Milwaukee Iron Up For Sale?Their entire inventory will be auctioned off on August 27th, live and online–After 26 years operating under the name of Milwaukee Iron, world renowned builder, Randy Simpson, is closing the doors to his Lynchburg, Virginia facility. After two years of a downward trend in motorcycling that has significantly reduced the volume of his sales with stiffer and uneven competition from the overseas? market, Randy is ready to move on to other ventures.

On top of the actual business name and entire product line of Milwaukee Iron and components needed to manufacture them, everything in their shop, all equipment and a 35-year parts inventory, will be liquidated in an auction that is open to the general public on August 27th. Some of the shop items are everything from a spinning machine for fenders, gas and oil tanks and a manufacturing robot that mig welds and plasma cuts using Lincoln equipment to several Lincoln welders (both tig and mig) and flat steel work tables.

There are a large variety of hand tools, 2 press brakes (one small and one 88 ton) that will also be included in the auction. Some of the bikes Randy has become notable for during his career like Karnevil, Voodoo Child, Nuthin? Fancy, Southern Steel and even his original Street Survivors will be up for bid.

randy2

The parts are too extensive to list in whole but there are many flathead cases and engines, a lot of new old stock frontend stuff (FLH and FLT style) pistons and rings for J models and V?s, plenty of frames from Pans, Shovels, Evos, Sportsters and even some of the MI custom frames will be included. All of this and one special item, a 40 foot shipping container that is packed to the roof with parts that will be auctioned as one lot to the highest bidder. They?re still loading parts into this thing as we speak.

Riders Rally Against Boston’s EPA Ordinance for Motorcycles; 2nd rally planned —(Boston, MA) More than 100 citizen-bikers and supporters Monday night risked $300 citations, riding into the Hard Rock Cafe “Bike Night,” protesting the recently enacted City of Boston Ordinance requiring “readily visible” EPA stamps on their exhausts systems.

“I’m proud riders turned out and stood up in defiance of the repugnant Ordinance,” said Paul W. Cote, a Plaintiff in the lawsuit filed against the City. “I looked at over 80 bikes, and only 3-5 had imprints ‘readily visible,’ the City could have made over $24,000 but choose not to apply enforcement tactics. The police detail officer was a rider himself, and he acted with professionalism and courtesy,” claimed Cote.

Riders representing the Buffalo Soldiers MC, the Boston Divaz MC, Beantown Riders, North Shore Women on Wheels, and South Shore HOG had known representatives present. Members of other groups also supported the Event. Numerous sport bike riders were also in attendance.

Attorneys Jay Kimball, AMA life member, and Laurie McGhee of Attorney Joseph Provanzano’s Peabody office attended.

Long time motorcyclists activist Bill Gannon of Quincy rallied the riders, through his cancer ridden throat, blasting the Boston City Council who had been invited but choose not to attend the rally. Gannon declared this Ordinance needs to be stopped here and now or it WILL COME to your city and towns. He challenged riders to “Either Pay now or Act” (EPA). The riders then answered by donating $305 toward the legal offense fund.

The City of Boston Law Department has over 60 attorneys and paralegal staff. But Massachusetts Motorcyclists’ Riders For Justice have heart. We have guts, and that can’t be measured in money.

Watch for details on www.BostonBiker.com for the next Justice Rides event, Monday night, July 27th, again at the Hard Rock in Boston. We aren’t going away. We aren’t going to pay. We are going to ACT ! Join us 7/27 in Boston !

THE LONE WOLF; THE LONE RIDER. SOLITARY AND FREE – THE UNCLE MONKEY REPORT- They roam the countryside as free spirits, untied and unhindered in what they do. It’s not surprising then that we find such a large number of these lone wolves, independent riders, who haven’t linked themselves to a club or riding group. They are however the first to be there to support a cause. They make it to every run, every event, raising money, and bringing out new riders. These free spirits don’t want to be tied down with belonging to a group, attending regular meetings, planning the fine details of an event. For them their freedom comes from participating, contributing and not organizing and doing. All causes and charities are important and deserve equal consideration and it is these independent riders that help ensure that happens.

Belonging to a motorcycle club or group isn’t for everyone. As with most groups there is a lot of politics and personal agendas that a person has to deal with. It is not always cut and dry with everyone in the group working together towards a common cause. Older members pine for the good old days when it was just them and the friends they grew up with. They feel passed over as times change.

Newer members want to move the club forward, fulfilling the goals and ambitions of the founders but feel overlooked because the old guard are resistant to change. Others still are content with inaction and feel if it isn’t broken don’t fix it.

Equal and opposite, the organizations and the riders balance each other out. The great events and fund raising would be nothing without the free riders that attend them. The free riders would be lost without the events and runs the organizations host. In the end, the sum of the parts is greater then the individuals and together they accomplish things that would otherwise be impossible.
