AMD at Las Vegas–
Important news from Robin Bradley,
American Motorcycle Dealer,
November 17th 2004
If you plan to be at the Big Twin West Expo this coming weekend be sure to come and say hello to the AMD team.
There are just three more weeks to go before we close our January V-Twin Expo preview edition, and with advertising and editorial space already being taken up faster than ever before, make sure you are in dialog with us if you have news you’d like us to share with industry professionals in the custom v-twin sector in advance of the ‘Cincinnati’ Show.
The actual Show edition will be the February number; this will have been closed, printed and mailed before the V-Twin Expo, but will be seen for the first time at the show at the end of January.
Also, if you are a volume motorcycle builder (from one a month and up), or you have a parts and accessories program that you’d like to advertise to volume builders, then check out the upcoming first annual AMD ‘Builder Book’.
This will be a first-of-its-kind registry where custom v-twin volume builders can record themselves as such (for free) and will be a valuable guide for dealers and builders alike to who is doing what, and who has what for sale, in this increasingly important sector of the market.
Other upcoming AMD specials also include ‘ProGuides’ on PowerTrain/EFi (which includes driveline and engine parts), and on Brakes, Wheels and Suspension products.

You Must Be a Dentist–A guy and a girl meet at a bar. They get along so well that they decide to go to the girl’s place.
A few drinks later, the guy takes off his shirt and then washes his hands.
He then takes of his trousers and washes his hands again.
The girl has been watching him and says, “You must be a dentist.”
The guy, surprised, says, “Yes! How did you figure that out?”
“Easy,” she replied, “you keep washing your hands.”
One thing led to another and they make love.
After they have done, the girl says, “You must be a good dentist.”
The guy, now with a boosted ego says, “Sure, I’m a good dentist, How did you figure that out?”
“Didn’t feel a thing!”

BIKERNET NEW PRODUCT RELEASE FROM SAMSON–
Four Step Dual Crossover Header and Muffler for Road King and Dressers
Anaheim, California, November 16, 2004
Caliber High Performance Exhaust has designed and developed a cutting edge true dual crossover 4-step exhaust system for 1995 to 2004 Road Kings and Dressers. The system utilizes a 3 step header and incorporates the tuned muffler as the 4th step. The system greatly improves the street performance of these fine road motorcycles, at the same time producing a deep invigorating sound.
The complete system includes full coverage heat shields, 2 sets of baffles, all mounting hardware, chrome mounting bracket, a brilliant chrome 3? muffler and an engraved chrome aluminum end cap. The beauty of the Caliber True Dual Header System is the beauty of the system. The smooth flowing lines are evidence of careful planning and an eye for good looks. The right side pipe carefully follows the lines of the classic styling of the bike and makes a single straight line from the floorboards to the end of the muffler. Without drama or excess, the left side pipe exits from the rear cylinder to form strong lines that end at the perfect location behind the bags.
?Street ride-ability is what these pipes are all about? said Kenny Price, CEO of Samson Motorcycle Products. ?The new Caliber line raises the bar for performance pipes that look good.? Extensive Dyno testing proves the Caliber True Dual Crossover system put the power to the road with significant increases in horsepower and torque.
All Caliber exhaust systems come with a Full Two Year Warranty._

MEMBERSHIP
Our membership has nearly doubled in the last few months. I’d like to welcome all the new members and thank all our other members for continuing to pass the word and encouraging others to join this fight. I know that some of you have signed up a few people who don’t have email addresses. Unfortunately, we’re currently sending all our communications electronically, so please pass this information on to those friends and neighbors that don’t have email. The good news is that we are growing very, very quickly. After two years, MADD had only two hundred members across the entire country. We now have nearly 5 times that number. So trust that you are not alone in your feelings. And I can tell that there are many of you out there passing the word, because the rate at which we are growing is increasing. That’s great news!!! Keep it up!
RECENT LEGAL FINDINGS
In what I consider a MAJOR finding, the Supreme Court last week ruled that a drunken driving accident is not “a crime of violence”. As you know, MADD just loves to spout off about DUI’s being “a crime of violence” and by using that phrase, they have gotten a lot of legislation passed that might not have been passed without it. Hopefully, this will now help to open some doors for us to start fighting back against some of these unfair laws.
The New York state supreme court found that the practice of confiscating automobiles in DUI cases is unconstitutional. As such the city of New York, which put this practice into place several years ago, was required to return thousands of vehicles to people who had them confiscated. Wayne County here in Michigan is now attempting to do the same thing. But one of the lawyers we’ve been working with from the National College of DUI Defense has filed an appeal to fight it here. With the New York ruling as a precedent, we have high hopes for his success. But we’re proud to announce that this is now our third year of a reviewing NHTSA’s data and people are starting to take notice of what we’re doing. Two other great sites are And as usual, if you have a few extra dollars, please send them our way. Even $5 from every member would help us to buy brochures and continue to send letters to congress. Well, that’s about it for today. Feel free to write me or call anytime. Rogue Continued On Page 4
SPEAKING OF LAWYERS
This past summer the American Bar Association voted that DUI Defense is now a specialty area of law and that the National College of DUI Defense (
POLICE ABUSE
Many of our members and/or their friends and family have been severely abused by the police. However, they don’t know what to do about it or are afraid (with good reason) to file a complaint at the police station. We have recently developed a relationship with an organization called The Police Complaint Center. They are an organization that does investigations of police abuse and they have been featured on Dateline. If you or someone you know has been abused by the police, you can have the Police Complaint Center file the complaint for you and they will do it for free. They provide other investigative services that do cost money, but filing a complaint they will do for free. They have had a great deal of success. Please check out their website at
POLITICS
We’ve been actively participating in several political races. I attended a fundraising event for our Secretary Of State Terri Lynn Land and got to speak to her directly about RIDL. I also participated in the Michael Badnarik’s race for President for the Libertarian party and also got to talk to him directly about RIDL. This is the way to get things done folks. Talk to your local and state politicians. Tell them how wrong these laws are. Let them know you’re a member of RIDL and that our numbers are growing daily. Eventually, we will win. Remember, there are more of us. You can’t possibly arrest 2 million people a year for 20 years without eventually having people start to fight back. That’s what we’re doing. Keep up the fight!
STATISTICS
You all know how much I love crunching those numbers. I recently completed the 2003 state reports. I’ve sent them to the webmaster and hopefully they will be out there on the web soon. Just a quick explanation. NHTSA usually reports their figures in the late spring/early summer time frame. Unfortunately, they don’t make their database available until a few months after that. So I can’t run my own reports until the database is officially available. That’s the reason why there is always a delay from the time NHTSA puts out their figures and I’m able to counter.
DISCUSSION FORUM
Come on in, the water’s fine. We have a few regulars that like to come out and talk on our discussion forum, but I’d like to see more folks stopping in to say hello. There is a TON of excellent information out there from laws, news, breathalyzers, checkpoints, etc. Plus many of our members tell me that they appreciate have the opportunity to talk to other people about their case without have to worry about being judged. Once in awhile we have a MADD type person stop in and give us grief, but we soundly trounce them and it’s usually a lot of fun. So stop on in and say hello sometime. (

Take a look at these two great sites for up-to-date information on the DUI related news and articles.
DONATIONS
We’re fully aware that many of our members are already having their wallets raped by the system. As such, we’ve always insisted on RIDL membership being free. Unfortunately, we don’t get a lot of donations either and we simply can’t keep operating without funding. We’re seriously talking about charging for membership and for some of the reports. Anyone who is already a member would be grandfathered in and not be required to pay dues, but new members will likely have to pay to join. We haven’t set out all the details, but the cost of membership will probably be in the $10/year range. We will let you know ahead of time when/if this is going to happen. In the meantime, this might be a good time to let any potential new members know that they can still join for free.
