BIKERNET SUNDAY POST–JULY 13TH, NOT FRIDAY THANK THE GODS OF CHROME

ANFREASGIRLS

Hey,

Let’s have some fun today. The report from Hollister came in this morning from a scratchy voice over a dying cell phone. “Numbers were down Friday, then up on Saturday. Vendors are happy and everyone is having a good time,” Seth Doulton said. “Gotta go, I’m at the Sunday morning Blessing of the Bikes. Gotta get blessed before God kicks my ass.”

Chris Olsen’s Shovel.

I decided all sex and no pressure this Sunday. Andreas Kirsch sent us the girls, and I’m just a welding fool when it comes to Sturgis and Michael Lichter’s display. We had a party yesterday and Chris Olsen rolled up on his shovel and shoved a fifth in my hand. “I asked for Jack and they handed me this shit,” he said. It was Yukon Jack, “The black sheep of Canadian Liquors.” I’ll try it tonight. Let’s hit the news:

ROLLIN SIXERS 5-BALL RACING SPONSOR CHECKS IN–Sorry it took so long to get back to you, been busy. I got your book last week, good stuff. I just want to say thanks for the book and all of the support you and Nyla have given us in the last couple of years. You guys didn’t have to do it, and it means a lot to us.

I also have even more respect for the two of you after reading your acknowledgements n introduction. I can relate to how Nyla grew up. We were the first family to move into the projects that were built on the river that burns, needless to say the fishing wasn’t great but the steel mill playgrounds in the backyard were LOL.

It takes a lot of heart to come up from places like that, I know. Much respect to you, Nyla. I love being a biker and to be allowed to be a part of its history just blows me away. When I think of all the future generations of my family that might be inspired to chase their dreams by reading what a group of regular men and women pulled off. It’s hard to put into words.

Thanks again for letting us be a part of it. I might try to make it out if you go back this year if it’s cool.

Harley’s Heroes Tour Helps Veterans Across the Country The 2008 Harley Heroes Tour wouldn’t be possible without the $1 million dollar pledge from the Harley-Davidson Foundation. The mission of Harley’s Heroes is to provide access to benefits for all veterans and show appreciation for their service and sacrifice to our country.

Throughout the tour, the mobile services unit has made many stops across the country. The stop at Black Hills Harley-Davidson in Rapid City, S.D., on May 24-25, 2008, was one of these successful events, with more than 80 veterans receiving benefits counseling. Tracey Manning Egge, Marketing Manager at Rapid City Harley-Davidson stated, “Volunteers felt the response was excellent and exceeded expectations.”

“Harley’s Heroes introduces more veterans to the benefits that they are entitled to receive, and we are proud of our Harley-Davidson dealers for supporting those men and women who have served our country,” said Gail Lione, President of the Harley-Davidson Foundation and Executive Vice President General Counsel & Secretary, Harley-Davidson, Inc.

Other successful stops included Republic Harley-Davidson in Stafford, Texas; Killer Creek Harley-Davidson in Roswell, Ga.; Buckminn’s Harley-Davidson in Xenia, Ohio and Bobby’s Territorial Harley-Davidson in Yuma, Ariz. All of these stops helped to support our veterans and say thanks for their dedication. There are more than 200 dealership visits scheduled throughout the year.

3RD ANNUAL BUILDERS BREAKFAST ADAPTS TO HELP KIDS–Builders Breakfast adapts its normal routine to attract more attendees in a challenging economy.

Minneapolis, MN ? (July, 2008) ? The 3rd Annual Builders Breakfast scheduled to be held TUESDAY, AUGUST 5th at the Broken Spoke on Lazelle Street in Sturgis is changing its standard agenda and policies to adapt to the challenging economy.

BREAKFAST2008

With the rally literally around the corner and Sturgis attendance projections coming in at a very low number, the Builders that make the Builders Breakfast event come to life adjust their event. ?Most people are tightening their belts right about now, spending to attend the Breakfast may stretch their event budget too far. With that in mind, we changed our plan today so more people can come and ultimately more kids can see their last wish come to life through the South Dakota Make A Wish Foundation? explained Builder Rick Fairless. ?Why should the kids suffer because the event looks like it?ll be down and gas is overpriced? It doesn?t make sense!? finished Fairless. The Builders Breakfast entry fee of $25 will be waived.

The Breakfast will be less about food and more about the kids. ?We never really rolled out a gourmet meal in the first place, so if we pass on food and offer coffee and rolls, we think we will be fine? added Builder Paul Yaffe. ?It?s about the kids anyhow, not about eating. The Builders look forward to this event every year and this year will be better than ever? finished Yaffe.

New for 2008, in addition to waiving the entry fee, the Builders will bring their bikes into the meet and greet area. You can come meet the best in the industry and have your picture taken with them on their bike! How about that for an event? Additionally, an auction will take place with one-of-a kind items and we will pass the ?skull cap? to collect funds for our friends at the awesome Make A Wish foundation.

The event tales place Tuesday, August 5 at 10:00 AM at the Broken Spoke on Lazelle Street. The biggest and brightest motorcycle Builders on the planet will be on hand serving coffee and visiting with attendees.

With dozens of Builders confirmed for the event a great time is guaranteed. If you have already purchased a ticket from one the participating Builders, please come by and let us know if you can donate the $25. For your donation you will receive a gift. Tickets were on sale at several of the builders shops including: Cyril Huze, Covington Customs, Perewitz shop, Leroy Thompson Choppers, Carolina Customs and Arlen Ness?s shop in CA..

For the 3rd straight year the best Builders on the planet come to hang with you in an effort to make a couple of kids? dark days a bit better. Please come and show your support! You?ll spend some time with Builders like Arlen Ness, Jerry Covington, Russell Mitchell, Zack Ness, Jim Nasi, Dave Perewitz, Paul Cox, Rick Fairless, Keino, Cory Ness, Paul Yaffe, Donnie Smith? the list goes on and on. Benefits from the event proudly go to Make-A-Wish, South Dakota.

THE HARLEY-DAVIDSON MUSEUM REVEALS ITS BEST KEPT SECRET– Motor and Cafe Racer Two Restaurants Bring the Bold Flavors of the Open Road to the Table

While the Harley-Davidson Museum’s exhibits have so far been shrouded in mystery, perhaps the destination’s best kept secret has been its two new restaurants, Motor and Cafe Racer.

On July 12, Motor and Cafe Racer will throw their doors open and treat the hungry to a whole new eating experience. This isn’t your typical Museum restaurant.

“After a ride, bikers often gather to share stories of the day’s journey – the Harley-Davidson experience is made of those moments of connection,” said Stacey Schiesl, Harley-Davidson Museum Director. “From the menu selection to the space design, Motor and Cafe Racer offer bold flavors of the open road in a space that fosters the camaraderie Harley-Davidson is known for.”

Paying homage to the restaurant’s name, Motor boasts a piece of welded artwork featuring actual Harley-Davidson motor parts used to divide the restaurant into separate gathering spaces. The metal piece uses engine parts that came directly from Harley-Davidson’s Pilgrim Road Powertrain Operations facility in Milwaukee. Flywheels, gears and other parts inspire the namesake space with Harley-Davidson heritage.

Cafe Racer, designed as the perfect place to quickly refuel, welcomes guests to come and go as they please and is as casual as a Sunday ride on an open road. For those with time to stay and chat, the racing stripe-inspired color palette and the walls lined with Harley-Davidson and Buell racing action shots enhance the colorful conversations to be had inside the cafe. The cafe encourages eating outdoors as well on I-beam benches in the Founder’s Plaza and around the Hillclimber statue for those who want to picnic.

Motor is open to the general public for lunch and dinner while Cafe Racer is open for breakfast, lunch and light dinner. A Museum ticket is not needed to eat at either Motor or Cafe Racer.

“Motor and Cafe Racer will certainly ‘wow’ visitors to our Museum,” said Schiesl. “And they’re sure to be local favorites for people who like good American food with a bold spin that will keep them coming back again and again.”

Motor is open Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 12 a.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Cafe Racer is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Final kitchen orders are taken one hour prior to close. Call 1-877-HD-MUSEUM (1-877-436-8738) or visit www.h-dmuseum.com for more information.
