STEALTH NORTH CAROLINA SHOP REPORT–I hope everyone had a great New Year’s holiday! Here at STEALTH BIKE WORKS we are getting back in the groove.The holidays are over and we are looking forward to spring time already.

We keep moving along on our ground up projects. The ’71 shovel is taking shape. The ’78 shovel has been broken down and the frame and a few other parts are at the powder coaters. Our customer base is starting to form as we see repeat customers every week and that is a very good indication of how SBW is moving along. I think our customers like the atmosphere at SBW. No high pressure sales techniques. We want people to feel at home and relaxed while they are at SBW. It does not matter that they spend money each time. I what them to come in to talk bikes, after all that is what is SBW is really about bikes and bikers!

We have the Easyrider Bike Show here in Charlotte in Feburary, so we will be making arrrangements to be there. Events like this make the winter pass by a little quicker. The weather here has been great lately, temps near 60–65 degrees, so a lot of bikes have been on the road.

I was driving to SBW this morning I was thinking about as we get older we see and look at things so differently. You start to realize what is important in life, things like your family and friends, your health. For me I have also realized that money is not always the most important thing in life. Right now I may not make as much money as I used to but I am much happier and just maybe that is worth the trade off. There were also some events that took place this week that made realize too how lucky I am to have opened STEALTH BIKE WORKS and I realize that if it was not for one person pushing me to do it I may have never have done it. She knows who she is without mentioning any names.

So as you proceed into 2006 take stock of what is really important in your life and if you can let go of what is not. On the last day of your life I don’t think you will say “I wish I had just one more dollar,” for me it will be I wish I had one more ride! Even though it may be hard sometimes ENJOY LIFE!

MORE ON JANKLOW–Janklow’s history of abuse goes back many years. Indian women on the Pine Ridge S.D. reservation recall that when he was first starting out in politics as a young lawyer running for District Attorney, he was indicted by their tribal court for rape of a 15 year-old girl. His reply was that he didn’t recognize a tribal court’s authority and was elected to DA.

He then ran for other offices proclaiming himself an “Indian Fighter” and using abusive tactics against Indians for many years much to the delight of a prejudice voting block who continued to elect him to office. Unfortunately it finally took Bikers to bring him down but read on— you’ll find the following quite interesting about the character of this “public official”:

Janklow’s Indian AbusesOliver North lied to Congress and lost his bid for a Virginia seat in the US Senate. William “Wild Bill’ Janklow allegedly raped a young Lakota woman and was elected Governor of South Dakota.

On November 8, 1994, Bill Janklow defeated former Wesleyan University professor Jim Beddow by a 55%-41% margin, elevating him to the Governorship for the third time. He formerly served as the state’s top official from 1978-’82, and from 1986-’90.

Janklow began his career in the late 1960’s as head of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe’s legal services program. He built a reputation as an excellent poverty lawyer who had come to the aid of many destitute Rosebud residents.

AIM veteran Russell Means remembers Janklow as a “great guy,” who was humorous and fun to be with, but who didn’t like Indian people, and who gave up on Indian Law when he realized there was no future in it.

American Indian Movement leader Dennis Banks says he knew of Janklow as early as 1970 from talks with then-Rosebud Tribal Council President Robert Burnette. Burnette, a highly respected man among his people, told Banks that Janklow had raped a fifteen-year-old Rosebud girl named Jancita Eagle Deer. Eagle Deer, ashamed when the horrible story spread, fled the reservation and disappeared. Janklow refused to face the charges in Rosebud tribal court and was hence barred from practicing law on the reservation.His eyes set on state politics, Janklow fancied himself an “Indian Fighter”-in the tradition of George Armstrong Custer-who left the reservation and became an assistant prosecutor for the South Dakota state Attorney General’s office. Jancita Eagle Deer had disappeared, but the rape charge wasn’t going to.

In 1974, Janklow prosecuted and jailed Sarah Bad Heart Bull, a Lakota woman whose son, Wesley, had been stabbed in the heart at a Buffalo Gap bar by a white businessman named Darold Schmidt. Despite witness accounts that Schmidt said he was “going to kill him an Indian,” he was charged only with involuntary manslaughter.

VIPER MOTORCYCLE COMPANY ANNOUNCES ACQUISITION OF MANUFACTURING FACILITY AND 2006 PRODUCT LINE WITH PROPRIETARY VIPER ENGINES– New Hope, MN – January 5, 2006 – (Pink Sheets: VPWS) – Viper Powersports has entered into a binding agreement to purchase a 32,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility on 4 acres located in Monticello, MN. The facility meets Viper’s current manufacturing needs and is zoned for expansion as Viper continues to expand and grow.

Viper Motorcycle Company will introduce its second model, the Diablo Power Cruiser (PC) at the V-Twin Expo by Easyriders in Cincinnati on February 4th – 6th. Viper will also introduce its own line of proprietary engines ranging from 115 to 152 cubic inches.

According to Nesbitt, “The Diablo PC joins the already successful Diablo for 2006. The PC is a long and low variation of the Diablo with a 21 inch front wheel and a 38 degree rake. A third model will join the product line for 2006 and all will be available with different engines. Our dealer network is growing, and we continue to build value in the Viper brand.”

How they work: A pivot pin feature allows for three positions:
1. Up Close (for riders 5’6″ – 5’10”)
2. Middle (for riders 5’11” – 6’1″)
3. Way Out (for riders 6’2″ – 6′ 4″)

Installation is easy: Remove the rubber inserts from the footboard and lay the template onto the exposed floorboard. Using a sharpie pen, draw two circles where the board is to be drilled. Remove the template and drill with a 13/32 bit. Place the Cruisin? peg assembly under the footboard and drop the installation bolts from the topside, through the footboard, through the Cruisin? peg and secure with the two split washers & nylock nuts. Replace the rubber pads and go for a ride. Install time is approximately 45 min.

THE BLUE FLAME–This is Mike from OZ Motorcycle, good job with all the stuff your doing. If you know, the stretched blue bike, with the cool chick driving it, in some mag. ads you used to run? Do you know the leg and top tube stretch, and how long the forks are, also is that 1″ or 1an 1/8″ tubing? My welder/ fab guy wants to build one just like it with a blower (early jerry maguerson style (we have one) Shovelhead, we can and do build old school frames like that one, in 1-inch or 1 an 1/8. Any help with that info would be great. I’m going to send you some photos of my “old school (real deal) shovel choppers, it’s got a (REAL ONE) D&D ( before Paughco took them over) rigid frame, 15-inch over durfee girder, 15” american “mag” rear wheel, superspoke, 5 spoke daul disc ( 8″ rotors), “totally” chromed & polished motor and trans., on & on…, I’ll sent the pics, by the way it’s for sale.

Photos were taken in the late 70’s, early 80’s for “Easyriders”, but the photo guy took too many of my girlfriend, and never gave me any of the pictures, true story, as they say, “you can look it up”.
