MEMORIAL DAY SUNDAY POST, for May 24th, 2015

Hey,

It’s overcast today and a handful of the local gang are going to cut a dusty trail for a new adventure today. There is never a lack of new cultural opportunities in Los Angeles.

My mother was a big one for finding the new and creative. If it wasn’t an art exhibit, it was a play, a seminar, a water-color class, a musical event, you name it. It’s out there.

The same applies to us custom nuts. We can go to shows, paint shops, fab shops, sheet metal classes, or welding classes. It was my goal as a younger man to handle everything motorcycle in my garage. I could weld, machine, rebuild, bolt together, tune, wire, and paint, just about everything except sheet metal and chrome.

Then I discovered the team approach works better than one source. I was good at many things, but not great at most. It’s good to know the true talents when you’re building something and attempting to reach world class.

Let’s hit the news, and then cut a dusty trail:

BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY IS ALREADY OPEN–
Apple announced today it has developed a breast inplant that can play and store music. The iTit will cost from $499 to $699, depending on cup and speaker size. This is considered a major social breakthrough because women are always complaining about men staring at their breasts and not listening to them.

LUCAS OIL TESTIMONIAL– My personnal experience. Yes, I use it in all my bikes. But, I want to tell you about my shop truck.

In 2006 I bought a S10 pickup for the shop and to pick up bikes. It had 80,000 miles on it, 2.2l with a 5-speed. Shifting wasn’t crisp and 3rd gear howled badly. Replaced transmission oil and still had noise. I replaced fluid again but this time added 50% with Lucas Sythetic Stabilizer.

About a week later was driving around and noticed shifting felt crisp and could actually feel detents like a new truck and noise was somewhat quieter. A month later noise was gone. Some five years later and 70,000 more miles, it still feels great and still quiet.

Thanks Lucas.

MEMORIAL DAY REMINDER– Remember What We Are Celebrating on Memorial Day–This weekend, our country will celebrate Memorial Day. We’ll cook out, relax, and visit with friends and family. But this holiday weekend is about more than barbeques, swimming pools, and family get-togethers. As we celebrate the Memorial Day weekend, let us keep in mind what we are “celebrating” — those who made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure that Americans, and people around the world, would be able to reap the benefits of freedom.

We should remember, too, the one freedom that protects all our other freedoms — the Second Amendment. Those who fought and died on the battlefield did so to protect our country, our way of life, and our freedom. It is now our calling, and our responsibility, to ensure that future generations never fail to realize how blessed we are to live in the United States, a country whose Constitution guarantees its citizens’ freedom, including our Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

This weekend, think about our great country and the freedom we presently enjoy. Think about what it would be like to lose that freedom. Think about our men and women in uniform, and the sacrifices they are making for all of us. And, remember those who paid a heavy price in defense of that freedom. As we celebrate their countless contributions and selfless sacrifice, let us pledge to one another that we will continue to carry that torch of freedom in defense of the Second Amendment.

Have a safe Memorial Day weekend, and please remember those who have sacrificed to protect our freedom!

All Ridewright Wheels available now for Indian Motorcycles– Ridewright Wheels, a dedicated motorcycle wheel company known worldwide for its solid line of spoke, billet and forged motorcycle wheels, introduces their complete line of El Camino, Omega and Exotica wheels for the Chief Dark Horse, Indian Chief Classic, Indian Chief Vintage and the Indian Chieftain models.

Indian owners can choose from an entire catalog of designs and to change the look of their motorcycle within hours.

Whether an enthusiast is looking for a traditional steel spoke, high-tech aluminum spoke, billet or a forged wheel, Ridewright Wheels has the designs in-stock and ready to deliver.

“We are the leader in motorcycle wheels for the Indian and provide more options and styles than Indian Motorcycles,” said Sam Wakim, President and founder of Ridewright Wheels.

Ridewright implemented their 3-piece Modular Billet Hub system. This allows these wheelwrights to wisely move their proven wheel designs to the Indian platform simply, quickly and easily because they are fitting just the hub, not the entire wheel.

By stocking these hubs, dealers can add an Indian option overnight. It also allows dealers to stock one wheel and multiple hubs to fit a boundless array of models and manufactures. The billet hub system allows the consumer to move the wheels from manufacturer to manufacturer and from model to model.

Not only is every wheel available for the big twin Indians, all the options are available too. Twista, diamond and jewel spoke designs are available on the Exotica and El Camino wheels which passed the JSON, TUV and DOT testing standards. Engraving and contrast designs are offered for the Exotica wheels. Contrast cut is an option on the forged El Camino wheels. And all of the wheels can be chromed or powder coated.

BIKERNET UNIVERSITY SPIRITUAL DEPARTMENT VOCABULARY LESSON–
“Alchemist” redirects here. For other uses, see Alchemist (disambiguation) and Alchemy (disambiguation).
The Emerald Tablet, a key text of Western Alchemy, in a 17th-century edition

Alchemy is an influential tradition whose practitioners have, from antiquity, claimed it to be the precursor to profound powers. As described by Paul-Jacques Malouin in The Encyclopedia of Diederot it is the chemistry of the subtlest kind which allows one to observe extraordinary chemical operations at a more rapid pace; ones that require a long time for nature to produce.[1] Defining objectives of alchemy are varied but historically have typically included one or more of the following goals: the creation of the fabled philosopher’s stone; the ability to transmute base metals into the noble metals (gold or silver); and development of an elixir of life, which would confer youth and longevity.

Though alchemy played a significant role in the development of early modern science,[2] it differs significantly from modern science in its inclusion of Hermetic principles and practices related to mythology, magic, religion, and spirituality. It is recognized as a protoscience that contributed to the development of modern chemistry and medicine. Alchemists developed a structure of basic laboratory techniques, theory, terminology, and experimental method, some of which are still in use today.

However, alchemists predated modern foundations of chemistry, such as scientific skepticism, atomic theory, the modern understanding of a chemical element and a chemical substance, the periodic table and conservation of mass and stoichiometry. Instead, they believed in four elements, and cryptic symbolism and mysticism was an integral part of alchemical work.

Taking Action Against the Waco Tragedy

What is the CTA about?

Following the tragedy in Waco, 170 individuals were arrested, charged with participating in organized crime, and given $1 million dollar bails. Although ther are currently insufficient details to determine exactly what happened at twin Peaks, there is ZERO DOUBT that the majority of the 170 individuals are not responsbile for any violence. The majority of individuals that were arested do not have a criminal record.

This was a Confederation of Clubs and Independents meeting solely intended to discuss legal and political issues. It was not, as has been reported, a gang meeting to discuss turf. COC meetings have been occurring in Texas and nationwide for decades without a single violent incident.

The myth being purported is simply false.
Video from inside the restaurant clearly shows the vast majority of bikers running away from the shooting and even helping civilians get to safety. Remember, law enforcement was on the scene and should have a clear picture of aggressors and victims. This should not be a guessing game. But it appears that the Waco PD arrested the majority of eyewitnesses and rights activists present at a publicly promoted political event.

So, for example, how can a mother, father, and son setting up a public safety booth for a political gathering be guilty of organized crime when violence erupts around them? It is not a crime to be present when a tragedy occurs. But that is how the majority of the 170 arrested are being charged and characterized.

There are veterans, ministers, former law enforcement, and everyday working Americans that are being denied their freedom and having their reputations tarnished because they were being responsible constituents and participating in the democratic process.

The $1 million dollar bails for 170 individuals is baseline corruption.

Bail is intended to insure that an individual attends court and does not flee. Extraordinary bail is being used as a punitive measure in Waco. It has been reported that few if any bondsmen in Waco will cover a $1 million dollar bond. In effect, bail is being used to keep innocent people incarcerated cut off from their families and places of employment. Many have already lost their livelihoods simply due to accusations and conjecture.

It is imperative that average American citizens are not stereotyped as criminals simply because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. The national biker community urges all relevant officials in Texas to reevaluate this massive injustice and make corrections. Charges on the majority of the 170 are clearly specious and should be dropped so these individual victims of overzealous law enforcement may return to their families and begin the process of healing and recovery.

What can I do?

Call Email, Fax, the following people, demanding the immediate release of all these innocent families, friends and patriots that are being held unlawfully in Waco, TX.

MEMORIAL DAY GUN NUT REPORT– Court Rebukes D.C. for Discretionary Licensing Regime, Orders Issuance of Concealed Carry Licenses to Eligible Applicants.

On May 18, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia issued an order prohibiting enforcement of provisions of D.C. law that effectively grant to the police chief the discretion to decide who may lawfully exercise the right to bear arms in public for self-defense.

This follows on the heels of an earlier ruling in which the District lost the argument that the right to “bear arms” does not apply outside the home, leading to the hasty enactment of an “emergency” may-issue concealed carry licensing scheme. Such a license is the only means by which most people can lawfully carry firearms in D.C. for self-defense. Monday’s case, Wren v. District of Columbia, made a preliminary ruling that D.C.’s policy of discretionary issuance would likely run afoul of the Second Amendment.

Under D.C.’s law, an applicant must show a “good reason to fear injury to his or her person” or “other proper reason” for the carrying of a concealed handgun. Apart from employment involving the handling or transportation of cash or other valuables, the only way to meet these requirements is to show “a special need for self-protection,” or for protection of a vulnerable family member, “distinguishable from the general community” (emphasis added). In other words, the District has established a strong legal presumption against exercise of the right that an applicant has to rebut with “evidence of specific threats or previous attacks which demonstrate a special danger” to the life of the applicant or vulnerable family member.

The upshot of these requirements is that most applications will be summarily denied, which D.C. acknowledged to the court was the point of enacting them. The court wrote, “Defendants argue that the … requirement[s] reasonably further[] its important governmental interest in reducing the number of concealed weapons in public in order to reduce the risks to other members of the public and to reduce the disproportionate use of such weapons in the commission of violent crimes.”

According to the court, however, meeting the “good” or “proper” reason requirement “does not indicate, in any way, whether that person is less likely to misuse handguns or may be less dangerous.” The court also found the requirements irrelevant to the question of whether the person would be at an increased risk of an accidental shooting or of criminal activity. “Is the Court to conclude,” Judge Frederick Scullin asked rhetorically, “that people who do not have a heightened need for self-protection are more likely to commit violent crimes?”

On the other hand, the court also found “it possible that even persons who cannot manifest a present need for self-protection are just as likely to be victims of a violent crime.”

Accordingly, the court ruled, “Defendants have failed to demonstrate that there is any relationship … between reducing the risk to other members of the public and/or violent crime and the District of Columbia’s ‘good reason/’proper reason’ requirement.” Instead, “this requirement makes it impossible for the overwhelming majority of law-abiding citizens to obtain licenses to carry handguns in public for self-defense, thereby depriving them of their Second Amendment right to bear arms.”

To date, the neither the District Court nor the D.C. Court of appeals have delayed implementation of Judge Scullin’s order that prohibits both enforcement of the unconstitutional provisions and denial of applications for those who otherwise meet licensing requirements and are eligible to possess and carry firearms in the District. For now, at least, D.C. is effectively a “shall-issue” jurisdiction.

How long that situation will last is anybody’s guess, but D.C. officials have already indicated to the media that they will continue their campaign to make D.C.’s gun control laws the strictest in the nation.

In the meantime, D.C. residents have access to what the U.S. Supreme Court characterized as a right to carry firearms “in case of confrontation,” rather than a District-granted consolation prize for those who have, metaphorically, taken one for the team by enduring the first round of aggression while disarmed.

WEEKEND BOOK RECOMMENDATION– Be Prepared For Dark And Deadly Secrets To Surface When You Dig Into Family History.

Discovering unexpected passion springing from your own heritage is one of the most satisfying rewards of genealogical research. Braha: A Tale of Innocence and Intrigue is the result of Julie Mangano’s foray into her own family tree, a gripping experience spanning continents and generations.

One reviewer writes: “…fascinating….Meticulously researched and beautifully written. I had trouble putting it down.” The book trailer, scheduled to be released shortly, will offer a glimpse into this deeply moving story.

Leena Weiss, a German peasant isolated in feudal Russia, makes a risky connection with an army officer that leads to life on the run, pursued by the secret police. A century later, her great-great-granddaughter Linden discovers an old journal that hurtles her into danger, when layers of clues and secrets surface to expose the connection.

Linden’s explorations of the past reveal that she and her family remain pawns in a deadly game that extends beyond borders and crisscrosses the globe. With rich detail and a feel for drama that rivals classic Russian storytelling, Braha: A Tale of Innocence and Intrigue is a thriller, historical novel and finely-drawn portrait of two women with unshakable and unforgettable personal strength.

Julie Mangano’s appreciation for family stories about her grandparents’ journey from Russia to America came to fruition as she envisioned the historical characters and events in this book, and childhood days at her grandparents’ ranch in Escondido, California inspired one setting in the story. Born and raised in Southern California, she now lives in Round Rock, Texas with her husband. She is working on the sequel to Braha.

Chicken Hawk Racing’s All-New Privateer Line of Motorcycle Tire Warmers– Chicken Hawk Racing, the USA’s premier manufacturer of motorcycle tire warmers, is proud to introduce its all-new Privateer product line. Built in upstate New York, each single-temp, multi-temperature and digital model combines high-end features with lower-than-ever prices–starting at $349–for budget-minded trackday riders and club racers.

Built with 23 years of bike-specific expertise, proven by hundreds of race wins around the world and dozens of national championships, Chicken Hawk’s nine-warmer product line is now available in three distinct levels. Anchored by the Privateer line are CHR’s traditional, Classic line and high-end Professional line. Each product line comes in single-temp, multi-temperature and a more sophisticated digital version.

Completing the tire-heating process in the pits, instead of on warm-up laps, helps limit the possibility of cold-tire-induced crashes, allowing riders to confidently spend more time at full speed on the track in each practice session and charge off the starting line in every race.

Each model of the new-for-2015 Privateer trio features a back-n-forth heating element design pattern that provides even heat across the tire. Their carbonized insulation layers retain heat and further assists in evenly spreading traction-producing warmth so tires accurately attain hot pressure.

Melt-proof DuPont fiber inner liners allow the Privateers to be thinner, lighter and more durable. They are impregnated with a temperature-sensitive dye that lets users ensure the warmers were properly installed and operated efficiently before leaving the pits.

The Privateers’ internals are wrapped by tough ballistic nylon shells in a distinctive red color with CHR logos. They’re supported by neoprene sides that give additional tire and wheel insulation by blocking wind blowing across rims. To provide a smooth, snug fit, these side panels are backed by an elastic stretch material. Simple to mount and remove, once they’re rolled in place, the warmers are secured by hook-and-loop fasteners.

Powered by a 6-foot-long cord, each has a shock-resistant thermostat. The single- and multi-temp temp models are factory-set to reach 175 degrees Fahrenheit. A simple flick of a switch toggles between high and low settings on the multi-temp model. The lower position helps prolong tire life by keeping them at 135 degrees during downtime between track sessions, limiting the number of heat cycles they endure. This setting also heats rain tires and others with soft compounds more efficiently. Dual-stage operating lights–red for heating and green for ready–indicate temperature at a glance.

The upgraded digital version boasts CHR’s third-generation controller. It features a sophisticated microprocessor with a slow-warming heat-soak program that heats tires gradually in a more controlled manner.

This trick, solid-state unit is typically mounted directly to the warmer and is attached with a convenient, quick-disconnect power cord. Its LCD screen displays set point, current temperature and a run-time counter as the unit works its magic. The set point is selectable with the push of a button–from ambient to 225 degrees. Fused for safety, it draws a maximum of five amps at 120 volts.

Made to fit all popular sportbikes with 160- to 190-series rear tires, the Privateers, like all CHR warmers, come with a one-year warranty and are supported by the company’s legendary after-sale assistance and repair services.

For more information, call 866-HOT-TIRE (866-468-8473) or log on to ChickenHawkRacing.com. Additional company-related news can be found on its Facebook page and YouTube channel.

THERE IS HOPE FOR GUN NUTS: GUN CONTROL CALLED “ABSURD” ON ANTI-GUN WEBSITE– To say the very least, articles questioning the advisability of gun control are few and far between on HuffingtonPost.com.

Recently, however, a blogger on the normally anti-gun website expressed views that are liable to work gun control supporters, into a tizzy. In a piece titled In Gun Control Controversy, Can Americans Handle the Truth?, self-described public relations consultant Mario Almonte says that in countries plagued by corrupt governments, violent religious fanatics, and civil war, people would “welcome guns to protect themselves and their families” and would consider gun control “absurd” and its advocates “extraordinarily naïve.”

INNOVATION OF THE WEEK– Architects to hatch Ecocapsule as low-energy house. Where people call home depends on varied factors, from poverty level to personal philosophy to vanity to community pressure. Ecocapsule appears to be the result of special factors, a team of architects applying their skills and imaginations to make investors and consumers re-think what can be a home.

To be sure, a newer wave of environment-minded “green” architects have been thinking beyond traditional concepts toward showcased structures as “living solutions.”

Ecocapsule is the work of a group called Nice Architects, a studio based in Bratislava, Slovakia. They worked out a concept of housing which is designed as energy-efficient. Their Ecocapsule drew the attention of several sites this week. Adam Williams in Gizmag talked about the structure on Thursday: “The big draw with this micro-home is the impressive sustainable technology that it promises. Packing a 2.6 sq m (28 sq ft) solar array on the roof, and an integrated battery system, Ecocapsule also sports a silent 750 W wind turbine that’s set on a retractable pole. The bathroom includes a composting toilet and a shower, and a rainwater collection and filtration system offers clean drinking water.

The interior according to the site pictures looks attractive and inviting. There is an entrance, living/working space, kitchenette, toilet and shower, and folding bed, all part of the deal. It is described as adequate enough for two people.

This is a portable house with an “immense off-grid life span,” they said. Ecocapsule was designed as a living space that, in addition to a home, might even serve as an independent research station, tourist room unit, or emergency housing unit.

The Ecocapsule is powered by a built-in wind turbine complemented with an array of solar cells. They said that the body of an Ecocapsule is covered with high-efficiency solar cells and a retractable pole holds a 750W wind turbine attached to the body. “This creates an energy system that can support you for almost an entire year in many off-grid locations,” they said.

They also said the dual power system and a high-capacity battery “ensures that you will have enough power during periods of reduced solar or wind activity.”

Also, since he lost his job 14 years ago, he hasn’t even looked for a new one.

Since our daughter went away to college he doesn’t even pretend to like me, and even hints that I may be a lesbian. What should I do? Signed: Clueless

BRANDON ROBINSON AND JAKE SHOEMAKER READY TO MAKE THEIR TRIUMPH DEBUTS AT SPRINGFIELD MILE– $5,000 in Bonuses Available to Triumph Teams at Each AMA Pro Flat Track Event

The Bonneville Performance and Latus Motors Racing teams have readied their Triumph motorcycles for the AMA Pro Flat Track round at the Springfield Mile, this Sunday, May 24th. The legendary mile oval at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Ill., will be the site of Brandon Robinson and Jake Shoemaker’s first rides on Triumphs in GNC1 Pro Twins racing competition.

Triumph Motorcycles America is also debuting a bonus fund of up to $5,000 per race to participating Triumph teams. Bonuses will be awarded based upon their results in qualifying, heat races, the Dash for Cash, and GNC1 Main Event. This is an extension of Castrol’s VETMotorsports Performance Match Fund announced in April where these same Triumph teams’ on-track performance earns donations to the nonprofit, veteran outreach organization.

Brandon Robinson, #44 of the Latus Motors Racing / Castrol / Triumph team, sits second in the GNC1 standings after the first two rounds at Daytona. Springfield is a track that fits him well, having won both races in 2013.

“I’m really eager to race at Springfield this weekend,” said Robinson. “It’s a place I’ve had a lot of success at in the past, and I’m looking forward to beginning a new chapter in my career aboard the Latus Motors Castrol Triumph!”

Bonneville Performance will welcome injured warfighter and United States Army veteran Sgt. Edward S., of Columbus, Ohio, as a working member of its team. In addition to the racing action, VETMotorsports and Bonneville Performance will have a booth near the main grandstands on Sunday. Fans can learn more about the team and VETMotorsports’ initiatives. Veterans attending the races at Springfield will also have the opportunity for a free ride on their motorcycles around the track.

Jake Shoemaker, competing on the #55 Bonneville Performance / Castrol / Triumph, has put in a lot of work this preseason and feels confident he can better his 9th place finish at Springfield from 2014.

“We’ve made some changes to the bike over the past couple months, and I’m excited to show the fans what the Triumph is capable of,” said Jake Shoemaker. “The VETMotorsports partnership means a lot to the Bonneville Performance team, and its great to be able to support them.”

For more information on the event including tickets, visit www.AMAProRacing.com/FT. The entire Springfield Mile event will be broadcast live online at www.FansChoice.tv. Timed practice begins at 10:15am CDT, a rider autograph session and open paddock to spectators at 12:00 noon CDT, followed by Opening Ceremonies at 1:00pm CDT. The GNC1 Main Event is slated for 4:00pm CDT.

HOW COULD ANYONE EVER BE BORED?— It’s incredible. Just in our industry, there is so much going on from the SmokeOUT to Born Free, to Sturgis, Hollister, and then the show circuit starts all over with Ultimate Builder Shows in a dozen cities and Easyriders shows in another batch of towns.

Then there’s Bonneville, all the drag racing, Speedway and Flat Track races. Hell, if you get bored you could buy an old car and restore it, so you can pull a trailer packing your latest race bike or Chopper. I almost bought a ’54 Olds the other day. I wanted it bad, but woke up from my dream. Gotta stay focused on our Bonneville efforts.

So, next week we will offer you a couple of wild bike features, and work on a tech install of new BDL forward controls, and that CV carb rebuild. Another Salt Torpedo update is headed your way, and a very beneficial story about saving Shovelheads by BDL with the helps of Lucky Devil in Houston. I know there are a ton more entertaining content pieces flying your way. Hang on. I’ve got to peel out.

Ride Free Forever,
