Mike Charleton

MIKER CHARLTON EDGES CLOSER TO 500 MPH– 500mph is an ambitious goal for anyone, but especially a construction worker from Ohio. For some perspective, that’s 140mph faster than the current motorcycle land speed record holder, the Top 1 Ack Attack Streamliner. We’re going to go out on a limb and assume Mike Charlton is operating on a slightly smaller budget, so how does he plan to achieve his goal? With a 10,000bhp Westinghouse jet engine. Now, he’s one step closer thanks to a completed set of billet aluminum wheels.

Charlotonwheels

Since there isn’t a set of tires in the world that’ll withstand speeds of this kind, these wheels are made to roll across the Bonneville Salt Flats without them. The fins provide directional stability as they dig into the salt.

Mike’s hoping to make it out to Bonneville this fall. We can’t wait to see him run and we’ll keep you updated as the 500mph jet bike gets closer to completion.

REPORT CARD FROM Kennedy High School Chopper class–2009 chopper class is proud to announce some of it’s sponsors for this years builds. BDL is our primary drive sponsor with both of this years main builds getting new BDL 2″ SS2 Belt Drives. We are proud and honored to have BDL on board with us again this year. The Kennedy bikes have run BDL belt drives on most of the school project bikes and we are extremely happy with the ease of installation and quality of the components.

For one build we have the legend SUGARBEAR on board who sent us one of his high quality unique long chopper springers which will be mated to a custom frame built by Pearson Customs of Prior Lake MN. Pearson has built and donated a springer for each of the last two years builds and now with BEars front end coming in this year he offered up teh custom long and skinny frame to match. The drivetrain on this build will consist of a new Harley-Davidson black and silver motor along with a new black and silver 5-speed transmission.

baas w guys

This came straight from Harley themselves! So we are very proud to announce the partnership with Harley-Davidson on this years build and are proud to be a part of the H-D family. The second build we are doing this year will be a Sucker Punch Sally roller thanks to Jeff, Christian and Donny for their continued support. These guys have been with me from the start along with Bikernet.com.

This SPS chassis will be running a BAKER 5 speed transmission thanks to Bert Baker and James Simonelli and will have a S&S 84″ Generator SH motor, thanks again to Howard Kelly and D.J. as well as all the S&S staff for there support.

On our third build which will be one of the main builds for next years class, we are using a frame from Guilty customs mated to a Kiwi Indian leaf spring front end. This bike is looking for a motor and transmission as well as other parts to get in line so please let me know if you want to help out. We are also getting parts coming in from Bikers Choice thanks to Larry Middleton.

This bike will run POR 15 in our custom built tanks, NAMZ wiring components used on the builds, and Spectro oils in each build. I will be at the V-twin dealer expo Feb 6,7,8 set up with the Limpnickie lot space #2619 so please come by and say hi and let me know if any other companies want to be apart of what we do here with the kids.

Thanks again for the support to everyone who has helped us get to where we are today. Also look for us this summer in STURGIS at the Broke Spoke County line where we will again be a part of the Limpnickie Lot, thanks to Cycle Source, NASH motorcycle and Jay Allen.

RANDALL BALL BOOK REVIEW– Just wanted to drop you quick note and let you know I finished reading both: ?prize possession? and ?orwell? and both of them were excellent.

I personally liked Prize Possession better, because it was more hardcore in my opinion, if you have any other reading suggestions let me know, ’cause there sure as shit isn?t much else to do in Ohio, especially since its 15 degrees outside?

I’m spending a long weekend in Primm, Nevada, sequestered in a dank room with only three redheads, in a last ditch effort to put the final touches on the first Chance book. We’re hoping to have published copies by March.–K. Randall Ball

DOG HOUSE ESCAPE–I need to slip out of here fast after that intro. Maybe I can hide in Jim Betlach’s condo during the Big Twin Expo. I’m heading to Primm in the near future to work on the first Chance book. I’m sure there’s more trouble awaiting me in the desert.

Here’s the line-up for next week. We will deliver on a very cool D&D/Zippers 2009 cheap touring model tech that boosts HP without hassle. Another bike feature is being worked on, plus a very cool girl of Bikernet for the Cantina members. She’s featured right here in the news.

Watch for the Bill Bish Coast to Coast Legislative news, and I need to work on a bike feature involving Smoke Out Kara for the Cycle Source. Roger Goldammer’s bike feature is coming right along. There’s never a dull moment or a day without new content on Bikernet. It’s killing me. Let’s ride.
