Hey,
This news is action-packed and the Bikernet Headquarters are action central. We are still grappling with the city, filling out another form for consideration by the high command. An attorney told me today, “It’s common for them to target an area of interest and start with real or imagined code violations. It’s likely the city’s goal is to get you to sell your property.”
We are also scrambling to ship our Salt Torpedo to the Paughco Headquarters in Carson City, Nevada. “Elvis just left the building,” Kent Weeks of Lucky Devil Metal Works reports as the truck departed his Magnolia, Texas location. A friend recommended having the parts shipped here, and then I will pack them in the Bikernet van and peel north to Paughco. They should arrive by Saturday.
I’m in the process of wrapping up the second Chance Hogan book, and we’re damn close. And we are completely revamping the Bikernet web experience. Do you think we have enough going on?
The Bikernet Weekly News is sponsored in part by Cycle Source, Iron Trader, and Choppertown. Thanks guys…
HARLEY-DAVIDSON LEADS CONVOY OF FIRST RESPONDERS AND MILITARY PERSONNEL AROUND DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY–
Riders Take to the Track to Inspire all Heroes to Learn to Ride For Free; Celebrate the 75th Daytona Bike Week
At a venue known for speed – Daytona International Speedway – Harley-Davidson took a moment to slow down and say “thank you,” inviting a group of military personnel and first responders to take an unforgettable ride around the “World Center of Racing” during the 75th Annual Daytona Bike Week.
Now through the end of 2016, all current and former U.S. military, and first responders, including law enforcement officers, firefighters and EMS professionals* are invited to learn to ride for free through Harley-Davidson’s Riding Academy program.
More information is available at a Harley-Davidson dealer or going to http://www.h-d.com/AmericanHeroes. If Riding Academy is not available in a particular area, qualified participants can still earn a Harley-Davidson Gift Card for the same amount of the enrollment fee for a qualified third-party motorcycle riding course.
“Our offer of free motorcycle training for all U.S. Military and First Responders is all about expressing our appreciation for their service, so they can enjoy more of the freedom they work so hard to protect,” said Dino Bernacchi, Harley-Davidson U.S. Marketing Director. “We’re honored all of these riders joined us today. What a great way to celebrate 75 years at Daytona Bike Week, kick-off riding season, and salute those who help protect everyone’s personal freedom.”
Escorted by police motorcycles and led by Karen Davidson, great-granddaughter of the company co-founder, the group took an honorary lap around the recently remodeled Speedway track.
After the ride, Harley-Davidson also premiered “Comeback Chapter,” featuring Bradley Sims, a police detective and former Army Reserve Solider and new Harley-Davidson rider. The video features Bradley’s story, and showcases the positive benefits of riding. Check-out the video at http://bit.ly/ComebackChapter.
Guests also were invited to throw a leg over Harley’s 2016 lineup – the most powerful collection of cruisers in the brand’s 113-year history. Harley’s newest bikes – the CVO Pro Street Breakout and the Low Rider S – and the Road Glide Ultra, with its clean sheet design, are ready to demo ride for those itching to roll the throttle of a brand-new bike.

The QUAIL MOTORCYCLE GATHERING to Honor Reg Pridmore as Legend of the Sport– The Quail Motorcycle Gathering will honor three-time AMA Superbike National Champion Reg Pridmore as its “Legend of the Sport.”
Each year The Quail Motorcycle Gathering recognizes a “Legend of the Sport” for their achievements in racing and contributions to the sport of motorcycling. The May 14th event will also be celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Superbike, along with the 40th Anniversary of Pridmore’s first title.
Pridmore aboard his Butler & Smith BMW R90S at Laguna Seca Raceway in 1976, his first AMA Superbike National victory.
“When it came time to select this year’s Legend of the Sport there wasn’t any debate; Reg was the clear choice,” said Quail Director of Motorsports, Gordon McCall. “Here is a man who risked everything to pursue his American Dream, and in doing so became a three-time AMA champion and Hall of Famer. We are proud to present Reg Pridmore as our Legend of the Sport for 2016.”
Reg Pridmore cut his teeth on his native English circuits, winning his first race at Silverstone in 1961. Pridmore followed his dream and immigrated to the United States soon after, eventually settling on the west coast in the seaside town of Santa Barbara, CA. The future AMA champ began racing the Southern California tracks and by the time the AMA added the Superbike class to the National Championship lineup in 1976, Pridmore had built a wealth of experience on such machines.
On August 1, 1976, Reg Pridmore won his first AMA Superbike National at Laguna Seca Raceway, just a few miles up the road from Quail Lodge & Golf Club. He went on to claim the 1976 Superbike title, and defended his title in 1977 and 1978. Reg was known as the mark of consistency on the track, rarely finishing outside the top five in any given race. Throughout his run of three consecutive AMA Superbike titles, it was his consistent podium finishes that catapulted him to the top.
Pridmore at Sears Point in 1978 aboard his Vetter Kawasaki KZ1000.
Pridmore retired from professional racing following the 1979 season and went on to found CLASS, one of the top motorcycle riding schools in the country. He also authored the highly acclaimed Smooth Riding the Pridmore Way, which details Pridmore’s riding techniques and philosophy.
“I am deeply honored and very proud to be recognized at The Quail Motorcycle Gathering for my racing accomplishments alongside some of my all-time racing heroes,” Pridmore said. “Many thanks to Gordon McCall and the Quail for this honor.”

BRAND NEW AMA FLAT TRACK SCHEDULE– AMA Pro Racing announced today the finalization of the 2016 AMA Pro Flat Track schedule and confirmed that Central New York Raceway Park (CNYRP), the ground-breaking facility in central New York, will host Round 12 of the series on Saturday, August 20.
The debut event at the all-new facility will feature both the Harley-Davidson GNC1 presented by Vance & Hines and GNC2 classes in action and completes the 2016 AMA Pro Flat Track 14 round schedule.
The innovative new circuit in Central Square, N.Y, which is located just North of Syracuse in Oswego County, will have a state-of-the-art racing surface comprised of a substance called “SYNDI,” which is a synthetic wax additive that has been combined with clay in order to create a dustless surface to benefit racers and fans alike. This unique application has been designed to save time on race day preparation and will also greatly diminish the length of weather delays with a quicker drying time.
“Bringing Pro Flat Track back to upstate New York is a great opportunity for our sport,” said Michael Lock, CEO of AMA Pro Racing. “We are grateful for the support of our loyal fans in the Northeast and eastern Canada and we are excited to be able to test and debut the new racing surface at CNYRP’s impressive new facility.”
Glenn Donnelly, President of CNYRP, expressed his excitement of the newly established relationship with AMA Pro Racing and the innovative surface of the venue’s flat track.
“The AMA Pro Flat Track series has a long history in Central New York,” Donnelly said. “Now, with the demolition of the Syracuse Mile track, we are glad that we could work on bringing AMA Pro to our brand new facility. We look to build on the tradition and make the event a success for years to come.”
A test at CNYRP on a to-be-announced date in July will provide riders and teams with their first chance to try out the new surface while building some pre-event excitement for the following month’s race.
“We are pleased with the results from SYNDI,” Donnelly said. “With just about 50% application, we created a better track for competition. We will continue to develop the product and believe that when it is fully applied at CNYRP, we will have a dynamite surface for the AMA Pro Flat Track competitors and spectators.”

Travis Pastrana Weighs In on the LUCAS OIL JuniorMotoX– Words from the former MX/SX Champion and Action Sports Icon
Travis Pastrana is probably better known today as the Nitro Circus Ringleader, Action Sports Icon and multi-time X Games Gold medal winner. But before that, he was a dominant force on the amateur motocross scene and won the 2000 AMA 125 Motocross and 2001 125 East Supercross championships. So he knows what it is like to travel around the country to compete in the best amateur motocross events to hone the skills necessary to become a champion. So it was flattering to hear Pastrana’s feedback on the JuniorMotoX concept.
“Supercross has always been my favorite form of racing. More technical courses, more intense racing and everything you do on the course can be seen from everyone in the stands. This makes it a big challenge when riders turn pro.” Pastrana said. “I really like how much riding time JuniorMotoX will give to the riders and think it’s a huge and much needed stepping stone to have an event like this before moving into the pro ranks. Wish they had this when I was an amateur.”
Travis Pastrana traveled the country with his family to compete in the top amateur motocross events when he was growing up and went on to become an AMA 125 Motocross and 125 Supercross Champion.

The Lucas Oil JuniorMotoX will bring amateur racing to a new level with a Supercross style course that is nearly 2,000 feet long featuring some of the best dirt on earth.
Jerry Masterpool will provide input on track design, which will include a separate lane featuring more challenging obstacles for the more experienced riders/classes. The event will also feature a live webcast of the Friday qualifiers and Saturday night main events, plus a feature show on MAVTV.

BULLSHIT LAW OF THE WEEK– Just read that a lot of states are going to implement an 11:00 – 6:00am motorcycle curfew. Read it on AssociatedMediaCoverage.com Any truth in this?
Origin:,On 7 March 2016, the somewhat official-sounding web site Associated Media Coverage published an article that reported:
11 states working in conjunction with the U.S Department of Transportation (U.D.O.T) have agreed to implement an ordinance requiring motorcyclists to adhere to a mandatory curfew between the hours of 11:00 PM – 6:00 AM.
Representatives from the 11 states that have agreed to the ordinance (South Dakota, Florida, Washington, Arkansas, California, New Hampshire, Indiana, Nevada, South Carolina, Utah, & Kentucky), have said that their states will be implementing the ordinance as soon as early April 2016 and expect all motorcyclists to be in compliance immediately upon implementation. All states have agreed to implement the ordinance by July 3rd 2016.
Unlike many web sites that publish “satirical” items (also known as fake news), Associated Media Coverage featured no disclaimer warning readers that its content was not to be taken seriously. Each page displayed an “About Us” link at the bottom, which was not operational.
Associated Media Coverage appeared to feature just four articles, and didn’t come into existence until 18 February 2016. A sweeping, multi-state curfew initiated by the U.S. Department of Transportation would certainly make news across more than just one web site, and no individuals named “Donald McCarthy” were listed among DOT representatives.
IT’S BULLSHIT!

KENTUCKY MOTORCYCLE ASSOCIATION LEGISLATIVE UPDATES– AUTO CYCLE Legislative Alert
Need to call Frankfort NOW at 1-800-372-7181.
SB 126 – CALL to SUPPORT
This is our Autocycle Bill, which helps to define what an autocycle is and how it is treated under the law and reporting requirements differently than traditional motorcycles.
This bill has already passed the KY Senate and is waiting to be heard in the House. Please call your HOUSE member and ask that they “Please support SB 126.” If you want to leave an extra message for Rep. Hubert Collins who is the head of the transportation committee and ask that he please put the bill on the committee’s agenda.

SB 245 – CALL to OPPOSE
SB 245 is a very complex bill dealing with REAL ID that does a couple of very disturbing things. First, as it relates directly to motorcycles it extends the time period a person can hold a learners permit from a total of 2 years before they have to take a rider ed course to get their license to 3 years.
The KMA (Kentucky Motorcycle Association) pushed for the change from an unlimited amount of time to the 2 year time period a few years ago. Since then the number of motorcycle deaths in the state has dropped significantly from over 100 per year to the mid 70s the past couple of years. So at the very least we need to get that part of the bill changed.
The scarier part of this bill however is what deals with the REAL ID portion. This is in no uncertain terms a national ID system, which will allow the federal government to track you much easier than it already does. The new IDs will digitize all of your personal and biometric information to be stored in a shared database with the federal government.
In order to get the new-style driver’s license, you show up with various personal documents, such as your birth certificate, social security card, etc. These documents will be scanned into this database as well and stored permanently. So, with all of this information now stored in an online database it is available to all law enforcement, at all levels helping to bring the full spectrum of Big Brother (read the novel 1984) to fruition.
This means being able to perform facial recognition scans, links to bank accounts, and other types of transactions. For now they are saying you will be required to have it to board a plane. Next it will be to get on a train or boat. Will the same be required to pass through a toll booth?
Social Security was never intended to a used for identification purposes, yet nearly every institution requires it to do business with them. This is very invasive to say the least. Now if that wasn’t scary enough, all of that information will be housed in one place where hackers and others can get our information and face identity theft. Think it can’t happen then ask a federal employee or military personnel who just had all of their information hacked into recently and stolen.
Here is a link to a good article on REAL ID explaining this in full detail:
http://bluegrassconservative.com/2016/03/01/2784/
After testimony in the Senate Transportation Committee today on March 2nd the KYDOT talked about how this will work. Some of the highlights included your license being mailed from a central processing facility, opening up the possibility of identity theft through the mail.
The fees for the new license would also increase by $10 from the current license. They also said you would have an option to get out of the REAL ID program, but that is not really the case since all of your information is still being stored in the same databases. Also all new drivers and people entering the state will be required to take the REAL ID whether they want to or not. Thus eventually all people will be under this system.
The bill is due to be voted on next week in the Senate Transportation committee, which is at 9:00am on March 9th. Please make the phone calls NOW at 800-372-7181. Here is a link to the members of the committee and their contact information if you wish to also send them an email.

HB 191 – Call to Oppose
The House Version of the DNA collection bill, HB 191 was heard in committee on March 2nd and passed. We need to stop these bills as matter of our true security from our government and its intrusions. Justice Scalia as you will see was against this kinds of action, we should honor his legacy by trying to prevent what he did not want from happening. The quote is from his dissenting opinion in a case that didn’t even take the collection as far as this bill wants to go.
Sponsor(s): Senators: J. Adams, D. Carroll, R. Alvarado, T. Buford, D. Harper Angel, A. Kerr, M. McGarvey, R. Thomas, W. Westerfield
Representatives: R. Meeks, R. Benvenuti III, M. Marzian, S. Westrom
Status: 2 Bills – SB 150 is still in committee,
HB 191 – going to the House Floor
Committee: Senate Judiciary, House Judiciary
Timeframe: NOW
Message is for: Your Senator, Your Representative, All Senate Leadership, All House Leadership, Members of the Senate and House Judiciary Committees
Message: “Oppose SB 150, Oppose SB 191, and Oppose DNA Collection upon Arrest.
Optional: E-mail the legislators on the committee. Example e-mail address:Firstname.Lastname@lrc.ky.gov . If that doesn’t work they have a contact page on their informational page.
Information: This is quite a complex subject matter but we suggest you go to our Bill Mark Up of the 2014 version as well as this list of 16 Reasons to be against DNA Collection upon arrest. Cops are not lawyers, they like to throw as many charges as they can in order to get something to stick. Finally we will leave you with this quote from Justice Scalia.
“The Court repeatedly says that DNA testing, and entry into a national DNA registry, will not befall thee and me, dear reader, but only those arrested for “serious offense[s].” I cannot imagine what principle could possibly justify this limitation, and the Court does not attempt to suggest any. If one believes that DNA will “identify” someone arrested for assault, he must believe that it will “identify” someone arrested for a traffic offense. Today’s judgment will, to be sure, have the beneficial effect of solving more crimes; then again, so would the taking of DNA samples from anyone who flies on an airplane (surely the Transportation Security Administration needs to know the “identity” of the flying public), applies for a driver’s license, or attends a public school. Perhaps the construction of such a genetic panopticon is wise. But I doubt that the proud men who wrote the charter of our liberties would have been so eager to open their mouths for royal inspection.”

BIKE WEEK FILLS UP DAYTONA, SPILLS INTO ORLANDO AND BEYOND– The roar of engines echoed through Main Street at Daytona Beach’s 75th Bike Week on Friday.
Leather-clad revelers whooped and hollered while onlookers admired the custom bikes, belly-busters and bandannas.
When Bike Week first started in 1937, it was confined to Daytona Beach. These days Bike Week events can be found spreading out across the state.
“It has truly grown right along the I-4 corridor,” said Sal Crivello, director of operations at Seminole Harley-Davidson. “It has become somewhat of a family event. People are staying longer … so they’ll experience the fun of Daytona but at some point they say ‘Hey, we’re here in Florida, we’re on our motorcycles. Let’s ride.'”
According to Statistica, Florida had 558,123 registered motorcyclists in 2014. Florida was second to California, coming in at 813,771. Crivello said motorcycles are a seasonal hobby in northern states because of winter weather and the hazards that come with it, which helps Bike Week’s turnout.
Shawn Abbatessa, the director of market development for the Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, said it was estimated that 500,000 people attended Bike Week in 2013.
Ken Martin, a graphic designer at Seminole Harley-Davidson, said the biker lifestyle of brotherhood is what draws such large crowds, comparing the event to Mardi Gras on two wheels. Regardless of what you ride, from bicycles to Vespas to personalized motorcycles, Bike Week welcomes everyone.
“We have so many great historic back roads and historic little towns that riding through canopied-trees with the sun beaming down is kind of like soaring,” Martin said.
Much like a parade, Crivello said, it’s important for bikers to ride down Main Street in Daytona at least once, even if it’s only at 2 mph.
Daytona Beach is about 51 miles from Orlando, making it a short trip to the local Orlando Harley-Davidson where Bike Week events were also in full swing. Attendees had come from as far as Switzerland.
“We’ll see riders from across the globe coming into Orlando Harley during bike week,” said Jennifer Armstrong, the events manager at Orlando Harley-Davidson. “Probably about 15,000 in just nine days.”
Lori Campbell Baker, the director of public relations for the Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, said the spread of Bike Week’s footprint has reached all over the state, even as far as Key West.
“Bikers love to ride,” she said. “They don’t mind getting on the highway and driving. Everybody [celebrates] it.”
The 132 miles that make up I-4 can be traveled in just a couple of hours. Anne Deli, owner of Orlando Harley-Davidson, said it’s not atypical for a biker to go out for four- or five-hour rides during the day – and that it only takes about four hours to get across the entire state. To Deli, the natural mobility of motorcyclists and the adventurous attitude of out-of-state visitors is why Bike Week is spreading.
Orlando resident and Bike Week attendee Bob Kent said he began noticing the event’s expansion start to take off about 20 years ago.
“Daytona just got to be so expensive,” he said. “The outer fringes, up north a little bit, then out west – the other communities just said ‘Come see us’. You see how it’s spread out? I mean, 20 years ago Orlando Harley wouldn’t be doing this and have anybody show up.”

THE ISIS REPORT– A terrorist group’s plot to create a radioactive ‘dirty bomb’
ISIS was looking for nuclear materials, and Belgium was a smart place to hunt
A small video camera stashed in a row of bushes silently recorded the comings and goings of the family of a Brussels-area man with an important scientific pedigree last year, producing a detailed chronology of the family’s movements. At one point, two men came under cover of darkness to retrieve the camera, before driving away with their headlamps off, a separate surveillance camera in the area revealed later.
The Belgian police discovered the secret film on Nov. 30 while searching the Auvelais home of a man with ties to the Islamic State terror group. But they became far more alarmed when they figured out that its star was a senior researcher at a Belgian nuclear center that produces a significant portion of the world’s supply of radioisotopes.
That realization quickly got the attention of the world’s counterterrorism experts.
A diagnostic tool used by hospitals and factories around the globe, radioisotopes are also capable of causing radiation poisoning and sickness, making them a potential target for terrorists seeking to build a so-called “dirty” bomb that could contaminate the downtown area of a major city, sowing panic and causing billions of dollars in financial losses.
Belgian authorities have since speculated that the group was trying to figure out a way to collect such materials from the nuclear center, perhaps by kidnapping the man or one of his family members as the first step in building a bomb.
But until now, there has been no public, concrete evidence that a particular terrorist organization is aggressively pursuing the radioactive building blocks of a dirty bomb. Experts have noted that such materials are too plentiful to count precisely, but roughly estimate they are contained in more than 70,000 devices, located in at least 13,000 buildings all over the world – in many cases without special security safeguards.
Mohamed Bakkali, who rented the home where the films were seized in a raid, was captured on Nov. 26 and has been charged with engaging in terrorist activity and murder stemming from his alleged involvement in the complex Nov. 13, 2015, siege in Paris that killed 130 people and wounded hundreds more.
Belgian regulators said they are still investigating exactly what Bakkali and his colleagues had in mind, but the options are unsettling. “We can imagine that the terrorists might want to kidnap someone or kidnap his family,” so they can force their target to turn over the radioactive innards of such a device after removing the materials surreptitiously, said Nele Scheerlinck, a spokeswoman for Belgium’s Federal Agency for Nuclear Control, the nation’s nuclear regulator.

CIRQUE DU SOLEIL REACHES OUT OF THE BOX– Getting into the swing
Cirque du Soleil is mixing it up and making waves! Always thinking outside the box, Cirque du Soleil rounded up some of the best professional half-pipe skiers and hit the lake to see what they can bring to the Russian swing.
The results will have you going off the deep end!
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY– International Women’s Day today, did you know that? The theme of this year’s day is “pledge for parity,” that is doing what we can to create social and economic gender equality. Statistics indicate that won’t be reached until the year 2133!
At Women Riders Now we celebrate women every day, and since 2006 I’ve been spotlighting the female side of the motorcycle industry, not because my goal is parity with men, but rather to offer women riders the opportunity to see the sport of motorcycling from the female point of view.
Ten years ago when I started Women Riders Now I saw a void in the way information was being presented. Magazine articles didn’t speak to me or my needs. Being a professional journalist I set out to create what I wanted to see—news, reviews, and information about motorcycling that I care about. It seems I wasn’t alone in what I wanted as WomenRidersNow.com has served millions of motorcyclists in the decade it’s been in existence.
So Happy International Women’s Day my friends. For me, this is a day to continue celebrating what we always do at WRN: women riders, and the men who ride with them.

BIKERNET INTERNATIONAL EDITOR HIDING AT PENANG BIKE SHOW– Big show, I expected it to be much smaller.
Actually about an hour north of Georgetown which is the main city of Penang.
I am actually back in Chon Buri now on Monday. Heading back to Long Beach on the 17th.
Only a partial view of venue (above). Early on as the crowd comes later when it gets not so hot. Can’t say cool as that rarely happens here.
On the road with the Jokers MC. – Motorcycle Club. Good bunch of guys who party without drinking alcohol being Muslim.
The first bike in line is the one I road. 2012 street glide most like mine so I felt comfortable. The ride is on the other side of road here as he British set it up. A bit dicey at times as traffic is a bit unpredictable. The highway is great though. 2-3 lanes wide. Well maintained.
The owner who let me use his bike. I actually had my choice of a few but chose what I knew.
This is lamb and chicken as the people are of the Muslim faith. Unlike my first thought of it being pig as in Thailand.
Being an infidel in a sea of Muslims seemed to poise no problem as I was greeted an invited to join in by all. Eddie has made me known to many through his red garage news.

FIX MEDICINE– Yet another whistleblower alleges Medicare Advantage fraud
Insurance giant Humana Inc., which operates some of the nation’s largest private Medicare health plans, knew for years of billing fraud at some South Florida clinics, but did little to curb the practice even though it could harm patients, a doctor alleges in a newly unsealed whistleblower lawsuit.
The suit was filed by South Florida physician Mario M. Baez. It accuses Humana, and his former business partner, Dr. Isaac K. Thompson, of engaging in a lucrative billing fraud scheme that lasted years. The suit also names three other Palm Beach County doctors, two medical clinics and a doctors’ practice group as defendants. The suit was filed in October 2012, but remained under a federal court seal until Feb. 26.
Humana had no comment. “As a matter of long-standing company policy, Humana does not comment on pending litigation,” said company spokesman Tom Noland.
Thompson, a Delray Beach doctor, was indicted early last year on health care fraud charges stemming from similar allegations. He had pleaded not guilty, but last week indicated he would change his plea, and was to appear in federal court in Fort Lauderdale today, according to court records.
The Baez case is likely to bring fresh scrutiny to the giant Louisville, Kentucky-based insurer, which treats more than 3 million elderly patients in its Medicare Advantage plans nationwide. The case could also spotlight costly flaws in the government’s complex and controversial method for paying private Medicare health plans.
Federal officials have struggled for years to stamp out these overcharges, known in health care circles as “upcoding,” while at least a half-dozen whistleblowers have filed lawsuits accusing Medicare Advantage plans of ripping off the government.
Baez’s case adds a new wrinkle because it alleges that inflating risks scores not only wastes taxpayer dollars, but can also cause a patient to be harmed by improper medical treatment.
In Thompson’s case, Humana paid 80 percent of the money it received to the doctor and retained the rest. Prosecutors charged that fraudulent diagnoses submitted by Thompson between January 2006 and June 2013 generated overpayments of $4.8 million.
Others with minor depression were said to have bipolar disorder, which paid the health plan a higher rate. According to the complaint, Humana officials agreed to fully correct the overages, but later “reneged” on the promise to do so and failed to correct the record with Medicare, according to Baez. The health plans are required to attest to the accuracy of any diagnoses submitted to the government.
The other doctors named as defendants in the Baez suit are Dennis Salazar, Arnaldo Mora and Daniela Mayer. All formerly worked for Thompson. The suit also named MCCI Group Holdings, a medical practice group. None of the doctors could be reached for comment. MCCI Group had no comment.
Humana has previously acknowledged it has been the target of investigations into its billing practices, including some involving whistleblowers. So has another large Medicare Advantage plan operated by UnitedHealth Group. Last month, UnitedHealth said it was cooperating with a Department of Justice review of its billing practices, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
Court filings unsealed in the Baez case confirm that the company faces several similar whistleblower suits, including at least one that remains under court seal. The court records also suggest that the criminal fraud investigation that snared Thompson is not over.

The 30-Daddy by Ridewright Wheels Cleans the Crowdedness– The wheelwrights at Ridewright Wheels have detected patterns of customers wanting to have a little more air and light show through a fat spoke wheel. “Some tastes and styles wanted a leaner, cleaner look” reports Sam Wakim, owner/founder of Ridewright Wheels.
Given that everything needed to make a solid wheel is in house at the shop, the call was simply answered and prototypes were built, tested and proven. The design is now released to the market.
Ridewright introduces the 30-Daddy – a light version of the original Fat Daddy 50-spoke design that took the industry by storm years back. All the same options found in a Fat Daddy remained such as:
Colors
Spoke styles
Brake configuration
ABS
H-D/Indian/Victory fitment
One-off custom special project treatments
Tubeless or tube, with or without seal
…but a slightly lower cost is enjoyed by the customer due to less materials and labor needed for a wheelwright to hand-build the wheel.
30-Daddy’s can be bought online with standard, popular color options and other setup options at RidewrightWheels.com/collections/new-30-spoke-30-daddy-wheels.

JIMS TOOL OF THE WEEK– No. 989 Cruise Drive Pulley Nut Socket Tool
To remove or install the final drive pulley nut on Harley-Davidson Cruise Drive 6-speed transmissions, a deep socket tool is necessary to clear the transmission mainshaft.
The Cruise Drive nut is larger than previous 5-speeds and is right hand thread, so JIMS modeled this tool after our proven No. 94660-37A five speed tool.
JIMS manufactures a special ½” drive deep socket to turn the pulley nut while clearing the mainshaft. This special tool features an inner support collar that threads onto the mainshaft to maintain alignment with the pulley nut.
JIMS No. 989 is made in the USA, includes JIMS lifetime tool warranty and has a MSRP of $189.70.
Use on 2006 Dyna and all 2007-present Twin Cam with factory Cruise Drive 6-speed transmisson.
WILL THIS EFFECT THE CALIFORNIA AIR RESOURCES BOARD?– Southern California’s air quality board moved forcefully to weaken pollution regulation Friday, firing the agency’s longtime leader and reaffirming new smog rules backed by oil refineries and other major polluters.
The South Coast Air Quality Management District board dismissed Barry Wallerstein in a 7-6 vote during a closed-door session, a month after Republicans took control of the panel vowing a friendlier approach to industry.
Wallerstein, 62, was appointed executive officer in 1997 and presided over the agency charged with protecting the health of 17 million people in the nation’s smoggiest region. During his tenure, pollution diminished sharply across the region, but remains far from meeting federal health standards.
The board’s actions are expected to delay Southern California’s progress toward achieving those standards by allowing industry to avoid costly air quality improvements.
Dwight Robinson and other new board members have been outspoken about the need to shift the balance between air quality regulation and economic impacts on businesses.
“With every rule-making and regulation we need to be looking at the economic impact as well as the environmental impacts,” Robinson said in an interview this week. The board’s seven Republicans voted to fire Wallerstein. Its five Democrats and one independent opposed the dismissal.
The firing came just three days after board members posted an agenda item to evaluate Wallerstein’s performance. The board named Michael B. O’Kelly, the air district’s chief financial officer, as acting executive officer.
The ouster followed an emotional public hearing with dozens of speakers opposing Wallerstein’s removal. They said he was an effective, fair-minded regulator and urged the agency not to veer further from its mandate to protect their health.
Board members heard testimony from residents of smoggy communities of the Inland Empire and near South Bay oil refineries and from people who struggle with asthma and other pollution-triggered health problems. No one spoke in favor of Wallerstein’s firing.
“Your names will be etched on the lungs of our community members,” Sylvia Betancourt of the Long Beach Alliance for Children with Asthma told the panel before the vote.
Board members did not speak publicly about Wallerstein before their closed-door vote. No allegations of wrongdoing or mismanagement were made in the public hearing.
Wallerstein declined to comment after his dismissal.

NEW FEATURE SCOUT COMING TO BIKERNET– I watched this bike get unloaded two nights ago after dark in Daytona and was so impressed with the build I went back to look at it again the next morning.
The builder, Krystal Hess is a 34-year-old nurse from Austin TX. She bought a new Indian Scout a few months ago, stripped the gas tank and other factory painted parts and custom powder-coated it all herself with a tinted clear she created.
It has Hayabusa inverted front forks, a Klock Werks front fender and the tail section, radiator grill and headlight housing are all hand-fabricated metal. The exhaust can is a one-off custom unit and the seat is sewn using inner tubes. (You gotta see the detail in the seat.)
She rebuilt the whole bike herself in a one- car garage next to her house.

Pirelli Supercross Racers Take the Fight to the Great White North– The Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, is set to take place at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada this Saturday, March 12, for Round 10 of 17. As the series heads to the “Great White North”, it will be the only scheduled stop outside of the continental U.S. for the stars of supercross. Tire selection will be critical in a venue that is notorious for hosting varying soil conditions year-to-year.
The past few weeks have been nothing short of eventful for the BTO Sports/WPS/KTM team, which included Davi Millsaps and Justin Brayton recording their season-best finishes inside of the 450SX Class top-five. Unfortunately, Millsaps was victim of a late race crash while running strong in Daytona this past weekend, resulting in broken ribs and a partially collapsed lung. He will now join Andrew Short on the sidelines until he can return to racing.
A rough start haunted Autotrader/Monster Energy/Yamaha’s Weston Peick early in the season, however, despite nagging injuries, he continues to show up and give his best effort each weekend. JGRMX teammate Phil Nicoletti is on the brinks of a breakthrough performance as he returns to the soft-rutty conditions that he has grown to like.

AMA Pro Flat Track – Law Tigers Arizona Mile
The AMA Pro Flat Track race is a dirt track racing series – the oldest and most traditional form of motorcycle racing. This year’s event, the Arizona Mile, in Phoenix will be the 4th race of the season, and the first time flat track racing has returned to the Phoenix area since 1986 when Bubba Shobert won the half-mile event. Winning that race made Bubba a legend. That race victory meant that he had just completed the “Grand Slam” by winning the Mile, Half-mile, Short Track, Tourist Trophy, and Road racing event. When he won this race, however, motorcyclists could not have envisioned that the Phoenix area would not have AMA Pro Flat Track racing again for another 30 years. The Law Tigers were instrumental in bringing AMA Pro Flat Track racing back to Arizona and combining the race with the 15th Anniversary makes the celebration even sweeter.
Come out and join the Law Tigers’ Team at the Law Tigers Arizona Mile on May 14th at the Turf Paradise in Phoenix, Arizona and help celebrate Law Tiger’s 15th Anniversary!
