JOHN REED EXPLAINS V-BIKE FORK STOPS–I just walked across to my V with the Paoli forks,It has the tank that came with the V (regency) I have sawed the back of the 1/4″ ally platethat is also used as the fork stops, and screwed a 3/4″ od spacer in the holes that werein the original Paoli lower tree, and the bars etc clears the tank on both sides by about 0.150″

For fuck sake. did you get my sketch etc, etc?

If you put a spacer in the holes in the side of the lower tree that held the lower fairing bracket on a stock V3/4outside diameter and don’t touch the stop welded on the frame the same as it left Santee, the spacer hits the side of it, and give you about60 degrees each side of the center line, any more and you will have a trials bike. You should phone me.

NEW MOTORCYCLE EDUCATION FLORIDA LAW–Florida: Motorcycle Riders Effective July 1, 2007Florida Statue 322.12 Section 16 will require all applicants for a motorcycle driver’s license endorsement Regardless of Age to successfully complete a motorcycle safety course.

These courses are offered by different companies through out the state. The course registration fees vary and there is no cap on what they can charge. It is expected that prices will rise with demand.

You are requested to contact your elected officials and ask that they repeal this law. It should be noted that no other form of vehicle operator’s license requires mandatory schooling. Since Motorcycle Riders are singled out by this law it is prejudicial.

SHOTGUN SHOCKS FOR BAGGERS–Greetings and salutations from JD. We are happy to inform you, that our new bagger shock is available for viewing. Please check the photos, and email us your impressions.

We have developed an air shock with our proprietary air injection technology. Each shock has four internal solenoids, which control height and rebound. The unit is fully sealed with a check valve and controlled by an external compressor and two mini toggle switches.

This shock will afford excellent suspension and a ride height from 10 to 13.5 inches. It will be safe and dependable since the air lines and the fittings are not part of the high pressure system. It also has a clean billet look, with all the valves and all the hardware hidden.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Honda2DDavidson

I DON’T BELIEVE THE FOLLOWING– June 22 (Bloomberg) — Trading in options to buy shares of Harley-Davidson Inc. surged to a record on speculation that the biggest U.S. motorcycle maker may be acquired by Honda Motor Co., the world’s largest maker of motorcycles.

A combined Harley-Davidson and Honda would command as much as 60 percent of the U.S. large motorcycle market, Tim Conder, an analyst with A.G. Edwards & Sons in St. Louis, said in a research note today.

The number of call options traded jumped to 49,848 contracts, an all-time high, as of 4 p.m. in New York, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Volume hadn’t exceeded 25,000 contracts since October 2005. The most active call, which gives investors the right to purchase Harley-Davidson shares at $70 by July 21, rose sevenfold in price to 35 cents. Earlier, it jumped 10-fold.

“There are rumors of a potential takeover,” said Frederic Ruffy, an options analyst at Redwood City, California-based Optionetics.com. “Investors think it’s credible. They expect an announcement in the short term and a big move in the stock.”

Conder called the speculation “false” because an offer from Honda may not survive U.S. Federal Trade Commission scrutiny and a merger might “alienate U.S. customers.” The analyst has a “hold” rating on Harley-Davidson shares.

Bob Klein, a spokesman for Milwaukee-based Harley-Davidson, declined to comment. Honda spokesman Jon Seidel didn’t immediately return a voice message seeking comment.

The company’s shares rose the most since October, adding 4 percent to $62.55 in New York Stock Exchange composite trading. They touched $63.99 earlier.

Traders “are looking to get as much leverage as possible” by buying contracts that expire next month — the July calls –at a so-called strike price that’s more than $7 higher than Harley- Davidson’s share price, Ruffy said. “That’s a sign they expect something soon because it would take a major announcement to push the stock up to $70.”

The RSD Tracker 2-into-1 Exhaust System fuses RSD styling and design with Vance & Hines racing performance. Seen on the Drag Specialties 2007 Fatbook cover, the pipe had overwhelming response and now is available.

The beautifully hand welded 2-into-1 head pipes boast a race quality, high temperature black ceramic coating. The carefully detailed and drilled chrome heat shields are minimalist and sleek. A chrome billet drilled exhaust tip with the RSD mark adds the perfect amount of bling for your buck

“I’ve always loved the 2-into-1 high pipe and this is my version of it,” Sands said. “It’s high and tight with some RSD style thrown in on the heat shields and machined exhaust tip. The sound is deep and racy, making it feel like you’ve done some serious engine work.”

THAT’S IT FOR THIS SUMMER THURSDAY–We try to shut down the phones on Thursday, since the news kicks our butts. It’s like producing an entire magazine in a day. Sometimes over 100 pages of content. We scramble, but today Jeremiah snuck in the back gate and started working on his bobber Shovel. “I’m gonna ride it to the Smoke Out West, and you’re riding your Shovel, damnit.” We’ve built some very cool components and you’ll see it come together shortly on Bikernet. But he started grinding welds and taping parts to be powdered, while I hammered on the news.

chopngrindhat
New Hat from Chop N Grind Racing.

We actually escaped the confines of the Bikernet ghetto headquarters to grab lunch at Shamrocks, the fresh fish market a few blocks away. Felt good to take a break, sit in the sun, munch on a shrimp and veggie burrito and sip a Corona. Ah, life is good, even in a ghetto.

So, usually I ramble about what’s coming on Bikernet and the Bonneville bike, but screw it. I’m scrambling on a massive tranny install article from Rivera Primo and a Softail Bobber tech from Wolfgang. Okay, okay, let’s ride outta here. Tomorrow we’re headed over to Gard Hollinger’s LA Chop Rods to watch him make the cowling for the gas tank dash, and help him with some of his products. You’ll see the cowling, his products and the Bonneville bike nearly completed next week if the front end arrives! We gotta go to paint within 10 days.

Ride Forever,

–Bandit
