MORE CRANKING FOR LATE MODELS–The new Compufire 1.6kW starter for late model Harley-Davidson motorcycles (2006 and later Dynas and 2007 and later Big Twins) produces 102% more working energy than the stock starter with the use of a high-energy, high amperage, precision wound armature.
The starter includes an eleven-tooth drive gear (ten is stock), which increases the cranking speed and multiplies the torque for reliable starting of large displacement or high compression Twin-Cam engines. The new starter will operate at the rated output using the stock battery and cables and will clear the oil filler on both Dyna and Touring models.
The new Compufire 1.6kW starters are available in a chrome or black finish and are packaged in attractive display style packaging. Compufire products are made in the USA..

Thanks for the work on this. I have found a standard, replacement, choke bracket, in chrome, from Zodiac and with the addition of a ‘small piece’ from Chrome works, usually attached to the carb lid, I may be able to achieve a similar look.

NEW AIR CLEANER/SORTA FROM KIRK TAYLOR–Kirk Taylor and the crew at Custom Design Studio are at it again and have come up with a new velocity stack called “Dicks Cool Unit” that bolts directly on to a Mikuni Carburetor.
It is machined from aircraft grade aluminum and CNC cut to precision. This velocity stack has been featured on several custom builds of Kirks including “Blood on Blood.”
They are also offering up an adapter that will allow “Dicks Cool Unit” to bolt up to CV and S&S carburetors as well as Factory EFI units up to 2007.
They are raw aluminum with a Black Anodized base, so you can paint, polish or plate to your needs.
I have attached a picture that shows the velocity stack installed on an S&S with the adapter.

SOUTH SIDE CUSTOM THREATENED BY NEW YORK STATE POLICE–That’s Right — South Side Kustoms has to ask for help this time. New York State DMV, walked in here a few days ago and basically tried to shut South Side Kustoms down.
Why you may ask? Well after my 8th bike on the road, and the projected bikes for the rest of the year and next year’s projection. New York State decided to tell me, after my 8th bike. That we need to be a registered dealer in New York State.
Yes this was news to me….
Yes we are a registered builder with VIN Number assigment, but the Federal Government and Albany both seemed to be clueless ( up until now) on whether us custom builders (manufactures) needed to be registered dealerships. So apparently South Side Kustoms CAN NOT sell our bikes, until we become compliant.
Well with our economic situation in the good ol’ USA as of late, $4,000 is a lot to come up with all at once.
$4,000.00 you ask? Yes-
Almost $1,500 in NYS Registration Dealer ( Includes dealership for 2 years/signs/paperwork/dealer plates/etc.)$500.00 FINE – for being non-compliant even though we asked many times and told NO you don’t need this$2,000- For Store front with display area / locking office with locking file cabinet (NYS REQUIREMENT), bonding because you have to be bonded as a dealer.
I really don’t want to have to leave this state, I love Buffalo and the Western NY area. But if it doesn’t work here, I may just have to pack up, and get out of dodge.
