Hey,
Las Vegas Bike Fest is coming right up. The Aim Expo was last week in Columbus. It maybe the only dealer show still standing. This was the fifth and still fluctuating event, changing dates and locations almost yearly trying to find the answer.
Next year the plan is for the Expo to partner with Las Vegas Bike Fest and that could easily turn into a Las Vegas Bike Week. Let’s see what happens next.

Cranking compression is unchanged for easy starting, and proprietary Red Shift Cams ramp design delivers quiet operation and long valvetrain life.

HERITAGE SOFTAIL DEAL OF THE WEEK– I have been overseas and do not ride much anymore. I’ll take 17K or best offer.
My name is Shirley I have been deployed with the US Army on three different deployments. I have always wanted a Harley-Davidson motorcycle so when I arrived to Kuwait my goal was to save enough money to buy a bike and my dream came true and I got a Harley- Davidson 2013 Heritage Softail Classic pearl white with blue trim.
However when I came home from the first deployment it wasn’t long after that that I volunteered to deploy again. I did that those tours since 2009 until 2016. I have been working for the US Army Civil Service for 33 years this June 2017.
I can no longer ride so I would love to sell my pearl to another Harley lover!
Looking to sell it and hopefully make me someone a proud Harley owner.

LOWBROW Customs Founder Recaptures Land Speed Record– Tyler Malinky, founder and CEO of Lowbrow Customs, has successfully reclaimed a land speed record on his 1955 Triumph motorcycle.
Starting his land speed racing career in 2010, he has set record speeds in five different classes, including the A-VG 750 record back in 2011. “It feels great to set a goal and then accomplish it, especially when that goal is difficult to achieve, such as a land speed record,” said Malinky.
The new record is 124.593 mph on his 1955 Triumph, which was originally only 33 horsepower at the crankshaft. Malinky’s custom-built race bike ‘Poison Ivy’ touts almost double the power and torque of the original.
“Going fast is fun no matter what, but taking something slow and making it go faster than it should is what I enjoy,” said Malinky, “especially when I built it in my home garage out of swap meet junk, tubing and sheet metal.”
The prior record, just over 1 mph slower, was set at Bonneville Speed Week in 2016 by the Cheetah race team out of Switzerland on a 1950s Triumph motorcycle with a speed of 123.534 mph. They had increased the record from the 117.108 mph speed set on Poison Ivy by Malinky back in 2011.
“We’ll be back on the Salt in 2018 with Poison Ivy to bump up the speeds on this new gas record and try and take the fuel record as well” said Malinky, not missing a beat, “The real competition is between myself, my bike and the salt flats. The trouble with speed is that once you get going, you always want more.”
This should have made the headlines, but didn’t. Staff Sergeant Mark DeAlencar was killed on April 8th. He was an Army Special Forces soldier stationed here in the Fort Walton area. In January he deployed, again, to Afghanistan. He promised his adopted daughter Octavia that he would be home for her High School Graduation. He didn’t make it. But she went to graduation yesterday anyway.
Additionally, they brought THEIR FAMILIES to be with them as well. As Octavia ascended the steps to the stage to receive her diploma THEY ALL SILENTLY STOOD UP. And when she was presented her diploma they ALL CHEERED, CLAPPED, WHISTLED …… and YES, CRIED.
Everyone in attendance then stood up and cried and cheered also. Octavia had graduated and yes, she had lost her Dad…… but she had 80 other DADS to stand there with her and take his place.
I just wanted to share this moment with you…. and remind you that THIS IS WHAT IT’S LIKE TO LIVE IN A MILITARY TOWN. THIS is the real America, we all love…… and I’m proud to be part of it. God bless our men in uniform and their families who give so much. And, GOD BLESS AMERICA, land of the free and home of the brave.

BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY NOW OPEN–
Russ and Sam, two friends, very old and frail, met in the park every day to feed the birds, watch the squirrels and discuss world problems.
One day Russ didn’t ….show up. Sam didn’t think much about it and figured maybe he had a cold or something.
But after Russ hadn’t shown up for a week or so, Sam really got worried. However, since the only time they ever got together was at the park, Sam didn’t know where Russ lived, so he was unable to find out what had happened to him.
A month had passed, and Sam figured he had seen the last of Russ, but one day, Sam approached the park and — lo and behold! — there sat Russ! Sam was very excited and happy to see him and told him so.
Then he said, “For crying out loud Russ, what in the world happened to you?”
Russ replied, “I was in jail.”
“Jail?” cried Sam. “What in the world for?”
“Well,” Russ said, “you know Sue, that cute little blonde waitress at the coffee shop where I sometimes go?”
“Yeah,” said Sam, “I remember her. What about her?”
“Well, one day she filed rape charges against me; and, at 89 years old, I
was so proud that when I got into court, I pleaded ‘guilty’.”
“The damn judge gave me 30 days for lying under oath.”

ANOTHER TATTOO HEALTH ALERT FROM THE WEEK MAGAZINE— Tiny toxic particles from tattoo ink can travel through the body and accumulate in the lymph nodes, which could have long-term health consequences, according to a new study.
In addition to pigments, tattoo ink contains molecules from preservatives and contaminants such as nickel, chromium, manganese and cobalt. Lymph nodes serve a critical role in the immune system, filtering toxins and cancer cells and storing immune cells that fight infection. This test confirmed the accumulation of titanium dioxide nanoparticles in lymph nodes, which could mean anything.

A total of 31 bikes from from 24 builders were entered in one of four classes, with an eventual winner crowned for Free Style, Performance Custom, Retro Custom, and Street Custom.
Additionally, all attendees casted votes to determine the People’s Choice.

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride takes over the world!
25 September 2017
Motorcyclists around the world donned their Sunday best aboard their custom and retro machinery yesterday for the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, all to raise money and awareness of the dangers of prostate cancer and men’s mental health.
The ride saw more than 90,000 riders raise a combined total of nearly $4.5 million for the Movember Foundation in the process.
Dutch van Someren, owner of The Bike Shed and one of the organizers of the London ride said: “My favorite thing about this event is that it’s an opportunity for riders to look like really good, upstanding people and to reframe the way the people look at bikers and bike riders full stop. I mean the charity’s important too so that we can raise awareness and raise money but it’s also really important to biking as a whole.”
Now in its fifth year, the event has grown to become a truly global affair, with rides taking place all over the globe to support the cause. What started out as a ride in Sydney with 2,500 riders has grown to become an event that saw 95 countries taking part in more than 581 cities.
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride work closely with the Movember Foundation, not only helping to raise funding for the charity, but also by raising awareness of the problems faced by many men to help recognize and get problems diagnosed sooner when treatment is more effective.
HOT HOT NEWS, Royal Enfield twin-cylinder motorcycle to debut at EICMA
While there has been a lot of speculation about when this new parallel-twin from Royal Enfield will hit production, it is going to be seen at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy in November 2017.
Spy pictures of Royal Enfield’s upcoming twin-cylinder motorcycle seem to feature quite frequently on the internet now. A recent photograph that has emerged points towards there being multiple models based on the company’s parallel-twin cylinder engine, which has been under development.
This photo revealed two distinct bikes – a café racer (à la the Continental GT) seen earlier and what appears to be a ‘standard’ motorcycle built around the same chassis (a modified version of the Continental GT 535) and the same parallel-twin engine.
The clear differentiating factors between the café racer and standard models are the fuel tank and the seat. The latter’s tank is more rounded like that of RE’s Classic series of bikes, albeit with knee recesses. And while the café racer gets a sculpted single seat, the standard bike has a regular bench seat – similar to the option offered on the current Continental GT 535 – which can accommodate a pillion rider as well.
While a lot of websites and publications claim that this is a 750cc mill, there is in fact no confirmation on the actual displacement.
Enfield’s UK division has been developing engines of varied displacements, so it could be any one of these. Royal Enfield has been hush-hush about revealing details about these bikes, but we’ve heard from sources close to the company that this new motor might not actually have a cubic capacity of 750cc, but might breach the 800cc-plus range where it will compete directly against the Triumph Bonneville Street Twin.
More speculation includes the possibility that this new model could be named the Interceptor; a 750cc parallel-twin motorcycle made by Royal Enfield from 1960 to 1970. These new parallel-twin motorcycles are to make their international debut at the EICMA show in Milan this November, with an India launch slated for early 2018.
DIRECTLY FROM THE ARCH MOTORCYCLE FACTORY–
Keanu Reeves and Curtis Duffy Bond Over Exotic Motorcycles and Michelin-Starred Food.
Before you guys slam me for reporting news of these exotic expensive bikes and celebrity culture – please believe me and look up Keanu Reeves. He is one of the most generous and kind human Hollywood industry has ever produced.
When Keanu Reeves surfaced at Euphoria, a four-day food festival in Greenville, South Carolina, alongside three-star Michelin chef Curtis Duffy, a few questions arose, the most pressing one being: Why is Neo/John Wick/Ted Logan/Johnny Utah attending a food event in the Carolinas?
It turns out he was speaking with Duffy at Michelin’s North America headquarters, located in Greenville, on their mutual admiration of food and the international tire brand. Some relevant background: Reeves, in partnership with Gard Hollinger, owns an exotic motorcycle company called Arch Motorcycle.
The tire company is the same Michelin that rates restaurants by one, two and three stars, and the very same organization that connected Reeves and Duffy at the beginning of 2017 at a Pilot Sport 4S tire release in Palm Springs. “I knew that Reeves had built motorcycles with his partner, Gard,” Duffy said, prior to their first meeting. “That was always of interest to me. When I knew he was coming out there, I wasn’t star struck because of who he was. It was more about, I want to know this guy because of the motorcycle side.”
Arch Motorcycle has only produced around 30 bikes total; Reeves says that like a three-Michelin-starred meal, their bikes are an experience. The customer purchasing an Arch bike is like a person visiting Grace for an extraordinary meal. “They’re able to take a motorcycle and custom-build it for the guest,” Duffy says. “I get to take ingredients on a daily basis and create something and give it to the guest. Hopefully it makes enough impact that they’re able to remember the meal for a lifetime.”

Justice minister Stef Blok is also working on a proposal to enable a ban at a ministerial level, the Volkskrant said. Meanwhile police are targeting individual members of Satudarah and the public prosecution office is not ruling out further arrests.
Tuesday’s crack-down involved nine judges, 16 public prosecutors, tax fraud officials and 200 police officers. In total 22 homes and business premises were searched and police confiscated 750 grammes of mdma, a shotgun, €10,000 in cash, cars, motorcycles, watches, documents, computers and phones. Saturdah, which was founded in 1990 by a group of Moluccan youths and means ‘one blood’, has some 900 members in the Netherlands, divided over 36 chapters.
Journeyman Pictures made a movie “Satudarah: One Blood” – Spending time with the Netherlands’ most violent and feared biker gang. See Trailer here:

Triumph to open new factory visitor centre next month, with mystery new model revealed– Shop, café and museum at Hinckley factory
The firm is also set to reveal a new model at an event marking the official opening of the centre on October 3, although no clues have been given as to what it could be.
An invitation to the event says: ‘It is our pleasure to invite you to join us at the home of Triumph Motorcycles, Hinckley, for the long-awaited official opening of the Factory Visitor Experience and the exciting reveal of a new Motorcycle Icon.’
The firm’s website has been updated with the above image simply stating ‘Factory Visitor Experience’ and ‘History in the Making’ and the date October 3.
Plans for the site (below) are freely available on the Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council planning website. They show that two floors of a corner of the main factory building are dedicated to the visitor centre. The lower floor will include a café, atrium/entrance lobby, toilets and a large hall simply titled ‘visitor centre’ that will presumably contain bikes from the firm’s current and historic ranges.
Upstairs there’s a similar large hall, plus a shop and more toilet facilities. The picture shown on the Triumph site and here includes a modern Street Triple and an immaculate vintage Bonneville suspended by wires, presumably representing the scope and the display style of the new visitor centre.
To accommodate the visitors, changes have been made to the factory’s car parks and an entrance that will allow people into the visitor centre without letting them into the main factory itself. Triumph first announced plans for the centre last year.

UNCLE MONKEY ON TOUGH TIMES–
As the high pitch squeal of the grinder winds down you check the metal against a straight edge. A few passes on the belt sander will square it up. You lift the catalog off your coffee cup. Still a little warm.
Volbeat bleeds through the ear plugs as you lean against the bench to look at the bike. You wonder if the part was the right way to go. Perhaps if you moved that over there you wouldn’t need it.
You wonder if you had overlooked something wasting hours cutting and grinding on a part that you may not even need. Yeah but you can’t move that there, that is why you are fabricating from scratch. You run your hand through sandpaper hair.
The calendar hanging on the wall is three months behind. You curse where the time goes as you flip it right. You wonder if the parts will be in next week as promised, wonder if there is enough room on the credit card for one more order.
From the shelf you snatch your cell phone. Messages from Billy about going for beers, two from the old lady letting you know where she is. Another one from Billy canceling.
Still nothing from the guy buying the bike. Hopefully the old lady can keep you a float for one more month. A mental note to give her a back rub when she gets home. You take stock of the situation. A couple of bolts should fix another issue, but the fastener drawer is empty. A search through the toolbox finds four different sized ones and a metric one that somehow snuck in there.
The last of your change bought that burrito on the way home. The boss has been cutting hours as it is and the last advance didn’t see the light of day. You return the cup to the counter and balance the catalog on it once again before moving to the belt sander.

TATTOO OF THE WEEK– Tattoo on my friend Dylan, who recently went through a break up and wanted a piece of art that would represent what he described as the true nature of a woman…I’m sure he’ll get over it soon. Tattoo came out bad ass though.

BIKERNET TO TEST NEW HELMET–
Starting with their lowest-profile, toughest, and most-effective DOT-certified half-shell motorcycle helmet on the market, Kirsh is gearing up to dominate its competition in the motor-vehicle crash helmet category.
Kirsh’s patented liquid displacement technology will be tested by the Bikernet staff in the very near future.
Kirsh Helmets, Inc., and parent company Impact Technologies LLC were formed in late January 2017 to take up the challenge of commercializing the innovative, patented technology invented by Jason Kirshon. Focusing first on solving the problem of unsafe—but popular—novelty half-shell motorcycle helmets, Kirsh’s product outperforms “competing” helmets by orders of magnitude in independent testing.
The company’s helmets are DOT-certified and made from the highest-quality materials, coupled with the most-advanced impact technology available, and again, made entirely in the USA.
We encountered these helmets in Sturgis. Since the head is liquid protected there is a weight issue. We will check them out in the near future and share out findings.

NFL PLAY PROTESTS REPORT– From AL PACE
**LEGIT CALL** Anheuser-Busch, customer service number, 1 800 342 5283.When prompted press#1. After you leave your message, wait for the message to listen, redo… or #3 forward, as they actually have a prompt for you to voice your opinion about the NFL and the protests during the National Anthem.
It is obvious they are concerned about declining viewer ship as they pump millions of dollars into the NFL with TV ads.—let them know players should protest on their own time not on the job we don’t get too..they shouldn’t either.

WILD— The action never stops. I have an interesting report on brake fluids which should be posted tomorrow. I need some info from Spectro Oils.
And some interesting facts just slipped into the Digital Discovery area of the Cantina. Some of this shit will blow your mind.
Another piece about a ’58 Panhead is headed into the Cantina. It’s about the guy who invented the neutral light on Harleys and sold it to the factory for $1,500. He used the money to buy a ’58 FLH. We’re working on the story with Rick Krost of U.S. Choppers.
The Chopper King and I figured out a way to promote the sale of his chopper built by the Build-Off greats and signed by all of them. When we launch this story, he will have the bike listed on Ebay.
Damn, I was supposed to finish a couple of techs this week, but I was consumed with my misguided self. I know I completed something, but I’m not sure what it was. We have all the Love Jugs installation info ready to rock.
Hang on, I’ll be judging a bike show in Vegas and picking up the factory racer.
