Hey,
It’s a Memorial Day weekend and I hope to spend it in true memorial fashion, riding, chasing women and paying tribute to downed service personnel.

Remember the contest we had for the two seats. Well Shirley Zanelli won for her effort to raise money for our Iraqi brothers, so I made here a trophy this weekend. I don’t have a name for it yet. I kept thinking, “Freedom With Rusty Nails.”

We replaced the deck on Dr. Terry’s mountain pad and saved all the nails. The ring I used for the wheel came from Jammer Cycle in the ’70s, and I use gas welding, Mig Welding, Bronze and Brass brazing in the process.

I wish I had a small sandblaster to take the slag and brazing flux off the surface before I clear it. I had a sandblaster as one time, but didn’t have space in the shop for it, so I gave it to a brother. Damn. Let’s hit the news and I’ll show you the semi-final product:

BANDIT BIKE ON E-BAY–One of a Kind 1928 Shovelhead With Industry Star Power.
This bike, a 1984 Shovelhead was originally owned by Arlen Ness and sold to the editor of Easyriders and the owner of Bikernet.com, who was featured on Monster Garage, Keith “Bandit” Ball. Ball shipped a portion of the bike to Rick Fairless, TV star bike builder, of Strokers Dallas. He delivered the driveline to JIMS machine for a complete overhaul, then he studied where he could find reproduction components from the ’20s. From Fred Lange, nationally known motorcycle restoration expert, Ball found board track tanks, classic seat and fender. A late model traditional H-D springer was matched to the new Paughco Frame.
All the elements were refined in Dallas at Easyriders of Dallas (now Strokers Dallas) by Rick’s crew of talented builders. Virtually every element of this bike is brand new. The entire build was documented on Bikernet.com then featured in American Iron (copy of magazine available). It also won it’s class in the Grand National Roadster Show 2004.
The Transmission is a strong 5-speed coupled to a performance 84-cubic inch Shovelhead engine.

MOTORCYCLE MONSTER POPULARITY EXPLODES– In October of 2007 when the www.motorcyclemonster.com event web site introduced it’s new mascot the Motorcycle Monster character they had no idea of the whirlwind that would evolve, in fact it would better be described as a hurricane, tornado, typhoon, or other more dramatic word for ‘wild ride’.
Well now 10 months later, the wild ride on the Motorcycle Monster seems to have only begun. The Motorcycle Monster has appeared in over 140 newspapers around the world, and many top motorcycle publications like Easy Rider and Thunder Press.
The Monster quickly booked trade shows including Cincinnatis’ V Twin Expo, Myrtle Beach Bike Week, Leesburg Bikefest, Donnie Smiths Bike Show, Wide Opens Kansas City Show, and Colorado Springs. The Monster has become a regular at J and P Cycles events including Destination Daytona during 8 days of Bike Week and most recently appeared at Myrtle Beachs? Broadway at the beach. Up-coming events include J and Ps popular Annual Open House celebration in Anamosa Iowa and the Football Hall of Fame in Sept. of 2008 at Canton, Ohio.

The Monster is also family with the good folks at Glencoe Campgrounds and Sturgis Bike Week. One of the first trade shows worked by the Monster was contracted by SturgisBikeWeek.com in Kansas City this past winter. Moses Ward from Sturgis Bike Week.com said, ‘The effect the Monster has on the Motorcycle Crowd is amazing. The Monster makes the event fun and all bikers seem to love his antics. Everyone from the small children to the hard core bikers enjoy the Monster fun. I’ve never seen a motorcycle act have such a positive effect.’
The first indication of a major entertainment discovery appeared shortly after the Monster began his first walk down Main Street in Daytona during Biketoberfest 2007. As literally hundreds of folks pushed, shoved, climbed, and scurried to get a look at and hopefully a photo of the new Motorcycle Icon. Bikes began stopping in traffic, cars parking for photos, and literally hundreds trying to get a better look at this 6”7′ mammoth motorcyclist.
One of the first concerns the Monster himself had was for public safety. The man behind the Monster and full time marketing guru, Dan Derringer said, ‘we never thought about their being security concerns, but when folks starting getting a little over excited, I began to look for an exit strategy. With only my wife along to help with security, my first thought was to get the Monster out into the street away from the mob scene, where there was more room and also the place I thought law enforcement might come to our aid’. As wished, Derringer was met with helpful police officers who offered to help him take the Monster back to the safer confines of the hotel. Of course, first they wanted a photo of the Monster lined up with Daytona’s finest. After the photos, with the police, the Monster and security were escorted to the Hilton.
Upon reflection, Derringer said, ‘ we had no idea of the excitement the Monster would create’. With little more than an attitude of ‘let’s give it a try’, the Monster had become a huge success almost immediately. On the second day with a little more planning with security concerns at the forefront, the Monster again made a short visit to Main Street. This time, it was earlier in the day and the Monster was moved along the sidewalk to avoid large crowds being able to stop traffic. With only a 45 min trip the Monster posed for hundreds of photos while business owners offered deals to have the monster stop in for food or drink and to bring his group of friends along. One of the last photos on that October day was with an AP photographer. A couple days later, the Monster’s photo was featured in over 142 newspapers including the Miami Herald, the New Your Times, the Tai Pei Times and the China Post.

CLEVELANDMOTORCYCLE.COM DOMAIN NAME AVAILABLE– Currently we are contacting individuals and businesses who might be interested in acquiring this domain name. We acquired it in a domain auction, and will be making it available for $499.
As you can imagine, it is perfect to point to your website since it a natural combination of words that would be typed in by those seeking your services. You can also make this a primary name to your current website or develop another website around it.
Even more simply, you can point this new domain name to your current website very easily (usually at a very nominal cost and sometimes at NO additional cost) driving EVEN more traffic to your website and keeping competitors from registering this domain name and keeping it tied up for years. Many on-line siteowners have thousands of domain names “pointing” to their current site “greatly” increasing the odds someone will type those words into their computer’s browser and arrive at their on-line location.
And of course once you have this name in your possession, no one else in the world can have it unless YOU RELINQUISH CONTROL.
In addition, you can renew your domain name year after year for only $8 or so depending on your domain provider; then very likely resell it in the future for a nice profit should you no longer require the domain name.
Occasionally we receive multiple requests for a domain name. Should that occur with THIS name, new ownership will be on a first come, first served basis.
We have a PayPal account should you have an interest in this name. We also work through Escrow.com and accept Mastercard, Visa and American Express. Likewise we accept checks, but require that they clear before transferring the name.

BIKERNET NEWS REVIEW– Hey brother Bandit. Just read the Thursday news and there were a couple or three articles to raise your hackles and I for one am glad you published them. Being a semi-old geezer I remember in the ’60S that that was the way things were like it or not. I guess what I’m babbling about is in this time of “old school” bikes of all types it’s important to remember what it was really like back in the day.
You’ll get no complaint from me, I enjoy reading what it was like, good or bad. Don’t stop doing what you do and don’t let the crap get you down.

NEW BUELL ULYSSES POLICE OFFERS SPECIAL-DUTY CAPABILITY– Powerful and Agile on Highways or Unpaved Roads.
EAST TROY, Wis. (May 21, 2008) ? The new Buell Ulysses Police XB12XP offers government agencies and private security firms a quick and very nimble ?special duty? patrol vehicle that is capable of travel over a variety of terrain, from open highways to city streets to unpaved back-country roads.
Based on the versatile Buell Ulysses adventure sportbike, the Ulysses Police features long-travel suspension, generous ground clearance and aggressive tires that allow it to tackle roads too rough or narrow for confident travel in an automobile or on a traditional police motorcycle. On smooth pavement, the Ulysses Police is an agile sport motorcycle. The Ulysses Police can also accommodate a passenger. Available for order through Buell dealers as of May 27, 2008, production of the 2009 Ulysses Police is scheduled to begin in August 2008.
Special features of the Ulysses Police include hard-shell top and side cases, each removable and lockable. The side cases are narrower than the standard Ulysses accessory side cases, allowing for more clearance in tight situations. On the Ulysses Police model, the Buell Triple Tail system functions as a luggage rack with tie-down hooks over the rear seat position, or as a cushioned passenger backrest with grab rails. A tall windshield, heated hand grips, and handlebar deflectors are also standard equipment. An available emergency response kit provides a siren and an LED lighting package in three different color configurations (Red/Blue, Red/Red, or Blue/Blue).
The Ulysses Police is powered by an air/oil/fan-cooled, fuel-injected Buell Thunderstorm 1203cc V-Twin engine that delivers 103 peak horsepower. This engine?s broad powerband and abundant torque gives the Ulysses the ability to proceed at lower speeds over uneven or unpaved roads with less gear shifting, and to deliver instant bursts of acceleration. The Ulysses Police has an EPA fuel mileage rating of 51 mpg urban/64 mpg highway*. A Goodyear Hibrex final drive belt with Flexten Plus technology is durable and never needs adjustment or lubrication.
Premium Showa front and rear suspension is fully adjustable. Rear spring preload can be adjusted for passenger and gear weight simply by turning a dial located below the left side of the seat. Suspension travel is 6.5 inches in front and 6.4 inches at the rear. Ground clearance is 6.75 inches.
The Ulysses Police features a 4.4-gallon fuel reservoir integrated into the aluminum frame. The lower center of mass achieved by carrying fuel in the frame, rather than in a tank located high on top of the frame, enhances rider confidence on and off pavement. The muffler is located below the engine to further lower the center of gravity and centralize mass for improved handling in all situations. Low unsprung weight helps keep the tires in contact with uneven road surfaces for improved control. The 17-inch, six-spoke, reinforced cast-aluminum wheels feature a durable rim design, and Pirelli Scorpion Sync tires deliver good traction on paved and unpaved roads. A dual front fender system provides debris protection for the rider and the bike.
The Ulysses Police will be offered in two color choices: Birch White and Midnight Black.
