Hey,
I’m confused today, excited, and jammed up for next week. Here’s my list: I need to see a dentist. The city has made a decision about my building. The decision is not really a conclusion, but another task. In a sense I think we are starting over with a different crew, so we need to be ready, focused and Zen like.
I’m going to fly over to the MetalSport factory. Ron has taken on more businesses and more machining capabilities. Plus, he took on more tire lines. I’ll bring you a report.
Sugar Bear said we need to have lunch. He has the place and I need to ride my Indian and bring the briefcase. I’m into another Cantina Episode, Number 72. Holy shit. What’s going to happen to Olivia. What should happen to the bitch?
I need to see Bennett’s Performance about Dr. Hamster’s Panhead engine. I’m trying to repair a scissor jack and I saw a guy about fixing the charger. I’m concerned about the cost of four new massive 6-volt batteries.
We hope to cruise over to see Deb Black at Bartels’ about some of our new leathers from 5-Ball Racing. We’re beginning to build dealers.
I’m going to call Keith Ruxton about my crazy horse engine and my up-coming Biker’s Choice tech around their new Vulcan ignitions. I’m hoping to fix this bastard, at last.
Finally, I need to see Saddlemen about a couple of custom seats, with pans by El Wags. We will bring you a report.
Quick, let’s hit the news. I need a break and the week’s just starting.

Lisa & Judy were doing some carpenter work on a Habitat for Humanity House.
Lisa was nailing down house siding, would reach into her nail pouch, pull out a nail & either toss it over her shoulder or nail it in.
Judy, figuring this was worth looking into, asked, ‘Why are you throwing those nails away?’
Lisa explained, ‘When I pull a nail out of my pouch, about half of them have the head on the wrong end & I throw them away.’
Judy got completely upset and yelled, ‘You moron! Those nails aren’t defective! They’re for the other side of the house!’

Denver DA Green Lights 1st Degree Murder?–
The Denver District Attorney’s office announced yesterday that no charges will be filed against “an off-duty Colorado Department of Corrections employee” who killed Victor Mendoza after provoking a conflict at the Colorado Motorcycle Expo on January 30th of this year.
The DA’s decision flies in the face of the Denver Police Departments investigation. At a news conference Commander Ron Saunier said, “The Denver Police Department conducted hundreds of hours investigating the brawl and presented it to the district attorney’s office on Monday as a first-degree murder case.”
“We have considered this a homicide investigation throughout,” Saunier said. “I believe we have done a complete and thorough investigation.”
But the District Attorney is claiming that the shooting was self-defense.
“The investigation confirmed that shots were fired by Mendoza and Derrick Duran, the corrections department employee” says a statement by the DA’s office.
The DA claims that “Duran fired the first shot, injuring one person. Within a minute, Mendoza shot at Duran, grazing his torso and hitting another man behind Duran. Duran then fatally shot Mendoza.”
But a source close to investigation has told the MPP “that the DA’s conclusion that Mendoza fired a shot is based on a single witness. That single witness is Duran, the Iron Order member that shot and killed Mendoza.”
This source had told the MPP that the Iron Order witness that was struck by a bullet after grazing Duran gives a conflicting statement. “The Iron Order member that was shot says that it wasn’t Mendoza that fired, it was someone in a red shirt that has not been identified.”
“Police found a Derringer, not licensed to anyone, that had been fired once and failed to fire a second time. There is nothing that connects the Derringer to Mendoza”, says the source.
Even if the DA’s version of the story were accurate the facts would still justify 1st degree murder charges against Duran. “Duran was waving and pointing a loaded weapon at a crowd of unarmed people”, says the source. Whoever shot and grazed Duran did so in self defense and in the defense of every innocent and unarmed person present.
Why would the DA defer to the witness with the largest conflict of interest? This is particularly concerning considering that the Denver Police Department, after conducting hundreds of hours of investigations, submitted 1st degree murder charges against Duran to the DA.
The DA’s decision to ignore the conclusions of the Denver Police Department is outrageous. The pattern of evidence is undeniable. The Iron Order consistently provokes conflicts that result in the unjustified use of deadly force and the murder of Victor Mendoza is a clear example. The DA’s decision is a slap in the face of Justice and also risks the very real possibility that the Iron Order and other clubs like them will continue provoking conflicts and more innocent people will be killed. Essentially, the DA has given a green light to murder.

The Truth About WMDs in Iraq– Saddam was very interested in weapons of mass destruction
Sarin gas, mustard gas, enough yellowcake for 100 nukes.
Years after his presidency ended, George W. Bush is still criticized by the media and public for his so-called lies that led to the invasion of Iraq. The left has claimed that Bush fabricated a story about Saddam Hussein having an active weapons of mass destruction program in Iraq as a way to gain permission to launch an a war in Iraq.
The source who state Iraq was interested in buy Uranium was discredited, and uproar ensued.
The fact is, in an under-reported story in 2008, about 550 metric tons of yellowcake concentrated uranium was shipped out of Iraq. This massive amount of uranium is believed to be the last existing part of Hussein’s nuclear program within the country.
Douglas Hanson, reporter for American Thinker, wrote “Professor Norman Dombey, professor of theoretical physics at the University of Sussex, England, has confirmed that Saddam Hussein had more than enough yellowcake uranium to make over 100 nuclear weapons.”
Despite this discovery, the press has never really publicized that Bush did in fact have justifiable reason to invade Iraq. One would think that finding enough material to make 100 nuclear weapons in the Middle East would be headline news, however 8 years later, many people are still unaware that it even occurred because the media has never talked about it.
In fact, between 2004 and 2011, American and American-trained troops in Iraq repeatedly found and were wounded by various chemical weapons that had been left by Hussein’s government. In total, troops were reported to have found over 5,000 chemical warheads, shells and aviator bombs, although this information is largely redacted in official documents.
To put this in perspective, Hussein’s stockpile of yellowcake was so large that it required 37 military flights to transport it. Even if it was never used to create nuclear weapons, its sheer existence is dangerous because of radioactivity and the risk of it falling into the wrong hands. (Can you say “dirty bomb”?)
Many have argued that just because the yellowcake existed does not mean that Saddam had an active weapons of mass destruction program, but does it matter? Whether or not the program was active, the truth is Saddam was more than capable of rebooting it at a moment’s notice, giving us just reason to invade Iraq and end the rule of this tyrant.

SUNDAY POST COMMENT– Just read the post. I really like the segment on Robison H-D. The good old days! I remember in ‘89 I was in Daytona on my ‘88 Heritage Softail, and I had a battery cable break where it connects. The bike was under warranty. I walked in, and showed them the cable.
They never questioned anything, never looked at warranty card and never asked for the old cable back. I had it rigged so it would still make contact. They sent a tech out in the parking lot, put the new cable on and it was fixed!
Nowadays you have to show a warranty card, check on H-D net by vin#, return the old part? Things sure were a lot simpler back then!

REGARDING BANDIT’S INTRO IN THE NEWS– I received the following from my friend who is retired from the EPA in response to the MRF Press Release
HEY ROGUE, IT APPEARS THAT SOMEONE WAS ASLEEP AT THE SWITCH, ALLOWING THIS TO HAPPEN. SENATOR JOE MANCHIN AND WIFE RIDE AND THEY INTERDICTED AND GOT IT CHANGED. I WAS AWARE OF THIS BECAUSE I AM HITTING EPA IN THE ASS.
Senator Joe Manchin is from West Virginia and he and his wife are VERY ACTIVE HARLEY RIDERS.
I have been offered a meeting with the Senator should I want one. I just may take up the offer one of these days.
We can let people know Senator Manchin is a friend of motorcyclist.
We need to have motorcyclist contact their legislators and request they lower the funding to the EPA.
It appears they have too much if they can spend it on Harassing Motorcyclist.

BIKERNET BIKERS RIGHTS HISTORY LESSON– In Reference to the Bikernet Weekly News article Feds Resume Controversial Asset Seizure Program last Thursday.
You may remember back in the ‘70s when you were Editor of Easyriders about me exposing a Connecticut State Trooper for confiscating a motorcycle because the front end had been changed and also another motorcycle that the local Harley dealer had assembled out of two motorcycles. Both practices were totally legal and documented.
After the article was printed the same state trooper confiscated my motorcycle and then when that article appeared in Easyriders Leon’s tractor puller bike from an Easyriders Rodeo being held in Connecticut was also taken. I should note that after court action the motorcycles were returned to their owners.
The point I am trying to make here is that this has been going on for a long time and continues to this day. It Has To Stop!
The first thing that has to happen is change the law so that No Agency Profits From Their Seizure Operations. That will take the Greed, questionable and in some cases illegal action off the table.
One the other hand, If items can be Legally Seized and then sold, the money received should go to a completely different program like schools or to programs benefitting the taxpayers and not individuals and or the agencies they work for.
I would like to suggest that we ask the motorcycle rights groups to proceed with doing this and All Of US Contact Our Elected Officials and Request They Submit A Bill To Change This Practice.
Of course, we will get a lot of opposition from the people benefiting from taking other people’s property. They can continue to call it seizures or anything they want. But in too many cases, it’s just Outright Theft and has to be stopped.

ANOTHER 4-WHEELER IN THE SUNDAY POST– This is a Glaspar G-2 that a former boss and good friend had for many decades. Dad’s Glasspar G2 Roadster from the ‘50s. I sold it to Hatfield restorations out of Texas when I sold the dealership and they did a beautiful job of restoring it. The color is a little more copper than the candy apple red that it was and the windshield I had made to replicate the original piece, but otherwise the car is as it was then.
— Not sure, but it was in sad shape back in the early ‘70s, so with the 1st gen Hemi, I’d guess mid 50s.

SUNDAY GUN NUT REPORT– Rep. Tom Emmer Introduces Firearm Due Process Protection Act.
On Tuesday, Representative Tom Emmer (R-MN) introduced H.R. 4980, the Firearm Due Process Protection Act. This legislation is meant to ensure that eligible firearms purchasers are not arbitrarily denied their right to obtain firearms. The Act would afford those who are denied a firearm purchase by the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) an effective and expeditious means of correcting any misinformation that would erroneously cause such a result.
In January, we reported on the alarming news that the FBI had “temporarily” suspended work on processing appeals of denials issued by NICS. The backlog of pending appeals at the time stood at 7,100. As we noted in that article, FBI data from 2014 showed that some 5% of the denials rendered by NICS that year were later overturned on appeal, meaning 4,411 people who had initially been erroneously denied were later able to vindicate their rights.
Of course not every person who is wrongfully denied will necessarily wade through the considerable bureaucracy necessary to challenge that decision. And the FBI’s figures account only for NICS checks processed directly by the FBI and not by the 21 states that handle some or all of the firearm purchase background checks for their jurisdictions. Thus, the actual number of wrongful denials is undoubtedly much higher.
Current law does provide for an appeal process, but it does not establish deadlines for action on appeals or provide consequences for the FBI’s failure to act on them. Even before the FBI stopped processing NICS appeals altogether, the turnaround time for a decision could stretch from several months to more than a year.
Rep. Emmers bill would address these problems in several ways. First, it would require the government to make a final determination on an appeal within 60 days after it received information in support of the claim. If the matter was not resolved within this timeframe, the individual would have the right to bring an action in federal court for a declaratory judgment on the person’s eligibility to receive and possess a firearm; a hearing would have to be held within 30 days after the action is brought.
If the government cannot establish the individual’s ineligibility at the hearing, the court would be required to issue an order for the government to correct or remove the erroneous records of NICS within five business days and to award the individual attorney’s fees and costs for the action.
Due process is a fundamental pillar of the American constitutional system. The purpose of Rep. Emmer’s bill is not to weaken NICS but to ensure that it functions as intended, blocking only legally prohibited individuals and not those who are misidentified or the victim of other bureaucratic mistakes.
As Rep. Emmer stated in introducing the bill, “Two months is a reasonable amount of time to run a background check and correct false information. Above all, citizens must always have recourse when denied a fundamental right.”
The NRA commends Rep. Emmer’s leadership in this important effort and urges swift consideration of the bill by the U.S. House of Representatives.

Aussi FEDS TAKE A SHOT AT Queensland Premier over anti-biker legislation– Former Queensland drug cop, now Federal Minister for Immigration and Border Protection Peter Dutton, has accused the Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk of undermining a national taskforce targeting motorcycle clubs and warned that her soft touch could be putting Queenslanders in danger.
Correspondence sent by the Minister on Friday reveals Dutton has urged the Premier to reconsider watering down anti-biker laws for the sake of ‘Operation Morpheus’, which is targeting dangerous organized crime groups.
Ms Palaszczuk this month said draconian anti-biker legislation would be overhauled.
Opponent of the reforms both in private and through public submissions have warned the back down could embolden criminals, sparking Mr Dutton’s two-page, terse-worded ‘slapdown’.
“Queensland’s … laws have proven an effective tool for Queensland authorities to counteract the criminal bikie gangs, so effective that they have been emulated by other Australian states,” Mr Dutton wrote.
“It is extremely concerning to me that while other jurisdictions recognize the need for stepping up action against bikie gangs your Government is considering going in the opposite direction and watering down the current laws available to your police service to fight the bikie menace.
“Any such action would be counter-productive to Operation Morpheus and undermine the success in reducing this violent criminal activity in Queensland.”
The Morpheus taskforce comprises all state and territory police agencies, the Australian Crime Commission, the Federal Police, the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service, the Australian Taxation Office, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission and the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre.
“After strengthening the character test provisions of the Migration Act in 2014, both I and the department have assessed the role of foreigners who reside in Australia on visas and are members of outlaw motorcycle gangs,” Mr Dutton said.
“The results to date are significant. We have cancelled the visas of more than 86 bikie and other gang members – 16 from Queensland.
“We have removed a considerable number of these criminals from Australia while others are in immigration detention awaiting removal, and the Federal Government is determined to do all we can to make our communities safer and protect Australians from the activities of outlaw gangs and the often violent and destructive criminal activities they perpetrate.”
He said it was ‘well known’ motorcycle clubs were heavily involved in the manufacturing and trafficking of drugs, particularly “life-destroying” ice.
Ms Palaszczuk has indicated her government was going to water down the anti-association laws in favor of NSW’s anti-consorting legislation, which means biker will only be stopped from associating if they have been convicted of an offence.
BIKERNET CORRESPONDENT HITS THE HIPPY KILLER EVENT— The industry is changing and so are the events. But that’s the nature of life. Everything is changing all the time.
Jeremiah Soto and a couple of buddies rolled out to check the action.
The Hippy Killer Hoedown was conceived as the pre-party for the Biltwell Bash and has turned into a very successful one-day event.
Kutty Notebomm, owner of Hippy Killer Garage, had a vision to create a family friendly event that provides a laid back vibe with custom cars and motorcycles, great music and vendors. The Wild West Arena and Saloon in Winchester, CA. provides a great setting with numerous horse corrals, country bar, dust and the faint smell of manure.
I have been helping The Noteboom’s promote this event and have to say that this years turnout was the best we’ve had since the very first one in Kutty and Jamie’s back yard.
The day’s success was made possible by the kind donations from our sponsors and vendors, who donate their products to the crowd. It’s awesome to watch the families leave with new clothes, motorcycle parts and skateboard decks.
Our newest attraction was the mini bike races, which was well received by the crowd. All in all a great day with over 3500 people enjoying themselves.
We would like to thank the sponsors, vendors, the attendees, the righteous security team, our families and friends that made this day possible. Please follow Kutty’s blog for updates from the show and follow the official Hippy Killer Hoedown Facebook page. If you took photos at the show, be sure to add them to this thread.

An 1939 Indian Restoration Story
In response to Jerry’s entry: You are correct about it being Perth Amboy and Colavito Brothers dealership. It was originally owned by their Dad and they took it over. You may recall a large pole building behind the showroom, which is where they had piles of old Indians and parts.
They were all sold off by the time I returned to New York from Vietnam in 1970. Besides my 1939 Chief, I finished the “naked” bare metal 1946 Chief in the article photo in two tone jade green and creme. Then three years ago I purchased a 1948 Chief from the original owner’s grandson to whom it was left from her estate. She bought it in 1948 new, had only 9800 miles on it, but sat in a barn for almost 40 years. It needed a complete restoration but is a gorgeous bike done two tone black and white.
If I figure how I’ll attach some photos.

noun
1. Ecology. the animals, plants, fungi, etc., of a region or period.
Quotes
The author, like many other writers on similar subjects, has felt the need of a comprehensive term to include both fauna and flora which will not only designate the total of animal plant life of a given region or period, but also any treatise upon the animals and plants of any geographical area or geological period. As such a term I would suggest Biota, not only because its original significance covers the above definition, but also because of its brevity and obvious relationship to the term “Biology” as embracing Zoology and Botany.
— Leonhard Stejneger, “Scharff’s History of the European Fauna,” The American Naturalist, No. 410, February 1901
Origin
Biota finds its roots in the Greek biot? meaning “life.” It entered English in the early 1900s.
Now, about those key chains…

GUN NUT REPORT GETS POLITICAL– Clinton Panders to Party’s Base, Praises Connecticut Gun Ban as a National Model
Hillary Clinton – growing increasingly frayed over the stubborn persistence of her opponent in the Democratic Party primary – took to Connecticut this week to push her gun control message to what she hoped would be willing ears. No surprise, she combined her dual instincts for bad policy and pandering by embracing a 140-page gun control law the state passed in 2013 as a model for national legislation. Her comments echoed those of Barack Obama, who at the time also pushed for similar federal action, claiming, “Connecticut has shown the way . . .”
“I’m really proud that your leaders here in Connecticut have shown the way. That’s why what happened here in Connecticut really needs to be a model.” – Hillary Clinton
In a revealing comment, Clinton told her audience, “I am here to tell you I will use every single minute of every single day if I’m so fortunate enough to be your president looking for ways that we can save lives, that we can change the gun culture.” This was a rare moment of honesty from the would-be president, an admission that she would relentlessly use the power of that office to attack a “culture” that she detests.
And that was exactly what the Connecticut law sought to do – not to reduce crime, not to punish violent behavior, not to target ways criminals actually obtain firearms– but to add needless expense and red tape to discourage ownership of firearms by ordinary, law-abiding people. Falsely styled “An Act Concerning Gun Violence Prevention and Children’s Safety,” the bill delivered neither, while outlawing the possession of firearms and magazines that had been legally obtained and throwing roadblocks in the way of lawfully acquiring firearms and ammunition.
The centerpiece of the bill was an expanded ban on AR-15s and other semiautomatic firearms, which, though rarely used in crime, remain among the most popular, fastest selling guns in America today. Also banned were so-called “large capacity magazines,” defined as any magazine that has the capacity to accept, or “can be readily restored or converted to accept,” more than 10 rounds of ammunition.
Limited exceptions to these prohibitions applied to people who obtained the items lawfully before the act took effect and who registered them with authorities.
Besides chilling images of Americans queuing up to report themselves to the government simply for having exercised their rights, the registration requirements also produced widespread confusion and non-compliance. Shortly after the law took effect, copies of a letter from the Connecticut State Police surfaced online that had been sent to gun owners who tried to register but had missed the deadline. The letters (supposedly sent as a “public service”) outlined ways for the recipients to permanently dispose of their newly-illegal firearms before they were arrested for possessing them.
The Connecticut law also established new “eligibility certificates” to acquire long guns, including requirements for training, photographs, fingerprints, or any other “method of positive identification required by the State Police.” Ammunition purchases likewise became forbidden without an “ammunition certificate” or one of the state’s other firearm-related licenses or certificates. Each certificate requires the payment of processing fees, in addition to the expense of any required training.
On top of the eligibility certificates for long gun sales, Connecticut added a redundant requirement for a separate background check in the case of a retail sale or private transfer, with additional fees. Needless to say, failure to comply with the transfer formalities would also be a felony.
And that is merely a sampling. The full list of additional restriction and bureaucracy in Connecticut’s 2013 law is considerably longer.
Clinton, like Barack Obama before her, hopes her embrace of gun control will lead to a similar “national movement.” Whether that will ever happen remains to be seen, but in the meantime, the main movement Americans are making on guns is to buy them in unprecedented numbers.
For months, we have reported on Hillary Clinton’s open endorsement of Australian-style confiscatory gun control. While Connecticut hasn’t yet gone that far, her fawning praise for the state’s restrictive laws ahead of its upcoming primary has nothing to do with moderating her position. “[W]e have just too many guns,” Clinton told supporters in Philadelphia early in the week, “On the streets, in our homes, in our neighborhoods.”
Hillary doesn’t just want to stop you from getting a gun. She’s worried about the ones you already have in your homes and the “culture” that recognizes your right to have them. And we have no doubt, should America allow her to ascend to the White House, that she’ll make good on her promise to obsessively pursue every opportunity to make both those guns and America’s Second Amendment heritage disappear.

THE BIKERNET BAD JOKE LIBRARY IS ALWAYS OPEN– A blonde hurried into the emergency room late one night with the tip of her index finger shot off. ‘How did this happen?’ the emergency room doctor asked her.

IT’S NEVER DONE— As soon as we wrap the Sunday Post I start collecting news for Thursday.
We are currently working on a finale Cantina Episode for the Olivia series, the John Arbeeny Indian story, a Biker’s Choice Vulcan ignition tech, a Metal Sport company update, and you name it. I’m also going to work with Keith Ruxton on an engine tech. He was the master behind the ER Streamliner effort.
We attended the TrailBlazers Banquet last night and ran into brothers and industry giants. It’s an inspiring gathering. My grandson went for the first time. I hope he enjoy all the old guy shit.
Before the week kicks my ass, let’s go for a ride.
