BIKERNET NEWS FLASH – BEE ATTACK, BIKERNET PHOTOGRAPHER EMBEDDED IN THE FRONT

Continued From Page 4

1 bees landing

It started out as a swarm. We watched them come from our second story.

2 growing

More and more bees came and landed on the umbrella.

3 growing more

More.

4 migrating down

After about forty-five minutes, they all had landed and were migrating to the bottom of the umbrella.

5 settling under umbrella

All settled, until Kyle came along with a basketball.

6 knocked down scatterd for shade
Kyle threw the basketball upwards on the opposite side of the bees and they dropped like a rock, shattering when they hit the ground. Immediately, then headed towards the leg and shade.

7 shade spots

Finding shade.

1 final resting spot

For the next couple of days, this is where they began to make a honeycomb. I decided it was time to call in an expert, since they usually take off within 24-hours if they don?t like the location. 2 ? days later, I think they found a home.

2 scraped in to box

Alex, from Golden Queen Honey & Bee came to relocate them. I didn?t want them to die.

3 waiting to find queen

After scraping the comb and bulk of the bees in to the box, he sat and waited for the others to fly in the box or land back on the table. He was very patient and did this a couple of times.

4 taped box shut - done

That?s it. Most of the bees loaded and the rest get sprayed. He had to kill the scent so scouts don?t lead any back.

Sorry, I had to run this. I thought it was so fascinating and since I took all these photos. As it turns out, they were common Honey Bees. Yes, I was the brave photographer.
