fuck winter

Hey, You’re gonna get a kick outta this one. It contains some connections, news, event stuff, girls and a political thoughts. But first, we thought we were building fast motorcycles, but this was recently published in TIME magazine. A Swedish engineering firm, Sweco, calculated that assuming Santa visits 2.5 billion homes every Christmas, he has 34 micro seconds per household to get in and out: that’s about a tenth of the time it takes for a housefly to flap his wings once. To make the run in 48 hours, Santa’s supercharged raindeer must travel at a speed of 3,604 miles per second. Imagine the dyno runs and tuning.

Let’s hit the news then I’ll tell you a story about Winston Churchill in 1938 and how the pacifist public almost lost Europe to the Nazis. It may point out something the general media hasn’t covered or supported regarding Iraq.

A BIKERNET READER VOTES FOR GREEN BIKES– I was checking out Bikernet today, and Damm I never saw green look so nice. I don’t know which one I like more, the bike or the chick. I think the chick because she has more green on. I wonder if she would let us flake her?

Hey, just got some new stuff from the guy in the alley, copper colored flake, badass stuff. I don’t know if I can find it in myself to give some of it to anybody. I need it all for myself. All the flake should belong to me LOL. I think I have been in too long. I must go now and find a dancer chick that will let me flake her. Copper Colored Baby! Sure it will come right off LOL.

3RD ANNUAL DONNIE SMITH BIKE SHOW & SWAP MEET– When one thinks of a bike show one thinks of the Rochester Donnie Smith Bike Show.

Sunday February 17- 2008 from 10:00am – 5:00pm at the Mayo Civic Center in downtown Rochester. This third year looks to be a sell-out. The show is slated to be filled with custom motorcycles, anitiques and modifed stock machines — coming in from the five state area.

crowd

Donnie Smith now has more than 35 years of custom bike building experience and his eye for clean and functional cycles has made his name known world wide. Plus, Donnie grew up in Minnesota, so the Rochester show is very important to him.

Don’t miss this years bike show, it promises to be the best yet.

METZLER ROUND TABLE REPORT FROM CINCY– The Metzler round table that gathered together figures like Eddie Trotta, Paul Cox, Brett Smith, Paul Jr. From Turtles and the heads of Metzler and Kurakyn, discussed the topic of where the industry is going in a type of open forum. This years discussion was aimed at the changes and the lower price point of the average bike sold. They keyed on Next Generation and the stock modification movement.

At the same time Paul Cox announced the launch of what the are calling the Custom Builders Association. CBA. This organization will serve as a sort of SAE like the automotive industry has. They will keep a list of accredited builders and shops and develop an accreditation program aimed towards keeping the standard of quality in the custom part of the industry higher. They feel that having a standard could install a level of confidence in the consumer base and help with some of the shrinking sales from aftermarket and custom manufacturers.

There are several pros and cons but I applauded their efforts as this would give, if done correctly, the aftermarket a system like Harley has wit their PHD certification.

EUROPEAN CAMPAIGN FOR SYNTHETIC OIL USE IN MOTORCYCLES– November 20, 2007 – The MotorCycle Community in Europe (MCC ) has launched a European-wide awareness campaign promoting the use of synthetic oil for Powered Two Wheelers. This campaign is supported by the European Commission.

It is generally recognized that the type of lubricant oil has a direct and immediate impact on the emissions of Particulate Matters. Synthetic oil ensures a good environmental performance and correct and long-lasting effectiveness for new technology Euro2 and Euro3 vehicles.

However, a large number of two-stroke “conventional” pre-Euro1 Powered Two Wheelers in use could contribute to Particulate Matters reduction up to 50% by using synthetic oil.

Amsoillogo

The objective of the campaign is to inform the owners of these vehicles as to the advantages of synthetic oil, which will contribute to a better and cleaner environment. The campaign is also intended to safeguard the mobility of two-stroke engine users in congested city centers, where “conventional” pre-Euro1 vehicles are increasingly faced with issues related to air quality.

The MCC also wishes to increase the awareness of the urban mobility advantages of motorcycles and scooters in comparison with cars. The MCC calls on the authorities to make use of environmental fiscal incentives to stimulate the renewal of the fleet.

The message, reflected by the logo and slogan devised for the campaign, “Be smarter, be cleaner, use synthetic oil!!”, is positive and environmentally friendly. It intends to reach, through the internet, users, dealers, retailers and the press in order to maximize the efficiency of the campaign.

All material related to the campaign can be found in different European languages and downloaded from a dedicated website www.usesyntheticoil.info.

WE CAN CUT GAS PRICES– IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN AUSTRALIA DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF PETROL FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.

THEREFORE FRIDAY FEBRUARY 22nd HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED ‘STICK IT UP THEIR ASS DAY’ AND THEPEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF PETROL THAT DAY. THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES ? IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

THE PRICES JUST KEEP GOING UP AND WE NEED TO STOP IT.

PETROL PRICES ARE CAUSING OTHER EFFECTS; AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, AS ARE TRUCKING COMPANIES . THIS INCREASES PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING SUPPLIES MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO! WE CAN

MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON’T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY,WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN. SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE FEBRUARY 22nd THE DAY CITIZENS OF AUSTRALIA SAY ‘ENOUGH IS ENOUGH’

As long as the demand is high, gas prices will continue to rise and the companies will make more money. Demand is just that. If we didn’t drive as much, the demand would drop, simple.

CANADIAN MC HAPPENINGS FROM THE BCCOM– On Thursday, January 24, 2008, the Motorcycle & Moped Industry Council (MMIC) and the Canadian National Sportsmen’s Shows (CNSS) generously presented BCCOM with a $15,000.00 grant at the Vancouver Motorcycle Show. An enormous thanks goes to both of these organizations for their generous support of our efforts. This funding will be well used this spring to fund a motorcycle awareness campaign throughout BC. It is our goal to make drivers pay more attention to motorcyclists and learn how to share the road safely. More information on the MMIC can be found at www.mmic.ca and more information on the CNSS and their shows can be found at this link: www.sportshows.ca. A photo of the presentation can be found on our website at www.bccom-bc.com

BCCOM’S INVOLVEMENT WITH THE MOTORCYCLISTS CONFEDERATION OF CANADA (MCC)

It is with regret that I inform the membership of BCCOM that we are no longer an affiliate member of the Motorcyclists Confederation of Canada (MCC) due to proposed membership fees that BCCOM can not afford without it becoming a burden on the membership and hampering our work in the province of B.C.

Many affiliates of MCC are clubs as opposed to lobbying groups, which means BCCOM incurs costs such as wages, office expenses (i.e.phone lines, fax lines, heat, and electrical), printing, travel, website, insurance, promotion, etc. I will continue to still sit on the board of directors and offer input and gather knowledge of what is happening federally. It has been the opinion of many members of BCCOM that the MCC should be financed by Industry as it has been in the past. If you are in a club that receives insurance through the MCC please contact the office at (604) 580-0111 or 1-877-580-0111.
