent on educating the motoring public to be alert and aware of motorcycle traffic. The vast majority of all motorcycle accidents are cause by automobiles and not due to safety issues with our bikes.
Please forward this information on to your local media and to any interested parties. Call your representatives in Atlanta and ask them to support us in putting an end to Discrimination toward those of us who ride Motorcycles.
More information will follow as we get closer to the event. If you wish to speak on the 23rd contact Linda Allen at Legislative.director@abatega.org

SAFETY TIPS FROM BIKERNET’S INSURANCE GURU– Springtime is just around the corner in most parts of the country and thoughts of riding in the wind are beginning to make their way to your brain.  The lucky among you started off your riding season early by attending Daytona Bike Week. Great way to get into the riding mindset. The unlucky continued to shovel snow packs.

Before you hit the road after a long winter, give your bike the once-over.

1. Double-check your lights, brakes, and turn signals.

2. Check oil and fuel levels.

3. Position your mirrors to see properly behind you.

4. Check your cables for wear and tear.

5. Check your leathers and boots. Do they still fit after a winter of piggin’ out?

6. How about your gloves? Good shape?

7. Check your helmet for wear and tear. Does your face shield need replacement?

8. Double-check your tires. Do they need to be replaced or simply refilled?

9. Consider taking a rider course that matches your experience and skills.

10. Start your first ride of the season easy. Speed up as you get your riding legs back.

The Bottom Line:

There’s a lot you can do to keep yourself safe while riding that beautiful machine of yours. Know your riding limits and your bike’s limits. Don’t tailgate. Use your signals. Brake smart. Best of all, make sure other drivers see you.

Ride Safe Out There. We Care About You.
