She's not exactly a biker chick. But she doesn't mind being called a motorcycle mama.
Even in her 60s, too, it appears that nothing is putting the brakes on Dr. Pat Hunter, the guru of all things Harley and Honda on the campus of Virginia Highlands Community College in Abingdon, Va.
"If you call Virginia Highlands and mention motorcycles, the switchboard will automatically put you to my extension," said Hunter, the retired director of the college's library and instructional ser-vices.
Hunter worked in the college library from 1972 to 2006. Today, she's an adjunct college instructor, teaching a motorcycle riding and safety course.
She's also been riding motorcycles for three decades.
“Freedom of the road is just unparalleled with riding a motorcycle,” Hunter said. “You’re just part of what’s happening out there. You get to see more.”
