EFI

RIDEMAXX BLUETOOTH-ENABLED EFI CONTROLLER– RIDEMAXX, from American Micro-Fuel Device Corp, is a new EFI controller for Harley-Davidsons which features a wireless remote control module.

The RideMaxx ECU module is a plug-and-play device which plugs into the ECU under the bike’s seat to communicate with the handlebar module. It is supplied pre-loaded with power and fuel consumption maps. The power choice provides an improvement of up to 15 percent in horsepower. The economy choice offers long distance riders the preference to conserve fuel, and to enjoy up to an added 25 miles per tank; while the automatic setting lets RideMaxx alternate between the two settings, offering a live and seamless power and performance improvement all around.

Changes to the settings are made through the use of a wireless remote handlebar module that mounts onto any sized handlebars; the handlebar unit has two buttons, power and economy, that allow the rider to change maps on the fly, while they ride.

The RideMaxx handlebar module is powered with a standard battery, and communicates wirelessly with the ECU module for instant changes on the fly. RideMaxx comes equipped with Bluetooth enabled technologies, and offers wireless tuning, data logging, and the ability to display bike information on Bluetooth enabled devices – PDAs and computers. This technology allows for wireless downloads of maps without any access to the unit itself, as well as wireless access to fuel tables, and tuning on the fly.

RideMaxx is currently available for H-D Open Loop Touring models and Open Loop Softail models. Systems for Closed Loop Touring models, Closed Loop Softail models, Dyna, Sportster and V-Rod models will be available shortly.

Baker7

THE BAKER DD7: way more to it than an extra gear– Haslett, Mi; The Baker DD7, Direct Drive 7-Speed is being developed as a direct replacement of the Cruise Drive Harley-Davidson factory 6-speed to improve it in many ways besides just adding another gear.

Many complain that the factory 1st gear is too tall and these bikes feel bogged-down at the stoplight. The DD7 has a shorter 1st gear for improved get-up-and-go.

In transmission design low mainshaft weight is always desirable for smooth and quiet shifts. The factory mainshaft is a one-piece design that includes 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears. The audible shift clunk in the factory 6-speed is caused by the heavy rotating weight and the resultant high inertia of the 1-piece forged mainshaft. The DD7 mainshaft is light weight and only includes the small 1st gear as an integral part to keep weight down. The shift clunk is absolutely minimized.

Shift smoothness in the factory 6-speed is a definite improvement over the 5-speed. The DD7 is a big improvement over the factory 6-speed because it incorporates a new linear roller ball detent as part of the supplied billet top cover. This linear roller ball detent is similar to the technology first used in Baker TorqueBox transmissions. In the Baker DD7, the shift drum is designed to help the rider find neutral every time, like with all other Baker transmissions.

The factory 6-speed has straight cut 1st and 5th gears. This yields gear noise in 1st and 5th.The Baker DD7 has a full set of helical gears for quiet operation in every gear.

Because of the shorter first gear and following gear ratios, testers report that the bike feels like motor work has been done. The shift quality is unheard of as well.

The Harley-Davidson factory 6-speed ratios are: 1st (3.34), 2nd (2.30), 3rd (1.71), 4th (1.41), 5th (1.18), 6th (1.00).

The Baker DD7 transmission will have the following ratios: 1st (3.76), 2nd (2.75), 3rd (2.06), 4th (1.55), 5th (1.27), 6th (1.10), 7th (1.00).

The BAKER DD7 is scheduled to be available late summer/early Fall 2008.

BIKERNET REACHES ANOTHER READER–Happy Easter!!!!!! Thanks for the box of goodies last week. It came as quite a surprise. Hope the Easter Bunny leaves you some real cool goodies in your Easter basket!!

My Dad came back from a vacaton in Ireland last fall and brought back some 12-year-old Jameson Irish whiskey. It is incredibly smooth straight up or on the rocks. I like it better than Jack Daniels single barrel. You really should give it a try if you haven’t already. Makes you want to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day every day.

Thanks again,
–Mike Kelly

ps. I had the honor of meeting Michael Lichter at Willy’s Topical Chopper Show during Bike Week this year and he photographed my backpiece. It’s a tattoo of Dave Mann sliding up in front of the Shores, my wife Vickie is the artist. We have one of books of Dave’s work that he signed, you wrote the forward in it.

THE ANTI-GUN MEDIA WORLD– Here’s an example of how the MSM (main stream media) tries to take the focus off the real issues. Below is an excerpt from this article. If you want to read this in it’s entirety, click on the link below.

But, wait. Buried at the bottom of the story is the real matter of interest in this tale.

A lady who was sitting on the train near us decided enough was enough, the girls said. She reached into her purse a little bit and moved her hand around as if she had a weapon. She?s screaming at the girls to back up, and the girls yielded.

The fact that a woman on the train, a passenger uninvolved in the attack, came to the girl?s rescue by pretending to have a gun is what should have been the real focus of this story.

So, now we can see why this news piece is focused on French fries because the real story is that the threat of a gun STOPPED a crime! And we certainly can’t expect an MSM outlet to report the truth that a gun (or the threat thereof) is responsible for stopping a crime in progress. This piece should have been titled Good Samaritan Stops SEPTA Attack With Threat of Gun, but we get a headline about French fries, instead.

This story is a perfect example of how the MSM warps our language to hide the truth and promulgates their own version of reality instead of merely reporting the facts.

HACKER REPORT FROM THE BIKERNET MOUNTAIN WHERE THE WORLD WIDE TRANSFORMERS ARE INSTALLED–A reader asked if credit card security was breached during the Communist Chinese attack. “That doesn’t seem to be the motivation for the attack,” said the Bikernet lead scientist. “It was a database insert that nailed us. Nobody actually extracted any data. We have server logs to confirm us this.”

Apes

13-INCH APES ON A GLIDE– If it had a primary drive, and a tranyy, I would do it myself… HA…..

Working on a how to article for you. I just ripped the glide apart and put a set of 13-inch apes on it. A bit involved doing it on an E glide, but worth it…

Way more attitude now, and isn’t that what it’s all about?

Hey, it’s Easter time. Give blessings, Easter Eggs, candy rabbits, whatever, do something, even it’s wrong. We survived another Bikernet Interplanetary disaster. We should party. A brother Hamster called and told me his washing machine caught fire. He ran to its smoking side, but it was still doing the laundry and he didn’t want a basket fulla wet clothes, so he let it finish and fill the shop with smoke. Life is nuts.

Tomorrow will kick off a wild Bikernet week with an Envy Chopper feature, Rogue dresser tech, Highbar feature from Minneapolis, road story from Doc and a Paul Garson project launch article. He’s building a Nortster out of a 2004 Sportster. Plus we have Bill’s legislative update and a new European Girl of Bikernet. Hang on, it’s all happening here, if the building doesn’t burn down.

Ride Forever, Bandit
